3 new weblogs (plus one coming next month)

7 new articles.

Loads of little things I need to change (eg the kitten)

But fuck it, I'm off to get a beer in. I'll start separate article response threads later, or you can do it yourselves.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

this looks fantastic, i'm going to read it all now. is pumpkin publog taking on new writers? i've always fancied having a go...

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Test Post 2 is OTM

bunting (zebedee), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

lookin good, nice inter-weaving of everything, hurrazah

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha was Test Post 2 not deleted? That means THE BUZZ is still there.

Yes Toby - ask Pete.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, I heart you...seriously. It was a vacant space without The Trigger. (dry tone)Any one brave enough to actually say they adore The Rapture with a straight face deserves the Purple Heart. The article almost made me feel like I was sweating through Glasto with all of you....without the warm, expensive beer, scary food and falling down drunk face first into rubbish.

(if you are looking for any more articles, I'm open....)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Kitty!

More thoughts later, for now rah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't wait to read it! Access to the site is blocked at work (maybe because of the "Freaky" part of the domain name made it sound like a freaky porn site? I don't know...), but I will be reading it when I get home.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

It's tres spiff, Larcole. :-) I must sign up for the Pumpkin blog now...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

That gave me a fright! For a second there I thought you meant that a Smashing Pumpkins blog was part of the new site.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think you should delete the kitten.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Got summat against the Pumpkins do we, Lars;>?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Larcole unfortunately has fallen into grievous error on this point, Nichole, but it is part of the warp and woof of life.

Any, Pumpkin blog = food and drink = the blog of goodness for all!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The warp and woof of life?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, didn't you hear about the packs of roving canines that are part of the UCI subculture?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep forgetting that most of Ally's preferred lit was created after the Industrial Revolution. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I've already got another blog entry cookin' up.

Mandee, Wednesday, 6 August 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it will take awhile to get used to and warm up to. I'm not really sure what to make of it yet.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 7 August 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, master Yoda, I'm sorry I said anything about your ridiculous manner of speaking.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

remind me: who do you hafta fuck to write for this dillyo?

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

N. That's how I got in, at least.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

N.: it's turkey time

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

GOBBLE GOBBLE.

A. Lo (mlescaut), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, this is magnificent.

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

That explains a lot.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, bravo Tom et al.

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Thursday, 7 August 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well the morning sun has risen on the new dawn of Freaky Trigger.

Pity about that darn cat. I'd like to big up in particular the spectacular Lara Croft article by Magnus.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

It all looks great but how about updating the links and Urgent and Key?

robotchant (sine), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Bootiful! In every sense.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I started an NYLPM thing last night but was interrupted by some prawns.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Roy Keane to thread!
(New FT marvellous- congrats to all involved)

Richard Jones (scarne), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaah! It's gone again! Well, the frontpage has. Or did I dream it?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I can still see it Andrew.

Perhaps you've been banned.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

update the links Tom.

robotchant (sine), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a frontpage different from the FreakyTrigger club flier? I though there was (with cat photo, and maybe links to articles), but I only get the flier now. Anyway, can anyone give me a link to the Magnus article, then?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I <3 Freaky Trigger.

I'm kinda scared of this new one though. It seems a bit more 'no bullshit, back to basics'. Maybe my low self-esteem is projecting again.

David. (Cozen), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It's just crappy BTconnect propagating Andrew.

David there is plenty of bullshit still required - talking in a pub demands it!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Here: http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk/lara.html

robotchant (sine), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Freaky Trigger is superb and has effectively neutralised any chance I had of getting some work done today. Thanks guys!

robster (robster), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

'Pretty' bullshit?

David. (Cozen), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm all in favour of prettiness!

I want somebody reading one article to have very little idea what kind of style to expect from the next one.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you thinking about adding new links to NYLPM?

robotchant (sine), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Dear Mr Robotchant

All things come to he who wait. The co-editors are all at work and will get to your request as soon as humanly possible. We cannot all be chanting robots.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

more's the pity

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I'm going to revise the NYLPM links but it won't be until later - what link in particular were you thinking of robotchant?

