I lust over anything lighter, faster, nicer and around £300

cozwn, Monday, 21 September 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

are these the bikes that replaced the scr series?

cozwn, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 10:33 (sixteen years ago)

Yup. This model you can get new for £550 so I wouldn't go for this one in particular.

Mark C, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 10:58 (sixteen years ago)

nah, I'm not gonna drop £500 on a bike. my tentative budget is £300. was reading on bikeradar and they said the best beginner road bikes were the decathlon b'twin sport and giant scr4. I'll keep my eye on ebay

cozwn, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 11:02 (sixteen years ago)

I don't understand that lugged Bianchi $5000 thing. If you have $5000 and want a super pretty bike couldn't you just get a custom frame and build it up how you like?

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 18:07 (sixteen years ago)

Me either, that gets you a titanium IF with a custom paint job.

also: not ugly

holosystolic murmur and the thrill (gbx), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 15:16 (sixteen years ago)

OK so it is only $3,300, which only gets you a steel IF. but $3,300 is a lot to pay for a bike with campag veloce.

Mornington Crescent (Ed), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 15:25 (sixteen years ago)

incidentally i've been checking out the IF website - i could go me one of those.

£1800 for that Charge frame. Nice though - maybe the prettiest titanium bike I've seen lately.

Mark C, Tuesday, 29 September 2009 10:27 (sixteen years ago)

went into a bike shop yesterday for the first time just to check how much lighter these fancy bikes are than my current bike... oh my days! so light

cozwn, Tuesday, 29 September 2009 10:32 (sixteen years ago)

I can pick up my bike with my little finger (and my little finger is a particularly weak example of little fingers).

Mark C, Tuesday, 29 September 2009 13:22 (sixteen years ago)

i can pick up ir8 with block and tackle

surge gainsbourg protector (haitch), Tuesday, 6 October 2009 04:08 (sixteen years ago)

The crime is not the price but the fact that it is made for Campag (specifically athena)

Mornington Crescent (Ed), Tuesday, 6 October 2009 11:57 (sixteen years ago)

cozwn (webinar), Monday, 12 October 2009 23:24 (sixteen years ago)

hunt3r i think it sneaks thru the 3:1 rule by having the brake mounted to that head tube bulkhead thing - they can argue it's there for structural reasons
