The other day the boy next door held my cat up by the tail. I thought I'd take his attention off the cat, so I asked him what he liked best in all the world. He told me, cake. I asked him didn't he like holding cats up by the tail? He said he did. He's a dear little chap. He said, 'Will you give me a piece of cake? Will you? Will you? Why won't you give me a piece of cake? Why won't you? Why won't you give me a piece of cake?' Now I'd always thought Wordsworth was wrong in that bit about the child being father of the man. But I'm not so sure. I've gone about asking people, don't they like cake better than anything else in all the world? And don't they like holding cats up by the tail? They were all quite nice people. They all said, what nonsense! None of them said he liked holding cats up by the tail, and they all mentioned lots of things they liked better than cake. Yet the strange thing was I got the idea that whatever they said they liked was only another form of cake. And something about them told me that none of them had properly grown out of holding cats up by the tail. Well, just between you and me have you never felt you'd like to hold a cat up by the tail? And never felt you'd like to be let loose in a cake-shop with the blinds down? It all seems to me pretty serious. How are we going to run a League of Nations if we can't take our minds off cake, and holding cats up by the tail? If you asked me I'd say that lots of people must say their prayers like that.'Will You give me a piece of cake? Will You? Will You? Why won't You give me a piece of cake? Why won't You? Why won't You give me a piece of cake?'

The last few days have been extremely busy and away from civilisation (well, away from internet access and GSM phone coverage anyway) - here's how it panned out.... Jan 31 - The Tongariro Crossing! http://www.thetongarirocrossing.co.nz/ The Tongariro Crossing is a challenging walk taking 7-8 hours covering a distance of 17 km one way. Often described as the best one day walk in New Zealand. This route provides an opportunity to experience some of the most scenic volcanically active areas of the park. The track runs the Mangatepopo Valley to the saddle between Tongariro and Ngauruhoe Mountains. It climbs to Red Crater (1886m), then drops down to the vivid Emerald Lakes. After passing the Green and Blue lakes the track sides around the northern slope of Tongariro, then descends in a zig zag to the Ketetahi Hut. Optionally, walkers may choose to ascend Ngauruhoe Summit - 2287m high, and described in the brochure as 'very challenging'. This awesome mountain has acheived further fame recently for it's part in the Lord of the Rings films - Mt Doom. The 2500 year old near perfect cone of Mount Ngauruhoe entices many visitors to it's summit. Relatively quiet since 1975, this parasitic cone of Mt. Tongariro is traditionally one of New Zealand s most active volcanos. This track is not for the faint hearted, a difficult climb or scramble up a sharp scree slope taking around an hour and a half up and 15 minutes down! Some of the best views to be had, but only to be challenged on a clear day. Let it just be said that having done the walk, including the climb to the summit, I was completely knackered... The full story may be revealed after suitable supply of alcohol - pictures will be available soonish... I took a whole slide film whilst on the walk - these should be on the website in two or three weeks time! Feb 1 - Taupo - River Valley Easy day - mainly spent travelling from Taupo to River Valley. Visited a pleasant waterfall and recovered from the previous days activities! Feb 2 - Rafting at River Valley White water rafting at River Valley - a grade 5 rafting river. Hair raising stuff even when the river is low. Still, an amazing adventure and strongly recommended to anyone visiting the area. http://www.rivervalley.co.nz/ Feb 3 - Wellington Dossed about in Wellington. How is the weather? I've seen reports on the BBC website that suggest that you lot are having a really fun time (not!) Have a good time down south if you make it and say hello to Louise for me! Speak to you soon! Love -Andy xxx

