Its that magical time of the year where you can report what prizes you've won, even if it was just a cookie.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it back? I'm gonna have to start going to Tim Horton's again in the morning.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this thread title meant to be rude?

I haven't won anything lately.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I only got as far as "roll up to the rim" and couldn't go on due to aggravated tears of laughter.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it ever back. They're ugly red this time round though.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

You are not helping my aggravated tears of laughter.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess it wouldn't help if you knew one of the rewards was $1000.
Please note Mark knew exactly what I was talking about.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a Canadian thing.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 March 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I won a cookie last night, first time in monthes I order something other then an XL.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 8 March 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i won a free boston creme. it is the only thing i have ever won in my life. and i don't like boston cremes. crullers 4-EVAH!!!

Dave M. (rotten03), Sunday, 9 March 2003 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont like tim hortons except for their crullers.

anthony easton (anthony), Sunday, 9 March 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

What, are you some kinda Robin's Donut freak? :P

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I went a little roll-up-the-rim crazy last year (we were going back and forth on the 401 a lot) and all I won was a muffin.

slutsky (slutsky), Sunday, 9 March 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

But I'm happy to hear that it's back.

slutsky (slutsky), Sunday, 9 March 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Cookie? Didn't you tell me it was a free coffee (which is the best of the small prizes etc.)?

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Nooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnn....

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Right now it doesn't matter what it was, I can't find it.

Only 2nd star of the night, whadda rip off. What does a man have to do on his debut to be #1?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Who was first? Bertuzzi?

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup. Nazland 3rd.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

That line is so good it's appalling.

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Whose? Vancouver or Leafs 2nd line? Im with Don Cherry on this one, screw Reichel, get Domi on that line.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The Naslund/Bertuzzi/Morrison line.

Although Antropov/Renberg/Nolan looked pretty goddamned good too. Now we just need Mats to wake up...

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to see them trade Reinberg for a defenseman, or a goalie who isn't a sievelike. Belfour is years past his prime. If it wasnt for all those recent expansion teams his GPA would be 3 something probably.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

What?!

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

GAA?

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Belfour's numbers are way better than Cujo's BTW, and Cujo's got a far superior defense in front of him.

Anyway Eddie's save percentage is a solid .920. The goaltender is the least of their problems.

This Reinberg guy, though...

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

GAA, GAA, GAA. I dunno, everytime I see Belfour in between the pipes they loose and its usually his fault. Can't blame him tonight considering who scored but hell if he is so good he should be able to hold the fort. I just miss Potvin in his first few years as a stater.

I wasn't much of a Cujo fan either, I guess I can forgive Belfour if he stands on his head in the playoffs when it counts.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 05:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you kinda wince when you think of Belfour? I'm just waiting for him to freak out.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 05:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the donuts , but for coffee i go to 2nd cup, esp. with that new mexican mocha thing.

anthony easton (anthony), Sunday, 9 March 2003 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did you have to bring up donuts?

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

And am I the only idiot who always wrecks the rim on those cups by chewing on 'em? It is fun to hand them in all soggy when I win, though.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Um Bryan, them cups is not for eatin'.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I did say I was an idiot!

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I recall no such conversation!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:32 (twenty-two years ago)

See above. We're you trying to win something and now you can't sleep?

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I just knew this was a Noodles thread from the subject line. I have maybe won a cookie and one small coffee for all the hundreds of rim-rolling cups I have consumed in my days (that's enough, Dan).

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 9 March 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

We just got Glen Wesley!

C'mon Pat, one more d-man...

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Belfour's goaltending is superior to Cujo, I must say. And I kind of like Cujo.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to Lever up the Lip and Lose.

Anyhow, back to the hockey derailment.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay then, Potvin is still my favorite Leafs goalie. "The Cat" is the coolest of hockey nicknames, and he was kind of hottt. Though Belfour I heart because he is an utter mentalist and emotional wreck who still manages to get the job done on most occasions.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

MIKE PALMATEER TO THREAD.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

¿belfour is an emotional wreck? i thought he was a drunk.

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 9 March 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

That too.

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 9 March 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Palmateer couldn't stop a beachball. Wregget did a good job considering how decrepit the team was.
Belfour may be a drunk be he's got nothing on good olde Al Iafrate when he was a Leaf. I think they kept a bottle or two on the bench for him.

