Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, there's an IM thing here for requests but I have no idea what the name is. WBAR request? I'm going to play some Momus for you fuckers.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

"Reeling in the years!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

haha the only time I've ever heard Momus is by listening to ilxors' radio shows.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Good luck Ally!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Momus vs "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity" (off KB soundtrack) = end-of-world mashup!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

cheer up, ally!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

YEAH I fucked up the CD1!!!! I'm fixing it though.

I'm so tired, I haven't slept in about a week.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

you sound very nice ally.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

haha now everyone's listening to CD2 going "is it suppose to sound like that?"

You'll be fine.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I honestly have no idea what CD2 was playing

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

is this Alizee?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

No this one is actually the Cooler Kids song that I fucked up and didn't play earlier.

I forgot to bring Alizee :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

DO YOU WANT TO TOUCH MY HAIR?

marvellous

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I need suggestions for how to do talking bits cos I'm exhausted and have nthing to say.

xpost this song is for GARETH.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Goddamn I can't get it to work :(

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

reel off some interesting facts about John B

1) he studied English at Durham University

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

2) he may or may not like tuna fish

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

waaah, cant get it to work either

Michael B, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry :(

I'm gonna read a PSA next!!! Their definition of "PSA" is very, uh, interesting.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Shout out to the ILX posse!

Sam (chirombo), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

"Kaw Liga" is from the Residents' Stars And Hank Forever, btw...
Mmm, not yet heard the lovely DJ's voice so far. :(

OOOH! Here she comes!
(Tends to speak slightly past the mic sometimes, tho (Not like I don't do that m'self, after all these years, ha))

Fine show! :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

"Do you wanna party?"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Or else do what you are doing at the moment and just carry on playing utterly fuxoring grebt records. Pulp! Yay!!

(xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Slightly past the mic", what does it mean?? I wanna be awesome not suck!!!

Haha I'm glad you all like my taste in music.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Are you down for my shit?! Where the bitches at!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not allowed to say "shit" :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the mic seems to be a little overdriven; keep an eye on your levels and maintain a consistent distance from it.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

boo!
x-post

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I think t''t means the bit where your voice fades out, when you're not facing directly into it. It did that when you were talking about the name of one of the tracks, maybe you'd turned your head to look at the CD?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

bah. workserver blocks the stream.

also, why is there a 1.5Mb graphic on the WBAR frontpage?

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yo speak up mumbly - you should talk like you post ;)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

my god, goodbye horses....

"put the fuckin lotion in the basket!"

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this proper right-this-minute live? If so, I'm amazed at Ally's ability to run a radio show AND post to ILX at the same time.

I can't hear anything at work :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a sore throat :(

Honestly--I moved house this weekend and have not actually slept more than 2 hours in a night since Wednesday and it's affecting my health now badly. Tom's in teh same state, he's getting like pink eye or some shit now.

ANd, uh, is still at my new place since he keeps missing the damn train.

xpost Proper live right now

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a sudden urge to pierce my nipple.

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think you're mumbling, but you need to either turn up the mic or turn down the tracks. Big volume difference.

How have I never heard of Q Lazzarus before? Are they actually an eighties band?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO HEAR AS A RESPONSE!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

its a female, one person.

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo I just turned on and you were saying 'friends listening on the internet'. Good stuff.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The nipple thing, I meant.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew OTM. I was listening to the talking and all of a sudden the track came in BOOM! I'm listening at work but lucky for me they think I'm a mentalist anyway.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

(excellent show Ally, btw)

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have any speakers at work, how long are you on for?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i love this Air track. Ally you ROOLZ

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I[m on for another hour and a half about.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

...from "touching hair" to "touch my breast" to... wo-hooo!
do i spot an unfolding theme there? ...mm, apparently no.

(yeah, & wot Andrew said. and teeny - the mic levels!)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

:-( that's a shame, i'll have to sort out some speakers!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

This is wicked!

Alfie (Alfie), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

That's perfect volume!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

mic level much better now, top one nice one

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, I think you should sing the intros.

J (Jay), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

YAY!!! thanks guys :D

xpost I SING FOR NO ONE

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the mic thing is weird, it's like either not enough or too much input. I'm guessing like most student radio, the engineering is kinda well whatever. Or it could be the feed to the internet only that's overdriven! You might ask the engineers to look at the processor, not enough compression perhaps? Otherwise you sound lovely, you have a very nice voice.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

At least tap the rhythm out on your desk then...

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Remember, if you have to use the bathroom: Blue Monday - the DJ's Friend.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Getting bettah all the time! Dontcha fret, Ally girl!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

SHOULD I PLAY CHAKI ON THE AIR????

xpost Andrew I already pulled out Born Slippy Nuxx for a smoke break...

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

This is an Avalanches remix right now, isn't it? It's much appreciated on this end, in any case...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the Avalanches mix. It's so much better than the original.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

even this Manics remix sounds good - can i request Senor Coconut, Miss Kittin and Richard X now?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, I can't listen as the server can't handle any more streams!

chris (chris), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I got one more song before the hour marker--I'll shout out Miss Kittin to you though stevem. I didn't bring Senor Coconut or Richard X but I have a whole semester of this to go.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a soft spot for the original, possibly because I think it nicks the stylophone off 'Mayfly' by Belle & Sebastian.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Do play Chaki!
('ve done that a coupla times, too)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

SHOULD I PLAY CHAKI ON THE AIR????

Absolutely.

Man, I wish I could hear this! But here I am stuck at the library desk. :-( *many good wishes*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds real good, methinks.

J (Jay), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This song that is on right now is not the song I meant to play, whoops.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, if you play the "all your base are belong to us" song at some point this semester, I will seriously be your best friend forever.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

THANK YOU MAGIC NICE DJ LADY

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I have soviet on me, let me check their collection. If I find soviet I'll shout out to you, Andrew.