The POCKET DWELLERS began performing in and around Toronto in 1996 and have been developing an extremely diverse audience ever since. With hundreds of performances across Canada under their collective belt, these guys can entertain any audience. The POCKET DWELLERS have opened for a very wide range of different musical acts, including such notable performers as Maceo Parker, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Wide Mouth Mason, The Rascalz, Treble Charger, Clifford Gilberto (Ninja Tune), N'Dea Davenport, G. Love and the Special Sauce, Rahzel (The Roots), Ivana Santilli and jazz great Charlie Hunter. They have also performed at a broad range of festivals such as Edgefest, North by Northeast, Canadian Music Week, JVC Acid Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Jazz Festival, the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, the Du Maurier Atlantic Festival, the Hillside Festival, and the Dawson City Music Festival.
Earlier in 2000, the POCKET DWELLERS' ground breaking sound won the heart and mind of multi-Juno Award winning producer, Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Barenaked Ladies, Rheostatics, The Waltons), joining them in the studio and recording an album that captures the passion of their live show and the creativity of the collective. "DIGITALLY ORGANIC," the band's second album, captures the essence of much of the more popular contemporary sounds, while also exploring and stretching musical boundaries. "Instead of going into the studio and recording machine-made hip-hop beats, I play organic beats on a drum kit," says Marco Raposo, the group's drummer. "Though the norm right now is programmed sounds, we use a live element. We're creating synthetic music, but with organic roots."
The POCKET DWELLERS continue to steadily grow as musicians and to steadily win over audiences with their constant touring and incredible live performances. "Being eclectic allows us to draw from so many different facets of music," explains saxophonist Dennis Passley. "Like we're not just drawing from the funk crowd--we're drawing from hip-hop, jazz, rock and soul." And with a manifesto that reads "To change and blur the lines of music," the POCKET DWELLERS are poised to infuse and influence the music scene today, while rising to popular acceptance with their innovative music.

3. The ring of Gyges was found by a shepherd during a violent storm in which the ground broke open and created a giant chasm. In this pit was a corpse wearing a gold ring, which the shepherd took. He discovered that by turning the ring inwards, it would turn him invisible, and proceeded to use this power to seduce the king's wife, murder the king, and eventually overtake the kingdom. Glaucon brings up this story to refute Socrates's belief that people value justice as a virtue and instead they practice justice because they have no other option. Glaucon believes that, given the opportunity, people would practice injustice because injustice is more profitable than justice. The shepherd could've easily thrown away the ring, or used it for societal good, but instead he used it for personal gain.
5. Socrates asks everyone to imagine a large cave, where prisoners would be chained. There is barely any light in the cave, only enough to filter down to create shadows. Between the light and the prisoners would be a walkway, but the prisoners wouldn't be able to see these people—merely silhouettes. These silhouettes would be reality for these prisoners, as they have no other experience. If one of these men were to go above and see what is behind the images, they would become confused and not believe it to be a reality. Socrates is attempting to show society will believe that something is the truth when it is not, and also how difficult it is for people to admit that their perceptions were incorrect. This illustrates his theories on the form of knowledge. The prisoners in the cave have only their imaginations to fill in the blanks. As they rise up, they can start to see particular objects: instead of silhouettes, they can now comprehend that the silhouette is a table, or a dog. These first two levels are the Visible World. After more education, people can start to comprehend concepts, which will eventually lead to understanding of the forms, or perfected virtues. This is the Intelligible World.
7. Aristotle had strong distinctions between household management and wealth acquisition. A household had three separate relationships in them, based on need. There is the mastership relationship between the master and the servants, the matrimonial relationship between the husband and wife, and the procreative relationship between the father and children. Management of this household involved acquiring goods, such as servants, land, or food, and then using them. This collection of goods used in the administration of the household would be considered the wealth of the household. However, this form of wealth is only based upon what is necessary to successfully run the household and manage the relationships within it. It is a natural survival instinct. Wealth acquisition, in contrast, is unnatural as it goes beyond need. It is greed-based and doesn't directly further the relationships within the household. Translated to the city-state, which is basically a collection of households, this means trade. A city-state cannot indulge in trade with other city-states if it is only producing that which it needs to survive. Once it produces above and beyond necessity, it can sell its surplus to other municipalities and create more wealth.
11. To Machiavelli, modern religious institutions, while having certain principals he approved of, were detrimental because these institutions value concepts of humility, patience under suffering, loving thy neighbor, and turning the other cheek. These concepts render men weak. Turning the other cheek was not an option to Machiavelli. If someone hits you, hit him or her back. Humility in a republic leads not to glory and expansion but to the retention of the status quo. However, Machiavelli also understood that most people obey God more than they obey another man. He recommends the use of religion to give orders via "divine sanction," as a means to lure the people into love of their republic or principality. The prince must give the appearance of mercy, faith, integrity, and religion while still aiming at conquest behind closed doors. In essence, religion plays a part in this society not as a truth but as a means of social cement, holding the people together for purposes beneficial to the leaders.
12. Machiavelli approves of public accusations for a simple reason: it helps prevents attempts against the government. Public accusations are basically a version of a modern civil trial, in which any citizen is allowed to bring charges against any other citizen to air grievances and create a beneficial resolution to problems. To Machiavelli, this allows an outlet for aggressions and hatred: the citizens accuse each other and scheme against each other, and the governmental institution comes in and fixes the problem. Without these public accusations, people might turn to illegal methods to resolve their differences, such as murder or theft. This rise in crime would in turn make the government look bad, as if they cannot manage the republic. The people might then turn their aggressions towards this inept ruling class, and scheme against them. By instituting these trials, the populace can instead see a government taking an active role and in turn decide to love their republic for having such a wonderful method of resolving strife.