I still havent found my missing cup.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I was kidding about Palmateer. All-time worst Leaf player: Bill Root. We had a Bill Root fan club which consisted of me and my friend Chris. Anyone wanna join?

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 9 March 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't remeber Root, Im guessing he was one of those classic players backing up Rick Vaive and Wendel Clark? One of the all time worst Leafs was their captian, Rob Ramage.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

oh Potvin, let me sing thy praises. i saw him back in St. John's right before he got sent to Toronto; by the third period most other teams would just kind of give up and go limp.

Dave M. (rotten03), Sunday, 9 March 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave M you a newfie?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

guilty

Dave M. (rotten03), Monday, 10 March 2003 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Thats alright. There is somegirl with a MUN backpack who lives around the corner I see on the TTC all the time. It makes me miss NB a bit when Im in one of the rush hour sardine cars.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 March 2003 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

It was indeed a coffee that I won. I found the washed up rim in the laundry I put away this morning. I could barely read it but they took it at the store.
Hurrah for me and my winning ways.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Belfour's goaltending is superior to Cujo, I must say. And I kind of like Cujo.

A dog is a goalie. Uh huh.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

AirBud 7, The Dog Gets Iced

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I know you're just being Ned, uh Ned, but Cujo = Curtis Joseph.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 10 March 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't follow your primitive barbaric sport enough to know of these amusing little nicknames you grant people. Do you still make the goal nets out of fishing twine and twigs? *hides*

(I actually like hockey as a sport because it's essentially soccer on ice, or vice versa or something.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 March 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned with hockey hair would be GREBT!
He'd be like a blond Barry Melrose.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 March 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

What kind of goddamn crack are you ON? Some kind of cheap Canadian stuff cooked up by the type of people Dave Q specifically fled from, I'll bet.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 March 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hockey without fighting is like a ballet on ice"
-Only someone (even if it was a Canadian) in LA could say that.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 10 March 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I won yet another coffee yesterday.
Between yesterday and listening to Melville now Im just going to blankly stare at my computer monitor and smile.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't won anything! The cappucinos have been for nought.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

(If I'm paying money to roll up to the rim, I'd DAMN WELL better be getting some luvin' in return.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

You deny the power of coffee love?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

You keep you job and your rim thoughts seperate mister.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

And how is your noodle?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, its got to be what 9 in the morning for you?

My noodles are in the fridge, pad thai for lunch, yummy.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, its got to be what 9 in the morning for you?

8:30. And who needs coffee when there's stuff like this?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't want your sick twisted perving on my thread. Tim Horton's roll up to win is akin to sacred happiness.

Go perv on Kate's threads, she likes it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be extraneous there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Well she can't perv on her own can she?
Im not sure I want to ask that question.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you have outdone yourself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You've taken something sacred to most Canadians and a few New England area residents and twisted to your own needs and deprieved desires.
EVIL!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

My mom entered me in a contest when I was a lad and I won a basketball, an ugly Gatorade dufflebag, and two tickets to a Bulls game.
A few months before that I won something through some Dunkin Donuts promotion...can't remember what though.

You may now return to discussing goalies...Hasek RULEZ U R ALL GAY!

oops (Oops), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

This is not This is the thread you promptly derail.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

You've taken something sacred to most Canadians and a few New England area residents and twisted to your own needs and deprieved desires. EVIL!

Hey, hold on! Nicole is in Michigan and clearly she worships at the shrine too! Do not exclude.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, this part of New England does not know from this "Horton rimming".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

No your too far south, you have to wait a year or so, upstate New York, Michigan, Ohio I believe have their share of Tim's.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

163 stores currently in New York, Ohio, Michigan, Maine, Kentucky & West Virgina. There was a NY Times article about getting that over 350 but I can't find it.

From Tim's website last year:
"150 in the U.S. (located mainly in the Buffalo, NY; Columbus, Ohio; and Detroit, Michigan areas."

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I just finished listening to The Carpenter's 'The Singles 1969-1973'. SOMEONE CHEER ME UP NOW.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 14 March 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

ACH! WRONG THREAD!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 14 March 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i almost went to the one in west virginia once. misbegotten hellhole (the state, not Tim's).

