interactions w/ motorists

Today while riding to meet some friends, I was cut off by a guy in an Audi. He didn't signal, and I had to jam on the brakes and swerve almost into the curb (I was on a bridge) to avoid running into him. I yelled "asshole" at him. Traffic was very backed up so he stopped soon after, right in front of me. As I passed, he yelled something back at me. Being the hardman I am, I hopped off the bike, threw it down on the sidewalk, and went right up in his window to see what he had for me.

He said "You're too dark, I couldn't see" (never mind that this was in broad daylight) and "you need a light". I asked him what the fuck any of that mattered if he didn't use his turn signal. Then he started calling me an asshole and a motherfucker. I repeated "use your turn signal, assface, and get your eyes checked" and then (and I'm most proud of this part) spit on the ground in front of me, eatstern-european style.

Then I walked back and picked up my shit and carried on. Bastard didn't ever pass me.

So what pleasant experiences have you had with drivers?

I try to avoid confrontations with motorists. It's hard sometimes, but every negative interaction I've had with motorists has just left me feeling like shit and accomplished nothing.

haha i got in a massive slanging match with a bus driver a few weeks ago. was hilarious, plus i'd been in a terrible mood beforehand and felt much much better afterwards.

I was waiting for this really hot girl to make this turn from a side street in front of me, I smiled and tried to wave her in, she was all screaming out the window "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY JACKASS". I loled.

Take yr freaking turn already, making exceptions for people out-of-turn only confuses things.

Well I was already stopped is the thing.

I shouted at a student cyclist while I was on foot at lunchtime. He was riding one bike and pushing another on a very narrow, very busy path through a graveyard. People coming the other kept having to stop so he could get past and he was so immobile that he had a queue of pedestrians behind him. I said something like, "this is ridiculous, get off your fucking bike" and he turned round and grinned at me like he'd just gotten into a funny situation through no fault of his own, and carried on cycling. Fuckwit.

Sorry for derail.

I got really, really irate with some overweight dude who wasn't going at all quickly but had an allergy to red lights (which he approached blind, with people crossing). I had a bit of the old internet hardman rage but calmed down sufficiently to not have a go at him. 8 hours later, I am almost calm.

And by "had an allergy" you mean he broke into coughing & choking fits? Broke out in a rash? Had to use his epi-pen??

I wasn't on my bike, but this morning I whacked the wing mirror of a cab who refused to stop (at a zebra crossing with a dozen people waiting) but managed to catch a fellow pedestrian with my follow through :(