Pseudo Silk KimonoHuddled in the safety of a pseudo silk kimonoWearing bracelets of smoke, naked of understandingNicotine smears, long, long dried tears, invisible tearsSafe in my own words, learning from my own wordsCruel joke, cruel joke
Huddled in the safety of a pseudo silk kimonoA morning mare rides, in the starless shutters of my eyesThe spirit of a misplaced childhood is rising to speak his mindTo this orphan of heartbreak, disillusioned and scarredA refugee, refugee.

Kayleigh
Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a playground wallDo you remember dawn escapes from moon washed college halls Do you remember the cherry blossom in the market squareDo you remember I thought it was confetti in our hairBy the way didn't I break your heart? Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heartSo sorry, I never meant to break your heartBut you broke mine
Kayleigh is it too late to say I'm sorry? And Kayleigh could we get it together again?I just can't go on pretending that it came to a natural endKayleigh, oh I never thought I'd miss youAnd Kayleigh I thought that we'd always be friendsWe said our love would last foreverSo how did it come to this bitter end?
Do you remember barefoot on the lawn with shooting starsDo you remember loving on the floor in Belsize ParkDo you remember dancing in stilettos in the snowDo you remember you never understood I had to goBy the way, didn't I break your heartPlease excuse me, I never meant to break your heartSo sorry, I never meant to break your heartBut you broke mine
Kayleigh I just wanna say I'm sorryBut Kayleigh I'm too scared to pick up the phoneTo hear you've found another lover to patch up our broken homeKayleigh I'm still trying to write that love songKayleigh it's more important to me now you're goneMaybe it will prove that we were rightOr ever prove that I was wrong

