It's happening again - the pub crawl elimination game loosely based on Big Brother. An afternoon boozing in central London, much laughter and fun, taxing philosophical questions, a few surprises, a possible appearance by GEETA!!! and so on.

Do you want to play? Do you want to watch? If you do say so on this thread, where we'll also post details of start time and initial pub.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds fun - will this be in August? as i am real skint at present

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

August 2nd!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like to play again.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds good

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay me too def! more detail tho pls!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm up for this.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

How does it work, Tom?

Nathan W (Nathan Webb), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

(i wd very much like to be in on this but also of course have to be on hand to ferry geeta to her place of stay etc)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

How it works (in brief)

12 contestants plus audience assemble in first pub. Crawl begins. 2 'evictions' in each pub based on votes of fellow contestants (and/or audience). 'Evicted' contestants go to 'home pub' (last one on the crawl). At last pub everyone votes on the WINNAH!

'Tasks' along the way mostly (but not entirely) in the form of answering ILE Thread style questions. (eg "What is the worst thing you have ever done?"; "If you owned a newspaper what would be in it?"; "Show us your blow job face" to name but 3 from previous years).

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I wd like to watch, rather than get picked on again for liking sport.

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

this sounds great, I am even half tempted to join in rather than just observe!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

"If you owned a newspaper what would be in it?"

Chips

I think i best watch to be honest groups of people tend to dislike me

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Shall we see how far I get this year?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

my phone has been on repeat dial voting you out pete since the date wz first mooted

mark s (mark s), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The curse of minestrone is not to be underestimated.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

The curse of Baxendale is greater LEST WE FORGET Ricky T.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

So who are the contestants then? I am so very intrigued by this! Which pubs are involved?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Tcha, that curse has weakened thanks to my cunning tictacs of not answering any of the later thread questions properly.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to play. but watching is ok too.

hopefully I won't be too busy working that weekend but for now, I'm in.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

urgent & key: will there be a BB style swap with one of the contestants joining a table of strangers for a round or two and one of them participating in Trig Brother for a pub or two?

also will pete be sent to australia after he inevitably gets evicted?

zebedee (zebedee), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Zebedee this will be a back-to-basics Trig Brother but with some surprises.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

All very exciting def! (even if i am easily pleased!!)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

You can send me to Australia if you want. I will inevitably npot win, but I might get further than you think.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I sit in the RI:SE studio and comment inexpertly as the "Johnny the Fireman and previous loser" figure.

ps Iain Lee did "Are you a Benny tied to a tree?" to Gos this morning.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Gah! I am going to miss this AGANE! *sulks*

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

(Phew - that's a hotly tipped favourite out of the running.)

Pete (Pete), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

"Are you a Benny tied to a tree?"

Alan - please enlighten the erm....unenlightened

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Alan you have to sit in the RI:SE studios and explain Iain Lee's "jokes"

mark s (mark s), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

or just explain Iain Lee.

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll play. (I might regret this later)

Anna (Anna), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey it's looking like a strong field this year!

(Not to discourage anyone else, of course!)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't remember the punchline of that fucking benny joke.

nb my "i'm up for this" above = i wd like to play, if that wasn't clear.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

There is no punch line, the joke exists only in the gestalt-sight of the second person's face, wanting to make a choice but scared of all options.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

For the flash enabled: http://www.benny-tree.co.uk/

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

can I be Dermot?

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Depends, can you do the moves like Dermot?

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

you know I got it baby

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

haha i love that, i started off as a bif fat benny but then i changed my mind and i was still a benny **slaps forehead simpleton style**

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Any chance of the roundup of the rules?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Rule 1: don't talk about Trig Brother

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

and rule 2???

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I forget...

chris (chris), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

don't talk about love, don't talk about romance...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

dont talk about Trig from Fools & Horses

stevem (blueski), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Rule 2: DON'T TALK ABOUT TRI... no wait I got that wrong it's (consults folded bit of paper), it's No smoking

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm playing to win this time!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 July 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

hey! Can we have a PIRATE THEME????? please??

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't trust Jel, HE HAS A GAME PLAN!

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'VE SEEN HIS PLANK!!

mark s (mark s), Monday, 21 July 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

has he a PARROT?

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 21 July 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

A Ha! Ye shall just have to wait, a ha!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 July 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

as i mentioned on the geeta thread i have a wedding to go to that day (honest, and not just because i've been rub the last two years) but demand near constant text updates pls.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

So who is coming so far?
(and no this shouldnt be on the sexual innuendo thread!)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

um, is this something that would be ok for newish people to come along to? sounds a bit scary (in a i'm-feeling-shy kind of way) but also sounds pretty hilarious...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

As long as you know that you won't understand anything, yes. Then stuff that happens there, you'll be in on. We call this progress:)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

New people generally storm it, as petty jealousies and boredom of me telling the lie about my eye for the fifteenth time gets me booted out in round one.

Is much fun, come along.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

it is ideal for newish ppl to come along to, for you can watch honored oldbies trashed and overthrown by the power of democracy and mass spite!! (_____ must go!!)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes please come along, you'll be made very welcome and the structure of the event is ideal for 'ice-breaking'.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s has convinced me i think

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

hurrah!

