this is ok actually! spreads well, perfect for toast i think. BUT i question its usefulness on other non-toasted bread types. will the nation embrace such a focused spread???

easily-led zeppelin (haitch), Saturday, 18 July 2009 13:58 (fifteen years ago)

the flavour hasn't got the real bite of when, say, you put a big hunk on. ppl who love that probably need not apply here.

easily-led zeppelin (haitch), Saturday, 18 July 2009 13:59 (fifteen years ago)

also needs to be refridgerated once opened... can imagine many could leave it out and have it go bad.

oh man i think i'm a convert here

challop matters (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 19 July 2009 10:26 (fifteen years ago)

they're not planning on replacing the original with this are they? they wouldn't dare, right?

worm? lol (J0hn D.), Sunday, 19 July 2009 13:11 (fifteen years ago)

i don't think they would dare, i expect they want us eating both. i peered at the ---mite yesterday and thought about buying some but then i decided not to but now i think i will.

estela, Sunday, 19 July 2009 13:22 (fifteen years ago)

Quite frankly, the rumours that it Vegemite + Cream Cheese has put me off from buying it forever.

If they decide to replace the original, it would start a Civil War.

King Boy on Parole (King Boy Pato), Friday, 21 August 2009 12:40 (fifteen years ago)

Vegemite and cheese

During the 1990s, Kraft released a product in Australia known as Vegemite Singles. It combined two of Kraft's major products into one. The product consisted of Kraft Singles with Vegemite added, thus creating Vegemite-flavoured cheese. This extension of the Vegemite product line was an attempt by Kraft to capitalise on the enormous popularity of Vegemite and cheese sandwiches (made by placing a slice of cheese into a Vegemite sandwich). Vegemite Singles were later taken off the market, possibly due to poor sales.

nu-Vegemite needs to go the way of Vegemite Singles imo, I say this without 1) having tasted nu-vegemite and 2) without having any intention of tasting nu-vegemite

Spy in the Cab Sav (Trayce), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 05:06 (fifteen years ago)

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE.
Kraft has blown it in this household, all their products have already been dumped, NO MORE Kraft products in my house, ever.
And as to their stockpile of product, very simple boys and girls......... dump it!

Shamu D-S has been slutting it up all over the bulletin boards; thank goodness for internet articles & comments sections, so much more immediately gratifying than sending an angry letter to the editor.

Regardless of Krafts' intention I (a grumpy old baby boomer) have removed all Kraft products from my home.
A pointless exercise maybe, biting my nose off to spite my face.... definitely, but, enough is enough. Kraft have insulted me and for that matter I would venture to say insulted many Australians so if nothing else I have the personal satisfaction of a metaphorical "UP YOURS" to Kraft and the num-nuls that thought of or should I say approved this "Titanic Hindenburg" of a product launch.

three months pass...

Well, good ol' Vegemite has gotten halal certification...oh sorry, I meant that "Vegemite becomes politically correct ".

more like Goldblapp (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 24 January 2010 08:41 (fifteen years ago)

Muslim leaders have congratulated Kraft for introducing the labels, but Family Council of Victoria secretary Bill Muehlenberg questioned the company's motives.

"This is a private company trying to make money," Mr Muehlenberg said. "I don't think they care a rip about offending the tastebuds of Muslims.

"Why do we have to keep bending over backwards to please minority groups? There are only 300,000 Muslims in Australia out of 22 million people, which is a very small percentage.

"Of course, there's a case for making allowances for different cultures, but aren't we getting a bit carried away with political correctness here? It's ridiculous."

Mr Muehlenberg feared the halal labelling was also a sign of "Islamisation" of western countries.

"We're already seeing sharia law courts operating in Britain," he said. "Where does it end?

more like Goldblapp (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 24 January 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)

Yep - today, they're putting a halal label on a jar of Vegemite. Tomorrow, they're making women wear the hijab on Cronulla Beach!

more like Goldblapp (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 24 January 2010 08:44 (fifteen years ago)

Also: complaining about a private business pandering to the whims of a minority group then fearing that this minority group of 300,000 is going to bring Sharia Law to 21.7 million non-Muslims puts you deep into nutbag territory.

more like Goldblapp (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 24 January 2010 08:49 (fifteen years ago)
