OCD

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of your carpet is brushed the wrong way.

Where do you keep all your CDs and pubic hairs?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Louche, and loving it

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

You don't have guitar cases?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Too sterile. Do you really do any living there?

Girolamo Savonarola, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Guitars look better out of the cases!

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I also just moved in so, no, not much living going on yet.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

that coffee table needs a darker finish, definite wood tone no-no!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

totally j/k, looks pleasant and tidy, must be the wicker accents.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

why is there a lamp illuminating the tv set?

Kingfish Beefstick (Kingfish), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Smells like urine.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it but I think yr furniture should be darker, otherwise it is tres nice, where do you live? Can I come live with you? Oh.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Lamp behind TV = no reflection on the screen, boyee!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Does the fireplace work?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

It does but I don't think the insurance covers it yet. Or something.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

How many beds / baths?

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it have a nice view?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Two bedrooms/one bath.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

It looks out onto a pleasant enough street. My cat likes watching the squirrels.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I would move the standing lamp to the corner on the left.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You should have included the cat in the living room pic for a better judgement (ha ha, from me anyway). :-)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Turn off that t.v.

Do you really need two acoustic guitars?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

No, they need 5, so they can replicate Tesla's Five Man Acoustical Jam.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course may does - for jam sessions.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

one is nylon and the other steel string

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Correct.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.worksongs.com/house/bathroom.jpg

The bathroom sucks, but for the purposes of showcasing my cat..

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

KITTY!

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

That reminds me. I have to get him a litter box.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

You don't have a litter box!

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, she needs to the two acoustic guitars so she can slam them together, Garth Brooks-stylee at the end of her show.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

did you train your cat to use the loo?

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It looks like the kitty already used the bathroom on your rug! ha ha

Cute cat though. What's her name?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

the cat is Garth Brooks?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I realized it looked like a cat turd after I posted the pic. I can assure you though that it's only my fecal matter that you see.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Cat's name is Archer.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah M, why must you constantly assume that every cat is a she?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

She probably thinks I'm a chick too.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

what city is this, if you don't mind?

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It could be anywhere though, really.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that Bobby Goldsboro playing on the tv?

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

No, but that's a Glen Campbell LP on the turntable.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Cute kitty, but is there a reason the bathroom looks so generic?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Tico should revive Am I Cool or Not, this thread has made me nostalgic! Or maybe it could use pictures of people's homes and/or apartments instead.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, like where's the rifle cabinet and the revolving shower door?

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't got around to fixing the bathroom up yet. Honest.

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

It could be anywhere though, really.

Yeah, I was just looking to not follow the thread's advice and judge you based on things not involving your living room.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

what are you reading in the bathroom? It looks like the Bobby Goldsboro bio.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

How in the hell is that a generic bathroom? It's got marbley green wallpaper, nice looking tile, proper wood cabinets and a really cute cat. When I think "generic bathroom" I think the ones that are in every single apartment I've ever been in practically with, you know, white walls and white tiles and no kitties. The real problem isn't genericness, it is that the floor tiles and the wallpaper don't go with one another. You should get black and white tiles, that'd be much nicer.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, I really like the way your email address changes with each post to reflect the general sentiment of the post.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The people calling it too sterile are living in the shabby-chic past. Unkempt living irritates me. So what I'm a yuppie cunt. Anyway, may, I like it, it's really clean and cozy. If I were you, though, I'd try to unify the electronics into a center console, making room for some more seating. Then that space below the framed print/photo could be used for a little photo strip. Maybe some dark denim drapes too (I have them and they look great in any light condition). Also, all requests for darker furniture seconded, though you should keep it solid; no wishy-washy tuscan crap.

Dancing Queen, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Well Andrew I don't want to confuse anyone with my emotions, you know? I'm like a tumultuous storm of conflicting passions and it might freak people out if I wasn't helpful.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i like how the cat matches the bthrm rug

kephm, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Cute kitty, and I dig the living room, too. Can I come over and hang out?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

So wait.. put the stereo console in front of the window? That wouldn't work. Or would it? Hm..

