donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

oh shit, don't need to do that anymore...

(OK, that was a bit forced this time, but you get the idea..)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

(Next thread: ILXers who parenthesize their multiple posts)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I do it. I'll confess.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

but only when I think of something right after I posted something.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I do that all the time.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

(And I'm addicted to parentheses.)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

nabisco to thread!

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

where is he?

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

he'd better bring jess with him.

hstencil, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a nice technique.

Chris P (Chris P), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

And it helps boost your statscock ranking.

Chris P (Chris P), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

(where is he indeed - not that I mean to imply that nabisco is absent, just that he's not here at the moment, which can also be said to be evidence that he doesn't exist at all - I have no idea why I just wrote all that, sorry)

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Sonny owns this thread

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

(if nabisco isn't here does that necessarily mean that he has to be somewhere else? I understand Hstencil's point but that doesn't rule out the possibility that er chicago modernism electro hubba hubba hoo)

Ditto me.

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(And Chris P. is OTM re. the statscock.)

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(never occurred to me)

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my plan is that if you say enough stuff people will get bored and not bother disagreeing with you, meaning you can pretend you were right all along.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Pretend? ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I like seeing my name on the screen, so I do it.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Also there's something about wanting a post to be a discrete entity, with its own dramatic arc, and so if there's an afterthought post you sort of want it separate. Plus if you spend long enough thinking about something and posting about it, you're gonna keep thinking about it after you hit "submit," and quite possibly think of something else. Unless Graham can cobble together some sort of brain-diverting submit tool, like once you submit it zaps you over to a picture of something random that completely shifts your train of thought. This is not, by the way, an intentional second post for comedic effect.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

[but i prefer brackets]

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel guilty when I do this. Like I'm taking up too much space. Does it offend anyone when there are multiple posts by one poster?

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

and I'm not going to make the stupid joke of posting multiple times in a thread about posting multiple times

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I only do it when corecting something.

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I do it, but not cavalierly

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Nick, suck that statscock dry!

Chris P (Chris P), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 06:02 (twenty-two years ago)

:D Chuggin the statscock for all its worth like bitter memories of lovely days long gone by.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I never do this

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

so there!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

oh but I probably do, coz I like to correct my posts sometimes, I could just edit them, but that'd be an abuse of power.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't do this as much as the rest of you ugly fuckers.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

But I do follow up to apologize sometimes, because I am worried about offending anyone. Or just to show that I was joking-hahaha!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Your lame attempts to claw your way up the statscock are doomed to failure, my friends.

Oh, and Doomie to thread!

yo.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've done it before and I'll do it again!

Yeah, usually just when I think of something post-posting.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too. I will have forgotten to add something I meant to write the first time. I bet it's pretty annoying though, sorry.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

At least

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

But not this time! corect=correct

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 November 2003 01:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I tend to do this a lot, I think. Usually the second one is parentheses. Lately, though, they've been turning into x-posts, which is no good, because by then, my second point seems trivial, rather than a momentary afterthought.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 17 November 2003 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I should do this more often.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

It would increase the number of posts I have after my user ID on that "Users" list thingy.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Except, I would have to type really fast or something.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, to ensure that nobody posts in between the posts I make.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

That would make the exercise of posting multiple times in a row completely and utterly a waste of time and make what I was saying seem completely nonsensical.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I've been able to do this thing multiple times!

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay!!

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

but I don't let them go anyway

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

'cause they make *me* laugh

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

and I'm all about keeping me amused

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth told me that if no one responds to you, the best thing to do is to post a follow-up yourself.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

While he may have been facetious, I find this well and good advice indeed.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

he follows his advice

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth, wherever you are, those are wise words, indeed.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I should try that... um, the next time that should happen, that is.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I ought to try to post a new thread in re: something I don't think very many people would be interested in.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I think my butt got bigger over the weekend.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!!

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I know.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Either that or my jeans shrank. In the butt.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

*looks at own big butt in mirror*

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds bad.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Howver, I like big butts.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hon, I've had a big butt problem since the day I was born, practically.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

*laugh* If you like big butts... wow.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

And I am prohibited from telling you an untruth.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I like to think of it as part of my charm.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I totally wish you had a guy counterpart out there.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be totally cool to have someone dig the fact that I've got a butt that's got its own zip code, almost.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

(Note: I may be exaggerating a bit here.)

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I do somewhere. Lots of people like big butts.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd much rather have curves than not.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Coolness!

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Most men I know feel that way, too

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think working on my lumps overall would be much easier than working on getting a different body shape than the one I had even when I was totally athletic.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Most guys, you say?

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

*laughs* Welcome to the Readers' Digest version of the "This is the thread where I say:".