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

colette & stevem (newbie my arse steve! come on u know u want to!) but still, i have never been or met any of them & me & my boy will be going to this. so we'll have our own little newbie table where we can all quake with nerves together!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i wasnt saying i was a newbie - i've been here for about a year now!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, i've been here for about the same time, we can do it together! Obv in the metaphorical sense!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Question One: Who would you like to do it with: obv in a metaphorical sense.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

whether i play or not depends on the strictness of the drinking rules. i have the stomach of a kitten which explains why it takes me about an hour to drink a pint of that warm gaseous urine they serve in most London pubs.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Well obv not Pete! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

It's fine we'll stick to shooters! oh yeah! (then again maybe not!) eating is the key for the day!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

There are no drinking rules to this game.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Though if you spill someone else's drink and don't replace it, you may have trouble avoiding swift eviction, as one prominent ILx0R found out in TB1.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Though there are drinking guidelines and gentlemens agreements.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

as the marshall, i am allowed to deputise a posse

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

oh god its still in the discussion stage and pinkpanther is on the shots already - whoa der girl

james (james), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Well u know me hun!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

You can drink whatever you want. Equally, people can nominate you for eviction based on what you drink. But if other people think that's unfair they can nominate accordingly too. And so on...

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! sounds so much fun!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

what area are the pubs most likely to be around?

james (james), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Soho.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yay again!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Pub steering committee have some exciting choices this year...

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

...especially if you're something of a beast.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Outdoor drinking? surely not?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

...especially if you're something of a beast.

the Intrepid Fox?!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

of course...

we're all going to die

chris (chris), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

oh no! rock pub! oh NO!

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

last year "rich house/poor house" was a couple of rounds where Tico bought everyone a round of proper booze on one table, and water on the other. This year, the reward room = WHAT EXACTLY? time off to play billiards? unlimited indonesian crackers?

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I wanna go to that goth dungeon pub again, that's where I got evicted last year.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

reward room = EVERYONE BACK TO ALAN'S!!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

No no Mark - did you not read. We are not doing rich house poor house this year. (Ha ha)

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

someone most be voted back in at the end!

and lets get a random person off the street and make them take park halfway through! ha!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

PETE MUST GO!!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

take part, I mean.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I swear, it's as if "Back to Basics" has lost all meaning to the people of a certain generation.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

first person evicted should have to go drink on their own for half an hour in the Walkabout on Charing Cross Road

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

peopel - can i get my boobs out asap

james (james), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

peopel = people (although i think peopel is a nicer way to spell it)

james (james), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

back to basics! yeah, lets have a Conservative Party circa 1990 approach!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I be sleazemaster general? I've got the voice.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear, the memories of the Barnet Ape and Crazytown.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there, of course. Unless my depression resurfaces to the point where getting voted out first would upset me, in which case I will not take part (I think this is unlikely), I would quite like to join in, if the lists are not already full. On eviction I can convince myself that I am the subject of age prejudice.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're here, then you've heard Pete sing. If not, FEAR!!

(Dammit, guess I'll have to wait til next year....*sniff*)

Course, pics better be in plenty!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I would take a camera but people usually shout "you better bloody not take a picture of me!"

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

So? Do it when they're pissed. They won't remember, will they;>?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't know what you lot have got against the intrepid fox, it's a perfectly serviceable boozer, the only difficulty would be seating more than 6 on a saturday afternoon as it's usually quite busy.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother clashes w/ Caption :-(

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

If James is allowed to get his boobs out, do i have to?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew L, Caption the small press comics con?

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

hahahaha, i demand someone swaps with a comic person (NB not martin)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

http://caption.org/2003/

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I might come (to watch) if I can scrape together the cash to get to Londinium.

In other exciting news, Matt and I (BB withdrawal perhaps as TV still banished?) have decided to turn our spare room into the Reward Room. Not sure how to work it yet... perhaps if Matt passes the task of making a nice dinner I will fill the room with sweets and pr0n and lock him in there for the night...

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

archel that sounds like a reward room fit for a king - but where is the lager

james (james), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Sweets and pr0n and lager then. Or Guinness.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

pinkpanther are you listening - see what archel does for her beau

james (james), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Our whole house is a reward room, we have plenty p0rn, loads of sweets & much lager! What's your point! Dude u even get to watch it with me sometimes!! heh heh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

When it's my turn to go in the room I want it to be a mini Legoland. With Guiness. And muffins.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

To encourage Archel to come to London, we have to provide her with her very own reward room!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Where you coming from?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The reward room will be made up to look exactly like the inside of a London pub.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ingenious!

(Brighton, Pinkpanther.)

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right of course!

Tim is a genius!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(I think a better idea is haveing the toilet as the reward room and if you don't pass the task then you've got to hold it all in).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, this is supposed to be fun, not torture!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Since when did torture != fun?

(Context: Mmmm Minestrone).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but not in the middle of a london pub!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll play! I have a TACTIC this year.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I have some tictacs!!

So where & what time is it then?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

TICTACS!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

reward room = arcade

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

only if its on freeplay

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

davina should pay! ha!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

arcade games yay! *drools*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother will announce the time and venue in due course. Trig Brother would like to remind you that this will be a Back To Basics Trig Bruv with a few surprises.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

John Major!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

If I can't play, can I be a chicken instead?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

martin in a chicken suit - the very definition of urgent and key

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Sod. I can't play Trig Brother as I've got to go to a hen do.

(Anna - I know you are a net godess, so if you find this I didn't really forget, honest.)

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 July 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Awww Anna, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 24 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Reward room = gameboy advance x 4 with link cable and Zelda game.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

WHen Anna started talking to Anna I though maybe it was Toby posted from Anna's but then got confused about the hen do.

Martin is going to a chicken do.

Sarah - what is your tactic this year, because last years tactic really didn't work.