Dave M. (rotten03), Saturday, 15 March 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

when i was 10, i won a trip to LA to see the Rose Bowl! it was a sweepstakes at my local supermarket

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 15 March 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I just won a muffin, yeah me!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 17 March 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I just won a donut! WATCH OUT NOW, IT'S PARTY TIME

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 17 March 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

What kind of muffin are you gonna get there, rogue-boy (**Bryan playfully pokes Noodles in the ribz and offers to buy him a drink or six the next time he sees him**)? It should be a blueberry burst!

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

fruit explosion!

actually, no. banana walnut rules all.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Im going to buy a chocolatechip muffin and put it in the microwave and smother the poor thing in butter untill its incredibly unhealthy.

But the big question is what kinda donut you going to rock?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

*whispers*

"maple dip. maaaaaa-ple diii-p..."

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

**screams like a demented 4-year old**

"BOSTON CREAM!!! BOSTON CRRRRRRRRRREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!"

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

hungoverly moans "Canadian maple"

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Screw all y'all. Blueberry fritter! Dude!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(tho admittedly Boston Cream is running a close second)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

YOU ARE ALL KEEPING THIS THREAD ALIVE TO TORTURE ME I JUST KNOW IT.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

sean's free donut coupon = frittered.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they have chocolate filled? I want to roll up the rim, win a donut, get one of those chocolate Boston creams, then sick my tongue in the hole and lick out that creamy brown goodness.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan. To. Thread.

*head explodes*

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(Get it?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, you're from Boston, right? ;)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I WASN'T GOING TO GO THERE (although the first thing that crossed my mind was "note to self: do not bend over while pantsless in Bryan's presence unless I want a tongue-lashing")

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

From http://www.nationalgeographic.com/coffee/article3.html
“Another native we have also picks with care,” Doyo told me over a superb cup of coffee. “The luak, that’s a small catlike animal, gorges after dark on the most ripe, the best of our crop. It digests the fruit and expels the beans, which our farm people collect, wash, and roast, a real delicacy. "

“Something about the natural fermentation that occurs in the luak’s stomach seems to make the difference. For Javanese, this is the best of all coffees—our Kopi luak.”

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't even say ONE SICK THING. You guys and your bum-play! I just like the feeling of my tongue going into the hole, especially when a little bit of the cream has come out as a sort of "lube".

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: Noodles' last post: MUST GET TO STARBUCK'S NOW. CAT-POO COFFEE!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 March 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

...and what did I win? Nothing. That's right - nada. Fuxing Tom Hofums (as coined by M Hanle y)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i really really prefer crullers.

anthony easton (anthony), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The blatant perversity in recent posts proves to me that there is in fact a deity, and he has a smiling face.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It's really no wonder that people don't want to talk to me very much around here. I don't blame any of you.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't rolled up the rim even once yet.

slutsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I pefer Crimson Binome to rogue-boy I'll have you know.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I still have won nothing, and I buy enough cappucino to fund the government of some small country. I am cursed.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You know Noodles, I was kinda wondering if you were computer generated. I WANT TO GO TO TIM'S NOW.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Andria left me for that wanker Matrix, dude needs anger management classes something fierce.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

And a shower (?).

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

With Andria?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

WUKKA WUKKA WUKKA!

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

The winning cup is out there!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I just won a cookie, bah!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Revive?! Anyway, I won a coffee on Saturday, drank it, then absent-mindedly threw away the cup without checking it. I'M FUCKING DOOMED!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 25 March 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I just won a coffee too. Fantastic. By the way, for those who are interested in what I finally decided on for the donut, it was a Boston Cream, because the location where I redeemed didn't have blueberry fritters.

Our receptionist today just mentioned that Tim's puts nicotine in their coffee to make them addictive. The sad thing is, I can see it...I drink these things like crazy.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I won a muffin! I won a muffin! I won muffin!

I never win anything, so I felt so triumphant. Nobody should be that excited over a banana muffin.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay Nicole!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Where are you again, Nicole, that you have access to the glory of Tim's?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you talking about, Nicole? What else are we supposed to be excited about? That muffin is going to taste so SWEET. Sean, it's crack in there, I tell you!

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Our receptionist today just mentioned that Tim's puts nicotine in their coffee to make them addictive. The sad thing is, I can see it...I drink these things like crazy.

