front and rear LEDs two multi tools pocket rocket pump packed up goretex jacket adjustable spanner (if on the Raleigh) tube (if on the Raleigh or surly) tufo repair gunge (if on the merckx)

― Ed, Friday, 25 January 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)
I love the under saddle bag, it is basically my grab bag, I can squeeze in chocolate an powerbars and even an extra top and do a day ride on the contents of it. (plus maybe a bit more food in the rear pockets of the top).
― Ed, Friday, 25 January 2008 00:17 (seventeen years ago)

I went to the pub last night, and despite chaining my bike up on the other side of the road immediately opposite where we were sitting, it still took me 5 minutes to unclip all the accoutrements on my bike. But then Chelsea IS a pretty rough neighbourhood.

Remind me why wearing a rucksack when cycling is a bad idea?
― Mark C, Friday, 25 January 2008 16:42 (seventeen years ago)
i just don't like having a sweaty back and if im going more than 5 miles id much rather have the bike do the work of carrying stuff.
ppl will argue backpack raises center of gravity or makes you less agile probly. i don't agree unless yr carrying rather a lot in there.
― Hunt3r, Friday, 25 January 2008 16:46 (seventeen years ago)
Raised centre of gravity gives you more lateral stability, though? I don't have panniers and stuff and a backpack doesn't seem to make a negative difference (except in simple weight terms) so I guess I'll keep using one.

On bike: 1 blinky In bag: lube, tire levers, air pressure gauge, patch kit, U-lock, shop rag, small adjustable wrench
Conclusion: not very gear
― Laurel, Friday, 25 January 2008 19:36 (seventeen years ago)
air pressure gauge
cmon, TOTALLY gear :)
― Hunt3r, Friday, 25 January 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)
It's cos I always end up filling the tires at like gas stations where there's no meter on the hose.

(Plain old Schrader valves making my life easier here.)

I wd like a rack, I think. Can't decide on rear or one of those Cetma ones for the front.
― Laurel, Friday, 25 January 2008 21:31 (seventeen years ago)
id go cetma for shorter hops and frequent stops, they look great for that. never used one tho.
― Hunt3r, Friday, 25 January 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)
guy i know works downtown with a CETMA and swears by it.
― gbx, Friday, 25 January 2008 22:04 (seventeen years ago)
Cetma racks look high quality, but they sure are expensive.