I'll play Tombot at some point too but only with his permission.

xpost you might be right, teeny.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Title track, Siouxsie is the singer!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude I just got a request from a nonILXor wtf? Other people are listening, amazing. It's playing now. Actually it's kind of awesome.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Wish someone would send me home from work.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Ally's getting more requests with her first show than I did in a whole year. *sobs*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha Ally, do you have the ILX comp? Because you can totally play my song off of that if you want to drive people away.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ain't no love!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no ILX comp :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

WHOOPS forgot to read the disclaimer before playing this song, language is terrible ooooooops.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I am a very sad panda.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

What song is good on the new Basement Jaxx? (I'm required to play a certain # of new songs and don't know anything new)

'Lucky Star'. Wish I had sound.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, no Ally plays the South Park soundtrack back-to-back.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

dude I'll play Outthere Brothers for you next week, seriously. I Just have to read a disclaimer saying that, basically, Barnard College doesn't want to fuck you in the ass, bt rather that is the opinion of the Outthere Brothers

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

A Flock of Seagulls!! Ally, I love you.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Barnard is an all girls' school, we can't fuck you in the ass anyway. At least without props. I mean it should be obvious that it's not Barnard's opinion.
xpost I'll look for it, if I can't find I'll download and play next week PROMISE!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I am disappointed that Barnard College has pre-emptively rejected specific lifestyle choices.

J (Jay), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now a really sad panda
No the pandas can't listen, due to Cheese cub starship. (Chinese censorship)

Jole (Jole), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

chris I can't find but I'll find online.

This goes for anyone, you wanna leave requests for me to compile, that'd be awesome. It leans towards synthpop, new wave, and dance so keep in mind but whatever, I don't care, I Plan to shove some Turbonegro on at some point.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Please play "Too Young" by Phoenix. For the pandas :-(

Jole (Jole), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

As long as at some point we get to hear Tesh and the Zappas, I'm cool.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish a) my work PC had a sound card b) I could listen without being sacked. Bah. It sounds like a R!O!C!K!I!N!G! show though. And I fear Ally's multitasking superwomanhood.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

would like to know what this one is

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not the theme tune to Lupin or something, is it?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

are my levels still messed up or ok now?

xpost I just announced--it was the Theme to Lupin III, the Pizzicato 5 remix.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

A WINNER IS ME!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops, came in late. Oh well, still 25 minutes to go. Music has been top hole so far.

I want Sex Boots Dread please.

Sam (chirombo), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

You can never have too much Jarvis on a radio show. I love this, I'm going to be off sick every week (except for the being sick bit).

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

doping Paranoid Android

That sounds about right.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally are you really allowed to play naughty Mr Ice Cube at this GODLY HOUR?!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure she meant to play the uh clean NWA track.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I phoned the Superbowl audience and they agreed it was outrageous

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sex Boots Dread (you may need to loop your disclaimer in the background)

Hey, did Tom play you that Gourds song?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, are you allowed to be playing this? It's a bit, er, rude, innit?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought this thread was about ally C.

I was told to post.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha, this is someone else now - i like her already

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha the RealAudio stream stopped for a second after Ann started => me wondering if they pulled the plug for swearing.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

She talks over Dizzee = she has the right attitude.

J (Jay), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I came in too late to even hear the last half hour.

I am also a sad panda.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn, managed to just sleep through it. Yay Barnard Ally! I looked at your playlist -- nice Southwestern theme on the site. Next week!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, i missed this :-(

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

You lazy punk.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i woulda like requested howard jones or something dopey like that

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, I'm sorry I missed this. But the soundcard on my computer at home doesn't work anymore and there's no way in hell I could play it on my work computer, so I guess it's moot anyway. Damn.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally! I missed it. Next time do a friendster bulletin too!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ann was pretty cool, I was cueing up another song when she was getting ready but she got it all ready faster than we thought so I was just like, dude, play that, I'm like scrambling here because I can't find the CD I want, so we just said fuck it and merged the two shows today. Tom showed up anyway so we were ready to take off and down some more coffee.

Spencer, that's a good idea! Thank you. Oh NYC ilxors if you wanna come hang out during the show let me know, you're welcome to drop by.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

will you do phone in segments??

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"Now it's time for a long-distance dedication".

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha if you can work in Casey Casem's diatribe about Snuggles, then A WINNER IS YOU!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn, I missed it too! (I've been too [put word here] to remember Friendster, these days.)

Congrats, Ally! Now, you can tell the masses what music they should be blasting.

Is the show EVERY Tuesday?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha if you can work in Casey Casem's diatribe about Snuggles, then A WINNER IS YOU!

WTF? He did? When? Link it if you can find it!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

OH! - I totally misread earlier on that part of the thread were "Soviet" was mentioned. Heheh, I really thought for awhile that it meant 'Soviet pop' and suchlike.
Silly me, then. And I already started to brush up my memory 'bout (post)soviet pop/rock, with certain eagerness, to offer recommendations. O-oh.
:)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah!! Phone in! (212) 854-9944. I mean not now, next week. I mean you can call now but it's someone named Jesse on the air now. He or she might enjoy speaking to you too, so maybe people should call.

Haha recommend some post soviet pop!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

T.A.T.U.!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

She meant GOOD Soviet pop. Say an entire CDs worth, monsieur.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, I emailed you a li'l list (of sorts). Hope you can find some of them.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm required to play a certain # of new songs and don't know anything new)

And one can be fired for flagrant violation of this rule. Also for playing 28-minute Phish or Miles Davis jams followed by Lyle Lovett or Tom Waits (I really am nickalicious). Among other things. The Darius Rucker PSA was always my favorite. Sad that I'll never get to listen to this.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I demand that you are on air until 1 pm your time.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

With guns.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

;-)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Stop stealing my winky. You don't know how to handle it properly.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I could beat you about the head and neck with it, if you'd prefer?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The goggles, etc.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually no, this I want to see.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Being beaten about the head and neck with my winky, now let me think about this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

*squashing inner monologue*

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"inner monologue" is perhaps the oddest genital euphemism I've ever read.

Captain Obvious Post (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Better with surround sound and 3D spectrum....

(Luna, I just had to do it!)

[double x-post]

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally is this archived?? Now I have two friends with shows on Tuesday mronings?? Oh no, the conflict!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

ModJ (ModJ), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude I just THANKED you on the moving thread, I haven't had internet until now at home as you are aware. TIME WARNER NOT ME.

Dude yeah, rosemary, come hang out. Where was the russian pop list emailed? I didn't get it :(

gabbneb, how can they fire you for your taste in mixing?