I'm all for Davina playing.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

"Shandy" and "not drinking on empty stomach" therefore avoiding last years tactic ugh ugh.

Alan's reward room sounds grebt. DDR bonus round!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Shall I bring my gameboy? I have Pokemon Sapphire, but guess what, I'm stuck :(

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

WHen Anna started talking to Anna I though maybe it was Toby posted from Anna's but then got confused about the hen do

No, I am Anna F. My soon to be married friend is Anna B. She is a web designer marrying a sofware programmer. I am afraid of admitting I'd forgotten her hen party, because she knows all that takes place on the internet (well, almost).

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Not all surely?!! *shudders*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 24 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, i told anna i'd do better than her in trig brother and i've been proved right already!

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 24 July 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Toby is this year's winner! oh no wait...

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 25 July 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

bump.

myself and mr hopkins did a reconnaissance mission on saturday, to make sure all the pubs selected are open on a saturday afternoon, which was fully successful, you're all going to have a great time ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 28 July 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s will make sure there's plenty of coffee around geeta you haf no excuse!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 28 July 2003 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

He will bring coffee to all the pubs? That might not be appreciated by the landlords. Try to get some sleep on the flight over, Geeta!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 28 July 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

So who's up for this then? Who am I gonna meet?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

According to this thread, we have the following:

James
Pinkpanther
Toby
Mr. Skidmore
Ricardo T
Julio
jel
Stevem
Starry
I think Tag wants to play also.

Mark S and Geeta won't be able to do the whole thing but will be along with the watchers at some point.

A few maybes above: Collette? Alang? Cabbage? Anyone else?

Tim (Tim), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete is playing.

Isabel is probably watching.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be watching, Vicky may play though, eh dear?

chris (chris), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

what time will it start?

mark s (mark s), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I still have no idea what I'm letting myself in for.

Tag (Tag), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

For gods sake Chris! Yes, I'll play, if it'll stop you pestering me about it!

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Stelfox might be along according to the Dream Job thread.

How many contestants have you planned for, Tim? 12?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

So who's up for this then? Who am I gonna meet?
Obv I don't want to put anyone off with this!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

oh crap what i have let myself in for? well, no chickening out now - no letting go, no holding back (i'll be mostly drinking spritzers then)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem must go!!

mark s (mark s), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

who's going to join in halfway thru ala Lisa?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone want me to bring the Rummikub tiles, should a task be needed?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Liz and I will probably be there to watch part of the fun. Can't play as we'll be involved in an intensely competitive game of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit that same day.

robster (robster), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we've planned for 12 but we can always deal with a couple more. Possibly.

Watchers who want to turn up part of the way through should drop me an e-mail (this address) BEFORE SATURDAY. Saying nice things.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I was up for playing btw.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

For the purposes of this event, I wish to be known as:

"The Unstoppable Force"

jel -- (jel), Monday, 28 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

then i shall be the Immoveable Object

stevem (blueski), Monday, 28 July 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that's not going to help when we change pubs - is it.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 28 July 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Can i play? I haf forsaken the delights of Newport County vs AFC Wimbledon, so I think I deserve it. Honest guv.

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

SO:

James
Pinkpanther
Toby
Mr. Skidmore
Ricardo T
Julio
jel
Stevem
Starry
Tag
Pete
Vicky
Zemko Morningstar

Any more entries (or withdrawals)? That's looking quite full now. Strong field.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I may have to run a book on this.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 07:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris: you must.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 07:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll need a pork pie hat for Saturday then, and a dodgy assistant/enforcer.... hmmm I wonder what Jonnie's doing on Saturday

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 07:22 (twenty-two years ago)

just dress up as John McCririck, you know you want to

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

So what time's kick off?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother will announce the time and venue in due course. Trig Brother would like to remind you that this will be a Back To Basics Trig Bruv with a few surprises.

(also I missed Davey B off the list sorry Dave)

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I feel like I've just been told off!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother is the First Baby

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

thing is Tim we are shopping in the morning and coming from the sticks - we need to plan for when we leave in the morning

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother will announce the time and venue in due course. Trig Brother would like to remind you that this will be a Back To Basics Trig Bruv with a few surprises.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

haha only joking. We'll probably assemble in the early afternoon, and festivities will likely kick off at half two or something. But I don't think that's actually decided yet (do you ned it to be later / earlier?)

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

need not ned

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

you say that now

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

2.30 is fine Tim. maybe we should either give you our fone number or vice versa, just so that we can be kept up to date with any changes!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:33 (twenty-two years ago)

mark: yes

pp: yes. Is your email on here correct?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

At the moment, after carefully studying the field, I have three joint favourites at the moment:

Tag
PinkPanther
Vicky

rank outsider:
Ptee

Odds to be decided tonight

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

EXCELLENT! *flexes her fingers together*

I thought Archel was coming too!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno... I thought I might come to watch, but I'm not sure I'll have the money now. I'll see after payday (Friday)!

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I would advise any advice betting that I have a number of tricks up my sleeve and whilst being an outsider - I have had a good track record in the past.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

If that made any sense I'd shorten your odds

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Also being a favourite may well spell doom if the other contestants know you're a favourite.

That said I think a flutter on Jel given favourable odds might be tempting.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, hic, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, come on saturday Archel!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, you've probably given us (your favourites) the kiss of death ta!

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

So if you get evicted do you really have to go to a different pub? Couldnt I you just become a watcher instead?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah but Vicky, his favourite whats? that's the question!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

You want the moon on a stick don't you PP???!

