September 6th, 7pm-late (for which read 1am!) its my 30th Birthday gosh darned it and I want to see lots of people come and drink near me. The place SOAS Bar (the bar I run so cheap prices), Russell Square. Music from all the usual suspects. Probably crisp tastings.

Come one come all (let me know before hand so I can put you on the list though, private party style).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Wish I could come, Pete. That's my birthday too! But I'll be a wee 26 years.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yay. cheap soas booze. and pete.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah! Will there be a pub quiz we can't win?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, hadn't considered that. Maybe a simple runaround quiz like last year.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like to come, and may bring ILX LURKER GIRLFRIEND if she's up for it after her trip over. I'll get back to you, but I'd like to be pencilled (+1), please.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe a simple runaround quiz like last year.

how's your Mike Reid impersonation Pete?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

G-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-gooooooo!

Runaround......NOW!

Fair to middling (in print).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Wish I could make it, but I'm going to be running 13 and a bit miles round Glasgow at 10am the next day -- don't think I can do both, I'm afraid.

alext (alext), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That's my birthday as well! How odd. (Will not say how old I will be as am scared of Ned calling me a... foetus, or something.)

cis (cis), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you mean to say that the 6th September is when you will actually be born Cis!!!

The missus-to-be and I will be there obviously.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It's when I'll be found under a cabbage patch by a hoopoe.

cis (cis), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm sure I'll be there.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Whizzing back up to the top...

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

It's my birthday is sept 6 as well... have a pint for me.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

just one? :(

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

crap, i am uptown so much at the moment i really should live there

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming to this one.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Sir Pete! Happy (early) Birthday! Wishing you all the lager and fair women you desire;>

(Have one for me, as I can't be there. Pencil me in for next year, though....)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Think I'll be along for this one.

Might I suggest that we go to the Notting Hill Arts Centre first, though, for their RoTa thing, cos Misty's Big Adventure are playing and though they might not be the best thing ever they're very, very close. Also they are from Birmingham.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

OH MY GOD HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE UK ME.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, is it okay to ask you to put me and Sarah's names down even if we can't guarantee we'll be able to come?

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, that has been done Mark. The main SOAS door will be shut so just ring the handy little bell and ask the man inside. He should have list with everyones name on, but basically if you say my name, you'll get in. Private party Wooo!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Wishing you all the lager and fair women you desire;>

Sheesh. I read that as 'all the large and fair women you desire,' which puts a slightly different spin on things.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay, I can come to this... *punches air to We Want Fun*

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 September 2003 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh, has anyone mentioned the watching of the football yet? is it on another thread?

aaaaaaaaanyway, a few of us (tim, chris, martin, not chris martin though, some others) are going to watch the FYR Macedonia v England match beforehand, and for some ungodly reason we have decided upon THE WINDMILL which is a pub with lots of tellies in, just opposite the rising sun off tottenham court road (sorry it's not on fancyapint, so no linkage). we will be there from 4ish, just to ensure that there is full-on ruination later...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 September 2003 08:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The next ILX CD must feature the London Bootleg Orchestra's rendition of We Want Ruin. In other news, have fun tomorrow (and today!).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 5 September 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Goodness me but the Windmill is a nasty hole of a place.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 September 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, can you put Jonnie down just in case I talk him out of going to Dorset this weekend?

chris (chris), Friday, 5 September 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, okay, everyone on the list has a plus one anyway so they can bring girlyfriends and stuff..

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:11 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-b-but Steve you PROMISED! :(

Chris Martin (Groke), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

(it's all pete's fault, he suggested it, even though he won't be there)

and less of that whining clodplay boy, or i'll give you a SLAP.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll see you at the Windmill...I wouldn't mind watching the Wales match either tho!

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

carsmile i *do* have the 1987 collection of "foul"!!

(also a 1981 shoot! annual) (why? bcz i am a magpie)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark I thought "Foul!" was long gone by 1987 (it was all When Saturday Comes and Off the Ball and Hit The Bar by then wasn't it?). I'd love to see some of those old "Foul"s one day.

Carsmile will hate you now you've admitted to being a dorty hackin magpie.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

arf arf. foul is from 72-76, but the collection was published in 87 as marks says. meg found a copy of it in her mum's attic. i may bring it out tomorrow, but i don't really want it getting covered in beer etc...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Another time is probably a better idea, CSS.

I'm sore with Foul! for taking the name which I wanted to use for our Soorts Blog (I'm also sore with those nice Hit The Bar chaps for the same reason).