Lavender
I was walking in the park dreaming of a sparkWhen I heard the sprinklers whisperShimmer in the haze of summer lawnsThen I heard the children singingThey were running through the rainbowsThey were singing a song for youWell it seemed to be a song for youThe one I wanted to write for you, for you
Lavenders blue, dilly dilly, lavenders greenWhen I am King, dilly dilly, you will be QueenA penny for your thoughts my dearA penny for your thoughts my dearI.O.U. for your love, IOU for your love
Lavenders green, dilly dilly, lavenders blueWhen you love me, dilly dilly, I will love youA penny for your thoughts my dearA penny for your thoughts my dearIOU for your love, IOU for your love
For your love
Bitter Suite
I. Brief EncounterA spider wanders aimlessly within the warmth of a shadowNot the regal creature of border cavesBut the poor, misguided, directionless familiarOf some obscure Scottish poet
The mist crawls from the canalLike some primordial phantom of romanceTo curl, under a cascade of neon pollenWhile I sit tied to the phone like an expectant fatherYour carnation will rot in a vase.
II. Lost WeekendA train sleeps in a sidingThe driver guzzles another can of lagerTo wash away the memories of a Friday night down at the club
She was a wallflower at sixteenShe'll be a wallflower at thirty fourHer mother called her beautifulHer daddy said, "A whore".
III. Blue AngelThe sky was Bible black in LyonWhen I met the MagdaleneShe was paralysed in a streetlightShe refused to give her name
And a ring of violet bruisesThey were pinned upon her arm.Two hundred francs for sanctuary and she led me by the handTo a room of dancing shadows where all the heartache disappearsAnd from glowing tongues of candles I heard her whisper in my ear"'J'entend ton coeur"I can hear your heart
IV. Misplaced RendezvousIt's getting late, for scribbling and scratching on the paperSomething's gonna give under this pressureAnd the cracks are already beginning to showIt's too lateThe weekend career girl never boarded the planeThey said this could never happen againSo wrong, so wrong
This time it seems to be another misplaced rendezvousThis time, it's looking like another misplaced rendezvousWith youThe parallel of you, you
V. Windswept ThumbOn the outskirts of nowhereOn the ring road to somewhereOn the verge of indecisionI'll always take the roundabout wayWaiting on the rainFor I was born with a habit, from a signThe habit of a windswept thumbAnd the sign of the rainIt's started raining
Heart of Lothian
I. Wide BoyWide boys, wide boys, wide boys, born with hearts of LothianWide boys, we were wide boys, born with hearts of LothianWide boys, we were wide boys, these hearts of Lothian
It's six o'clock in the tower blocksStalagmites of culture shockAnd the trippers of the light fantastic, bow down, hoe-downSpray their pheromones on this perfume uniform
And anarchy smiles in the Royal MileAnd they're waiting on the slyboys, flyboys, wideboysRooting, tooting cowboysLucky little ladies at the watering holesThey'll score the Friday night goals
I was born with a heart of LothianI was born with a heart of LothianWith a heart of Lothian
I was born with a heart of Lothian, with a heart of Lothian.
II. Curtain CallAnd the man from the magazine, wants another shot of you all curled up'Cos you look like an actor in a movie shot. But you're feeling like a wino in a parking lotHow did I get in here anyway?Do we really need a playback of the show?'Cos the wideboys want to head for the watering holes
Let's go
And the man in the mirror has sad eyes
WaterHole(Expresso Bongo)
When the taxis gather in mock SolemnityFuneral hearses court the death of virginityWas it paradise lost or paradise found?Did we gain respect or were we holding ground? You had found true love, or so you believedAnd the wideboys tattooed your hearts upon their sleeves
So when you think it's time to goWhen you think it's time to goDon't be surprised, the heroes never show
And the patter merchants selling false impressionsTipping eyes at the waitress with American expressionsTie angels to the bar with sweet Martini's and their charmsThey're lying on every word and every armThey're turning down their noses to the best linesAnd the cheap wines
And the wideboysThey wear their lovebites for their crimes
Lords of the Backstage
A love song with no validityPretend you never meant that much to meNumb, a Valium child, bored by meaningless collisionsA lonely stretch of headlight, diamonds trapped in black iceA mirror cracked among the white lines
I just wanted you to be the first oneI just wanted you to be the first oneAshes are burning, burningAshes are burning, burning
A lifestyle with no simplicitiesBut I'm not asking for your sympathyTalk, we never could talk, distanced by all that was between usA lord of the backstage, a creature of languageI'm so far out and I'm too far in
I just wanted you to be the first oneI just wanted you to be the first oneBridges are burning, burningBridges are burning, burning
Blind Curve
I. Vocal Under A BloodlightLast night you said I was cold, untouchableA lonely piece of action from another townI just want to be free, I'm happy to be lonelyCan't you stay away?Just leave me alone with my thoughtsJust a runaway, just a runawayI'm saving myself
II. Passing StrangersStrung out below a necklace of carnival lightsCold moan, held on the crest of the nightI'm too tired to fight.
So now we're passing strangers, at single tablesStill trying to get overStill trying to write love songs for passing strangersAll those passing strangersAnd the twinkling lies, all those twinkling liesSparkle with the wet ink on the paper
III. MyloOh I remember Toronto when Mylo went downAnd we sat and cried on the phoneI never felt so aloneHe was the first of our ownSome of us go down in a blaze of obscuritySome of us go down in a haze of publicityThe price of infamy, the edge of insanity
Another Holiday Inn, another temporary homeAnd an interviewer threatened me with a microphone'Talk to me, won't you tell me your stories."
So I talked about conscience and I talked about painAnd he looked out the window and it started to rainI thought maybe I've already gone crazySo I reached for a bottle and he reached for the doorAnd I picked up the sleeping pills crushed on the floorInviting me to a casual obscenity.
IV. Perimeter WalkIt would be incredible if we couldRetrace all the times that we lived hereAll the collisionsWasted, I've never been so wastedI've never been this far out before
Perimeter walkThere's a presence hereI feel could have been ancient,I could have been mystical
There's a presenceA child, my childMy childhood, a misplaced childhoodGive it back to me, give it back to meA childhood, that childhoodOh please give it back to me.
V. ThresholdI saw a war widow in a launderetteWashing the memories from her husband's clothesShe had medals pinned to a threadbare greatcoatA lump in her throat with cemetery eyes
I see convoys curb crawling West German AutobahnsTrying to pick up a warThey're going to even the scoreOh... I can't take any moreI see black flags on factoriesSoup ladies poised on the lips of the poorI see children with vacant stares, destined for rape in the alleywaysDoes anybody care, I can't take any more!Should we say goodbye?
I see priests, politicians?Heroes in black plastic body-bags under nations' flagsI see children pleading with outstretched handsDrenched in napalm, this is no Vietnam
I can't take any more, should we say goodbyeHow can we justify? They call us civilised!
Childhoods End?
And it was morningAnd I found myself mourning,For a childhood that I thought had disappearedI looked out the windowAnd I saw a magpie in the rainbow, the rain had goneI'm not alone, I turned to the mirrorI saw you, the child, that once loved
The child before they broke his heartOur heart, the heart that I believed was lost
Hey you, surprised? More than surprisedTo find the answers to the questionsWere always in your own eyes
Do you realise that you give it on back to her?But that would only be retraced in all the problems that you ever knewSo untrueFor she's got to carry on with her lifeAnd you've got to carry on with yours
So I see it's me, I can do anythingAnd I'm still the child'Cos the only thing misplaced was directionAnd I found directionThere is no childhood's endYou are my childhood friend, lead me on
Hey you, you've survived. Now you've arrivedTo be reborn in the shadow of the magpie
Now you realise, that you've got to get out of hereYou've found the leading light of destiny, burning in the ashes of your memoryYou want to change the worldYou'd resigned yourself to die a broken rebelBut that was looking backwardNow you've found the light
You, the child that once lovedThe child before they broke his heartOur heart, the heart that I believed was lost
So it's me I see, I can do anything.I'm still the child'Cos the only thing misplaced was directionAnd I found directionThere is no childhood's endI am your childhood friend, lead me on
White Feather
When I hit the streets back in '81Found a heart in the gutter and a poet's crownI felt barbed wire kisses and icicle tearsWhere have I been for all these years?
I saw political intrigue, political liesGonna wipe those smiles of self-satisfaction from their eyes
I will wear your white featherI will carry your white flagI will swear I have no nationBut I'm proud to own my heartI will wear your white featherI will carry your white flagI will swear I have no nationBut I'm proud to own my heartMy heart, this is my heart
We don't need no uniforms, we have no disguiseDivided we stand, together we'll rise
We will wear your white featherWe will carry your white flagWe will swear we have no nationsBut we're proud to own our heartsWe will wear your white featherWe will carry your white flagWe will swear we have no nationsBut we're proud to own our heartsThese are our heartsThese are our heartsYou can't take away our heartsYou can't steal our hearts awayI can't walk awayNo more