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Obv, the betting will move around during the week people.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, fuck it. I am cancelling my Saturday afternoon park-and-lunch arrangements and coming to Trig Bruv. But will have to still be sober by the evening.

Early favourites never win proper Big Bruv, therefore I would like a flutter on Toby.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes you do really have to go to one - but evictees get sent off in pairs so there's no being stuck on your own without any company. And there's a settling in period before the first eviction.

(Or is there?)

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

He [Toby] was close to the top, I must admit. it was a near thing between him and PP.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

my email address is correct on here.

Oh please couldnt we just watch afterwards. You wouldnt even know i was there!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

that's the whole point PP, after you get evicted you go back to the home pub and bitch about those still in with the other evictees (i have had much practice of this). plus the pubs get smaller as the day progresses (there aren't many (nice) big pubs in soho), so there has to be fewer people...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

*sniff*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

as an early victim of the anti-sprt bias in TB PP I can confirm that drinking in the evictees lounge can be a liberating experience. Plus it gave us loads of practice on the bar billiards table.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

(being evicted is far more fun than being in, because you just get to sit around getting drunk and nattering, rather than having to come up with increasingly entertaining answers to increasingly bizzarre questions)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a cunning tactic by PP so everybody will be too kindhearted to vote for her early...BUT WILL IT BACKFIRE!

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it will _now_.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I doubt you'll be out early doors PP. Once we wrestle another Baxendale admission from Ricky T he'll be for it.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

who came where in the previous Trig Bruvs? no jokes please....or am i to search for the old threads?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

pete is not going to win after all the the stuff he stirred up last friday.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

wow i never thought PP could make me money betting but i'll stick a tenner on her success b'cos she's a cutey alright

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Is anyone going to volunteer to be Davina or has that already been predetermined?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i will bring my crappy video camera so people can take it into the Blue Post loos and make diary reports

(this may be a lie....then again it may be true)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Davina will be the same as last year though that cheeky chappie Dermot Hopkins will be shouldering much of the presenting burden.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

There will come a point, not very far into the proceedings, at which observers will no longer be allowed. Any communication with the Trig Bruv House after this point will be by mobile telephony only.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Quit it Tom, it is isnt a tictac!! heh heh! See what i did there! Starry is bringing tictacs too yay! erm...

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

a tenner? hmmm, people can we conspire to make PP not win eh?

sorry PP, but look what your man has done ;o)

Tom - Davina, no?

Tim = Endemol

???? = Dermot?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

can i just point out that our davina *isn't* pregnant...

(sorry tom ;))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

2001: Tim H won. Martin Robinson came second. Pete came third. Emma and DG were first to go.

2002: Alix won. Alan came second (and then got kicked out of the Glasshouse Stores IIRC). Ricky T came third. Carsmile and Cabbage were first to go.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

methinks i might be getting a little bit too excited!!
exchange of mobile numbers on mass methinks!

James, you're not helping! Ignore him people, he has tourets!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM NOT A TOURIST

oh fuck i got it bastard wrong bitch **spit**

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

(keep it up james there you go! we can nail these suckers!)
Love you all btw!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah PP, plummeting down to 10 to one on with her crazy shenanigans ;o)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh! Not really onv!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

So which pub first trig bruv?!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother will announce the time and venue in due course. Trig Brother would like to remind you that this will be a Back To Basics Trig Bruv with a few surprises.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i would love to see you take a shit

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

let me rephrase that..."ah wud luv to see you tek a sheet"

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

10 to one on ain't long!

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem to be evicted first!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve - I was waiting for someone to do that.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

anyone caught being Avid Merrion will be evicted and dismembered.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

federico / calspoonershops (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont know what im talking about (R.E. odds)

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Will the viewing public be offered the chance to send one of the contestants to South African Trig Brother, possibly at random, for the first contestant to utter the predetermined Secret Word.

(Note to the organisers - I think the Secret Word should be 'improv')

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother would like to remind you that this will be a Back To Basics Trig Bruv with a few surprises.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem federico to go! erm no hang on!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt - it's Back to basics TB.

Matt should be evicted for ignoring Trig Bruv!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi I'm Cameron, I'm 32. I live in Orkney, which is a little Island off the coast of Scotland.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

everyone could be given a chicken nugget to look after

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Or some chicken gravy to bribe Davina with.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i assume we will be allowed to swear, especially in light of james' tourette's syndrome

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Swearing and references to branded goods must be left out of any text messages sent to the audience.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

HEINZ BOLLOCKS BEANS

james (james), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The Trig Brother Crawl III rule book has seventeen rules. Here is rule 2:

2. Participants shall gather at The Blue Posts, Newman St (NSBP) at 2 pm on Saturday 2 August 2003. Any participant arriving after 2.30 pm that afternoon will be disqualified. This pub will be the ‘home pub’. Participants shall proceed from the NSBP to the second pub as directed by Davina.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

That's not a very good start if the theme is as I thought! Perhaps we are doing an all Blue Posts pub crawl - how many are there?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Trig Brother reserves the right to amend the rules without prior notice, Martin.

Updated list of entrants:
Dave B
James
jel
Julio
Martin
Pete
Pinkpanther
Ricky T
Starry
Stevem
Vicky
Toby
Zemko

Any more for any more? Anyone else getting cold feet? Can I remind anyone who wants to catch up and watch proceedings to e-mail me before Saturday so we can arrange things.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Can Davina have a list of the pubs please?

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 31 July 2003 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Davina can but I'm not sure everyone else can.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

My tactics are never to call them 'tictacs'.

