In Union station? I had somehow not noticed it before, that's strange. Anyway I don't work there YET, they have to finish staring at my paperwork and slowly walking hard copies back and forth across the hall or whatever they do that takes so damn long to figure out that I am cleared to know BIG FANCY SECRETS.

The Krispy Kreme website acknowledged no such franchise in the train station though, that's odd and disappointing. However the result is that I have given the word "COCKFIRE" to this world and that is kind of awesome.

It's just a regional thing. When my Chicago relatives say "pop," it always takes me a second or so to member that they mean soda. I suppose that's a positive thing, that in spite of Clear Channel and McDonalds and other national homogenizing forces, there are still some regional cultures out there.

The only things I like from the grocery store selections are the crullers really. I need the real thing, hot light, fresh original glazed, a cup of coffee and a fork and a couple napkins, OMG.

I'm actually a little worried that it's been so long and I've kind of lost a lot of my sweet tooth - what if I do this and it's not as enjoyable as a I remember? I suppose nothing lasts forever.

The process of cooking used to make doughnuts does not compute with my body and never has. "Featherly light" is not the phrase I would use to describe the way doughnuts treat me. It's not even a calorie thing at all because you give me a pint of ice cream and I will give you back an empty carton in about 5 minutes flat.

We even tried to make our own doughnuts when I was younger, my parents were like "I'm sure it's some chemical they use for cooking" (!!! fucking hippies) and nope, puke-o-rama.

The moral of this story is that my body hates me, particularly since the ice cream thing isn't entirely true because I'm starting to notice an increased tendency towards lactose intolerance. Someday soon, all I will be able to consume is hot sauce.

I ate 7 KKs once in like, 10 minutes. I really didn't want anymore after that. They do have a very cotton candy like texture that makes them easily consumed in vast quantities though.

Ed your huge box of Krispy Kremes made my night yesterday. But they are neither crispy nor creamy, and their very name alone made me want to hate them and launch off into a huge 'Americans are stupid and tasteless rant' but of course they are SO NICE, far more so than I expected.
