dayo, Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

he wasn't even SB'd, just falt-out banned by shook mods who didn't like that he did hilarious things with the oh-so-serious-and-important yellow card system

odd taran wild'n gang killam all (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

Jon was Del Monte Young and was banned on sight

odd taran wild'n gang killam all (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

Didn't he get banned because he fucked with the code? As in, something quite major?

He did like red pandas, though, that's a point in his favour.

On Thursday, the collective efforts of progressive Internet activists reached a critical mass - but in an entirely unexpected way. Green candidate David Cobb and Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik jointly announced their intentions to file a formal demand for a recount of the presidential ballots cast in Ohio - and called upon Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, a Republican who chaired the Ohio Bush campaign, to recuse himself from the recount process.

This announcement is political dynamite. John Kerry will get the unexpected and astonishing gift of a recount in Ohio. And because Ohio law is more specific than Florida law, that recount will be orderly and (hopefully) accurate, and the American people will find out who really won the election.

This is a huge victory for progressive Internet activists, for American Democracy - and possibly for President John Kerry.

aww c'mon give him another chance!

sarahel, Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

I like jon a lot and miss him as a poster on the board, so i think i can be pretty straight up and impartial mod here - its been made pretty clear by multiple peeps that did a lot of code heavy lifting that the last code trick he did was the last straw and they are permanently opposed to ever lifting the ban. like in a completely non-negotiable way. so sorry to bring the bad news, but i think this is pretty much never going to happen.

it is sad he was a condiment

Ass Mutha Temple (kkvgz), Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:29 (fourteen years ago)

jjj, who are these mysterious people and may i suggest ban them?

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

my guess at a short list would be ned, pash, stet, and keith

I like jon a lot, he brought great energy to the board, but dude a) had a lot of warnings not to fuck w/ site code and tho I truly don't think he'd ever do anything malicious b) there was sometimes a weird undercurrent of hostility in his stunts which c) understandably makes the volunteer ppl trying to keep the site stable and running nervous

love u whiney but if u hack into the servers you'll get shook too

Dude never seemed really apologetic about it to me either.

Lock thread, before this turns into a meaningless debate

i pl0p bombs like hiroshima (San Te), Thursday, 3 February 2011 16:43 (fourteen years ago)

why should he have to apologize for good jokes?

"Sorry that thing i did with the yellow cards was so funny and awesome and cool guys"
