Does Australia LOOK like a top ODI side

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 11:59 (seventeen years ago)

lol Warner btw, he was looking really good

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

Also, is this the same Johan Botha whom Ricky Ponting *utterly destroyed* in that Test run-chase about 3 years back? In a sort of "he will never play international cricket again" way?

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:01 (seventeen years ago)

That 60 of his last Friday was more impressive considering it was 38 degrees at the SCG. I spent half that innings putting on six layers of sunblock and sculling two $3.90 bottles of water. Oh, and sitting in front of blokes shouting out "CUM STEYN! SEMEN STEYN!".

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

btw wb big man

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

OUCH

Two big men, there

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:04 (seventeen years ago)

I'm kinda stoked for Warner's international career. He's the Ajantha Mendis of 2009.

Still can't quite comprehend that after this mammoth tour there's an entire 2nd leg to go before the English summer.

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:07 (seventeen years ago)

After backing it up and going to watch the Grand Final of the State Twenty20 KFC Big Bash at the Olympic Stadium last Saturday, I'm more stoked for World Twenty20 more than anything else. That night proved to me that it's The People's Game and that means a free ticket home before they forgot to keep on any ticket attendants at Olympic Park Station. THE PEOPLE'S GAME!!

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:09 (seventeen years ago)

Kinda want every Twenty20 ever to be called a "KFC Big Bash"

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:11 (seventeen years ago)

Tell you what. The ODI at the SCG had streakers and epic beer snakes but only the KFC Twenty20 State Big Bash (won off the last ball by the mighty New South Wales RTA Speedblitz Blues) at the Olympic Stadium had a wacky Benny Hill-esque chase scene over a beachball.

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

Wasn't it won by the keeper who they were planning on dropping for McCullum, but then had a heart and changed their mind?

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:18 (seventeen years ago)

Yes!

Apart from playing The Vengabus three times over the PA, the highlight of the notice was the bloke on the PA announcing that if anyone in the stands caught a McCullum six, they'd win $1000.

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:20 (seventeen years ago)

lol he was only ever gonna get out cheaply after that

One of the best cricketing moments of the decade: Gilly's double-hundred against SA, by the end of which he was actually aiming his slog-sweeps at a small board which if struck would win him a car

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:22 (seventeen years ago)

Still missing the imperial era of the Mercantile Mutual Cup with six boards sitting around the ground that could win the batter a meat tray or somesuch if struck.

Skank Bloc Burwood (King Boy Pato), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:25 (seventeen years ago)

Preferably borne onto the field of play on a drinks trolley by some lowly vassal and then slowly eaten in front of the entire opposition side while the umpires idly chatter

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:30 (seventeen years ago)

some lowly vassal = Dermot Reeve, obvs

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:32 (seventeen years ago)

wtf "Vodacom Super 14"

I think my computer's had enough of streaming both the cricket and the tennis simultaneously tbqfh

Maximilian G. Neuchrist (country matters), Friday, 30 January 2009 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

They had a giant Powerade bottle come out during drinks at the ODI and I had flashbacks of the 1996 World Cup.