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

What's that white thing in the kitchen?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

it is a washing machine

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

That's amazing, you are dead fancy.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do you have a washing machine in your kitchen?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

in order to wash my clothes

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

In the kitchen?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not uncommon.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Where else is he going to put it, Aja?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I love to judge people based on their apartments and furniture, but I'll hold back. I will say you've got one major thing going for you: the fireplace. Everything else I'll pass on. If you can't afford to replace anything, then at least rearrange the furniture. If you can replace one item, it must be the lamp in the corner. Not only does that style of lamp look cheap, but it casts a very unnatractive light. Maybe put some nice, darker color throw pillows on the couch. Next item to go: the coffee table.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not uncommon.

Where is it common?

Where else is he going to put it, Aja?

In the basment?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

aja, in britiain most household appliances are clustered in the same arena. this tends to be the kitchen rather than the lounge or the bedrooms

x-post, most apartments do not have basements

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. The basement of AN APARTMENT. You're right, why didn't the rest of us think of that.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

If it's an apartment, isn't there one in the garage for everyone to use?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Charlton, it's so neat....and you a working lad. Do you get maid service?

(mucho x-post)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

no garage (sadly we had to share the washing machine between just the 4 of us, and the other people in the building had to make do with their own machines)
no maid

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i would never even consider having a cleaner or a maid, it goes against everything i believe in. i could never have someone clean up after me

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:12 (twenty-two years ago)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! apartments with garages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a feeling someone lives in suburbia

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

nice pad, G.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Suburban apartments don't have garages either from my experience! And certainly not garages filled with laundromats!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe if you lived in a basement in someone's house?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I live in a suburban apartment and it does not have a garage, let alone with a laundromat!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe aja lives in a particularly salubrious neighborhood, or possibly a neighborhood where people cluster in garages checking the torque on their cars while washing their hello kitty bedsheets, or maybe one where people are rather unwordly

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja hasn't been here long enough to learn that the major difference between the US and UK is that we Brits tend to have washing machines in our kitchens, and the communal apartment block machine is pretty much non-existent. I have one too. I kind of wish I could take photos of my nice big new flat and post them, but what with no camera, digital or otherwise, and nowhere to host pics, that isn't likely.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I live in San Francisco. Even When I lived in an apartment in Oakland we had a garage with a tiny laundromat. The laundromat is usually near the entrance to the loby.

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen washers/driers in garages very often, and in fact have lived in homes with them in the garage. This isn't true for apartment buildings, though. I don't think I've ever seen a washer in the kitchen, but it doesn't seem outlandish or anything.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do you have an oakland in your san francisco?

this is very unusual, we dont have an Oakland here in London. in fact, i have been in many places across the world, and i never saw an oakland there either

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No. I used to live in Oakland. Oakland is a different city.

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i think we have learnt something today. together, we can only get stronger

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

How'd we learn that?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

osmosis

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja hasn't been here long enough to learn that the major difference between the US and UK is that we Brits tend to have washing machines in our kitchens

Apparently I haven't been here long enough to know that is a known quantity and I've been here for far too long now!!! I am amazed by your "UK" and am very jealous.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

They don't wash the soap off their dishes, remember.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes we do! Well, I do. Actually, I had a dishwasher in my previous home, but here I'll have to go back to the primitive manual washing method! The horrors I put up with!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

http://pod-135.dolphin-server.co.uk/~gareth/ilx/thepub/finchleylivingroom2.jpg

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Hands, dish soap and a sponge? Poor Skidders!

(xpost)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Very neat, and a glass of White, to boot!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

You sleep in a bed? Why? Don't you have a hyperbaric chamber?

Yourope (Mert), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

In Japan they have the washing machine in or near the kitchen also. But there is no dryer! There is a contraption that you hang all your clothes on then hang outside the window.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a wine glass of milk on an ironing board?

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, in Australia many flats have the washing machine in the bathroom. Unless youre in a house, then you have a proper laundry room of course.

Its as common as shit here. "Washing machine facils" means there's taps to hook the machine to, in the bathroom. Ususally there's a little alcove the machine'll fit into. I have to drain mine into the shower cos there's no specific pipe.

I thought the laundry-in-basement thing was a TV show invention, doesnt anyone but us have acutal laundry rooms? Like, next to the kitchen say, or just outside the back door?

I dont know anyone with a basement, either.

I'm kinda weetahdded, so don't mind my infantile never been to New Yawk kiddy phantasies on this here board. How many rooms did you have in that apt, btw? And what was the average monthly due, covering rent, other expenses and the like?