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry :-( Its not that important.

robotchant (sine), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I think that this is a quite specific thread heading for ruin.

David. (Cozen), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

(Oops, that's where that went.)

David. (Cozen), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The staff of FT do have their antiquarian side mind you.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

it looks good and I like the range of articles.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

also BIG UP to alang who did the design-y stuff and hard html-y things

FORM > CONTENT ;)

also i am truly honoured to be mentioned in the first BW post :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve is The Buzz.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes THANKYOU ALAN! Putting the credits up on the front page is another thing we need to do.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Thirding thatt thanks to Alan - even if he has left the nasty stench of Kittenb around the gaffe.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

aw, shucks. Take that cat pic out. Something from Trig Brother perhaps...

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The cat pic was my favorite part so far.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The kitten works as a credit in itself. Hands up who knew that was Alan's work without having to read his name?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I've set it up on my favourites so it misses that page I must admit as 1) i ain't too big a fan of them kitten pics (yes yes, I hate fun etc etc) and 2) It's a little lurid and noticeably not-work for work

chris (chris), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Hands up who knew that was Alan's work without having to read his name?

*hand going up* I d...oh, wait....

I like what I've seen so far. I've asked Pete if I can scribble for "Do You See", though I'm drawn to NYLPM too. I can only hope my musings make as much sense.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 7 August 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

This is fantastic.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 7 August 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't it? Oh yes, article from you in next issue please. On anything. Personal request. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea whether it's local to me or not, but www.freakytrigger.co.uk gives me the flyer, www.freakytrigger.co.uk/index.html gives me the proper front page.

The "pass the Mic" article is fantastic. The fifth paragraph reminds me of my first post ever

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I am liking this a lot more now, I think maybe the change was so dramatic that I was a little taken aback at first. The blogs are fantastic, and I have enjoyed the articles a lot.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Further improvements (thanks Alang) - the main page now alerts you to recent blog updates!

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

erm do i have to put the first sentence in bold to get into the blog updates?

(not that i mind, i'm just puzzled)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think so Mark - your thing about the Polynesian takeaway was showing up yesterday. It takes a bit of time to detect though.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

You have to put the first few words in bold anyway though or be devoured by a troll with iron teeth.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

=0

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Are there going to be links on Brown Wedge? Not that I am the impatient type.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

MARK PLZ SEND TRANSCONTINENTAL POLYNESIAN TAKEAWAY THX

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

ok it just showed up: i shall try and remember to bold my grabby openers in future

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

the front page blog links are done automatically twice an hour (20 past and 10 to)

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Er ulp yes there are Archel but first I have to find some. Suggestions much appreciated.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

how does one contribute? I sent an email to freaky and never got a response. am i not allowed to write about shitting my pants? not that i would.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Pressing Refresh helps too.

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Chris, sorry for the non-response! I've had all sorts of nonsense on my plate the last week or so but I'm going to get to the hotmail backlog at the weekend I hope.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool, thanks Tom.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Must submit blog stuff tonight. Darn that actual work yesterday.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim, my favourite literary site is www.themodernword.com, but I don't know if you just want to have links to things genuinely realted, like contributors' sites.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 15 August 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't really thought about it very hard. I suppose the sensible answer is probably both. thanks for that link though.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 15 August 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I just saw again the new Freaky Trigger, and read Tom E's article.

I'm afraid that I think it is far from Tom E's best work. I am not quite sure why - maybe in its tone it feels like an average magazine editor's copy, rather than the distinctive and individual writing and thinking that Tom E has sometimes produced in the past. I hope that Tom E is not offended by such reflections.

I am also not sure that Tom E should be so content when someone tells him his site has been 'Increasingly Irrelevant'. Irrelevant to whom? To what? To where? It all depends. One thing we know is that there are many perspectives. Even on FT, that has been the case.