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

carsmile so is the thing i found the same edition as the one meg found then? ie a retrospective collection (under the aegis of WSC presumably - the intro is by mike ticher...)

sure the soorts blog = 'IT IS NOW!!"

mark s (mark s), Friday, 5 September 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Ew, horrid associations with nasty unfunny deeply homophobic Rory fucking McGrath starring tv quiz shows ahoy.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"When Wednesday Afternoon Comes"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

"Picked Last"

Tom (Groke), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"this boy is xcuzed all games frever signed mark s mum s"

mark s (mark s), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom that's genius.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, sounds like the same thing mark.

the sports blog has a very good name now, i like it.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 September 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

"A.N.Other."

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 5 September 2003 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Chickenbears For Goalposts?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 September 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

This might feel daft...

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 September 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Have a fooking great night Ptee and everyone.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 5 September 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Last bump and all that, need to right out their last request.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 September 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

pete i emailed you

mark s (mark s), Friday, 5 September 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll try. Finally, a bar I've been to (my cousin does law at SOAS).

Barima (Barima), Friday, 5 September 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Mark, thanks for the e-mail, look forward to seeing you. And you and you and....

Off not to get drunk tonight.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 September 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I have just been down the MVE bargain basement. PH34R THE DJING!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 5 September 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i was so going to have a night off to (finally) recover from wednesday. unfortnately i didn't. anyone who sees me being quiet and drunk should slap me and tell me to get with it...

toby (tsg20), Friday, 5 September 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Just in case anyone needs somewhere good to go to afterwards:

*PLUG* Blue Million Miles in London 6th Sep 2003

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Saturday, 6 September 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, hoping you kept the celebration down to a low roar (or at least, had no need to sample "Her Majesty's" hospitality).

Share any of the good stories....including any of the dangerous ones.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 6 September 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, yes, I should get off Cat's couch and off the internet and head back West to go to this since it's like... literally 50 yards from my door! Sheesh. Yeah. We'll be there. (If it's alright that I bring HSA, who is upset and hurt that no one has posted to his thread on ILM.)

kate (kate), Saturday, 6 September 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Hola, Ms. Kate! Missed ya!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, Nicole! Sorry I've been so quiet, I got sacked so I've got no internet access. Grrrrr. How ya doing?

kate (kate), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, that sucks but I feel your lack of Net access (none at home, must make LONG trek). Am looking at Masters programs to return UK side, too damn soggy in FL just now. (Found a few possiblities)

Off to Pete's bash?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, if I can get off Cat's house and stop watching Buffy... :-)

Must... get off.... couch...

kate (kate), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

*sound of being lifted off couch, and beginning forward steps*

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Right. Buffy is over. Glory just found out about Dawn. I have to go to Pete's party now. Honest.

kate (kate), Saturday, 6 September 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

...Or not. I've been on flipping painkillers all day because my teeth will not stop hurting and I think the right side of my face is gonna go into paralysis soon and I can't think straight or do anything within a reasonable timeframe or state of coherency and I may as hell well be on a thousand downers and I'm drowsy...

Uh, sorry anyway. Happy birthday!

Barima (Barima), Saturday, 6 September 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

this was even more fun cz — even though we were obviously meant to be there — somehow it felt as if we had sneaked in and were having a party in the bar that the owners didn't know about!!

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 7 September 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

that was fantastic! those of you who didn't come on to the other spanish bar missed a classic - prince's "kiss" with a guy playing harmonica and the dj mc-ing "fix up look sharp" over the top. amazing.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 7 September 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

dam right! and pete's party was pretty fabulous as well, finally some people i can beat on the pool table...

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

couldn't come as I was tired and couldn't be arsed to travel to london but I'm sure you all made sure pete got drunk and did foolish things.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 7 September 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Superfanbloodysmashingbrillzyskillzynessnessness. With a cherry on top. That 'other' Spanish bar was either the greatest or most terrifying place I've ever been, particularly the people dancing with their reflections, the general bewankedness of the DJ in the floral shirt, the repeated threats of "I'll sort you out in the toilet" that came over the PA from the other DJ to no-one in particular, the playing of Faith, then the rewinding of Faith, then the playing of Faith again... oh, and the toilet. I liked the fact it had a nice new Carex dispenser and very, very little else.

The party itself was also great. Pool, A-Ha, quiche, Wombles references. What Is Not To Love???

Best bit of all was the journey home after. Walking all the way up and down Oxford Street looking for a taxi, decide to get a night bus to Holborn (for the N68), leap on the N25. I miss Holborn, and realise as much when I go past City Thameslink. Rather panicked, I try and remember where this bus terminates.

It's Ilford. I wish to go to Croydon.

Oh shit.

I leap off somewhere past Bank and wander round with fingers crossed looking for something that might get me somewhere, and I spot an N35 at the lights. I tear off down the street for the request stop, arm waving like the Royal Family with St Vitus' Dance, then I leap on it.
This takes me back to Tottenham Court Road via some drunk people getting all Singing In The Rain on the staircase. I get off, and what's right behind it?