Charltonlido - that looks like my street - was that on Highbury Hill? I moved there this past summer.

It looks like May is doing her part to keep the Ikea empire alive and well... (it's not a criticism - I have Ikea stuff too).

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate to say it Momus, but I kinda like the way the apartment was before. Sure, a typical looking place for the professional image-whore, idea-pimp marketing set, but I guess I like seeing a lot of that nice wood floor.

Odd seeing you on TV last week during some gross program about tapeworms, btw.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Momus, props for shrinking your living room by about three quarters :)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I could tell by the pic that Archer is female. I am magic like that.

Momus, is that a bubble tent in your living room?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't care how middle class this makes me, but the lack of curtains in the "boho" pad would really bother me.

Spontaneous Existence Failure (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the windows in your new place, charltonlido.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I LOVE IT, ALEX!

Yeah, so did I. Too bad we moved, eh?

MOVING HOUSE: How Can I Feel Better about it?

Small and cozy, but kinda tallish, the-way-I-would-expect a New York apt sorta to be like, w/Ramones postah and all? I'm kinda weetahdded, so don't mind my infantile never been to New Yawk kiddy phantasies on this here board.

It was a cozy 650 sq. ft. studio/loft. The Ramones poster is now in New London, Connecticut in my friend Rob's kitchen, as my wife was less than thrilled with it. Such comprimises one makes when one gets married.

How many rooms did you have in that apt, btw? And what was the average monthly due, covering rent, other expenses and the like?

Well, like I said, it was a studio, so it was essentially one big room (not counting the bathroom and the closet sized kitchen). It was a truly wonderful apartment, though, and I miss it terribly. I didn't rent it, though, I'd bought it with my entire savings,....then ended up selling it six years later for a little more than twice what I'd paid for it...but that's all relative, as the place we moved to (a small two-bedroom) ate up the difference...and then some.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

my living room is tiny and not worth photographing sadly.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, you couldn't judge me based on my living room, but you probably could judge HSA. I definitely judged HSA - and decided that I liked him due to all those oscillators and all the weird stuff... a friend of mine visited us a few months ago and was all "Argh! I could never live here! I'd get freaked out and think the masks and monsters and things would kill me!" Which reminds me, I said I'd email her about having a drink together...

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i judge HSA by his dancing

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

tho having said that Monday was not a good night to evaluate such things - especially if you saw me

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm... meaning what?

The person who introduced us judged him on his dancing - deciding that he had to be OK if he had the guts to dance like that in public! :-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've lived in an apartment with a washing machine in the kitchen. I've lived in apartments with laundramats in the building. I've lived in apartments with laundramats 3 blocks away.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I live in a loft style apartment with a washer and dryer built-in.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

not in the garage?

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

No. right in our unit. It's in what looks like a closet, right next to the upstairs bathroom.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Weirdo! Don't you know it belongs in the kitchen? ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, now that I think about it, there's a little washer/dryer closet off of guess-which-room in my house...the kitchen.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought the washing maching belonged in the oakland?

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It belongs next to the bathroom. It won't fit in the kitchen.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

My father-in-law is the only person I know in Britain that has a 'laundy room'. It's adjacent to the kitchen.

I wish we had a dryer in our flat. Instead I have a somewhat dangerous rack/space heater set up - nothing drys in the winter otherwise because of the 'moistness' of the building!

marianna, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

A washing machine should either be in the kitchen or a utility room, jeez!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Ignore my foot and discuss my living room.

This is Oakland:

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't see a washing machine.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I see you Aja, oh no my mistake, I don't!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't see any Oaks, either. What a sillily named place!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't live there anymore.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I am jealous of everyone who can post a picture. I can't. Will someone buy me a digital camera? Oh go on.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Otherwise it's a bucket load of film for the Polaroid and bribery to use a scanner...