Hunters also consistently support conservation measures and adhere to limits and restrictions that benefit individual species. Hunter advocacy groups are "environmentalists" according to most definitions of the word.
And most of them are not shrieking upper class college educated stoners, so easier to deal with on the whole, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, I'm talking about our very own esteemed state representative Gloria Vaughn. In case you missed the latest, Vaughn has proposed we amend the New Mexico State Constitution to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
Now I could criticize this move from so many angles that frankly my mind fizzles and goes blank, making it hard to choose from which direction to attack.
Nevertheless, I'll give it my best.
How about: It's is a colossal waste of time.
Evidently, every New Mexican makes a decent living wage. No child will go to bed tonight with an empty stomach, because they are all well fed. For that matter, no child will go to bed with an empty mind because our education system is tops in the world.
Evidently our streets are free of drugs. Every New Mexican has a job and can feed their families with a $5.15 minimum wage. Our roads are the best in the nation. Everyone in the state has access to affordable health care.
We can only assume such is the case, because Vaughn isn't seeking to amend
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advertisement
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------the Constitution to solve any of those problems. No. The most important item on her agenda is to make sure that gay people can't marry one another in the state of New Mexico. How about instead we pass a constitutional amendment that defines a family as a group of people who love one another and don't do harm to each other. That way it would be unconstitutional for people to verbally and physically abuse their own.
Or since, by her own admission, the Bible is the basis for Vaughn's desire to constitutionally define marriage, let's take that definition directly from the Bible.
"Therefore what God has put together, let man not separate." That passage can be found in Mathew 19:16 and if my ability to divine what the author had in mind is worth anything, under that definition, divorced folks would unconstitutional.
We all know that won't work because, church and state issues aside, applying the Bible to modern society doesn't work. The Bible hasn't changed in 1,500 years but the world has.
So please Mrs. Vaughn, and any other Republican who supports this, let's work on some issues that might actually improve the lives of New Mexicans. After all, time is short. There's only 60 days in the session and while you all were arguing about legislative initiatives to ban gay marriage last year, you failed to pass any laws to improve the minimum wage.
In other words, some poor mom will cry herself to sleep tonight because her kids went to bed hungry. She's trying to figure out how to make ends meet on $5.15 an hour . She doesn't give a tinker's damn about who's sleeping with who.
And for any legislators who can't focus on the important issues, just do what the rest of us do and stop thinking about gay sex.