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just going to continue posting here.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

You know -- one sentence at a time.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

If you want to work on it, then cool - but I will tell you I think you're beautiful just as you are.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

*hugs luna fiercely*

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

And yes, most guys I know would rather have Kate Winslet than Kate Moss.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

That means a lot, especially considering what your physical appearance is like.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It's true baby - part of it is physical, part mental. I hope one day you see it, too.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I will NEVER be a Kate Moss, but working to be a Kate Winslet would be easier than working to be the body type of your average Hollywood actress.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I look like something that should live under a bridge and eat goats when I wake up, believe me.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

well i don't mean hollywood actresses - they're unrealistic - too plastic. you're... real. and it's wonderful.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna (i.e. Jennifer Garner's doppleganger), I've seen that picture of yours that you most recently posted a link to.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

God, I feel just like Tim Regis in Complex.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yup, heavily made up and wearing false eyelashes and glitter. I rarely look like that. Notice I haven't posted the ones in front of the tv in my sweats eating cheetos?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

(*laughs* I wonder if Ned would kill me for bringing up that reference.)

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I could see the resemblance even underneath all the accessories and fakery.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, we've totally taken over this thread, haven't we?

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't so much, but we are who we are. I'd much rather have your dimples and your smile.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

what else is new?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I excel at that.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

*looks at reflection in mirror and sees dimples and smile intact, despite the lumps*

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I'm rejoicing at the mo.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that kind of freaks me out, all these people I know getting married and having babies and all of that.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

And realizing that my parents were all settled down by the time they were my age. Ah well.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

My friend saw a thing on Cosmo or something saying "How to tighten yr butt!" and she was really surprised, everyone wants big ol' asses now, ask Andre 3000

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Cosmo has always been the anti-butt.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Just ask Sir Mix-a-lot!

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

He ragged them on it in the "Baby Got Back" lyrics and video!

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I should institute strict physical standards for the guys I date.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Well word to him, man. I tend to forget that Cosmo etc are more about preventing other women from hassling you behind yr back than actually looking good etc, I guess.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

("You must be at least this tall to ride me.")

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Cosmo sucks

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Cosmo did more damage to my self-image as a male than advertising ever will

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i r not joking

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Cosmo is evil. My college roommate has a complex about her butt because she has a really muscular build, so I cut out that lotion ad that has a closeup pic of a woman's ass and left a caption that she was the ass model. It went on the fridge, so there was this huge pic of an ass on our fridge.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I've always been very open-minded about how guys look.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, that was an xpost.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

What'd it do, Jim? I bet it'd cover me too, whatever it was

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

my pre-teen brain got the impression that all men were bastards

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess they probably are, but i didn't need to hear it at such a young age :)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

reading cosmo always made me fell kinda strange

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

But in spite of all that open-mindedness, the guys I want always instead hook up with someone else.
:^P

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

So Cosmo is evil to all, regardless of gender. Never realized.

(I hear ya, j.lu)

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

And on some level I'm seriously afraid I'm becoming that damn nun.
:^P

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

What nun? It's possible, you know, to be single and still plenty impure... ;)

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

INvoluntary celibacy is still celibacy.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Sophomore year in a Catholic high school, a nun came in to lecture us on birth control.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:15 (twenty-one years ago)

She was medically accurate, but very very dour on the subject.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:16 (twenty-one years ago)

With involuntary celibacy, there's always the chance of that changing though. And you don't have to do all of that praying. Or, well, maybe you're just praying for something much different from what a nun would pray for.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so glad I didn't go to Catholic school. (until college, but they're much cooler in college)

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not as afraid of one day becoming my mother, as I am of on some level becoming that nun.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

bust out the leather, then.

or the pourable liquid latex.

Jay Dee Sah Mon (Kingfish), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

it'd be funny if these 204 posts were all by the same person

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I do this all the time but no one ever notices cause it's all on my own obsessionary threads that no one else ever contributes to or even reads (except to stick occasional toes into my own private madness).

Citizen Kate (kate), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

the thing to do.....

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

...Kate, is to link to your own obseesional threads from mainstream threads. Go off on a tangent on a mainstream thread, link to your more obscure one....

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

...and (who knows?) you might discover that someone on here *shares* your obsession, but I can see that....

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

...on the other hand, you might want to keep the interest concerned ('own private madness') if you will....

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

...all to yrself!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

On those days when i've noticed myself slipping depressingly down the statscock, I dream of being able to write a script to auto-post. I'm sure it's not technically impossible to do this. I am also sure that i don't want to piss lots of ppl off by doing it!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

every other post is a multiple post for me

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 November 2003 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, like people in the middle of a 500-post war are really going to stop and go read a gentle thread about Dr. Spivey's documentaries. Sigh.

I will NEVER be a Kate Moss, but working to be a Kate Winslet would be easier than working to be the body type of your average Hollywood actress.
