you could make a reasonable case for every visiting team winning, with the possible exception of minnesota

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 12 November 2013 23:23 (eleven years ago)

Not sure Atlanta has another win in them this year.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 November 2013 23:33 (eleven years ago)

no they just don't look like hey can score pts rn

Last week 8-6, season 100-47

Colts @ Titans – Wow, the Colts just look a bit tired and beat up. I still got to think Indy wins this one though.
Jets @ Bills – I’ll take the Jets, but I don’t trust them.
Ravens @ Bears – This is a pickem game. Probably fugly. I’ll take Chicago at home.
Browns @ Bengals – These games go either way. I’ll take the Bengals at home.
Raiders @ Texans – Both of these teams are a mess. I’ll go with the Texans.
Cards @ Jags – Cards
Chargers @ Dolphins – I don’t like either club, but I will take the Chargers.
Wash. @ Philly – Eagles, as they seem to be on a bit of a roll.
Lions @ Steelers – Lions
Falcons @ Bucs – I’d think Atlanta, but who knows.
KC @ Denver – This is the big one. Wow…I guess Denver in a nailbiter.
Niners @ Saints – Another interesting game, I’ll take SF.
Vikings @ Seattle – Seahawks at home.
Pack @ Giants – Wow the Pack are beat up. I’ll take them to win though.
NE @ Carolina – Another interesting matchup…I’ll still take the Pats.

earlnash, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 03:07 (eleven years ago)

i'd be surprised if KC/Denver was a nailbiter. peyton is still playing right?

Mordy , Wednesday, 13 November 2013 04:12 (eleven years ago)

On two bad ankles. And an upper spine that could probably still turn loose of his head at any moment.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 06:00 (eleven years ago)

i am excited to see what the chiefs defense does in this game, but peyton is definitely playing at a level right now where you have to score a certain number of points to beat him, and that is not really the kc gameplan. they are going to have to do something special to limit the damage. they could do worse than go back and watch the '10 superbowl.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 11:53 (eleven years ago)

If any team was capable of doing it, its the one they are about to play.

yup. i don't think kc is as good as sd, but this is a terrible terrible matchup for denver's offense. if manning stays in though, i sorta don't see how denver doesn't get 30 pts. that'll be hard for dilfer to do afaict.

all i can say is that if kc wins a superbowl this year i will be furious

what if they make it to the superbowl but lose due to clock management issues

idk if niners can put up enough points to withstand a brees assault.

Packers tight end Jermichael Finley will undergo spinal cord fusion surgery, according to his agent

polyphonic, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 21:23 (eleven years ago)

that's what peyton had right? so he'll be out a long while if he comes back at all. horrible.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 21:25 (eleven years ago)

Yeah, he'll be out indefinitely. And I think his kids and family will probably sway him from returning (they'd already said as much with his previous injury).

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 22:26 (eleven years ago)

part of me is hoping he doesn't try to come back, as much as it sucks given how well he was playing before he got hurt!

frogbs, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 22:37 (eleven years ago)

I'm curious to see what KC will do this weekend against Denver. I'd probably be thinking more KC if it was in Arrowhead, as that place gets real noisy but the game is in Denver. KC's got some talent on defense, especially at linebacker. That said, they haven't played any of the high powered passing games except Dallas, who it seems they were able to keep the big play from happening. They got the Chargers and then the Broncos again at home the two next weeks, so this is a big three weeks for KC.

earlnash, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 22:54 (eleven years ago)

Todd Christensen had a great set of hands. The guy had a couple of 90+ catch seasons when that was a really crazy thing to do. I remember watching him on the Tom Flores era Raiders teams.