The N68.

So I cross the road, five minutes later the N68 rolls up. I hop on, sit down, and put Misty's Big Adventure on, and we go all the way back home to Croydon feeling rather lovely after all that (plus brief sprint down the road home in case there's any insomniac muggers who happen to have been waiting for me all evening). Got home at... twenty to five. Just in time for Norm. Skillz.

Julio - Three words. Carter. USM. Karaoke.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

BEST FAP EVER!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

marvellous. i had a lovely time, well done everyone :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a great time too - thanks, Pete!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

But bloody hell... argh! RUIN!

The party itself was magnificent - as I said to Mark C it was like some parallel universe where everyone on ILX went to university together... pool, pub quizzes, We Want Fun - RAH! Even if I did use the most ridiculous sentance I have ever uttered ("I know this is true, because Pete told me"). In retrospect, I felt mildly silly.

Then myself, Anna, Toby, Stevem, Lixi and WBS trekked over to the ALL NEW Spanish bar, which fully kicks the original's arse - Italians dancing in front of mirrors, comedy wigga MCing ("fix up look sharrrrrrp!"), no Hairy Man, and a strange bloke who kept trying to give me a lovebite. My memory is *very* hazy on the other details, mind. I was given a red rose by a random German woman at the bus stop (I think she was in the middle of a row with her boyfriend), then I in turn gave it to the nice girl I met on the bus, after we had spent 20 minutes pretending to be French in order to avoid talking to a mentalist. It was a weird night.

What was the song Pete sang at the end of the night? I think my mind has blocked the whole event out.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, I can never set foot in the old Spanish Bar again, not just because of the splendiferousness of the new one, but also because I now know that it is THE SPANISH BAR OF FIREY DEATH.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

It was The Impossible Dream. Though there was another he didn't know the words to.

And I've just remembered. Tonight. I Celebrate My Love. For You.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it was embarassing just how much older the SOAS bar is than the one at Brum and yet simultaneously how much nicer it is too.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

and a strange bloke who kept trying to give me a lovebite

Who? What? When? Have I blocked this from my memory?

I am queen of random Spanish bars. I am also very hungover.

Pete was singing Send In The Clowns. I have been singing it all morning in a Nico voice. 'Zend in der clons ...' (sweeps off)

Anna at toby's (tsg20), Sunday, 7 September 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i do recall Matt DC being hit on by some chap, but what were Chris, Vicky, Tim and other people singing in conjunction with 'Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You' again?

slightly off-topic can someone confirm that Georgi Hristov (the former Barnsley player who scored for Macedonia against England yesterday) originally played for Bulgaria? this is probably not true, i don't know why i think it is - as i proved in Pete's quiz i am a true fountain of bogus knowledge, falsehoods and untruths

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought that too, but I think you may be confusing him with Hristo Stoichkov (I was). Apologies if you aren't.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ticket to ride!!! steve you were going to do a ticket to ride vs smell's like teen spirit bootleg.

actually you told anna in the spanish bar about some other bootleg you were going to do, but i can't remember for the life of me what it was - i'll ask her in a minute...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That Georgi Markov feller that got stabbed with a poison-tipped umbrella and died - he was Bulgarian, wasn't he?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i told Anna i was going to do a bootleg of the Beach Boys' 'Sloop John B' but a few probably already exist and there's a particularly excellent unofficial electro remix of it by Si Begg of all people (at least i think he made it)

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

and i wasn't confusing Hristov with Stoichkov, i'm just sure i know that name from somewhere else other than Macedonia's first XI

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a Hristov plays for Bulgaria, but not Georgi. I was thinking of Stoichkov yesterday afternoon when v. pissed, so as said above, apologies for tarring you with the brush of my own stupidity :)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

don't worry i'm already stupid enough

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 7 September 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I would just like to thank everyone who came on Saturday. Not just for their kind cards and presents but also for their attendance and general bonhomie. I had a fantastic time and just as well i didn't know about the other Spanish bar, ruin would have been far too dangerous.

I apologise whole heartedly for the singing by the way. Cabaret circuit here I come...

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 September 2003 07:13 (twenty-two years ago)

it really was a *fantastic* evening - second best fap ever in my book.

i am now downloading loads of carter usm, although i don't think it will be able to compete with pete's rendition of "only living boy...".

the spanish bar was a bit of an accident, we were heading for the bus when anna decided that it was a must.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Anybody else notice that G. Hristov = Gareth? (skopje - should i go there?)

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

This morning I put my jacket on as I was leaving and realise I'd forgotten all about that ad I nicked from the bar.