But I suppose that Tom E was saying: 'Yes, I agree - it's irrelevant to me too'.

As far as I can see, the new FT, and the new web log services, do not have a function saying 'talk about this article -->'. This seems to me a step backwards, especially as one of the things that Tom E's piece says is that he wants it to be more like a pub conversation. I am finding that if I want to say anything about the texts on the sites I have to say it in odd places like this.

the pinefox, Monday, 18 August 2003 09:34 (twenty-two years ago)

perhaps links to the article-response threads on ILX (when/if they are created) should be added to the FT front page?

Alan (Alan), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Alan good idea.

PF the 'talk about this article' going missing thing was to do with the new templates. Alan's solution is a neat one I think.

I agree with you about the piece by me - it isn't anything special, it does what it's meant to do i.e. explain the background to the new-look site.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

PF, I was hoping you would take up the invitation to join the blogs, which would have given you somewhere to write about the pieces on the site as you saw fit.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I think only these response threads were started this month...
Article Response: Terminator 3
Article Response: Tomb Raider
Article Response: A Users Guide To The Culture Industry

Alan (Alan), Monday, 18 August 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes - I forgot to do the music ones. My piece didn't really need a thread, but Ned's and the Glasto one should have had one - apologies to Ned et al.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 18 August 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you get my email Tom? No urgent need to respond, just want to make sure it got through...

Archel (Archel), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes I/we did - I was leaving it to Tim to respond since he's the editor of the Wedge, don't know if he's seen it though. If not - OI TIM! There's an email from Archel in the FT mailbox that requires your attention!

Tom (Groke), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Err won't be able to see it until tonight but I'll respond then. Sorry Archel!

Tom I feel a bit ooky abt looking in the FT hotmail account because you're giving it out to people as yr personal account too. So I don't look at it as often as I should.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim I'm not - I told my Dad to use my work one but he won't for some reason, he probably thinks it'll get me the sack :(

Tom (Groke), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh OK.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Hooray, my first post is up!

Disclaimer: I am boy raised by wolves. I can't write to save my life. And I have a comma addiction.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 18 August 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

My piece didn't really need a thread, but Ned's and the Glasto one should have had one - apologies to Ned et al.

No worries! I figured things were busy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 August 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

What exactly is the distinction between Do You See and Brown Wedge? Is it just that the latter is for things you read?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 22 August 2003 06:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Brown Wedge is the hoity toity "arts" one, Do You See? is tv + movies (not sure where Matthew Barney fits in)

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 22 August 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

DYS = it moves, BW = you do (if you want)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 22 August 2003 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing we're not sure about is theatre.

There are strict guidelines for when something should go in what blog but only I know them.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd assumed that Do You See? was everything in which there is a screen involved. Therefore theatre = Brown Wedge, surely?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

but they move matt

mark s (mark s), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

also is theatre to be encouraged at all? i say no

mark s (mark s), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

*scratches head*
Though I think I may only have two ideas per year anyway so that's me done...

Archel (Archel), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely Tim H's burgeoning 'views from urinals' series should be in Do You See instead of the Publog. It certainly has crossover appeal.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 22 August 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

What about pop-up books ?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 22 August 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

What was the point of that Lewis Carrol prog that was on last night? I only caught the end of it.

Alan (Alan), Friday, 22 August 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

however it is U&K that BW doesn't become a repository for all the poncey stuff...

theatre (if you must) = DYS
experimental poncey art performance = BW

oh dear, i'm defeating my own argument here aren't i....

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 22 August 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Opera = NYLPM.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 22 August 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh while we've revived this - the next big update of FT is on the 1st of September so write to me now if you fancy writing an article for us! Thanks! (and I will get back to the people who have written, too).

Tom (Groke), Friday, 22 August 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

ha. there is little danger of BW becoming all poncey high art stuff. I've just written a little item about stupid old superhero comics that I'll put up soon.