* 16/9 format * offer component YUV and HDMI/DVI connectivity * support HDCP
You must also know that unlike HD Ready, Full HD is NOT an official label . You should therefore be extra careful when choosing your TV and make sure it follows the above characteristics.
A Full HD TV is preferable to an HD Ready in so far as it allows you to fully enjoy new HD-DVD or Blu-ray formats as well as HD TV channels broadcast in 1080. The price is less becoming though...

Can’t raise more money because B******* ISN”T RUNNING
Sales group can’t meet their goals and get their bonuses because B******* ISN”T RUNNING
Everybody’s job is on the line because B******* ISN”T RUNNING
There might actually be an org chart produced, once the Be11evue crew gets back from London.
First priority is to provide you with whatever support you need to get B******* producing.
The reason there aren’t 20 people down at B******* “helping” you get things running is because (as M so wonderfully put it) “9 women together will not produce a baby in 1 month”. Skilled intelligent people are needed, not scads of idle hands itching to turn wrenches and push buttons.
C then proceeded to “lift the mood” with an anecdote about the brutal rape and murder in 1993 of the jogger in Central Park where 43 people did nothing to intervene. Lots of talk about accountability and responsibility. There will be books to read and accountability agreements to produce and sign by the end of February for all.
C2 is looking for places to move the Seattle ops to around W00dinville. Touching anecdotes about what horrible shape the Seattle facility was in when the company moved in, and glowing reverence to C’s friend who owns the building.
C stated that if B******* ISN”T RUNNING when the analyst gets there, there is only enough money to fund the company through May.
K then re-iterated the initial 3 points.
Then we ate chili.