The lesson here is don't listen to the receptionist.
MSG, Nicotine, crack, salt, monkey cum, I mean is there anything they DON'T put into Tim Horton's coffee?

That muffin will taste do I dare say, like VICTORY!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, I wish I could see the factory where they have the monkeys doing their business into the beans.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, no I don't.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Dan!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Where are you again, Nicole, that you have access to the glory of Tim's?

Michigan. In fact, the Tim's that I go to is directly across the street from my apartnment, so I'm lucky to have a cappucino dealer so close by. What would I do without my fix?

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I ran out of Tim's coffee about three weeks ago--I had a giant amount sent to me. It was wonderful, delicious, and so satisfying to drink it out of my Tim's mug. Man, I sound like a commercial.

What I wouldn't give for a dutchie right now.

cybele, Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Pass the dutchie ...

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

You have seen the Tim Horton's in far away places commercials their running right? Foreign students, sailors and such.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.timhortons.com/english/content_2211.html#True

Tim Hortons coffee is more than just coffee - it's a part of people's lives and lifestyles. This is the basis for the popular "True Stories" series of TV commercials, which began airing in English Canada in 1997.

The series began with the story of Lilian, a lovely older lady who would walk quite a distance to get her Tim Hortons coffee. Over the years, viewers have enjoyed the true stories of Sammi, the loveable Golden Retriever; Natalie McMaster, a Canadian fiddling sensation; cowboys from Western Canada; Shorty Jenkins, the ice maker; surfers from Atlantic Canada and train engineers who couldn’t resist making an “unscheduled stop”. In the fifth "True Stories" commercial, Tim Hortons responds to the pleas of sailors in the Canadian navy, stationed in Kuwait, who miss home and the taste of Tim Hortons coffee. And most recently, viewers met David Mole, a Canadian student studying abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

cybele, Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Rah for muffin love!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Hooray for Nicole! All that rimming was bound to pay off eventually.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

PERVERT! SICK! WRONG! Well done. This will get us both finally condemned to Asshatry, yes?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

One can only hope.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

WELL GOOD GOD DAMN. I redeemed my free coffee and rolled up the rim on it, and I got ANOTHER FREE COFFEE. This is my day!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone has a horseshoe up his ass today!

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

So that's what felt so uncomfortable!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And yet you were still able to say "WELL GOOD GOD DAMN...This is my day!"

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i just won R2000!! in a logo design competition!

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you have to roll up to anyone's rim to claim the prize?

(Seriously, congrats!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

no, but i don't actually have the money yet so we'll see! and thanks! 12 american dollars!! (16 canadian!!!!!)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I finally won a donut the other day. But I bet I'll lose it before I get to claim my free apple fritter. Mmmm fritter...

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 27 March 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Keep it behind your ear like a carpenter's pencil.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 27 March 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if there's a contest where you win donut bitch.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 27 March 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Oooh, can we warp this thread into a conversation about honey glazed asses, like happened in the Shania thread?

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 27 March 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I did enough damage to this thread up above. When you freak Dang out, you know you've gone too far.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 27 March 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, I'm sensing something very Canadian about this thread

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 27 March 2003 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

surely you mean "aboot this thread"

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 27 March 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmm fritter...

Apple fritters are indeed the Bomb! Maybe seonc donly to double choclate.

about honey glazed asses,

Im scared to think about who Kim thinks has a honey glazed ass.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 27 March 2003 06:55 (twenty-two years ago)

where is the cruller love??!?

Dave M. (rotten03), Thursday, 27 March 2003 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

With all the other brouhaha, I forgot to mention that I had a threepeat: I won two coffees in a row, followed by a donut, all on the same $1.50.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Once again: BASTARD!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep fantasizing that I will win money, or even that stupid mountain bike with the Tim Horton's logo.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

My cruller love went away the day the orange crueller stop getting sold in stores.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 27 March 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Cruklers, (and I really mean crullers, but that's such a fantastic typo that I'm gonna leave it) they rock my honey glazed ass too.

I won a coffee today. Go me!