This was really good. lots to relate to there. when I first saw those text messages and voicemails from Incognito I thought that it really wasn't much different to things people have said to me (if you replace the n-word with "dirty Jew"). Some people just seemed to get off on being nasty on the field (but are generally nice otherwise) while others are a little more sinister, the type with the same kind of upbringing as this guy, who are told from birth to go sock someone in the mouth. I'm guessing there are guys like Incognito at all levels of football, and maybe a bunch more in the military too. Football just seems to harbor that sort of thing. You really can't even make it through a full practice without getting pissed at somebody.

lolz how did Spergon Wynn get on there

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:23 (eleven years ago)

hmm

Minnesota Vikings

Following the 2000 season, September 3, 2001, Wynn was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, along with RB Travis Prentice, in exchange for draft picks in the 2002 and 2003 NFL drafts. Wynn was a third string backup to Daunte Culpepper and Todd Bouman in the 2001 and 2002 seasons and played in the last three games of the 2001 season, starting two of them. This was due to season-ending injuries to both Culpepper and Bouman.

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:25 (eleven years ago)

I remember being mad at Spergon Wynn for not beating the Ravens in the season finale in 2001, because if he had, my Dolphins would have played the Seahawks in the wild card match instead of the Ravens, which would have been a better matchup for us.

Lesbian has fucking riffs for days (Neanderthal), Friday, 15 November 2013 00:27 (eleven years ago)

i dunno, randy might be thinking of the great Todd Bouman. lord who is Todd Bouman, a name that does not ring any bells?

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:35 (eleven years ago)

ha! i remember throwing a fit because the Colts started Jim Sorgi in the 2nd half and resting Manning in week 16 when the Browns needed a Colts victory to go to the playoffs in 07

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:38 (eleven years ago)

Jim Sorgi!

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:39 (eleven years ago)

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:41 (eleven years ago)

don't get me started on jim sorgi

brownie, Friday, 15 November 2013 00:45 (eleven years ago)

Todd Bouman was Culpepper's backup. I remember he got a few starts. god QBs were so bad in that day and age that when Alex Van Pelt did pretty good in relief of Rob Johnson one year they were about to make him an extension offer and make him the starter until Bledsoe became available.

gronk had no chance of coming back through two players for that pass. it might have been PI but only on the strictest technicality so ehhhhhh, panthers won it rightfully imo

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:44 (eleven years ago)

i think it is okay not to call the foul but once the flag went down picking it up is a bad look when there is any doubt. it just makes the game seem like it was decided by the officials and it was too good a game for that. i hope that isn't the storyline out of the game.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:44 (eleven years ago)

broncos-cowboys was pretty massive, saints-niners was pretty good/controversial last week

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:45 (eleven years ago)

maybe it's not PI but I'm shocked it wasn't holding or illegal contact or something. kinda stupid to bear hug Gronk like that but I agree that Carolina deserved it

frogbs, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:46 (eleven years ago)

also I think it's hard to say whether or not Gronk would've had a play on the ball. he was held for a while.

frogbs, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:46 (eleven years ago)

hey now i watched the hatcats chargers game

man belichick is PISSED

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:47 (eleven years ago)

i don't think it will be the storyline much as espn will try.

i mean i know what the rules are but mostly i'm pissed that regardless of the throw kuechly's interference was unbelievably blatant, like could you even try to play legal pass defense?

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:47 (eleven years ago)

i love belichick's 'i saw what you saw' -> saying 'let the league explain it, this is bullshit' without actually saying it

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:48 (eleven years ago)

illegal contact and holding both have to be before the pass. and PI the ball has to be catchable, and in the circumstances you can't say for sure either decision would be wrong. but yeah changing the decision is the worst option.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 04:49 (eleven years ago)

fwiw i am gonna disagree and say that panthers didn't really deserve to win on the balance of play, but they are def a good team.

pats could easily sweep that remaining schedule tbh

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 05:31 (eleven years ago)

funny thing about getting the three seed from the pats perspective is that they'd be likely to face either the dolphins (rightfully no pats fan would think twice about the pats crushing miami) or the jets (every pats fan would be shitting his pants)

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 05:33 (eleven years ago)

there's a good chance neither miami or the jets makes it in. next week jets @ bmore is basically huge. ravens have 3 winnable games at home coming up that would get them to 7-6. and miami and the jets have to play each other twice yet.

but yeah, adding bmore to the mix does not help new england's cause. that is 3 potential matchups out of 4 (inc. kansas city) for their first playoff game where basically they need the opposition offense to lose the game. all for the eventual reward of being one score ahead at the start of the 4th quarter vs the broncos and then losing by 21 points.