The most awkward demarcation problem is the films that, as Tim H has been known to say, are so bad that they can only get shown in art galleries, i.e. video art.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 23 August 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I like video art :(

David. (Cozen), Saturday, 23 August 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

So do I, at times, but lots of it is dreary rubbish. But it's on a screen and it moves, so does where it is shown make all the difference as to which blog it goes on? If you see a Cremaster in a cinema, does it go on Do You See? but if it's in a gallery it goes on the Brown Wedge?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 23 August 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

VIDEO ART:
if it moves DO YOU SEE
if you move BROWN WEDGE
if you eat PUMPKIN PUBLOG
if you whistle or hum NYPLM

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 24 August 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
the comments link from TOO MACHO TO DISCUS seems to link you to a deleted thread :(

i wanted to suggest that the phones straight to the horse's ear wd be used by WHISPERERS not SHOUTERS

mark s (mark s), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Fixed.

You can do this great joke again if you want.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

if it moves DO YOU SEE
if it moves you BROWN WEDGE
if you move TMFD
if you eat PUMPKIN PUBLOG
if you whistle or hum NYPLM

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

ten months pass...
Due to faulty hardware FT is temporarily down. When it comes back (soon), all content post 3am will be gone. Apologies to readers and contributors as I am informed this will unfortunately mean you will have to re-do any posts and comments made today.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

:(

Will the She's All That discussion be lost?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

looks likely

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I hopefully will only have lost a post or two -- we'll see!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

it'll be fine, all the blog posts are on blogger, and all the comments are on Haloscan.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry for scare-mongering then like...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 9 August 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU AWFUL MAN

I was about to get in a Blog 7 post but I guess FT had just gone down, I fear that one may well be lost.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Is FT still publishing articles?

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I asked Tom about this and the answer is no, not at this point -- it's still archiving the old articles but essentially it functions more as a gateway for the seven blogs, and participants are encouraged to put essay length stuff if they like (thus my Pet Shop Boys DVD review).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I was thinking of doing a photographic journey around West Ealing for Blog 7, as there isn't really much to say about the place.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what I thought.

From a reader's perspective it is a shame -- the blog format makes the longer essay length stuff a lot more difficult to read and get through.

x-post

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the blog format makes the longer essay length stuff a lot more difficult to read and get through

It's a touch hard on the eyes with that font, I've noticed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Nicole we're looking at ways to address that, I agree that some blog posts have been on the long side recently. What I've been doing is trying to split posts into a series where possible. We're also after an easy way for contributors to get photos up on the site.

Everything is now back to normal I think BTW.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

will yall plz get yer shit together k thx bye

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The idea of putting the first paragraph or so of an article in a blog with a link to the rest seems a good idea, if that can be sorted - it's therefore brought to the casual readers attention, gives the writer a chance to grab their interest, but offers a better format without messing up the flow of the blog.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

do it with short entries too, so that you have to click to read like one more sentence. works for allmusic!

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah SFJ can do it coz he's on typepad, Blogger doesn't have that functionality unless someone out there has got some bit of ware that imitates it (and pls let me know if so). For 500 word+ posts thats the ideal solution but at the moment we can't do it w/o leaving Blogger. (Which maybe we should do but moving seven team blogs at once would be a bit of a chore).

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

duh, just post the first sentence of somesuchshit and make the last word a link to an article posted wherever the fucks you've posted articles.

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

It turns out you CAN do it in Blogger. I'll get Alan to investigate it.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 9 August 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously though pick ten or so ilxors at random to write something and give them the idea too and also don't actually pick at random pick specific people you think will be good only say you picked at random so people's feelings aren't hurt and then odds are at least one or two will follow thru most likely one of them will be dum enough to fall for it! voila - more reading for the readers!

I'm a sucker fr the faux-formalism and sense of occassion of the 'little girl sat at desk scribbling' pic and accessing the writing through the front end.

cºzen (Cozen), Monday, 9 August 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)
