I really have no idea. No clue. This is going to be a season like Mayberry RFD or when Randy Quaid was on Saturday Night Live.

Kerry Collins starting for the Indianapolis Colts.

Obama's jobs speech has pushed the NFL pregame extravaganza to a bunch of cable channels, among them SyFy. I am excited to watch football-related programming on the same channel I normally watch Debbie Gibson vs. Gateroid.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

The last quarterback to start for the Colts who wasn't Peyton Manning was 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

Manning's in the "Mike Sherman's last season at Green Bay" era on the Favre timeline.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

It is definitely much more bizarro NFL to open the season, but in a way I think it is a BIT easier to pick on week one, as you lean a bit heavier on the clubs that usually have their sxxt together than usual (except Indy). There are also a couple of clubs going total commando at QB starting a rookie QB on 20 practices which would only work in like First & Ten or some goofball comedy like Heaven Can Wait or The Waterboy (and even he would never get to return the ball as they pretty much banned kickoffs).

New Orleans @ Green Bay - probably close, but you take the Packers at home.
Atlanta @ Chicago - hard to say or call, but I am leaning Falcons
Cincinnati @ Cleveland- There is just no way Andy Dalton rips the Browns and Cincy wins with their jailbird running game and pourous offensive line. Browns are not great, but if they can't win this one, it's going to be one cold ass fall off the lake. I could see the Cincy defense playing up as it is the Browns and weird stuff happens in rivalry games especially when one club seems like a colossal lock game to take Cleveland, which I do.
Buffalo @ Kansas City- I sware I don't think I have seen the Bills play in like five years. KC are going to be playing without Cassel I think, but I still take the Chiefs at home.
Philadelphia @ Saint Louis- I'm taking the Eagles, but I wouldn't be suprised if the Rams knocked them off, as 1. the Rams seemed to be improving and 2. Andy Reid wins alot of games especially against good teams, but his clubs do have sometimes the knack of playing bad in weird matchups sometimes.
Detroit @ Tampa Bay- Kind of an intriguing matchup, as I think Detroit's D-line is interesting and they are kind of an interesting 'maybe' club. I'm taking the Bucs as they are a flight or two up the stairs from the basement in the development line. Then again...who knows now - I have no idea how much turnover their rosters had in the free for all.
Tennessee @ Jacksonville- I have no idea. Jags cut their middling starting QB for a McCown. Titans only just signed Johnson, have a new coach, qb, etc. Jags I guess--they at least have the same coach.
Pittsburgh @ Baltimore- Well, these guys know each other, so I think the whole lockout turmoil doesn't really apply here. It's still a total pickem game.
Indianapolis @ Houston- I guess Texans, but it would be a good story for the Colt defense to come out and smack down Houston. It could happen, but not bloody likely unless the Colts are able to run the ball for the first time in a couple years.
Carolina @ Arizona- (see Browns/Bengals game then subtract rivalry) I'm taking the Cards hard, new Qb or not.
Minnesota @ San Diego- Chargers have the talent and should win, but they have also played themselves into a corner the last couple years blowing these kind of games. It will be interesting to see if the Vikings defense bounces back at all. McNabb should do Ok, eventually.
Seattle @ San Francisco- fxxk if I know. I think both clubs are running the single wing, as there isn't a freaking QB on either club. I'll take the Niners as Harbaugh you know has a hard on for wanting to beat Carroll at anything. Harbaugh would probably chew marbles to beat Carroll at chinese checkers, if he needed to.
New York Giants @ Washington- I liked that Grossman moxie back in Chicago, but you know that isn't going to work. Giants SHOULD win, but hey it's the Giants, they often really seem as good as their rep/hype.
Dallas @ New York Jets- Eh, I'm kind of scared that Garrett might actually know what he is doing and will cut down on the strippers and showtime that usually keeps the Cowboys from really being good. That said, you go on what you know and last time I saw the Jets, their D was pretty good. Jets it is.
New England @ Miami- Pats. Dolphins off season moves make go good sense at all other than they want to suck get a high draft pick and try to hire a big name next year.
Oakland @ Denver- I bet this one will be fun to watch. I have no idea if either of these clubs are any good. Total pickem, but I go RAIDERS as I am just not a Broncos fan.

Atlanta @ Chicago - tough road game, not a gimme

New Orleans @ Green Bay - packers
Atlanta @ Chicago - falcons
Cincinnati @ Cleveland - cleveland. having just spent a few days in cinci i wish i could pull for them but what they're doing to palmer is unconscionable.
Buffalo @ Kansas City - hard to reconcile how bad the chiefs looked in the preseason with their supposed talent level. if they were away i'd pick buffalo but they're not.
Philadelphia @ Saint Louis - eagles, but i think this will be close.
Detroit @ Tampa Bay - two of the teams i'm most interested to see. bucs.
Tennessee @ Jacksonville - totally agree w/"who knows" but i think the jags will pull this out.
Pittsburgh @ Baltimore - steelers. i think ravens decline in a serious way this year.
Indianapolis @ Houston - week 1 is the best time to pick who you want to win so texans!
Carolina @ Arizona - moribund game of the week. cards.
Minnesota @ San Diego - chargers should take care of business.
Seattle @ San Francisco - niners
New York Giants @ Washington - giants
Dallas @ New York Jets - see indy/houston but man it will get ppl talking if dallas takes this
New England @ Miami - pats

The Bruschi shit is 10000% legit. He has been hated by EVERYONE since he was a kid. Coaches, class mates, teammates, family members. He was such a fucking asshole to his family that his parents rented out a duplex for him live in by himself when he was in high school just to get him out of their hair. When he was home from college he'd routinely show up to high school parties which more times than not ended with him beating the shit out of the person hosting the party for no real reason. Also, he MAY have fucked one of his second cousins while high.