Allyzay, Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Where was the russian pop list emailed? I didn't get it :(

(Blimey!) I sent it to the very address that's under your posts here on ILE...

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

There about about a thousand of those now!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

we should just turn this into a general Ally thread, where we ask her things and she gives us her ALly-take on things.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:09 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe i can move to the WBAR studios instead of going back to central jersey?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

(K-komplikatedness of this here virtual life threatens to krush & korrupt me tonite, weepweep)

Ally, I do hope you manage to find that thingy!

(Eisbär - aren't there about a thousand of those around already :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ally, what is the opposite of nature?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

ally, how many peas would fit inside a cabbage?

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

*kapitulates*

Now Ally, wot's the oppsite of radio?

(Found that list yet??)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ally, what's kraftwerk's worst album?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

We weren't fired, just not re-upped after a semester or two (you had to reapply), and I later heard secondhand that they looked at our playlists and were all "wtf?"

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:33 (twenty-one years ago)

that's actually pretty funny ... having a play list so varied and eclectic that even a college radio station is all "OMGWTF?!?" about it.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, I'll bring some girl pop cds

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

having a play list so varied and eclectic that even a college radio station is all "OMGWTF?!?" about it.

You realize all you have to do to get this result is go to a record store and purchase your own music instead of playing the freebies, right?

http://www.cmj.com/industry/chart_preview.php?id=1

TOMBOT, Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, CMJ, the memories...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha yeah Ned I had the same reaction when I looked it up.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 12 February 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Tom, m'friend, your e-mail address said it all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 03:03 (twenty-one years ago)

THe opposite of nature is Nick Dastoor.

Who cares how many peas fit inside a cabbage, they are both disgusting excuses for veggies.

The opposite of radio is Playstation. I have not found any list, where did you mail it???

Kraftwerk's worst album is possibly Trans Europe Express, actually, buut this is all relative.

No one I've spoken to at WBAR plays the majority of the freebies and just brings enormous books of their own albums. One DJ brings in his laptop and just pluugs it in and hits shuffle, apparently.

Allyzay, Thursday, 12 February 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally any chance of getting our bands single played?

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 12 February 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, I just looked at your playlist and it's like the best radio show ever. Good job *high five*.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

*low five*!

Allyzay, Thursday, 12 February 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't bother with requests. Turn off your targeting computer and trust your feelings!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you going to be the disembodied voice in Ally's skull now?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks for reminding me to do that Ned! You too will be hearing from me later!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, does that pay well?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Just don't push aside vines when you talk to me about my family, that looks cheesy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, does that pay well?

Pay? Tis done for the sheer joy of driving the subject mad.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

It's nice work if you can get it, but every job has it's headaches - sometimes I have to sit down because my migraines literally feel like millions of souls are crying out in terror and then are suddenly silenced.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Here I thought God didn't get migraines.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

We're not talking about god.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 February 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ally, are you allowed to play songs where people curse?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

YES SHE IS (as long as she reads a disclaimer beforehand)!!!!!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 12 February 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

'This song has cursing and if you don't like that, Gareth will kill you with guns.'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Princess Ally, Thursday, 12 February 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 12 February 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't that awesome?? ?Wasn't it also awesome that I Just announced the Paperclip People as Kahimi Karie?? Isn't that endearing?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I hope the student psychological support group enjoys the Soviet national anthem now that I'm thinking things thru.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What's not to enjoy? Stalin feels da voibe!

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, if you DON'T play the Soviet Annthem...

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

wow I just remembered I fucking hate Kahimi Karie. Sorry folks.

haha I wish someone had a raving stalin gif.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the best I could do:

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Naw, naw, Allyzay -- Kahimi Karie is totally great. That one song "1,000 20th Century Chairs" or whatever in the hell it is, is really neato. I don't know the song you played, but shocker!

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Who was the bannd with Elastica's vocalist?

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS! i haven't heard that soundtrack since i was wee young.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

DAN I LOVE YOU

OK After Giorgio Moroder I'm playing a barnard student request, it sounded ok from the 10 seconds I cued of it, but if it sucks blame college students.

xpost the band was called Pleasure. The album is pretty new.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

:D

I wanna put that on my flyer for my show! With my slogan!! "Time to get crunk in the club with robots"

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Singlehandedly Ally will reform the awful musical taste of Barnard students! Hurrah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

LET THEM BUY IMPORTS

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

It doesn't work without the visuals...

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

ah 'Moi...Lolita' - this reminds me how great j0e's mash-up of this with Daft Punk's 'Aerodynamic' was - YOU ALL NEED IT IN YOUR LIFE YOU KNOW IT

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Antoinette.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I was debating between the mash up and this, stevem.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the mp3 stream about 30 seconds or so after the real audio one? Dan's post came up before I heard Ally talking about how you can't get Alizee in the states.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

ROUND ROUND ROUND WE GO

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I don't think so coz I have the mp3 stream up now..

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm gonna have to read the disclaimer before I play my next song.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

IS IT THE OUTHERE BROTHERS???????????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, it's the Eve song from Blade 2, which is ALMOST AS GREAT!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The best bit of this song is nicked from the Prodigy. I'm just saying.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ok i have to go to a meeting so i miss whatever song is being disclaimered ... see yas in an hour! U RULE ALLYZAY!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Can you insult people while reading the disclaimer?

"if you are of weak constitution or of puritan upbringing..."

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think it's a sample though Farrell

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have the Outhere Bros with me cos I was out of town and only just got in :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It's okay, if I'd known you had the Eve song I'd have requested that, too!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

YES

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just saying.

Mmm, Eve.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

This song is too long

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

How do you say "Timony"? Jimmy the Mod I'm looking at you.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(haha Ally, if you'd followed "Cowboy" with Fatboy Slim's "In Heaven"...!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

..."bitchinato"...?!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

HJAHAHAHA yeah I have no idea what the dude is saying but this song is awesome.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim-mony

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

What's your backing music?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

OH PLAY THE REAL VERSION

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

It's Nichole on acid!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea what the dude is saying but this song is awesome

er, "awesom...", even ;)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

this DFA mix destroys the original 'Deceptacon' too

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yo Jimmy do you want to go see Mary Timony perform?? For free?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

OK I'm putting yr name down, I'll send you the 411

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

what do I have to do to get this to go on until a reasonable hour???