Kim (Kim), Friday, 28 March 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurray for Kim and her winning ways.
Back to mopping I go.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 28 March 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Free donut. First win of the season. I'm on the scoreboard.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 28 March 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I won another donut today. Obviously I drink far too much coffee.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 28 March 2003 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha. Figures. It's been a dry couple of days, even though I've been rolling up the rim furiously.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

A little joy jelly will fix that.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Those rims are pretty tight, they certainly could use some lube getting the prize exposed.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm starting to imagine Sean living in a kind of Requiem for a Dreamesque nightmare, except with a Tim Horton's addiction.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

The Kronos Quartet scoring his every move...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, that sounds pretty much like my day to day life!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been calling Sean Tappy Tibbins for years.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The worst part about the whole thing is that every time I get on the subway I have to pay five fares! And that's difficult to do with both hands full o' Tim's coffee!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Soon, his summer season is upon him, where he gathers the 500,000 for the franchaise fee only to see it crumble away when he finds out 200G must be in liquid assets or somethign wacky like that.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmm, liquid asshats

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I love that jpegs title!

Its all about the XL coffees.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Triple-triple, Baybee!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No, gross. XL one cream. Triple triple is for people who don't like coffee. (Mind you, so's one cream.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

You can drink it faster that way.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Triple-Triple? Would like some coffee with that sugary milk?

All about the all black coffee.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

FUCK THAT SHIT.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry! I was channelling Frank Booth for a second there.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Must've been all the sugar and butter fat.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

arrgh, i bought a tea from tim's today, just so i could play roll up the rim to win, and then I TOTALLY FORGOT TO PLAY IT. i have a nagging feeling i would've won something good too.

sand.y, Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

But you can't even read the tab! For all you know it might actually say PLEASE PLAY AGAIN.

(incidentally, since last report I've won two cookies, but lost one of the tabs, one donut and one muffin)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah that might help the bidding a little...

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Im surprised Tim's is allowing that, seems somehow underhanded. Maybe Im just jealous.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 10 April 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

ten months pass...
Okay. March 2004 campaign, and I just won a donut. Mmmmm, donut.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 5 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

regina has a very low tim's count.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 5 March 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
I've repeatedly won the right to try again.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

me too! driving to TO yesterday we were SO HAPPY to discover it was roll up the rim season again!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 22 March 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Today I was a big losah, but the other day I won a cookie and gave it to Noodles. I am nice and stuff.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I have given up coffee, so I have not had a chance to win. :-(

I miss Tim.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

you can roll up the tea rim! my friend did it (and lost)

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"tea rim" sounds filthy.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

mark p - the "p" stands for pervert.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki, if you are Toronto, you shouldn't be rimming tea or coffee, you should be beering instead! With ILX'n'shit!

(ps. I have levered up the lip and lost many times, though I have won one beige donut and one cookie.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

beige donut? oh. yum.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

ok "beige donut" sounds filthy too!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

(um maybe the 'p' stands for 'pent-up')

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we do nothing with the cookie?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

see the "i'm in toronto" thread sean (not that it will give you any more information than this), unfortunately this is a very very brief trip and there is no time to roll up the beer rim and win good times.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I am sueing Tim Hortons.. Damn them!!

AngryTImmy, Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Arngry... rage dude. rage.

"please play again"

This year the Ho is just taunting us.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I've only won one coffee so far, despite the fact that my purchases far outweigh the reputed "1 in 9" odds. As I was standing in line one morning about two weeks ago, a guy who had just been stabbed four times walked. right. by. me. He survived, but what a fucking mess... There was so much blood that everyone thought it was a joke and didn't try to help him.

And when I told my mum I had only won one coffee she accused Tim Hortons' of somehow diverting all the winning cups to eastern Canada. I like how every conversation with my mum boils down to how eastern Canada is responsible for hoarding things.

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

And where in dear god do we hoard things? In our massive fleet of dories?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I am up a muffin and a cookie. But all I want is more coffee.

danielle g. (danielle g.), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

And where in dear god do we hoard things? In our massive fleet of dories?

Actually, I heard it was SkyDome.

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

But the Skydome is in Upper Canada, not eastern Canada.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

We do not have the winning cups down here either. It is starting to become tragic just how few winners I've turned up this year considering I'm nearly bathing in the stuff this time out. The odds have definitely not been 1 in 9 so far this cycle; maybe they're unleasing more winners later as a result for patience.

