I mean, if I remember correctly there was a big debate about secret boards when 77 started, and many people were against them, and no consensus was ever reached... So are secret boards now a fact set in stone?

Tuomas, the big problem here is that certain people posted stuff on 77 (not meta ILX stuff, but personal private info of whatever sort) with the understanding that it would not be made public/googlable/etc. as a result, it wouldn't be fair to make it public. if you (or others) are really opposed to a secret board existing, the only thing you could really try to argue for is just permanently locking it. if that isn't how far you're willing to push the issue, then there isn't really much left to discuss.

oh yeah also before it comes up, making the threads ungooglable isn't an answer, because some people don't want any random whoever registered to ILX to know this stuff either.