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Nice

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

JM: the 21st, 9pm Knitting Factory, you will have to come by WBAR to pick up.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(luna - move to a different time zone?)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

YAY!

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally - I think your flyer also has to integrate elements of

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

(luna - move to a different time zone?)

No no, the mountain has to come to ME, dammit. Stop being so sensible.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm with Luna. The West Coast must have its say!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Reprazent...

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

MARY TIMONY !!

kephm, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah!

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

This show comes on too early for me! Therefore, I'm going to look at the playlist, download the songs, throw 'em into winamp and have my computer say "WTF!" in a computer voice between each track!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

burn me a copy of that, will you please?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn, I'll never hear this show.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I DEMAND SATISFACTION.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer please do that but pick about 40 different songs and then send me the copy of it, I'm going to play it instead of my actual show, that sounds amazing.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

trust me, btw, I didn't exactly choose a 10am timeslot. There's a reason why I structured all of my classes around the concept of 1pm.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but... but....

Dammit.

I have to move to NYC.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

8-0

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

"WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Classic.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Winamp, Gangsta Style? There's no market for that, without the stereotypes and Daisy Dukes....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

What?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

"WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!, WHAT THE F*CK!"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

What?

I was kidding! What's a stereotype if you can't show how ridiculous it all is?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the playlist? I couldn't seem to find it on the website.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

http://wbaroffice.cjb.net/playlistarchive.php

search: mes

(short for 'mes courants electriques', Ally's excellently named show).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! Ally indeed rules all with that show name.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Indeed.

Ally, was this just for the past week? For playing Set The Controls and Les Mots, I could.....well, let's say I salute you.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the 'song' and 'album' columns are the wrong way round on that thing, but who cares

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

wait a minute, what was the 'intergalactic' vs daft punk that was played?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer you're the only one who understands the joke properly. I actually asked them to list me as Allizee and they refused :( :( fucktards.

stevem, I, um, didn't play it. By accident.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 18 February 2004 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you again for the song and the shout-out :-)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 18 February 2004 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

You're welcome, it gave me a perfectly good excuuse to play the best song ever.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 18 February 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ATTN DAN PERRY: WILL YOU BE LISTENING TOMORROW? BECAUSE I AM GOING TO PLAY A SONG FOR YOU.

Allyzay, Monday, 23 February 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway to "record" a web stream like this? Dammit.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Total Recorder for windows. If I wake up early enough, I might try it.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Audio Hijack for OS X presumably has this functionality but I've never tried it.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool, lessee if it's got a timer function

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

if it doesn't, Applescript does, I once knew how to do all this but aieeeee those days were long ago

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Total Recorder is sweet, but it messes with Quicktime on my PC, so I have to uninstall when I'm done with it.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh

You know with my DJ password I have access to MP3 files of my show, if you guys want MP3s that last for 2 hours and are similarly sized MB-wise.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I would totally download those, but will they notice the bandwidth leech?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Cuz then I could like, listen to these at my leisure, instead of setting my alarm clock tomorrow morning and then calling in to bitch about it.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have slsk? I downloaded the last one last week, I can just add them to my shared folder. Though the idea of you calling in to bitch at me about the time frame has its special appeal, mainly of actually having a caller to put on the air instead of getting about 40 trillion IMs from people who refuse to pick up a phone and entertain me...

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

A 5 minute song on Audio Hijack is like 50 MB, just so you know i.e. a 2 hour radio show would be a monster.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the thread where I scratch my ass and do nothing remotely close to listening to Ally. Because Im an American. I have that right. Fuckers.

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The 2 hour show from last week is 128mb (my version, not an Audio Hijack version). It includes about 10 minutes of Jordan's show though (the dj prior to me).

If you want it, it is in my shared folder on slsk, it was actually already there, under a folder called RADIO SHOWS. My username is Allyzay. But last show was crap because I hadn't gotten any sleep!!

xpost that's ok, I didn't care about your stupid ass trip to Iceland so I'll get over this slight. I have better taste in music than you so I win in the end.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

But- but- but.....thats not fair.

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Butt face.

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Schweinefleisch.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Boo! I got winamp streaming in here but I brought no headphones and the retired marine officers think that my request to put the stream on the sound system is ha-ha.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

They're probably sitting in their office calling you a fag right this second.

DUDE Dan Perry to the fucking thread already, I don't got that long before people start showing up in the office and will look down upon my playing of Fuck U In The Ass.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It'd be a lot gayer if they were listening to Santa Esmerelda.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

No, it'd be a lot more awesome. All retired marines should listen to nothing but spaghetti western disco.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a really long song, I had to go run and get a drink, sorry.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Duders, I'm all "shakeitshakeshakeit."

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude I once played the full length version of "A Huge Ever Expanding Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld" on my show because I had to use the loo.

Actually "The Huge Ever Expanding Pulsating Brain" was my DJ name for a while. I can't believe I'm admitting this.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Gayer _and_ awesomer. I'm imagining a line of R. Lee Ermeys and the handclapping. I am still imagining this to Outkast. Your mission, should you blah blah, is to play something that makes them go away.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost job done!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I'm sure the Royksopp remix of Weak Become Heroes is NOT HELPING is it, Andrew??? Because it's not helping me.

Also, Tom, you're really lucky you're damned cute right now cos that is the dorkiest thing I've ever heard.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Guess whose radio station is starting up webcasts again next week. And guess whose show is on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm. May I be Pepsi to your Coke, Ally?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

"I'm gonna tear you up and sprinkle you over the Love Parade, son!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude Anthony don't steal my thread.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What in the name of the little babby jesus is this? Or that, as it has now become.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

aw

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I made markelby listen to the cunting crows this morning on my radio station!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Now that's just cruel.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

what song?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer dude, I have a stream recorder on our home PC, I'll mail it to you, it's pretty small when zipped.

Headphones now banned in our office :o(

chris (chris), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew which song are you talking about?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It was the Yellow Magic Orchestra. And it was funky.

chris: headphones banned = soundwars!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

there is zis track, what is zis track?

some requests/ideas in a 'like whatever whenever' stylo:

steve miller band 'abracadabra'
king 'love and pride'
codec & flexor 'crazy girls make my heart go boom boom'
the normal 'tvod'
new order 'fine time'
fc kahuna 'microcuts'
sea and cake 'that one off the atp 1.0 cd'

and i'm sure it's not allowed or remotely sensible but Redman's 'Doggz 2'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

El Diablo on OTM -- Teeny, what did you do to the poor man!