I hope there isn't a task involving handbells. Bing. I think I am in with a chance because I've been a bit of a looker in my time.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 31 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I could kill someone with these two pints!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 31 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Apologies, but James & I arent going to be able to make it. sorry.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 31 July 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

aw, that's a shame.

for any of you that haven't been to blue posts newman st, it is just off oxford street. if you are coming from tottenham court road (closest tube), you walk along oxford street until you see Dixons on the right (2 minute walk tops), the street that goes up there is newman street and the blue posts is about 200 yard up on the left hand side. it is currently covered in scaffolding, but is still open, tim checked specifically with the barman that this would be the case.

obv if you are coming from oxford circus or points west dixons will be on your left...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 31 July 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

:(

Do try and come to a FAP sometime, both of you.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 31 July 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

pinkpanther and james i am devastated

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 31 July 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

chris (chris), Thursday, 31 July 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

How might is might, Tom?

Provisional updated list of entrants:
Dave B
Isabel
jel
Julio
Martin
Pete
Ricky T
Starry
Stevem
Vicky
Toby
Zemko

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"Might" as in "when I mentioned it to her last week she said she thought she would but hasn't mentioned it since".

I will check. A 12th contestant would be good. And she knows the risks.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 31 July 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr hopkins - did you get my email?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know them. Could some kind soul let me know?

Potentially foolish (daveb), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just received a communique from none other than Katie G, informing me that she will be in attendance in a non competing capacity this Trig Bruv.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

God, you are wankers

Threadwatcher, Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers.

Mr Swygart: not yet but I can only check in the evenings. If you sent it today then probably; if you sent it before today then probably not.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i wont be at the day thing, but will probably turn up at the last pub maybe in the evening, which one will be last?

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

It finishes off back at the Blue Posts NS Gareth.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Matthew 20:16 : the last will be first.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyway - will be watching. Am bringing Dom Passantino along too.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry WBS, will you be able to make it for half past to to Newman St or do we need to make special arrangements?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

No trouble - he's coming down Friday night, going up London to buy patches or badges or something similar earlier on in the day. Will not be a bother, but I can email you my mobile number if you want.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 31 July 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

This is tomorrow.

chris (chris), Friday, 1 August 2003 07:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Should be a nice day for it.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Not if I can help it.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

dam you and your infernal weather machine

stevem (blueski), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I right in thinking that this year its a back to basics Trig Brother with a few surprises?

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

just a few surprises, yes Pete apparently.

chris (chris), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

and otherwise back to basics?

Admin dept may be able to update you Steve.

chris (chris), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I truly wish I had some kind electronical toy by which I could send live updates through to this thread. But I don't and it will be aback to basics TB anyway.

Do you have TB?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

is it possible to post to ILx by Wap? I know you can read it. V may still have her free Wap deal going.....

chris (chris), Friday, 1 August 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim,

Be nice. We've been through a lot together, old, buddy, pal, mate etc.

Dave

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't look at me, mate. I'm Dermot at best.

(BTW this is supposed to be fun and not some horrible boorish exercise in humiliation.)

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank fuck for that. Humiliation could send me over the edge, seeing as in the prime age group of post-millenial, post-welfarist mental disintegration.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry for the hassle but pinkpanther and i are coming to london now:

james (james), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

MOST EXTREME BID TO AVOID EARLY EVICTION EVAH!

(Sorry to hear the bad news James but I'm pleased that you two will be joining us... you're intending to play, I hope?)

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah baby you better believe it! James is just looking for the sympathy vote!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

grrrr yeah you too mark!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes there was a moment of worrying yesterday when it all went quiet. COme to London and drown your sorrows (cynic that I am though I am massively impressed by this tactic. Sly one.)

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, you are still not totally forgiven for last friday! And we're the sly ones?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

That suxor James. Enjoy tomorrow though! (I will NOT be coming to watch as forgot my friend is visiting from Nottingham, but I'll be thinking of you all!)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

What happened last Friday. All I rmember was desperately trying to save ILx from impending closure. And this is the thanks I get.

(I'm sure all will be forgiven once you meet me.)

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww that's a shame Archel!

Pete - hmmm! *eyes narrow*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in a Stanley Kubrick film - hmm! *eyes wide shut*

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey!

Tim - your number is now in my mobile - there is no escape!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

All calls to Trig Brother will be charged at a premium rate. Ask whoever pays the bill before you phone.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Text PinkPanther to 81145 to evict PinkPanther.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hey this is soo not fair!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought contestants wern't allowed to talk about evictions?

chris (chris), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah one strike against Pete already.

That sucks James, still think of it as one step closer to the trainer shop paradise!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

If anyone does text that number you get a nice text back from Channel 4 telling you that BB is over - and thanx for the 25p.

All is fair in love and Trig Brother. I think my card was marked last week.

Dear Trig Brother, is it alright if I clean up the vomit from the diary room chair?

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude i was gonna ask that, you're such a suckup!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry to hear it james but I'll see you two tomorrow and look forward to beating you all.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 1 August 2003 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there no compassion? ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

12 contestants, several pubs, only one winner, YOU DECIDE!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed and I will put in an appearance later, with Gareth.

