“Yeah I still got it,” he said, laughing. “Of course I still got it. That’s the thing. When you retire on your own terms, you can make the argument that you still have it.”

Last week 11-4 for the season 43-20

Buffalo at Cleveland- This is a pickem game. No real idea, so give me the Browns at home.
New England at Cincinnati- Pats but I wonder if clubs will run mad against NE with Wilfork out like what happened the last time he got hurt.
Detroit at Green Bay- Packers
Seattle at Indianapolis- I hope this game is on TV around where I live. I'm taking the Colts, mostly as Seattle hasn't been quite as dominant on the road. This should be a good game.
Baltimore at Miami- This is a total hangover game...I guess Ravens, but I will believe it if close or goes other way.
New Orleans at Chicago- Saints. Bears 'might' give them a game and 'might' have enough offense to go toe to toe with them, but unless they get some big turnovers which they can do, I got to go New Orleans with their improved defense.
Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants- Boy this is a fugly matchup. I'm taking the Eagles but I don't like either club at this point.
Jacksonville at St. Louis- Rams, but this could be the Jags Superbowl to keep from going o-fer.
Kansas City at Tennessee- It will be interesting to see which club is more the real deal as the season goes on. I'll take Titans as they have played a bit better competition.
Carolina at Arizona- I'll take the Cards as Carolina seems to play well enough to just lose these type matchups.
Denver at Dallas- I'll take the Broncos, but I could see this being closer than you think, especially if Denver turns over the ball a couple of times stupid.
Houston at San Francisco- Both of these clubs don't seem to be figuring it out so far, but I got to think the Niners will win.
San Diego at Oakland- Chargers but I hope Oaktown wins.
N.Y. Jets at Atlanta- Don't like the Falcons this year, their defense is substandard and they just are not as good on offense as the past couple of seasons. Atlanta to win, but if the game is totally fugly, I could see the Jets hanging around.

This will be the second week in a row Julio Jones will have to beat an elite corner. If Jackson comes back and can keep the rushing game going, a win is possible. They won't win this through the air, though.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 23:31 (eleven years ago)

that's generous to talib but the jets definitely don't have an elite corner

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 23:36 (eleven years ago)

Cromartie gets his job done imo.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 00:37 (eleven years ago)

cro is an ok player but no way in hell is he l33t

(neither is talib altho if he keeps this up...)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9759786/donte-whitner-san-francisco-49ers-changing-name-hitner-fine

San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who has revealed he was fined $21,000 by the league for a hit during last Thursday night's victory over the St. Louis Rams, said Wednesday he's dropping the "W" from his last name.

"I actually put the paperwork in yesterday afternoon. Just waiting to get the paperwork out," he said in a conference call with the Houston media. "So from here on out until I retire, my name will be Donte Hitner, without the W."

Allen makes it official: Matt McGloin now #Raiders backup as Matt Flynn No. 3. Re Flynn: “It is what it is. It didn’t work out,” Allen said.

It is what it is. It didn't work out.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:08 (eleven years ago)

lol

johnny crunch, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:09 (eleven years ago)

a good PR move for donte whitner is to make his last name one letter away from "hitler"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:15 (eleven years ago)

reggie mckenzie has to be one of the worst GMs in the past few decades

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:15 (eleven years ago)

it's probably too early to call it but I'm definitely not happy. Basically every guy who has been good this year was a guy Al drafted.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:17 (eleven years ago)

the coaching hires last year were completely unacceptable

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:17 (eleven years ago)

even allowing for the situation he inherited.... is there a single thing you could point to and be like "yeah that was a really nice move/pick up"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:26 (eleven years ago)

...trading down to get dj hayden? is that guy even good?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:27 (eleven years ago)

Marquette King has been good, but he's a fucking punter

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:28 (eleven years ago)

DJ Hayden has looked pretty bad but he's a rookie corner so whatever. But Star Lotulelei was a pretty obvious pick and looks like rookie of the year.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:29 (eleven years ago)

the defense has been pretty solid in a stitched together way, I'll give him some credit for that

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 October 2013 01:31 (eleven years ago)

i thought the story was he was vigorously cleaning up the cap mess so theyd be competitive in the future

yeah but that's one thing. he's also added a whole bunch of non impact players.

Its worked out well for Flynn's bank account. The only winner in that saga.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Thursday, 3 October 2013 18:32 (eleven years ago)

has a QB ever made more money for doing less than Matt Flynn? he's made like $20 mil and he's started like 3 games. as a backup to Rodgers and Wilson he's done almost nothing.

frogbs, Thursday, 3 October 2013 18:39 (eleven years ago)

One fucking game and his great grandkids are set for life. Against the goddamn Lions if im not mistaken.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Thursday, 3 October 2013 18:43 (eleven years ago)

he did well against the Patriots too! (in a 31-27 loss. still, the Pats were 14 point favorites and that was a game where freakin' Wilfork returned a fumble for a TD)

frogbs, Thursday, 3 October 2013 18:54 (eleven years ago)

Should've sent up gigantic red flags when Joe Philbin, his previous coach, passed on getting him to Miami.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 18:13 (eleven years ago)

trade gonzalez back to kansas, let him have another playoff game. i bet the chiefs would give up a reasonable pick for 2/3rds of a season, maybe even as high as a 4th?

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 8 October 2013 18:19 (eleven years ago)

That's not a bad idea. KC is hurting at tight end, and Gonzalez could go out on a high note.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 8 October 2013 18:20 (eleven years ago)

Never happen in a million years.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 8 October 2013 18:36 (eleven years ago)

I know. The sentimentality of the NFL only goes so far, but they could probably use the extra 2014 pick tbh.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 8 October 2013 18:39 (eleven years ago)

if you can get any pick for a retiring player in a dead season it is a total no-brainer, but probably the chiefs wouldn't go for it. any team that would is probably not one that is going to give him the post-season to make it worthwhile.