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have a digital camera! But my scanner is not speaking to my computer so its curtains for that concept from now on.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I guess that's why I can't see you!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This is in Oakland.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to have a coffee table EXACTLY like that, Ally! Although I'm guessing the compartment in yours doesn't house contraband.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Not anymore, no. It houses fixins to make mix cds and random junk that I just threw in there.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, I stand corrected.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

They don't have many oak trees in Oakland.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Now let me welcome everybody to the wild, wild west
A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness
The track hits ya eardrum like a slug to ya chest
Pack a vest for your Jimmy in the city of sex
We in that sunshine state with a bomb ass hemp beat
the state where ya never find a dance floor empty
And pimps be on a mission for them greens
lean mean money-makin-machines servin fiends
I been in the game for ten years makin rap tunes
ever since honeys was wearin sassoon
Now it's '95 and they clock me and watch me
Diamonds shinin lookin like I robbed Liberace
It's all good, from Diego to tha Bay
Your city is tha bomb if your city makin pay
Throw up a finger if ya feel the same way
Dre puttin it down for
Californ-i-a

oaktown in da house, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

wow those oaklands are huge. i think i would quite like an oakland, no wonder you put your washing machine in the oakland, there is so much room, why, you might as well put your whole kitchen in the oakland!

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oakland is a city.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Our PE teacher is a big Radiers' fan.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Really? Did she call Jeff Hostetler "Senor Natty Man" all the time? Cos I know a Raiders fan who did! They were not from Oakland though so maybe it's different outside of the "Bay Area"?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Famous 19th-century philosopher-poet Josef Radiers?

NA (Nick A.), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

My PE teacher is a guy.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's a jog-through of my whole apartment, with the living room about ten megabytes in.

Momus (Momus), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh then I guess he's probably gay, Aja.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Why?

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes.

Wintermuté (Wintermute), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos I saw him making out with Jeff Hostetler, hello? Didn't you read my other post?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn Alex, you've moved out? I was just about to ask if you needed an au pair girl or anything for Baby In NYC. (It's a good idea, honest, because, um, well, if you and Mrs In NYC run into any mad competative parents you could swank about your 'British nanny'.)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you were going to be my assistant??

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry. Alex would clearly be mad to employ me as an au pair. Most children hate me.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

At this rate, I doubt we could afford you, Anna, but thanks for offerin'.

Ally, is it safe to have all that electronic equipment (tv, stereo, etc.) so close to your radiator?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to live in an Oakland. It was quite spacious. I had a washer dryer there.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the only place in my entire living room with a plug, Alex :(

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, your place looks nice. I like the window.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

just who is that on the TV that Ally is kicking out at in disgust?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It kind of looks like the guy in American Werewolf in London. Not the main guy but the friend who dies and then comes back as a skeleton in the movie theatre.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

not the latest edition of 'Nozin' Around' then

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

HEY KIDS!!!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what this program deals in -- SHOCK!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

its chief weapon is surprise...?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I was about to say, this is a dangerous road.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's because we're so stupid and dorky and lame.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Which is why we rule! If we do.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, we do. We rule being stupid and dorky and lame. Wanna quote some AbFab with me??!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you wearing an ankle bracelet in that picture, or....

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, Vic, Ally has a detachable foot. We don't like to mention it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I asked you all to ignore my foot.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, you know what they say about big feet...but detachable is bringing it to a whole 'nother level

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is giving me motivation to actually tidy our flat tomorrow!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Was that a "Young One" allusion up thread I spied?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, Vyvian, it was.

Rik, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you doing here? I was going to watch Postman Pat...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"PISS OFF, POSTIE!"

Vivian (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Doesn't anyone want to talk about my detachable foot? It's kind of heavy, wow.

Neilzay, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Heres my place taken some time ago before 3 sets of flatmates ruined the carpet:

http://www.memorygongs.com/loungeroom2.jpg

I'd also like to deny any claim to being a Live fan, that poster was my flatmates and besides, it was black and red so looked cool in the decor. The room looks similar now, only somehow shabbier after 3 years of my slobby occupancy. I do covet my Indonesian coffee table tho.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 12 December 2003 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

hat poster was my flatmates and besides, it was black and red so looked cool in the decor.

BUT IT SAYS 'LIVE' ON IT!!!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex is right!!

Aja (aja), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You could read it as 'live' as in 'do not die,' though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

LIVE

you don't have to die

Aja (aja), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, yes I needed reminding not to keel over and stop breathing every day and goshdarn it if the boys who sang so plaintively of copulating dolphins kept me right on going. Thank you, Live.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm using the washing machine next to the bathroom right now to do my laundry.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 14 December 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Being comfy is very important. Send more pillows.

Don't lie, that's a coffin.