Has anyone ever sat down and calculated the odds against the number of prizes listed? Do Canadians really drink 180,000,000 (or whatever it works out to) cups of coffee during the contest period? Doesn't that work out to something like three cups a day for every person in Canada? Shouldn't the streets be flowing with Timmy-flavoured pee?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

That's not just slush, you know

Dave M. (rotten03), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Somethings gotta motivate the New Brunswick economy and it sure ain't going to be Irving's personality.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

But the Skydome is in Upper Canada, not eastern Canada.

Pretty much everything is east of me.

Shouldn't the streets be flowing with Timmy-flavoured pee?

Flavoured? Well...

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone obviously got my memo above, because today I won a coffee. I'm about to go redeem it so I can be pleasantly overcaffeinated like Mr. Fields.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

This Timmy flavoured pee sounds like something we could export to Germany. So far I've won one stinking coffee and of course I THREW OUT THE GODDAMN CUP.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

This Timmy flavoured pee sounds like something we could export to Germany.

The venerable John Labatt has been pulling this one for almost a century.

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ive won twice in the past week and then lost the rim. arrgh!

Elliot (Elliot), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

one cup a day and so far i've won bupkus. timmy can kiss my beige donut.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now drinking my free coffee. Mmmm, so sweet.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing tastes better than free Tim coffee.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I mean, you can keep your damn first-place truck prize, just back a truck of sweet sweet bean up to my door instead.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"back a truck of sweet sweet bean up to my door"

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

So I rolled up the rim on my free coffee...and won a muffin! Things are startin' ta go my way hey.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I won a mofo cookie. I want my free coffee bitch.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU CAN GET COFFEE BITCHES?????? I'm moving to Canada.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I won a cookie today! My week has been so pathetic and terrible that this may well be the highlight.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 1 April 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm back to getting the opportunity to play again. This will not do.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i have nothing! nothing

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 1 April 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I need to leave earlier in the morning - most of my chances to win are being foiled by the stupidly long line-ups at the only Tim's on my way to work. I actually drank a McDonald's coffee the other day in an emergency time saving situation. This is not good, people. Not good!

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 1 April 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Bryan - Sorry to hear of your loss. I will send free donuts your way, by route of the roomie. smiles.

danielle g. (danielle g.), Friday, 2 April 2004 02:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Danielle!

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Friday, 2 April 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! The only place open downtown after I saw Stereolab last night was the 24hr Tim Horton at Dunsmuir and Seymour. I won a free cookie! I'm giving it to my partner, though, because she likes the cokies and I don't really.

Two years ago I won a free doughnut, and picked Canadian Maple.

derrick (derrick), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I won a coffee today! I am on a winning streak the likes of which have previously been unknown to me.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 April 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I won 2 coffees today (gave one to the lovely Danielle in partial repayment for the 2 donuts she gave me) yet I don't feel like a bastard. Well, not anymore than normal.

Talcynuts (Bryan), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
Tried to redeem three tabs yesterday ( one coffee and two cookies ) and the store owner said that I could only redeem 2 tabs per visit. Wasup wid dat? Anyone else hear of this?

John Paul Bell (snafue), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I will not, must not go there.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 18 April 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

what is it abt morning thunderstorms that makes me crave tim's something fierce?

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 18 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

SUCKO. I went to Tim's today and ended up with a newly redesigned cup...one without the Roll Up the Rim potential! Is this over? Has this been the suckingest suckfest in the history of Tim's prize-giving? Considering the amount of coffee I drank this time around I should have gotten way more than I got. I call boooooshit on those 1 in 9 odds.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 19 April 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I ain't won shit!

Kim (Kim), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

normal cup this morning. net winnings: one measly cuppa.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i got the roll-up cup this morn. the only reason i've gotten anything this time around (okay i won 1 coffee) is cause me boss doesn't fancy donuts and gave all the free ones to me (like, 5).

dyson (dyson), Monday, 19 April 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

The roll up the rim cups are being rationed now. I got one. Also a beige donut!
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/ilx/beige-donut.jpg

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 23 April 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I've won twice, which is ass.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 23 April 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I find it kind of amusing that they would copyright something that amounts to - me "win donut" ungh!

