I want it to be the Bengals, but it's probably the Pats.

not even the worst playoff team of the last two years

frogbs, Tuesday, 3 January 2012 20:40 (thirteen years ago) link

though that Seahawks team was almost certainly the worst playoff team ever, so the Broncos are probably 2nd worst

frogbs, Tuesday, 3 January 2012 20:40 (thirteen years ago) link

seahawks won a playoff game tho!

you could get like 1000 to 1 on Broncos/Lions, book it now

With Mendenhall going down and Big Ben hobbled, I got to go Pats. The Ravens will do dumb penalties or turnovers and just not get it done.

I think the Pats are pretty damn flawed on defense, but then again so are the Packers for that matter.

earlnash, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 04:35 (thirteen years ago) link

It would have been interesting to see how the Texans "would" have done if they hadn't had all of the injuries.

I hate the Pats, Ravens and Steelers - so I personally don't want any fo them to win and I have no confidence that any of the other six can get more than maybe a single upset.

I'd almost say the Bengals have the better shot to maybe take out the Pats than the Texans. Maybe they will get it done through dumb luck and not knowing it should happen.

steelers would never win in foxboro even were they all healthy and on meth

mookieproof, Thursday, 5 January 2012 00:18 (thirteen years ago) link

Man the afc is terrible

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 5 January 2012 10:09 (thirteen years ago) link

i am pretty sure about:
houston beats cincy
sburgh beats denver
bally beats houston

if ne beats sburgh they lose to bally
if sburgh wins they beat bally this time
i think ne probly beats sburgh at foxboro

so...bally, by the luck of the draw.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 5 January 2012 10:54 (thirteen years ago) link

no idea how you can call the houston/cinci game, both teams have such huge question marks right now. i mean houston is the better team (hell, when all healthy, they may be the best team in the league, even better than GB), but they're missing so many skill players it's going to be like those Week 17 games where one team is resting their starters but seems to be trying hard anyway

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:35 (thirteen years ago) link

voted pats, tho i dont really believe it, otoh i dont believe the other teams either

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago) link

xp what are cincy's huge question marks? just like being inconsistent/not beating any good teams?

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago) link

pats/gb superbowl would be an wonderful scoring orgy

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago) link

i vote for that

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago) link

and also the patriots winning it

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago) link

i am living in a fantasy

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago) link

cinci's question marks are prob strength of schedule and also andy dalton who may be hitting a rough patch.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:47 (thirteen years ago) link

well they did play in prob the toughest division..

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:48 (thirteen years ago) link

their 9-7 record has them going 0-7 vs. playoff teams and 9-0 vs. every one else, so it kinda follows that they probably won't win a playoff game

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:50 (thirteen years ago) link

even though Dalton has been better than expected they're still in the bottom third in most offensive categories

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:51 (thirteen years ago) link

they were competitve in every game, save 1. i dont nec mean 2 be capt save a bengal here but i think the game is at worst for them a coin flip

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:54 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i misspoke when i said strength of schedule it is actually not beating good teams.

at this point tho are the texans really a good team.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:56 (thirteen years ago) link

wait, what

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:57 (thirteen years ago) link

they're pretty evenly matched, but Houston's at home which makes it kind of a weighted coin

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 14:57 (thirteen years ago) link

road teams went 3-1 wc wkend last yr, home field has generally meant much less in the playoffs for a few yrs now

johnny crunch, Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:00 (thirteen years ago) link

cincinnati can win that game for sure, its not even money but still

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:02 (thirteen years ago) link

at this point tho are the texans really a good team.

obviously it's hard to know right now but I feel like the Texans were pretty underrated. when everyone was healthy they were a top 5 offense and top 5 defense, which no other team could claim. someone on this board called that they were a playoff team and tbh I did not see the defense turning around like this (JJ Watt deserves a ton of credit for this)

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:08 (thirteen years ago) link

road teams went 3-1 wc wkend last yr, home field has generally meant much less in the playoffs for a few yrs now

don't think that's anything more than short-term variance

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:10 (thirteen years ago) link

i think cincy is going to win that game

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:16 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't think tj yates is winning a playoff game

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:16 (thirteen years ago) link

i voted for the ravens in this poll and i'm a noted total nonbeliever in flacco... i just don't have confidence in any other team

texans/bengals/broncos are obv not going

then after that, ben is really hurt + they gotta win a bunch of road games and i guess i'd like to see the pats win a playoff game for the first time in like a decade before i call them to the super bowl (nb i picked the pats to win the super bowl before the year) -- just seems like this might finally be the ravens "year"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 15:18 (thirteen years ago) link

well it's either tj yates/jake delhomme or andy dalton

frogbs, Thursday, 5 January 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago) link

the ravens with a great QB would be a force to be reckoned with but i don't think they're going to get past the pats. basically a pats/GB or pats/saints super bowl would be a dream. 42-38 or something like that imo.

System, Friday, 6 January 2012 00:01 (thirteen years ago) link

houston is way better than cincy, cmon now. houston is better pretty much all over the field and ppl are writing them off because of yates who is really not that bad. is dalton really that much better? i dunno.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 6 January 2012 00:17 (thirteen years ago) link

if they're healthy yeah but its an open question how good they can be without like 3 of their best 5 players

frogbs, Friday, 6 January 2012 02:39 (thirteen years ago) link

Is Yates playing? Because I thought he did his shoulder in and Delhomme was playing. If it's Yates, their chances go up considerably.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 January 2012 02:53 (thirteen years ago) link

regrettably, pats
man, if houston has a solid qb...

Thug Luftwaffle (forksclovetofu), Friday, 6 January 2012 19:00 (thirteen years ago) link

just a reminder to the "yates is not that bad crowd!" that the texans are riding high into the playoffs on a three game losing streak to carolina, indy and tennessee

J0rdan S., Friday, 6 January 2012 19:26 (thirteen years ago) link

he's not exactly Caleb Hanie though

frogbs after dark (frogbs), Friday, 6 January 2012 19:52 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, but he's not exactly andy dalton either

J0rdan S., Friday, 6 January 2012 19:59 (thirteen years ago) link

I picked the Bengals to win, but wouldn't be surprised if the Texans advance.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:15 (thirteen years ago) link

j0rdan otm, I mean Yates isn't bad, but his effect on the Texans offense is kinda like if you took a Ferrari and put in a limiter that capped the speed at 60.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 7 January 2012 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link

Delhomme is even worse tho at this stage.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 7 January 2012 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link

and yes, Dalton is a better QB than Yates. but it's kind of irrelevant, because Dalton fits his team's offense better than Yates fits his.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 7 January 2012 15:25 (thirteen years ago) link

interesting that florio is continuing 2 report that hes getting it from sources that brady quinn is getting more snaps or preparing "differently" even though the broncos & quinn himself have denied it

johnny crunch, Saturday, 7 January 2012 17:51 (thirteen years ago) link

broncos start FAVRE america goes INSANE
