“Bikepack” the eclipse?

I am so determined to make this happen, have been since 2/23 yet cannot seem to figure exactly how intend to do.

For a minute I wanted to fly to Durango Mex and ride west from there for best weather, but it’s not gonna happen.

Now it looks like TX hill country. It’s TX tho, public campsites are v scarce, and were reserved months ago. I do fear a trampling shitshow. I did find one private rental tent site so far. Hm.

And could I ride from CO? Lol it’s 900mi it’d take too long. Should I drive to an in between site, then ride, like from Trinidad? What even is West Texas. Fly to Austin or SA and circle a bit?

Should I even bring my bivvy or tent, or just look for rooms? Ride back or fly?

Cmon who’s up for it from this graveyard?

Good luck to you. The few places I've bikepacked in the US have all had walkin bike camping spots, but I don't know how common that is beyond basically CA Hwy 1.

Not sure I would bike in Texas? Indiana even might be less bike hostile?
