You know, boards like Eye Love Sex, Aja/Dante, The Self Emancipation of the Working Class, etc... Can these threads still be found on ILX search, or are they lost forever? And why were the sub-boards deleted in the first place? If they were considered inactive, why not just let them be? It's not like I think this is a big issue or anything, but I'm kinda interested on a theoretical level.

To the best of my knowledge, no, unless they're viewable on archive.org or something.
My memory is that years ago, Andrew deleted all of the boards that had had no posts for a few months in one go, hence no more "the pointless profusion of board", "eye love sex" etc, then at a later date he deleted aja/dante for, er, whatever reason it was, I can't even remember now. I'm pretty sure it's all gone forever anyway.

At some point there was a function called "Show inactive boards", which allowed you to see the boards no one had posted for ages. I think it would've been better just to have that function than to destroy everything, but if it's gone it's gone, nothing to do about it. I assume, now that people can't create their own boards anymore, that even the inactive boards on the current site will be preserved somewhere?

I don't recall anyone advocating deletion of any sub-board, inactive or not. I would be against doing this, personally.

Andrew advocated it
