whilst i haven't seen said sketch i doubt entirely that anything about it could be "a laugh"

Holy crap Ive just found a few friends (or at least acquaintances) of my social group that are actually defending the skit - or at least saying "people are overreacting, they meant no harm". I'm a little suprised and disappointed. So I said so on FB and now I have one of said friends getting all patronising and defensive and saying "now trayce, you have to understand not everyone has the same opinion as you". Oh shut up, woman. You think Pigbag are a jazz band wtf would you know.

OK, you know what? I'm as indignant and embarrased as the next person about this tiresome skit, but the US media's pompous reaction is next-level straight up vomitous.
On one of America's top-rating morning TV talkshows, The View, the skit was labelled "demeaning".
"We are in what people like to call post-racial America right now with (Barack) Obama in office," The View's co-host, Joy Behar, said on air.
"I'm not saying that it (racism) is gone, but we are trying to grow as a country and that's kind of a demeaning sketch that we would never do here anymore."
Behar also raised Australia's treatment of Aborigines.
"The Aborigines, they don't treat them very well," Behar said.
Another host on the show, Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg, added: "That's absolutely true."
Wow, can you sound any more up yourselves guys? Sticks out of eyes pls.

Latest 'the future of Hey Hey it's Saturday is in doubt' story in a series of 28,000 'the future of Hey Hey it's Saturday is in doubt' stories:
The future of Hey Hey it's Saturday is in doubt, with host and producer Daryl Somers addressing the programme's Facebook followers yesterday.Somers said the Nine Network is unlikely to renew the variety show, despite the possibility of something towards the end of the year.
Somers said the Nine Network is unlikely to renew the variety show, despite the possibility of something towards the end of the year.
"Both seasons were interrupted by Rugby (League) coverage and even though Nine agreed our figures were strong against the juggernaut of MasterChef and indeed extended our first season by three episodes, The Farmer Wants a Wife replaced us in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games."I believe had we been left on the Wednesdays, beyond the MasterChef season, we would have attracted a significant percentage of their audience to consolidate our position but we’ll never know the answer to that question. And besides we all enjoyed the return of the show to Saturdays."

I presume the article cut out just before he said 'oh and our show was shit as well, that's probably why we are a fucking waste of space'