Strain (keep the liquid! Do not pour it down the drain!), cool everything. You can pick the meat off the bones if you like to shred and use in the soup, or you can cook some more chicken for less time in the resulting broth. Refrigerate the broth overnight and defat it in the morning. I leave some fat in, especially if I'm making chicken and noodles.
Later that day, poach some additional chicken in the broth until just done, remove, cool, chop the meat and return to the pot. If you like vegetables in your soup, dice them up and add them in the order of how long they take to cook. Simmer everything up until done, taste, salt, enjoy.
Make some homemade egg noodles (1 pile of flour mixed with some fine salt, make a well, crack in an egg, mix up with a fork until you can mix no more, punish the dough until it fights you back seriously, flatten chunks of it to about 1/8" thick, let it rest and dry for a few hours, flattening over and over again if it resists, then cut into narrow strips with a pizza cutter.) Drop by handfuls in the simmering broth, 1 good handful per approx. 3 cups of soup.

I just used some chicken stock made as per above yesterday, and cooked green lentils in it with some garlic. Delicious! The slight amt of fat from the stock really added a dimension to the flavour.

I think it is all to do with the marmite:butter ratio on your slice of bread or toast. For maximal gastronomic pleasure there should be a marbled effect with alternating streaks of Marmite and butter. Marmite haters were probably presented with a slice of bread with a veritable oil slick of Marmite in their youth and were rightly traumatised.
Take the butter out of the equation (cf Twiglets) and confusion reigns….

1Thus far the Muse has trac'd in useful lays 2The proper implements for wintry ways; 3Has taught the walker, with judicious eyes, 4To read the various warnings of the skies. 5Now venture, Muse, from home to range the town, 6And for the public safety risk thy own.
7 For ease and for dispatch, the morning's best; 8No tides of passengers the street molest. 9You'll see a draggled damsel, here and there, 10From Billingsgate her fishy traffic bear; 11On doors the sallow milk-maid chalks her gains; 12Ah! how unlike the milk-maid of the plains! 13Before proud gates attending asses bray, 14Or arrogate with solemn pace the way; 15These grave physicians with their milky cheer, 16The love-sick maid and dwindling beau repair; 17Here rows of drummers stand in martial file, 18And with their vellum thunder shake the pile, 19To greet the new-made bride. Are sounds like these 20The proper prelude to a state of peace? 21Now industry awakes her busy sons, 22Full charg'd with news the breathless hawker runs: 23Shops open, coaches roll, carts shake the ground, 24And all the streets with passing cries resound.
25 If cloth'd in black, you tread the busy town 26Or if distinguish'd by the rev'rend gown, 27Three trades avoid; oft in the mingling press, 28The barber's apron soils the sable dress; 29Shun the perfumer's touch with cautious eye, 30Nor let the baker's step advance too nigh; 31Ye walkers too that youthful colours wear, 32Three sullying trades avoid with equal care; 33The little chimney-sweeper skulks along, 34And marks with sooty stains the heedless throng; 35When small-coal murmurs in the hoarser throat, 36From smutty dangers guard thy threaten'd coat: 37The dust-man's cart offends thy clothes and eyes, 38When through the street a cloud of ashes flies; 39But whether black or lighter dyes are worn, 40The chandler's basket, on his shoulder borne, 41With tallow spots thy coat; resign the way, 42To shun the surly butcher's greasy tray, 43Butcher's, whose hands are dy'd with blood's foul stain, 44And always foremost in the hangman's train.
45 Let due civilities be strictly paid. 46The wall surrender to the hooded maid; 47Nor let thy sturdy elbow's hasty rage 48Jostle the feeble steps of trembling age; 49And when the porter bends beneath his load, 50And pants for breath, clear thou the crowded road. 51But, above all, the groping blind direct, 52And from the pressing throng the lame protect. 53You'll sometimes meet a fop, of nicest tread, 54Whose mantling peruke veils his empty head; 55At ev'ry step he dreads the wall to lose, 56And risks, to save a coach, his red-heel'd shoes; 57Him, like the miller, pass with caution by, 58Lest from his shoulder clouds of powder fly. 59But when the bully, with assuming pace, 60Cocks his broad hat, edg'd round with tarnish'd lace, 61Yield not the way; defy his strutting pride, 62And thrust him to the muddy kennel's side; 63He never turns again, nor dares oppose, 64But mutters coward curses as he goes.
65 If drawn by bus'ness to a street unknown, 66Let the sworn porter point thee through the town; 67Be sure observe the signs, for signs remain, 68Like faithful land-marks to the walking train. 69Seek not from prentices to learn the way, 70Those fabling boys will turn thy steps astray; 71Ask the grave tradesman to direct thee right, 72He ne'er deceives, but when he profits by 't.
73 Where fam'd St. Giles's ancient limits spread, 74An inrail'd column rears its lofty head, 75Here to sev'n streets sev'n dials count the day, 76And from each other catch the circling ray. 77Here oft the peasant, with enquiring face, 78Bewilder'd, trudges on from place to place; 79He dwells on ev'ry sign with stupid gaze, 80Enters the narrow alley's doubtful maze, 81Tries ev'ry winding court and street in vain, 82And doubles o'er his weary steps again. 83Thus hardy Theseus with intrepid feet, 84Travers'd the dang'rous labyrinth of Crete; 85But still the wand'ring passes forc'd his stay, 86Till Ariadne's clue unwinds the way. 87But do not thou, like that bold chief, confide 88Thy vent'rous footsteps to a female guide; 89She'll lead thee with delusive smiles along, 90Dive in thy fob, and drop thee in the throng.
91 When waggish boys the stunted besom ply 92To rid the slabby pavement, pass not by 93E'er thou hast held their hands; some heedless flirt 94Will over-spread thy calves with spatt'ring dirt. 95Where porters hogsheads roll from carts aslope, 96Or brewers down steep cellars stretch the rope, 97Where counted billets are by carmen tost, 98Stay thy rash steps, and walk without the post.

