Do people get even half as excited about it as they do about the TdF? Please post news, updates, thoughts and comments on who's doping here!

― cutty, Friday, 9 May 2008 13:47 (seventeen years ago)
I exciteds too, there is an ILE thread on this too. I am most excited about stage 16, I think it is, the all climbing time trial with the 24% gradients.

― cutty, Saturday, 10 May 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)
I know I'm a cheapskate, but does anyone know of any free streams for the Giro?
― Mark C, Sunday, 11 May 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)
ohshit Zabriskie out :(
― wilter, Monday, 12 May 2008 03:33 (seventeen years ago)
THe Rai stream is apparently worldwide and free:

― Ed, Monday, 12 May 2008 06:05 (seventeen years ago)
Alternatively:
http://www.giroditalia.rai.it/
although the stream is not working for me but that may just be because of our awful net connection here at work.
― Ed, Monday, 12 May 2008 10:35 (seventeen years ago)
tears for z--he is my favorite :(
― cutty, Monday, 12 May 2008 11:24 (seventeen years ago)
Slight anticlimax at the end there but at least the Italian won :) Several race-ending crashes today, by the sound of it - Bradley McGee has been taken to hospital and Ricco may have to pull out with a hand injury.
― Mark C, Monday, 12 May 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
Did the stream work for you?
― Ed, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
Yup, pretty much perfectly.
― Mark C, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
Thanks very much, sorry for not thanking you before.
― Mark C, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
No worries, I justed wanted to know as it was a complete bust in my office.
― Ed, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)
couldnt get rai to work yestiday
― Hunt3r, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:55 (seventeen years ago)
too bad for millar. i didnt realize that the 3km rule applied to broken chains, i thot it was just crashes.
yknow the joke about how ppl tend to say that things were best when they were 27 y/o? thats the way i feel about cycling drivetrains. 10 spds seem fragile and they wear out fast. 9 fuckin speeds bitches!
― Hunt3r, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
After looking at the chainthat Mr. Millar broke today, the mechanics are plain dumbfounded. It didn’t break on the pin, but right in the middle of the link.

― wilter, Thursday, 15 May 2008 03:00 (seventeen years ago)
Wonder what the odds are of an Italian winning the whole Giro?
― Mark C, Thursday, 15 May 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
100%
― cutty, Thursday, 15 May 2008 16:53 (seventeen years ago)
put yr money down folks, its itt #1.
is savoldelli secretly super fit and winning shit this year? hes at 5-1 to win.
i think the favorite is my favorite too, Kloeden.
― Hunt3r, Monday, 19 May 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah I like Kloden.
And, even though I don't like him particularly, I hope McEwen gets a stage.

Here's a picture of stage 10 winner Marzio Bruseghin with a donkey.

― Mark C, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 14:52 (seventeen years ago)
Excellent. Can you post one of Mark Cavendish with a monkey next?
― Nasty, Brutish & Short, Wednesday, 21 May 2008 18:12 (seventeen years ago)
does cavendish raise monkeys?
― Hunt3r, Wednesday, 21 May 2008 18:17 (seventeen years ago)
Fuck me, Cavendish can sprint.
― Mark C, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)
OMG he got an enormous bag full of parmesan for winning, lucky sod.
I really, really enjoyed watching the teams jockeying for position over the last 10km of today's stage. Surprised Liquigas and High Road were once again allowed to dominate at the front. Great work from the domestiques.
― Mark C, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
Blimey. A British (?) rider winning TWO STAGES in a major tour. This never happens. Get that monkey picture now.
― Nasty, Brutish & Short, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)
betting you see a lot more of that for years to come

That fucker Contador is going to win it. All the others are jousting and he's pulling away, a few seconds at a time. Assuming he won the Tour clean, he's got to be a huge favourite now.
― Mark C, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)
Assuming he won the Tour clean
Do we assume that?
― Nasty, Brutish & Short, Monday, 26 May 2008 22:59 (seventeen years ago)
winning the giro on short notice... easy
― cutty, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)
I don't really know. I'm never sure what to assume. It's certainly more satisfying if you assume a level playing field for everyone, and he has never tested positive, and it's only hearsay (and the "incriminating" initials "AC" in a Puerta document) that he might not be. The alternatives are to assume he wasn't clean in the tour but is now, which means he might not have the stamina to win, or assume he was doping before and is still doping, in which case he's presumably bulletproof, but now we have far too many variables which indicate he either will or won't win the tour. Which is no help :)
― Mark C, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 11:18 (seventeen years ago)
Greipel and Cavendish. Absolute fucking genius. Smiling like a loon.
― Mark C, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)
shit aint over. i seem to be seeing stuff like its contador's barring catastrophe...
― Hunt3r, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)
1. Contador 2. Ricco' at 4" 3. Di Luca at 21"
Exciting!!
― Mark C, Friday, 30 May 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)
wish i could see this stage, live reports sounded amazing
― Hunt3r, Friday, 30 May 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
“What I’d like to ask Sella and (Domenico) Pozzovivo if they’d thought they would win the Giro? Contador always finds someone like that who helps him. No one ever helps me,” said Riccò, who unleashed an angry Italian curse at the summit. “They should have stayed on Contador’s wheel and let him pull. People have been saying that Contador is stronger than me on the climbs, but as far as I can remember, I’ve dropped him on ever summit finish."
what a show. boy he really comes across as a jerk tho.