"REM tribute band - singer, guitarist and bass player wanted". Marvellous. I'm going to apply.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, it was a winner!

We will definitely be repeating the one-song-per-DJ soundclash trick at the October wedding FAP.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd forgotten that too! christ, i forgot a lot of things on saturday night, there were probably 100 other hilarious things that happened that have slipped my mind...

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

(x-post)

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hold up, what do you mean, SECOND best FAP ever...?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It was missing a certain something (IE me).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

pete, the best FAP ever is the next one. never stop dreaming ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

best fap ever: Mary & Felicity In London FAP: 18th January

it's a close thing though. you should be thirty more often.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The problem with that FAP wa show full the Spanish bar got. I prefered Steve's answer.

But I'm glad you all had a good time.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a thread about a Mary in London FAP as yet?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(That January FAP was indeed awesome, though). Two best FAPs ever.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Tuesday night was mooted, as was the grafton arms, grafton st just behind warren st tube, but they haven't actually done anything about sorting it.

Ed (dali), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard Chris playing Bangalter/Falcon, therefore despite not being there, best FAP ever.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Here it is.

Mary FAP! Here it is! Oh yes.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And now I can function properly again:

Brilliant, brilliant FAP on Saturday. Cheap booze, wonderful dancing and everybody from the University of ILx together (it really did feel like that, odd...).

Anna (Anna), Monday, 8 September 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

My housewarming went well. Which is a good thing, or else I would be kicking myself for missing this.

Also happy 30th to Pete.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

So can I run the SU in the University of ILx - I've proved my mettle.

I have also decided to play music under all of my pub quizes in future.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

(I actually had a small 'moment' when dancing to 'We Want Fun' and Toby took the piss out of me because I was being drunk and over emotional on the night bus.)

Anna (Anna), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you have sleepless nights thinking about the magick 30 (pronounced ala redman)? I don't, I am too old to have sleepless nights. haha

nathalie soon to be dirty as well (nathalie), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

No.

30 is just a space invade on its side.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I am SO GLAD that "We Want Fun" has become the London ILX anthem!

That's when they're most dangerous Pete.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I can only accept "We Want Fun" as the LILX anthem if it is compulsory to shout "We Hate Fun" along with it.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

We Want Ruin!

On reflection, Carter was karaoked => I am gutted.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(at the time from across the room i assumed/believed that everyone was shouting 'WE R GAY!!" with such blissful fervour)

(nor will anything convince me otherwise)

The True Or False Quiz in full (okay, with one question altered due to potentially sensitive nature of its contents):

1: Pete Baran shares his birthday with both Tim Henman and Greg Rudseski - whilst being rubbish at tennis.

2: The human optic nerve does not grow and therefore at the age of three has at least five centimetres of “slack”.

3: The average height of an Ewok in The Return Of The Jedi was three foot eight, a good three inches taller than Pete Baran at age nine.

4: Pete Baran was once arrested for drug dealing in Bedford.

5: In his Oxford interview Pete Baran argued that there was nothing morally wrong with incest and said the phrase “Deep down every man wants to fuck his mum”.

6: The sewage in the Deptford area of London has on average 13% content of blood in it, a full 8% greater than the national average of 5%.

7: Clare Short once stole a taxi off of Pete Baran.

8: The posh family of Dido is directly related to the Albanian Royal Family, and now after the end of comunism her elder brother has been asked to be reinstated the throne.

9: Baran, a Polish name, means ram in Polish and the family is named this due to being directly related to the Polish Royal Families servants.

10: Pete Baran was once thrown out of the Library at S OAS for being drunk.

Favourite Matt DC quote during this quiz:

"Oh this one's true, Pete told me."

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

SPECIAL BONUS ROUND - of what question did Matt DC say "I know this is true cos Pete told me"?

(heh xpost)

Tom (Groke), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

8. King Rollo!

i was convinced #4 was true because i did recall Pete's anecdote about being mistaken for a dealer

and i was singing 'I Hate Fun' along to AWK

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 September 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The problem with that FAP wa show full the Spanish bar got.

I ended up squeezed in a corner between Mary and Felicity. Not exactly a vision of hell...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 8 September 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

The real problem with that FAP was me trying to look cool and suave and blowing it by falling head-first into the luggage holding compartment on the night bus. Ack... never again.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

you have at least 3 wrong, i think. but you've probably done better than we did.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, four wrong.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a funny feeling that the Ewok one is essentially correct, but the dimensions quoted in the question are slightly wrong.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

see now, that's what i thought and why we (me, meg, tom and alix) only got 9 rather than the full 10 ;)

oh, that bottle of cava's still in the fridge btw.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)
