i have learned that the gearing on my road bike just is not suited at all to the hills around here. i dumped all of them into my granny and was still having to stand on the pedals while my pals were happily spinning away at 95rpm

biking is hard :(

shoulder pain on one side only... what could be cause of that? stem too long? saddle-to-bar drop too high? odd it's on one side (left) only

any ideas?

Don't know, but I've been suffering knee pain on one side (left) only. It keeps clicking when I properly extend my leg.

Finally calculated it - March was 334 miles for me

My knees have clicked like a hipster at a jazz club since I was a teenager.

Gbx does Hurricane mtn Rd still exist because I did that in 1990 and it was steep.

The best thing about eastern mtns was that 'wtf is a switchback' spirit.

i've got big-boy gears on my road bike (53/39 up front and i think the biggest cog is 25t?) and that was fine in minnesota and really not that fine out here. tryna decide if i should just flip the road bike and put the money into my heavy but dependable cross check

Just 242 for April. Too much work on, can only get out once a week nowadays.

I'm not even on 500 for the year yet. Fucking knee. Still no hills. Manage maybe 40 a week at the moment - about 10-15 commuting and then maybe 25 at the weekend pulling the trailer normally.

342 for May. It's my half-term break this week so I'd been hoping to get a few rides in, but the weather is shite (40mph winds and heavy rain yesterday, no sun forecast until Sunday). 128 for May, lowest since I spent August in the hospital. Not much comment other than I fear I'm ending biking? Probably not totally, but ~effectively~?

Sort of off topic, but affecting my bike attitude is the Broeckx thing, which is so sad, and really close to home. Was so hoping they wouldn't need to craney him, which I am guessing was the pressure reduction. I was trying to get Dutch news and Google's translation rendered the headline to be "Broeckx undergoes double lobotomy" and I was just "!!!!??"

164 for June. Not even on 1,000 for the year yet. I did kick a football at physio for the first time this morning though, and that felt good, and did 25 miles with some steady climbing yesterday morning at a decent tempo. I'm getting there.

327 for June. Lots of social rides and coincidental reunions on the road, it's been fun.

284 in July, my biggest monthly total since June 2015. I'll take that. Significant chunk of it was 90 miles done in one weekend when Em and Nora were away.

I clocked up 539 for July up to the 26th and then spent the best part of two weeks off the bike - just got back from holiday in France.

Another big month, 524 for August (and that's after zero miles in the first 8 days of the month)

261 last month. I have a feeling I will find that difficult to match this month; two weekends away and less favourable weather...

I did 302 for September. Only just realised that the month has changed: I wasn't able to ride for more than two weeks because of illness and stuff. Back out today and felt substantially less fit already.

only 227, mtb taking it's toll on mileage and time. Like every mtb ride involves 30-60 mins of driving that could otherwise be riding. it's bullshit, but built into the system.