Kim (Kim), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm reminded, yet again, of the four-assed monkey.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

tell me more of this monkey.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 24 April 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It has one more ass then the three-assed monkey.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 24 April 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Out of all the Tim coffees I bought, I only won a cookie and a coffee. Rip off.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Saturday, 24 April 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I WON NOTHING

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
REMIX

it is officially warm enough for iced cappucinos: discuss

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 16 May 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

More addictive than crack. I always ask for milk instead of cream though. That way tastes better and is more ass friendly.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 16 May 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn you! Now I want one... closest Tim Horton's is about five blocks west... hmmmmm

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

one touched my lips for the first time in a year and a half last week and i have been crazed with lust ever since

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate them. For I can not have them. Yet, I have to wait in line well every tom, dick and harry orders one. Tying up personal from simply pouring coffee into a cup, covering it with a lid and taking my one fifty five.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

the iced coffee at my local italian cafe is seriously an elixir of magic and truth and freedom and beauty.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 May 2004 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i just had another.

[mark p slumps off work chair to the ground, empty iced cappuccino hits floor with hollow ping, office carpet sucks him up in its undertow]

*cue 'perfect day'*

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Just went to Tim's and got an Egg Salad Sandwich combo with a Boston Cream and a large chocolate milk iced cap as the drink. It's now one of those "I'll take the zero" situations.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds like the perfect meal.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I'd like to have it all over again. I think I'll get them to leave the lettuce off of the sandwich next time.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Bastards, now I need a coffee.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

nine months pass...
I'm 0 for 8 so far. Odds are still 1 in 9, which means the next one is the lucky one.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

GODDAMMIT

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:12 (twenty years ago)

I still can't cope with the title of this thread.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

I was wondering when this thread would resurface. I was a big losah this morning. My Tim's at Dundas and University sucks.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

We all big losah with rim-rolling nowadays.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

I'm pissed because I had that super-lucky feeling when I was carrying it back to the office too. I was eyeing all the good prizes on the cup, and then coffee was gone, the big moment... nada. Bastards.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

yeah, are you a paradiso medium man? or no wait, you must be a paradiso dark. we have one in our lobby, and i usually do spend the extra to go there instead of Tims (because of aforementioned Tim's location suckage, and the fact that I'm lazy, and it's been freaking miserable enough out there that even a trip across the intersection intimidates me into staying inside) boo wintah

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 02:58 (twenty years ago)

How much coffee do you drink anyway? (I lost again today)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:04 (twenty years ago)

One a day plus iron. (Plus one or two more coffees.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 03:28 (twenty years ago)

dammit - a week later and a coffee every day and still de nada de winnah, but while waiting in line, i did see a guy screaming at and pretty much assualting a woman (who he didn't seem to know) just outside my Tim's. this was at 8am and she ran off into the cop shop right next door while some burly guy chased the first guy off. is there something making people go crazy around here or what?

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 March 2005 03:44 (twenty years ago)

It is the lack of de winnah that is making people going de nutto.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 17 March 2005 03:59 (twenty years ago)

yeah, you know a coleman camping package would surely restore the natural balance.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 March 2005 04:02 (twenty years ago)

Tim Hortons Stock Jumps on 1st Trading Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Shares of Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons Inc. soared 30 percent Friday in their trading debut on the
New York Stock Exchange.

The shares, trading under the symbol "THI," rose to $30.11 in late morning trading, up from its initial public offering price of $23.16 per share set Thursday night. They traded as high as $33 earlier in the session.

The company is being spun off by corporate parent Wendy's International Inc., based in the Columbus suburb of Dublin. Tim Hortons sold 29 million shares, netting $671.6 million for a 15 percent stake in the company.

Wendy's, which bought Tim Hortons in 1995 in a deal worth $620 million, will continue to own about 160 million shares of the Tim Hortons shares, according to a filing this month with the
Securities and Exchange Commission. Wendy's could reduce its stake to about 83 percent if the IPO's underwriters fully exercise an overallotment.

Wendy's plans to spin off its remaining stake to its shareholders by the end of the year, according to the SEC filing. Most of the money will be used to pay off debt Tim Hortons owes Wendy's.

Wendy's shares fell $2.20, or 3.4 percent, to $62.81 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

a lot of times it seems. i'm kinda pissed off for another reason tho - sort of limiting my caffeine intake at the moment, so yesterday i got a large hot chocolate instead and they wouldn't give us a roll up cup for it. wtf, i don't remember that ever being a rule?