So these shows are being archived on mp3, are they? HMMM.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha "allowed"

I bet they have the New Order here, dude. Their selection here is for shit though, they got like 8 billion sea and cake albums but no, for example, Daft Fucking Punk. Most of my show is my own CDs.

xpost, yes Ned, I should be able to get todays, erm, tonight.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Rock. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I now see why She's a Lady was never a single--the throbby sound in the bassline does not like being levelled out.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

WOW that was the most fucking up I've done so far during a dj set!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

John says, "she's so cute; she sounds like she's leaving a message."

Otis D. Wheeler, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

the original 'mad world' sounds totally fucked up after listening to the new SO SO SAD gary jules version all the time lately.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never actually heard this, just the version that's been sucked dry by Shitspawn Jules. It's pretty cool. xpost.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Needs more carnival organ.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha tell John I said hi! I'll play a song for you guys NEXT before you go to class.

xpost this version is a lot better IMO. I hate the version from Donnie Darko, I was aghast at it. Quietly, to myself.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

awesome

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Bootlegging has ruined that theme for me, I can't listen to it without wondering when the rappers will arrive. By the end, I'm like c'mon, bring them, anyone, even Vanilla Ice.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Junk! [Awesome!]

Otis D. Wheeler, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

God what is with your Vanilla Ice thing?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh i really wanted a rap over that Knight Rider theme too but at the same tempo as the original not slowed down like 'Fire It Up' or whatever

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

THE KNIGHT RIDER THEME IS BEST AS IT IS. PERFECTION IN 128 SECONDS.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

If I'd known you had Kompressor I've have asked for some! Probably "Rappers We Crush", though.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to change my vote. That's fucking great.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

haha kompressor, wtf?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I hurt my finger.

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha apparently the director working the office right now loves the crap out of Kompressor and they ARE releasing an album. NEXT WEEK!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

WAIT I'M HERE NOW

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

damn this would go great with the original 'Fly Life'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

it's amazing, isn't it? Thankfully the station director is out there listening to like Metallica really loud instead of what I'm playing.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

CANDLELIGHT AND VASELINE/IT'S SUCH A FREAKY SCENE

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It's kind of restrained compared to what I was expecting. If it was in Spanish I could completely believe it was some company anthem.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh it's skipping a little

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

'does not necessarily reflect the opinions of...' HA HA

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i may have to post that on the 3XC3L510R thread even tho it wasn't a post but was said on air!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude you totally missed the change to spell out that _neither_ Barnard college _nor_ WBAR wants to fuck you in the ass. That'll haunt you.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

BUT THEY DO, ANDREW. THEY DO. "Necessarily" is the key word in that statement.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

let's not spoil that wonderful moment of comedic perfection by discussing it further

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah let's talk about Revulva instead.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(just got tipped that this was going on by someone on slsk)

cool track, this!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

haha you should play the dirty version of I Luv U and point out that neither...

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I LUV U

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

this is the second called I Luv U that I played today ,wtf?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanted to put him on the air to chew out Dan but the instructions for working the phone are missing. Who would steal instructions to operate a phone.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

is this the Haggis Trax CD you said you were looking for Ally?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I got two of the trax finally off slsk.

btw I'm disappointed that no one posted the gareth picture after my question about stealing instructions to operate a phone :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was expecting Stevem to reveal he had three crates of the CD around his house, Del-boy style.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck you, Pacific Standard Time!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna speaks to my soul! (In this case, fuck you PST *and* fuck the fact I can't have speakers at the library front desk.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Word.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

DJ Ally is my http://wbaroffice.cjb.net/playlists/new.jpg hero.

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally's show is like the best radio show ever. It was even better than Terry Gross interviewing Triumph!

Also that last song was amazing, but I downloaded it (what it's called on the site archive) and it's not the same! What is it?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

What last song, the one from the Japan for Sale cd? Or the one that Ann and Christian started playing while I was saying adios? Haha I might've hit the wrong track #, look up Japan for Sale Vol 2 and see tracks 12 and 13, whichever one you DIDN'T download is the right track then.

Of course you could be talking about something else.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, yeah it was in Japanese. I'm off to soulseek now! My favorite song of the month definitely. Thanks!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You can listen to me right now. But I may bore you.

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

SHOW OF DEATH

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

or kill you for that matter.

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Also Dan, sorry about the public criticism. Remember, it's all about the ratings!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah yeah, IT'S ON NOW MY SMOOTH WEST COAST NEMESIS

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

BRING IT, ASS-F*CKER.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Clash of the titans!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(psst nemesis, Chris is playing a-ha!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

(yeah, I've been listening - good show, especially liked hearing flock of seagulls)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris is a goodly man. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks guys

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I could listen :(

Allyzay, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ATTENTION. I still have not figured out this song! It's making me carayzie!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It's definitely one of the last tracks on the Japan for Sale Vol. 2 CD. I didn't have any other CD in the decks, I had taken out my last one and was helping them set up on the turntables so it couldn't be any other thing I played by accident cos the other changer and the tape deck were empty. It was supposed to be a song called "New Wave Jacket" but I wasn't actually listening at that point so I'm not sure if I hit the wrong track #. That was the only Japanese language song I played too, the last song I played so I know you aren't talking about something else! I'll check next week ok?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

haha! it's ok. I'll try to listen to the whole thing!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Atarashii Hibi is I think the song you're looking for. Seriously though the best track on JFS2 is Stereo Nights by Takkyu Ishino. I can't decide whether him or Yoshinori Sunahara is my favorite member of Denki Groove. I should shut up.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah Spencer the whole thing is good, I wish I was paying attention so I could tell you what I actually played versus what I meant to play, I might've not turned the dial far enough/turned it too far and either came a track sooner or later than I meant to.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I've liked all the tracks from it that I've listened to so far! So thanks again! I've also found some remixes of that Stereo Nights track...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Mystery solved! You played track #1! Mayu Kitaki - "Nakanaide". It reminds me of soulful 2-step UK Garage from 2001.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 27 February 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Pure! Morning! (Ned is weeping in his sleep)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I started like 20 minutes early today, sorry, Jordan was nicht hier.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so fucking tired. Are the levels ok? I dont' feel like putting on the headphones, I spent too much time making my hair look anime this morning to fuck it up.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoa. My iTunes was on random and just started WBAR by accident and I clicked over to the playlist page to see 'who's playing Placebo here in 2004 in the wee hours?' and only then remembered it's ALLY TIME!