437 When rosemary, and bays, the poet's crown, 438Are bawl'd in frequent cries through all the town, 439Then judge the festival of Christmas near, 440Christmas, the joyous period of the year. 441Now with bright holly all your temples strow, 442With laurel green and sacred mistletoe. 443Now, heav'n-born Charity, thy blessings shed; 444Bid meagre Want uprear her sickly head: 445Bid shiv'ring limbs be warm; let plenty's bowl 446In humble roofs make glad the needy soul. 447See, see, the heav'n-born maid her blessings shed; 448Lo! meagre Want uprears her sickly head; 449Cloth'd are the naked, and the needy glad, 450While selfish Avarice alone is sad.
451 Proud coaches pass, regardless of the moan 452Of infant orphans, and the widow's groan; 453While Charity still moves the walker's mind, 454His lib'ral purse relieves the lame and blind. 455Judiciously thy half-pence are bestow'd, 456Where the laborious beggar sweeps the road. 457Whate'er you give, give ever at demand, 458Nor let old age long stretch his palsy'd hand. 459Those who give late are importun'd each day, 460And still are teas'd because they still delay. 461If e'er the miser durst his farthings spare, 462He thinly spreads them through the public square, 463Where, all beside the rail, rang'd beggars lie, 464And from each other catch the doleful cry; 465With heav'n, for two-pence, cheaply wipes his score, 466Lifts up his eyes, and hastes to beggar more.
467 Where the brass knocker, wrapt in flannel band, 468Forbids the thunder of the footman's hand; 469Th' upholder, rueful harbinger of death, 470Waits with impatience for the dying breath; 471As vulture, o'er a camp, with hov'ring flight, 472Snuff up the future carnage of the fight. 473Here canst thou pass, unmindful of a pray'r, 474That heav'n in mercy may thy brother spare?

Not gonna get into this again but, notorious as this may be, it's actually really easy to find good Mexican food in London and anyone that fails to do so is just lazy.

For example, when you show a stick to a dog, itremembers how the stick hurt it ·on a previous occasion·,and it whines or runs away.

93.
If you're reading this, you're likely the same age as the barber from the "Cut Your Hair" video, or older.

I changed this because they were told a story about Sally or John. It's better to say that rather than 'asked to imagine' - I don't think that the researchers said anything like 'please imagine a little boy called John'. John was the main character in a story.