Pink and James, commiserations but it will be good to meet you regardless.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 1 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth is now an exotic guest on both sides of the atlantic.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

oh btw i'm only watching as the emotional strain of one rejection is to much - anymore and i will crumple (plus i will be hammered and when im drunk i slur and no good ever comes from that

james (james), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Suzy that's great news, I was hoping you & Ed would be coming!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah & when james get drunk & starts insulting people, just remember his tourets & dont punch him!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ladies and gentlemen you have your drunk mentalist

james (james), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Now can I get some sympathy!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

*good thoughts for both of yers* :-)

I wanna be there tomorrow! Time for a late night flight. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

do it Ned, do it

james (james), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh so tempting, if I had the money I would be crazy enough (hm, see the Momus show and FAP with everyone tonight, leave LAX at midnight, eight hour flight to London, arrive at 4 to 5 pm in London, place frantic calls to cell phones, end up at Trig Brother...oh, what a dream).

But two very good friends' daughter's birthday party is tomorrow, and I shan't miss that for the world, much as I lurv ya all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

my strategy is water-tight.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

birthday parties for younger kids are great - gorge on the jelly and cake ned, GORGE

james (james), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

and steal their toys Ned!

(sorry 'bout the job biz james)

jel -- (jel), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

No Jel - that's your boat.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww Ned, still a b/day party is a b/day party esp when it's fro the kids!

See you all 2moro! have a nice evening!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, since this seems a thread you'll likely read... Do you still have that Uncut magazine?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, I have no strategy. I expect to get evicted quite early, and can't decide if I should visit the record and comics shops before Trig Bro starts, or during the period between my eviction and the end of Trig Bro fapping. Hmmmm...

jel -- (jel), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

If you go before it will be tempting fate - if you go after what happens if you win. Tricky stuff tactics.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 1 August 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

James, that's awful. I'm sorry. Anyway, looking forward to meeting both of you. And James wouldn't be the first evictee. I think someone else has that sown up, but of course I might be lying just to wind everyone else up, except I would never be so inconsiderate.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 August 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

At 3:39 am, I looked outside and saw Venus resplendant in the sky. I took it as a sign.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 2 August 2003 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

hey kids, i hadn't realised that meg was working today, which means joining you from 2 til 3.30ish is a go-er. i will however be in my "going to a wedding reception" clothes (assuming i switch off the interweb soon and go and buy some new trousers), so will possibly look rather smart (for me anyway).

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Saturday, 2 August 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

that will be quite a sight. thanks for warning us.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 2 August 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i have urgent goddaughter duties to attend to, soz chaps. may pop by blue posts in late evening

Chip Morningstar (bob), Saturday, 2 August 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Right them by my reckoning we have the following:

Dave B
Isabel
jel
Julio
Martin
Pete
PinkPanther
Ricky T
Starry
Stevem
Vicky
Toby

See you all in the Blue Posts in a little while, and some of you in a longer while. Zemko's withdrawal = ruination of my secret hunch for winner.

Tim (Tim), Saturday, 2 August 2003 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i've just dug out my glasto photos so i'll bring them along. i'm going to line my stomach with pasta and then jump on the bus (no jubilee line for me today, grr), so i'll see you all soon...

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 2 August 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

With barely an hour to go, this is the most exciting saturday afternoon I've had for days. And I'm still in my slippers and dressing gown. I fear it is too late to ask for updates of any kind, I will have to watch Sunday's episode.

Ally C (Ally C), Saturday, 2 August 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

txt update from stevem. stevem and pete voted out first

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 2 August 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

vicky won

Ed (dali), Saturday, 2 August 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

isobel 2nd, dave boyle 3rd. spanish bar mentalism is carrying on as i write. i need sleep.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 2 August 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah! Photos! Tales! :-) I wanna be at next year's.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 2 August 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem was in a terrible state, i left him with william bloody swygart and dom passantino in the spanish bar, tag was a london debutant i think, he was really nice and actually reminded me of Arthur a lot. geeta didnt say dude enough for me, but i managed iok

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 2 August 2003 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

although i was onlty there late, an d mssed most of the evictions, from the last 3 onwards i think dave boyle should have won. i also think he carried his shirt well

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 2 August 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Boyle is the UK Matos.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 3 August 2003 05:55 (twenty-two years ago)

or hstencil.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 3 August 2003 05:55 (twenty-two years ago)

purely on the shirt carrying off thing

Ed (dali), Sunday, 3 August 2003 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I was fifth, I feel I have let my fans down. Got a headache halfway through, but struggled on (with help of headache pill - thanks Starry), for the fans. You guys rock.

It was a fun day, and I observed alot of ruin, and I can't even begin to imagine the ruin after the Spanish Bar. It was good to meet some people I hadn't met before. I ph34r the photo's, I made a silly face every time the camera was pointed at me. Good to find out what a dirty crossword actually is.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 3 August 2003 07:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking that as TB photographer I should have gone to the Spanish Bar for documentary purposes. But then my camera would have been confiscated by the Hairy Man. Also this morning I feel alive which is a bonus.

Evictions in order:

Pete
Stevem
Julio
Toby
Ricky T
Vicky (recalled after miscount)
Martin
Pinefox
Sarah
Jel
Mark
Dave
Isabel
Vicky (winnah!)

Photos to follow on separate thread.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 August 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

jesus christ - the ruin.

sorry we left earlyish (about quarter to 11? I can't remember) we were both in advance states of ruinous parlosity.

chris (chris), Sunday, 3 August 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't even begin to imagine the ruin after the Spanish Bar

The ruin after the Spanish bar = stevem. A man so slaughtered that he asked to borrow money off me until he could get to a cash point, whilst leaning on a cash point.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 3 August 2003 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem = the new king of ruin!

I missed Dom and WBS!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 3 August 2003 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, Edith Bowman was in the Spanish bar. She didn't say "hi".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 3 August 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem was in ruin by about 8:30pm. the key word here is "cider".