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I plan to also play BLUR it is like the 90s never ended.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like Miller Time.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

If I had a radio gig, I'd play a track from the last Placebo album every week until the world learned to love it. Or I got fired.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Also a few minutes earlier I saw wbarrequest in my AIM list and my tired little mind thought, "oh, Tad's online."

WBÄR.

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHA Andrew it is funny you should say that, someone wrote on the label for the last Placebo album, and I quote: "Play anything off this and your job and life are forfeit"

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone was very wise.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I am glad to hear Scissor Sisters, as I have two tickets to go see them tonight. Both for me - I am a gimp.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Pure! Morning! (Ned is weeping in his sleep)

Wah.

Someone was very wise.

I deny you by right of being the birthday boy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Laff Riot (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you for playing my favorite song EVAH while I was shaving. When the people that you meet try to open you up like christmas...

Otis D. Wheeler, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

OK can anyone please tell me anything about what I played so far post placebo.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

http://wbaroffice.cjb.net/playlistarchive.php?searchterm=ally&searchin=DJ&exact=on says it was Right Said Fred, Daft Punk, The Rapture, Scissor Sisters.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh i mean fancy choosing Bad English ahead of Mr Big, fuckin copout

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I swear to god that "I don't have no problem with you fucking me but I got a little problem with you not fucking me" is the greatest line in the history of songcraft.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

not quite as good as "your pussys on interrupt"

Chris 'The Big Ragu' V (Chris V), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

GO GO MOUNTAIN GOATS PLUG!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Mountain Goats and KIMYA DAWSON (do not read if you hate Kimya Dawson)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Kimya Dawson is not listed on this sheet. It just says MOUNTAIN GOATS. I wish I remembered, I would've bugged John to stop by.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, I can't listen to this from work, it gives me an error playing the MP3 stream! Doh!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I know that this song doesn't work with my format but He Thought of Cars is my favorite Blur song.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

YAAAAY

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha then we can be goths together!

god it's hot in herrre.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever this thumpy fuzztrack is, it is almost making me as happy as "Dazzle" would have.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha "I'm sorry guys, I'm out of it today... LIKE I AM EVERY DAY; DEAL WITH IT YOU OVERBEARING FUXORS. Now, here's some Sophie-Ellis Bextor."

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I COMPLETELY KISS YOU!!!!! GO!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Um Andrew is there any particular reason why you're bringing that up again? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying the sheet in the book where we write down the guest list says merely "MOUNTAIN GOATS".

thumpy fuzztrack was t. rauschmiere, monstertruckdriver. Go! is courtesy of Sean C. who sent me the mp3.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG Do you have "Fuck All Night" by Mocky???????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I don't have it but I COULD have it...

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, I guess I live in a world where it's difficult to go to Kimya Dawson gigs and people should get the word out. I am coming to suspect that New York may not be run along such lines.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

falco 'der komissar'
braxe & falke 'rubicon' (ideally the dj funk 'let me bang' bootleg but it's mp3 only)

DURAN DURAN ATTACK!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha you noticed that? I was chatting with the next DJs and totally didn't even cue up stardancer.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it heretical to think that "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" is the best St. Ettiene single?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay Ally, seriously, did you walk into this show thinking, "Okay, this week I'm totally going to pander to Dan Perry?" BECAUSE THIS IS LIKE THE GREATEST TEARS FOR FEARS SONG EVER.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Only if you have heard Xmas Day or He's on the Phone

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Only Love Can Break Your Heart is better than I was Born on XMas Day.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I dearly regret not shouting out "Where the streets have no name!" at the start of this track at the SS gig last week.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm never home on Tuesdays to hear this, but today I have like eight hours of transcription to do, so yay.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I AM SO BUYING THE SCISSOR SISTERS CD

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, the best way to unwind on a Tuesday afternoon in London. A shoutout to the SOAS Posse would shock the mangy students knocking around in my office trying to organise some form of student governement insurrection.

Aah lovely Morricone.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan you must get the Scissor Sisters remix of Blondie's 'Good Boys' - in fact Ally that's my new request if possible at some point whenever thanks mndjl

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I should stop sneaking ahead on the playlist.
Yes Sire I Can Boogie though would be nice.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll get it, stevem--I actually have a different remix of Good Boys but I think it's at home :(

Shoutout to the SOAS Posse? Like S-O-A-S or am I supposed to somehow pronounce that? I'll dedicate the next song. Like Casey Casem.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG I JUST FOUND A FOXGLOVES RECORDING IN THE CD LIBRARY WTF?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the first time I've been able to get this, due to my home computer not liking anything too taxing for it's poor little hard drive.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I too have a wicked wicked cold.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i like it when Americans say 'wicked' - your cold does sound great Ally

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

you have to play the foxgloves. except that I am going out and won't hear it.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

YAY PROMQUEEN!!!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, only one of them twitched, but hey, I appreciated it. Cheers Ally. And we all know colds = mic technique.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea what they, the Foxgloves, sound like, what song should I play? My choices are "I dreamt that love was a crime", "You're the dream I can't wake up from", "I Know very well how I got my name", and "GU".

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

BTW: you have two listeners at 19 magazine now. (Okay, one of them is me, but one other person is interested too.)

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Can you do a flow chart on what song Ally will play next.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, G.U.!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm dedicating it to you, RJG.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

WOW!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

In 15 minutes, on the HOUR, which is maximum listeners!!! You are now famous! Or will be!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Robots singing Elvis!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't played Cincinnatti Riot Blues in a week, I'm playing that again.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno how to make it let me listen : (

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, got it!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

haha!!!!!!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Worst Archigram track ever!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha I'm going to play a daft punk subproject next, it'll be jarring.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

you should play I dreamt that love is a crime, next!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm seriously leaving this on the desk written on it "I know these guys! Play track #4!! It's good, like the Smiths" to see if I can somehow jimmy the top 30 to inexplicably include the Foxgloves at wbar!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

you're gonna make PF like you as much as I do, ally.

