Think about how the typewriter's roll moves (the old fashioned mechanical one that rings a bell at the end of each line and has to be returned to the start of the line). Imagine that roll is the cob o' corn - that's the typewriter method.

surm, but if you eat corn in the lathe method it's like sisyphus rolling a rock up the hill. you just keep turning and turning. the typewriter method allows you a little victory ding at the end of each row. that's like 5-10 victory/accomplishment parties per ear, depending on how you eat. i would think you would be well excited about that many celebrations.