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 August 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, if anyone ended up with my yellow exercise book/notebook thing then a) can I have it back and b) thankyou, I love you.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 August 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hi all - nice to put some names to faces yesterday, however brief the visit (for what it's worth i spent too much while shopping so shld have stayed!) - see y'all again!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Sunday, 3 August 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

OH MY HEADGOD

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 3 August 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

*listens to 'Zooropa' to ease 4th worst hangover of my life*

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 3 August 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

you rank yr hangovers?!

heavens! ;-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 3 August 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the concept of a headgod.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 3 August 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, Gareth is a good concept

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 3 August 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

the hangover has been promoted to 3rd

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 3 August 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem, you are a scholar, a gent and an utter booze mentalist.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 August 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I enjoyed my London debut enormously. Smashing to meet so many of you even if I didn't catch everyone's names. Special mentions to Steve for alcoholic heroism above and beyond..., Gareth for stealing all my cigarettes in the nicest possible way and Chris for bring to life my latent memories of the Mouly in Chesterfield. And of course to Tim, mein genial host. I salute every last one of you.

Tag (Tag), Sunday, 3 August 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

For the record, I was evicted omne place later than stated above!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 3 August 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

apologies for stealing your cigarettes tag, but i think i made up for it by buying everyone about 100 drinks in spanish bar;)

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 3 August 2003 22:34 (twenty-two years ago)

the trick is to rotate cider, JD & coke and Ayingerbrau on a regular basis

some memories are coming back - i am convinced i hugged either Sarah or Tim Hopkins, possibly both - someone all in black anyway

i also may have spilt someone's drink all over William Bloody Swygart i think, it may have been my own, but that's still not okay.

i remember yelling at Ronan on Gareth's mobile but have no idea what i said.

Dom's 'cashpoint' scenario is totally absent from my mind. i have no recollection of leaving the Spanish bar but i do remember haggling with various cabbies about the fare from Tottenham Court Road to Ruislip

any more blank-filling would be much appreciated

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

My kidneys are still aching somewhat.

Yesterday = write off, apart from finding recipes for pork pie and salt beef, that and cooking a steak the size of a large plate.

chris (chris), Monday, 4 August 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve, I hereby relinquish my crown.

Sorry I didn't make it along in the end - I was planning on going but in the end the lure of sitting out in the sun all day was too great. Plus I needed to be sober in the evening and by the sound of things that would not have happened.

I want more sordid gossip and task info, goddammit.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 August 2003 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i am convinced i hugged either Sarah or Tim Hopkins, possibly both - someone all in black anyway

Those darn goths all begin to look alike after a while don't they?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris has the task questions which he should post throughout the day if he can be bothered.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Not today unfortunately as they are at home, mind you , Vicky is copping a sicky (joking dear) so she may be able to put them up or summat. or even read them out as I was sensible enough to write them all down at the start while my handwriting was just about legible.

chris (chris), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, to the best of my ability:

Question 1 - What is the worst record/cd you own and love?
Question 2 - Should there be a trustifarian tax?
Question 3 - Animals are grebt - discuss
Question 4 - Taking sides - diagnosis murder Vs Ironside
Question 5 - This is the thread where you write your winning acceptance speech (digital spy intervened and said 'in only 5 words')
Question 6 - What is the best leer?
Question 7 - The words 'wank' and poo' are onamatopaeic discuss (not my spelling)
Question 8 - Don't blame it on the sunshine, don't blame it on the moonlight, don't blame it on the good times.. who should we blame it on, eh?

Brief interlude with Dirty crossword, which I'm ashamed to say was very very poor

Question 9 - Dr Kelly - Classic or dead?
Question 10 - I can't remember the exact wording, but it was along the lines of 'big butts, classic or dud?'
Question 11 - What's the most disgusting thing you've had in your mouth?

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember no. 11 being read out at the very start, but I was so drunk by the end of it, that I asked chris last night why the question hadn't been asked, as I had no recollection of answering it.

Anyway, I cured my fear of being own my own in the pub, as I had to wait for quite a while after Davina's miscount was discovered and I came back in. Clinging on to the bar, desperately trying to focus on reading the newspaper, while slurping on yet another G&T, meant that I had no time to worry about people thinking me sad/wierd because I was on my own, or having some sleaze come and hassle me. Mind you, I was probably scaring everyone around me, the state I was in!

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Question 1 - What is the worst record/cd you own and love?

No wonder Stevem was evicted so early.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I've scanned Digital Spy's notes, so they'll be going up, not that they'll make much sense, although it is interesting watching the handwriting and thought processes deteriorating as the day goes on. And if I could get away with burning them I would....

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i got voted out of dirty xword despite "I BLO TATU"!!

mark s (mark s), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

of = bcz of

mark s (mark s), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think we voted on dirty crossword! But then my memory of that evening is not to be trusted....

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

aha but i read the (so-called) reasons for my eviction this morning...

mark s (mark s), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve - you spilt the drinks over the table and most of them hit Dom. There was minor trickle damage on my trousers.

The cab situation did happen. We took you to McDonalds because Dom reckoned you'd be able to vomit better with some rubbish food inside you. There was a cashpoint there that you somehow got a tenner out of. We then went home and spent a fair bit of Sunday worrying about whether or not you were dead. It was friggin 'tastic.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark it was simple envy. Everyone on ilx would like to BLO TATU.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ah! I think Davina should have kept the reasons, or at least copied them down for posterity. Actually, I was accused of being mean in my reasons when I went back to the blue posts, so maybe it's best that they're forgotten about...