; )

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

are you doing the vocal over this track, ally?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Ural 13 Diktators! You rule!!!!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

AAAARGH I have to go shower but you're going to play Royksopp!!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha RJG I'm not sure what that means tho I am fairly certain the PF hates me.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

How important can a shower be Dan. Its only your mind wot is filthy.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't take a shower for two days straight cos I was too sick to do it, if I could survive you can too!

oh no this is the clean version of the song FUCK YOU WBAR thwarted again.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ally would like to point out that she has hos in all area codes, unlike WBAR, which has to travel out to international waters to get laid"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha! Another favourite, this Felix remix!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Ally:
Are YMO in fact the best band ever?

A Music Fan.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE COME OUT OF THE SHOWER TO (except possibly a nekkid dogpile of my wife, Thandie Newton, Milla Jovovich, Gabrielle Union, and nu-Uma Thurman).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

IMAGE

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"OH, THAT'S OK THEN"

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

All so clear. And once again I miss what sounds like a brilliant show! WAH!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Good grief.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

sup Charlie Brown?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't really get it.

Did anyone hear the FGs played on the radio?

How did RJG hear it?

Did he stop trying Glasgow?

the blissfox, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone on the Columbia campus and all of the people on this thread heard the Foxgloves, pf. I piped reception directly into RJG's head, that is how he heard it, though. I'm trying to direct him to stop trying Glasgow and start trying Nevada instead but his brainwaves are not amicable to the suggestion.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

; )

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

whagwan?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally's on vacation back home this week. Invent yer own mix.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

alright. i will.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I was unfortunately away, as Ned mentioned.

Allyzay, Monday, 22 March 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

play some helloween.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Everyone can use a little helloween. I would download some helloween right now if I wouldn't get in trouble at work for it.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I listened to Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II twice already today, I think it's one of my favourite albums of all time.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

So were Helloween a Germanic Iron Maiden? (I'm bemused by the idea of El Diablo being a power metal fan, I admit.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

anything as long as it's not Ween

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned! Have you not heard Helloween? I guess I'd call them "helium power pop-metal", but only coz I like inventing genres.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 22 March 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

or maybe a twee Kreator.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 22 March 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoa this is the best Beck track I've ever heard!

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The one that skipped :(

It IS the best Beck track in the entire world. Whale is kind of better though. It's like horny Beck.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

No, actually I meant the Whale.

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Ally, I'm listening too!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi dude! Didn't you get the memo though? This is my personal love message show to Paul.

I just said the Whale song is better than Beck! I'm tired SURPRISE.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hoping that 2raumwohnung's Ich Und Elaine (Club Mix) lives up to the title, but I don't see how anything could.

Unless this is it I'm hearing. This is still Marc Almond with two pints of royksopp, yes?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I don't know when you were hearing it. 2raumwohnung had discernible vocals, whereas the Marc Almond track seemingly negates his entire vocal track.

Except now we're listening to the House Crew.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

..and it was. Ich Und Elaine was nice, but Euphoria is ridiculously great, like something put together in 1998 to advertise "Totally Mental - 20 rave anthems!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm listenin', i like that 2raumwohnung one, and Hoose Croo naturally

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

"You'll never need to hear another track again! Feel a scientifically accuarate simulation of what it's like to be Simon Reynolds all the time!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually think the original of Ich Und Elaine is better (I have never listened to the Tiga mix until today)

xpost HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I wonder if Simon Reynolds will come on my show.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, NOW I understand why people love Pulp!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

You say doubleyoos in a really dinky way!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

OOOH PLAY MOCKY NEXT!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, NOW I understand why people love Pulp!

Oh good. :-) What song was played?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah I had to go get stupid groop photo taken during Pulp.

You should read out one celebrity PSA per week!

Ned: she's a lady.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark wtf does that mean?!

I played She's a Lady. Dan, you'd probably like the His 'n' Hers album and maybe even Separations a lot better than Different Class and later, I Think.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, "This Is Hardcore", "Common People" and "Seductive Barry" are all great, but WOW is "She's A Lady" fantastic!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost I now want to check those albums out!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, I think the sock drawer had them for a bit there... ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I've never actually heard "Like A Motorway" before! The singing's better than "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" but I still like the latter more. Still, THIS IS NEAT.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

different vocalist innit

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

She's a Lady is possibly my favorite Pulp song that doesn't contain the letters c, o, m, n, and p.

I actually have My Legendary Girlfriend (off Separations) on one of these CDs, I think.

xpost yeah, Only Love Can Break Your Heart isn't sung by Sarah Cracknell.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Has Dan not heard much St. Etienne then? Some twin of mine he is!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember hearing a remix of "Join Our Club" and going, "Hmmm, I guess I don't really have to follow these guys after all."

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

OMGOMD!

Paul Eater (eater), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally you superstar. I love Enola Gay.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to irrationally hate this song because of the video (and because it wasn't "Forever Live And Die" which is still my favorite OMD song).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That must have been a really bad video ('cause I lurv the song and then some).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

this would be French then

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

French? I thought Daft Punk were Arabs. That's this song off then!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine a couple of twats bouncing up and down to the song in the world's worst fake airplane shot on Granny's old Super-8 and you've got the "Enola Gay" video.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i meant the one before Daft Punk, unless that was Daft Punk as well

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I only hate fun when it is accompanied by a chirpy-sounding soundtrack (plus you may underestimate how wildly stupid these guys look in the airplane; they make Al Jourgensen in the "Revenge" video look like Master Thespian).

I love how the end of the Daft Punk remix uses the Nebula II "Peacemaker" chord progression!

