Gonzalez is saying the right things, but you know he goes home at night and says to himself "I came back for THIS SHIT?"

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 02:18 (twelve years ago)

They aren't gonna trade him. A 4 or 5 isn't worth it. He's the only thing they got right now.

Matt Schaub shut down his twitter last week

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 05:20 (twelve years ago)

I read that he actually shut it down in January after it was reported that he shut it down last week.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 05:22 (twelve years ago)

ugh apparently some angry fans showed up at his house

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 05:55 (twelve years ago)

Schaub has been a really good starting qb for five(?) seasons in Houston, and after a less than stellar end of last season and beginning of this one they turn on him? These people remember David Carr, right?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 06:04 (twelve years ago)

David Carr 2002–2006 75 22 53 0 .293

Matt Schaub 2007–present 66 34 32 0 .515

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 06:08 (twelve years ago)

the Houston football psyche is very unstable. They're still not over that Bills-Oilers game.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 07:03 (twelve years ago)

I think you're kinda sugarcoating the disastrous nature of Schaub's last 6 or 7 games though.

brady: "If we score six points this weekend, we probably won’t win." yeah probably. i think New England has to score over 24 to beat the saints. i don't see it. i'm gonna miss the game sunday but if i have to miss one, i'm not too sad about it being this.

i have a weird feeling the bears will lose at home to the giants tomorrow and all of a sudden they will be 3-3 after starting 3-0, and in some kind of crisis.

lions vs cleveland will be interesting for sure, i can't really see detroit not winning but what if they don't...

the money half of the afc west will continue roll. chargers might force a shoot out against the colts, that would be fun mnf. DC vs cowboys is a surprising primetime game. hey that might even be interesting, i wonder if dallas's defense will be back from their bye week.

some turd on the slate too. after early season overexposure for both, eagles at bucs will be the 1pm game redzone forgets about.

Texans are stuck in that same spot when Delhomme just fell apart a few years ago, they really don't have any other options that really is an improvement at this point. That said, I would not be surprised if Schaub turns around, his completion percentage is still pretty good, it's more about just keeping from throwing pick sixes.

Peyton Manning has had some runs like that where he was throwing quite a few TDs to the opposition, including a weird spell the year before he got hurt. You chuck it around 40+ times a game, it can happen.

The thing as a fan you don't really know is how many of those picks was because the receiver did something stupid and Schaub was throwing a timing pass to a spot. That happens quite a bit in the modern passing game with all the timing patterns etc.

johnny crunch, Thursday, 10 October 2013 15:29 (twelve years ago)

Last week 10-4, season 53-24

Giants at Bears- I'm going Bears but I don't feel solid on it.
Bengals at Bills- Bengals should win, but they sometimes play stupid enough to lose. They got to win these type games.
Lions at Browns- Wow, this is kind of a pickem. I got a feeling the Lions have more firepower, but picking Detroit to win on the road is just dicey. I'm going to go Cleveland and just hope their D can contain Detroit's passing game.
Packers at Ravens- I'll take the Packers, but they are starting to get banged up as B-more seems to be figuring it out.
Panthers at Vikings- Vikings
Rams at Texans- Houston to win, as I think they will move the ball well against the Rams.
Raiders at Chiefs- Chiefs but I hope the Raiders knock them off. Chiefs/Raiders in Arrowhead is usually an entertaining game.
Steelers at Jets- This game is a trap. Jets have had some success, but the Steelers are coming off a bye. Pittsburgh to win.
Eagles at Buccanners- Eagles are knicked up and going with a backup QB, but I got a feeling the Bucs are pretty damn close to going into operation shutdown mode on their head coach. Philly.
Jaguars at Broncos- Broncos. I got a feeling the Jags will play over their heads and it will be closer than you think. They always got up to play Indy when Peyty was there. Of course, J-ville also had one of the best defensive lines in football back then too and Indy could never stop the run.
Titans at Seahawks- Seahawks
Saints at Patriots- I'm picking Saints, but I got a feeling those tricky Pats will somehow win.
Cardinals at 49ers- Niners, but I wonder at what point does the passing inefficiency become a real problem.
Washington at Cowboys- Dallas should win. What the heck happened to D'sr defense last week? They got freakin' shredded. I think Washington was somewhat a scheduling fluke last year, they don't look that good to me on either side of the ball.
Colts at Chargers- Colts should win, but at least with the old QB Indy had problems every time they played the Chargers. Colts games against Seattle and SF were really, really impressive. Kind of a bummer they lost Bradshaw, as he was fitting in pretty good in what they were doing.

I got to say, the whole Thursday game is a bummer in some ways, as it just comes too quick every week for many people to do picks etc.

I think intentional grounding judgement calls are the sketchiest part of NFL officiating

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 11 October 2013 02:49 (twelve years ago)

This is a poorly officiated game.

Mordy , Friday, 11 October 2013 03:11 (twelve years ago)

while Peyton's putting up a season's worth of TDs in less than half a season, Eli's doing the same with INTs

Neanderthal, Friday, 11 October 2013 03:13 (twelve years ago)

couldn't have gonna much better really. give em a little hope an then snatch it away with yet another turnover.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 11 October 2013 03:13 (twelve years ago)

as funny as that is you really can't put that one on Eli

frogbs, Friday, 11 October 2013 03:13 (twelve years ago)

unfortunately the record of 42 INTs in a season is probably out of reach