Hello, Canada!

clemenza, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 17:44 (fourteen years ago)

That's bullshit, Kimmo. I think they have to give you a cup even if you don't buy anything.

On behalf of Canada, hello, clemenza.

Bryan, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

I'm deep in the heart of Brampton right now...My co-worker came in this morning and said Roll Up the Rim is her favourite time of the year after Christmas (or maybe it was the other way around). I always buy a small each morning; I've got to remember to switch over to a medium. By the way, when I showed this thread to her and she read the post above about the hot chocolate, she said that's totally wrong. I think Kim may have a lawsuit on her hands.

clemenza, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

1 for 2. Free coffee. Bittersweet given what's happened to Kim.

Bryan, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't know this thread existed till today. I love how seven years ago, a hockey discussion breaks out in the middle of a thread devoted to a donut store. Man, I love my people.

clemenza, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 18:01 (fourteen years ago)

i'm pretty sure i should write a letter of complaint and hope for some free stuff. more likely to be successful than buying coffees anyway.

Kim, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

it can be any "hot beverage"! and also, according to the content website faq:
"I rolled up the rim and won with a "WIN COFFEE" tab – can I substitute this for another prize?
Yes. A "WIN COFFEE" tab can be redeemed for any size of any one hot beverage. No other substitutions are allowed. Not valid with any combos or other deals."

if you write to them, they will prob send you roll-up rim cup and who knows what else?

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

i only ever go to tim hortons when driving towards toronto or ottawa it seems! i need to do that before contest ends! i cannot even deal with their coffee on any level, so it's tea or hot chocolate for sure

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:04 (fourteen years ago)

Agreed. But the steeped tea is quite acceptable to a moderate tea snob such as myself. Of course asking for "steeped tea" always brings on Seinfeld-type "what's up with that" thoughts. I mean how else can you serve tea? Raw? What's up with that?

everything, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

Bryan, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:11 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like they don't have the 'steeped tea' at every location. or they do and my skepticism about it has caused me to ignore it's existence! i tend to just get earl grey, which is yr regular tea bag in hot(ish) water.
now i really feel a need to roll up the rim. and eat a chocolate glazed donut. ohman.

xp
are there more tim hortons in vancouver now? i remember there being not many at all in the city proper, but further out, yes. which is sad when all you want is a chocolate glazed.

There are tons in Vancouver now. There's one on Commercial Dr, several downtown. One on the corner of Main/Broadway, there's a drive-thru on Terminal near the skytrain, one next to the library etc. Pretty much everywhere. All in the last 3 or 4 years.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:25 (fourteen years ago)

There was some community resistance to the one on Commercial Drive, taking business away from the older Italian joints or the hipster hangouts with "good" coffee. Locally respected fringe ranter Kevin Potvin kept writing about it in his paper which was kind of the last straw for me, in terms of picking it up. First point is that there is NOWHERE on Commercial Drive that sells doughnuts apart from Tims. I've got a right to eat what I like even if it is fried dough. The second point is that Tims makes coffee available for the really poor folks on the Drive, since their coffee is about $1.40 rather than $2.30 a cup, which is approx what everyone else sells it for. Third point is, can't you take your anti-corporate rant to some of the other big businesses on the Drive, of which there are many. EG. when was the last time anyone took down HR Block. I'm sure there's a lot of independent tax accountants that hate those guys.

everything, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, there's a bunch of them attached to Esso stations. They're ok in a pinch. x-post

Bryan, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 16:42 (fourteen years ago)

is that really what you think of me Bryan? i'll admit that i sometimes put real vanilla in real coffee, but those things are grossly oversweet - only rarely drinkable if diluted by half with coffee (apparently my one time recommendation of the Kriek beer has tarnished my taste rep for all time?!)

Also: I think the whole two-chances-to-win thing is a ruse. The odds are supposed to be 1 in 6. I'd estimate I've bought 30-40 coffees the past month, and I've won three times--1 in 12, maybe (ignoring that it's 1 in 24 if you count each cup twice). I don't know how to do the math, but my guess is that the probability of a 1/6 event happening 1/12 times over 35 trials is low. I'm forwarding this post to Oliver Stone.
