I hope Abb & DV weigh in on this.

I wouldn't be opposed to renaming Ask Chaki! to "MEGA WHOREHOUSE" either.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:20 (sixteen years ago) link
well nobody would, we don't need a poll for that
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 05:21 (sixteen years ago) link
Please note that the following posters have supported creation of The Church of ILX, (excluding some ambiguous mentions) while only J0rdan S. has expressed opposition:

― The Reverend, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:36 (sixteen years ago) link
i mean i outlined a bunch of points, if youre being serious why don't you respond to them? for your convenience i will reiterate them here:
a) if this is a serious religious board, do you really think that there are going to be enough serious religious questions and moral quandaries to sustain the board over a long period of time? b) if you guys are being serious, could this not be covered in a rolling thread? c) if this is not a serious religious board, how will it differ in humor from 77/noize/1p3/ire/cape of good hope?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:37 (sixteen years ago) link
im not waging war against the church of ilx or anything im just fishing around for what merits the creation of a sub board and what doesnt, cuz to me it seems like, as i said earlier, three (good) posters with one hair brained idea "supported" by a bunch of people who are being good sports.
im just assuming/predicting that it's going to turn into an ask a drunk type board within a few months and idk it's just a lot of clutter
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:41 (sixteen years ago) link
am i being a fun hater y/n?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:42 (sixteen years ago) link
It's a religious board encompassing both the serious and the unserious. I hope that answers your questions.
xp: y
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:46 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm sure a lot of the current active sub-boards started as three (or less!) good posters with a hare-brained idea.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:48 (sixteen years ago) link
currently
It should all be religious, in the loosest term of the word, ie instead of 'Pizza - classic or dud/search and destroy' it should be 'DOES GOD JUDGE ME WHEN I PUT PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA????'
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 09:12 (sixteen years ago) link
I don't care about Ask Chaki, I just like the Church idea.
Really I don't think we need any more boards but this one is actually funny.

More over-analytical, I think.
― Pashmina, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 09:31 (sixteen years ago) link
think jordan has a point though, over analytical or not.
how bout a board called Excelsior where people post stuff that made them laugh from other boards?
how bout a board called WDYLL where people post photos of themselves?
nothing against the idea, but is it really a 'board' by itself?
― darraghmac, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 09:45 (sixteen years ago) link
I don't really like the idea of the New Church being soiled by association with this Chaki fellow.

New board The Church plz!

I also like new incarnation of it being predestined name of The Church of ILX.

I ask for so little.
i will throw my support and funding behind the church assuming that i get indulgences.
jordan why are you trying to run a cost-benefit analysis on potential funny?

It's weird that for as much time as I spend on ILX, I miss big meta discussions like this. And also like wtf is the Cape of Good Hope. I'm guessing this is b/c I don't use Site New Answers.

I would like to request that if the name of Ask Chaki! is changed to The Church of ILX, that all existing Ask Chaki! treads be locked.

― The Reverend, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 08:08 (sixteen years ago) link
so we've gone from the suggestion of
- starting a new board
to
- renaming an unrelated, existing one
- replacing an unrelated, existing one and locking all existing threads.
three easy steps.
who's first to suggest deletion of all existing threads?