I hope no-one took it personally. (well not after sat night, anyway, I took mine far too personally on the night!)

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and you were shouting HARDCORE!!! a lot. We were unsure why.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Isabel was worried about her perceived meanness too. One day technology will let voters blog reasons straight to ILX by slurred voice recognition or some such.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

apart from isabel you were all mean to me.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

The last question was actually: 'What's the most UNACCEPTABLE thing...", in line with the legendary ILX thread of arse horror.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

But Julio, you got the joker, and got to chose the music in the second pub!

I was under the impression that drinking non-alcoholic drinks would stand against me, and so I don't want to think about how much alcohol passed my lips, so apologies for any out of character behaviour...

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry ricky, also the pinkpanther's question was 'sneaking out, classic or dud' but I don't know if that one got asked?

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I read the reasons for my eviction on the bus on the way home. I almost cried.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

''But Julio, you got the joker, and got to chose the music in the second pub!''

That was v 'nice' considering the sort of music I'm known for listening to.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

No there were two that didnt get asked. One was sneaking out and the other one was a question about my beard. Obviously it was complete coincidence that one went missing.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

yes tom that was my question you meanie!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

most embarassing thing was (apart from the Spanish bar ruin, AND my utterly rubbish answers to the first two questions) i nominated Pete, accusing him of quasi-racism, then had to spend the next hour or so with him teaching me the rules to bar billiards in the Glasshouse Stores. amazingly i don't think he minded and didn't make up rules in order for him to win - at least i don't think so...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The look of genuine horror and bewilderment on the faces of the Blue Posts regulars as the volume and spectacle rose to unbearable heights was my personal highlight of the evening. Not that I'm saying it was a good thing.

When's Rag Week next year?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The amusing thing is as me and Stevem got to the pub a stag night was in progress - rolling down the road. I warned the barman - I wouldn't let them in - they look a bit rowdy.

How grateful he looked.

How foolish he felt later.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

In the Dog and Duck we encountered a Monopoly pub crawl in progress and swapped crawling tips - that was nice.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

They were lovely people, I got a picture of them if I recall correctly (which, let's face it, is doubtful)

chris (chris), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Monopoly pub crawl = mission of mentalism. My successful attempt ended with a near miss pissing of pants incident.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris ducked into the star and garter to avoid such an incident, when moving between pubs, and was worried that the barmaid had spotted him so got a whisky and coke and downed it in one. No wonder he was so wankered!

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

she was informing me that the upstairs bar was shut rather than enforcing the "toilets are for patrons only" rule :o(

chris (chris), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I felt a lot better on Sunday than I had any right to really, though avoiding Spanish Bar ruin was obv a key help here. I was very pleased to have got so far. I think not talking about sport or football was a key determinant in my success, given Chris's experiences last year.

Many thanks for the kind shirt carrying off comments. I sadly am still wearing said shirt. And shorts. And Sandals. I am not a hippy, nor a crusty and have changed pants (to reassure all those who I see tonight).

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

five months pass...
Revive!

Jesus. My memory is appalling; I can't remember anything about this except i was robbed obv.

Whatever happened to the scanned notes taken by Digital Spy?

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 23 January 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

sshhh. Actually, I think they got lost when my hard drive died, as we arrange any hosting for them, and we all lost interest.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 23 January 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

My memories of this are similarly hazy. I remember Geeta turning up, Katie G proving to be top class sub editor material w/the headlines, arriving in Spain and very little else.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 23 January 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I'd been there. I *will* play next year (as I've been saying for the past two years).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I hadn't been so nice to Stevem now...
Quasi-racism indeed.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i shall treasure the day for all time. i wondered what happened to the notes too - now they belong to the ages.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

the originals may be hanging around our spare room somewhere

chris (chris), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

No, they were on the bookcase in the hall and I had a tidying up and throwing out session, and they'd been sitting there since august, so they went in the bin.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

boooooo, bad vicky ;P

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Vicky won, so as the Queen of Trig Brother she can do whatevah she likes! *crosses arms*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I demand a stewards inquiry. Had the masses known then what they know now, the result would have been difficult. Of this I am sure.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I don'tthink people knowing that in actuyality you are a mentally retarded abused paedophile murderer played clumsily by Tim Robbins would help you owt Dave.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

dave IS NOT mates with sean devine though (to my knowledge)...

i'd forgotten vicky had won (and thus maintained the glorious record)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I think next year we should ban Sinister people from voting.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember coming 3rd or was it fourth? Actually, I only just got some pictures developed from the day...a shadowy Tom, and a pic of Chris, Tim and Mark laughing. I also got a really bad headache that day. It was fun though. Dunno if I'll be playing this year, I may retire.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

the pictures from the follow-up thread have been misplaced it seems

more importantly...

OH MY GOD I JUST FOUND THIS - EVERYONE LOOKS SO WEIRD/YOUNG!!!!!!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth in THAT Moog t-shirt....beardless Tom Ewing....Tim Hopkins looking about 19...i'm overwhelmed

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, great pics!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

That T-shirt was such a bad idea. Still I am the only ILxor who appears to have lost weight.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i think DG has as well judging by when i last saw him in The Harrow

question - is that really the same Emma?????

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

She has regenerated since then.

Obv Emma is thinner too, and all the girls (just in case I get beat up), and DG. Hopkins looks like Zammo.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i refuse to believe this took place less than 3 years ago. shame there don't seem to be any pics from the 2nd one

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh heh heh. If only I had had a better scanner to work with.