(XPOST YAY MORE PULP FOR MEEEEEE)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

OM MY GOD PULP USED TO BE AWESOME RATHER THAN PRETTY GOOD!!!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem, daft punk go by so many aliases these days that I really am not sure if what i'm playing is really daft punk anymore. In fact, I think ALL of it might be daft punk.

hahaha Dan discovers the completely ignored Pulp albums...His 'n' Hers is their best album!!! You wouldn't know it by picking up Different ClassThe Hits!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh heh heh. Ally has done the world a service today! :-) Now which song in particular? "Acrylic Afternoons" or "Pink Glove"?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I played My Legendary Girlfriend off Separations. They don't have His 'n' Hers at the station. ACRYLIC AFTERNOONS IS TOTALLY UP DAN'S ALLEY THOUGH.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

After xposts, my current post makes no sense!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

DAN'S ALLEY, huh huh.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Not right this second, the IM thing, though. Unless you wanna bug Ann and Christian, they're cool people.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, your new email address suggests a 22nd century Ivy League alcoholic.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex! I've PLAYED Killing Joke and dedicated it to you! For reals, I dunno who can vouch for me but "Eighties" was played in your honor upon the birth of your daughter.

Spencer, what email?!?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is Lance Lockarm when you need him?

Lance is pondering his next move carefully.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What time did you all get home?

(ps you're all wrong)

Allyzay, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

HI PETE!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

PS: tune!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone left RJG out in the rain.

Who knows when we have gotten home any night this week!

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Please tell me this is a windup. You haven't let Pete Baran on the radio have you? WITH A MICROPHONE?!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I could listen to this.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

"New Yorkers flee after 'War Of The Worlds' radio hoax"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yay fat bob!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Impossible Dream..."

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope he was frisked for concealed Carter records on entry...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete's on the air? Sweet. Now make sure the mike is fully turned up so I can hear him. My request is his a capella rendition of Crazytown's "Butterfly."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Why on earth would I be hoaxing people with this? That'd be a bit weird. "LET'S WIND UP ANDREW AND MATT THAT WILL SHOW THEM"
Don't make us sing some more karaoke.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I thought Andrew might be winding me up... karaoke is urgent and key. Pete does a mean Kelly Osbourne.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

that was a really good segue ally!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(my mention of a hoax was a rubbish joke, rather than an actual accusation)

There was Karaoke? ARGGHH etc.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

That was surreal, I forgot I was listening to a radio show and then I heard Ally's voice and was like "what song have I queued that begins with an American talking".

I like "Deep South" by the way, this track. Tim F would be ecstatic!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

WAH. I can hear all the music but how come you folks can hear Ally talking but I can't? Seriously: I'm using the WBAR Listener javascript since the regular mp3 stream can't really play much for me and all I get is the music.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

chill ned, she doesn't cut in that often.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

So I gathered, but the thing is that there are always these weird gaps in the airplay (like what I'm getting right now) where there's nothing on. At first I thought it was just dead air but I later figured out that's when she's on the mike.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, no, it's not, Ned. I haven't had "dead air"/talking in 8 minutes now ,as that was the length of the last song.

I think your player is cutting out.

TECHNOLOGY IT FAILS YOU.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

BAH. Then on the one hand I have a player that only wants to play certain songs, it seems, and on the other an mp3 stream that my work computer refuses to acknowledge. I must protest.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

what circle of hell spawned this common people remix.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

*futzes around with Winamp and threatens computer* Okay, now I'm getting the Motiv-8 remix of "Common People," I assume I'm in the right place. Keeps dropping the signal, which sucks. :-(

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah, I'll have to switch to the lo-fi stream. Somebody buy WBAR more processing power for the hi-fi stream -- rob a bank or something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

It works fine for me, you're not downloading are you?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay! Joy Division!

Ronan I'm just using Winamp's 'play location' command, plug in the URL from the page source, etc. I sure hope I'm not just downloading the file! I haven't gotten one dropout yet from the lo-fi stream in comparison, I can say that much.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no I just meant you weren't downloading concurrently, on slsk or something?

My computer messes up audio streams if I leave slsk on, or at least it used to, I haven't tried with broadband yet.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Speak of the goddamn devil, now it TOTALLY cut out. What the fuck?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete!!!!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Finally, voices! Ally mocking Ronan on the air!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! I HEARD THAT!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

the lo-fi stream stops abruptly every few minutes for me.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHAHA! Ned, did you hear the dedication?????

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost obv)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I request Madison Avenue's "Don't Call Me Baby"?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the lo-fi stream stops abruptly every few minutes for me.

So I'm not alone!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally's enthusiasm for the indie-rockin' sounds of the Apples in Stereo is unrestrained.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I've realized! "Wot" is CLEARLY the crossover song between Ally and Pete's sensibilities (it's halfway to Carter, innit?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha Carter USM featuring Bomb the Bass - "Wot"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a bit .. adventurous in the beats department.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

do you have anything on nietzschean heroes in Irish film?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and God aka Marc Almond is now singing = all is right with the world.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Like "Country House"?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Bollocks, I'll try that again:

http://images.thesun.co.uk/picture/0,,2004190509,00.jpg
A nietzschean hero for our times!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, Ronan's dream just came true!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I am already doing intermission. I can't believe Pete thinks it's crap though. Maybe you need to be Irish.

I will try and fit Country House in somewhere.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

?? I thought that Pete thought Intermission was alright. Maybe he was talking about the soundtrack.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm with Milo re: "Don't Call Me Baby."

adam (adam), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they should play the Venga Boys for Venga DanPerry

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Nag Nag Nag always sounds like it's being sung by Weebl & Bob.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHAHA

"When come back bring distorted noise."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, tell Pete he can't leave, he needs to be your regular guest cohost every other week or something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Best. Song. Ever.

adam (adam), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"Nazis morning noon and night!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It's weird hearing this song NOT in a bootleg/mashup version.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I had the same reaction to the Knight Rider theme upthread.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Hearing "Girls on Film" in anything other than the proper version, in contrast, would be a crime against the gods.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer the Night Mix.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Especially the part in the video where the cowgirl swabs down the guy dressed as a horse. I think it raised the bar too high for it to ever be topped.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I have some Girls Aloud I would like to play for you, Ned.

Otis Wheeler (Otis Wheeler), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

WAH.

(Hi Otis!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

OTIS I KISS YOU

Allyzay, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Kisses!! Good show!

(Hi Ned!)

Otis Wheeler (Otis Wheeler), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

blimey. it's pete.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, damn, I had to leave for work three songs before "Don't Call Me Baby."

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

did anyone record this? i was in Buffalo and they don't have...anything there.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm downloading it to my computer as we speak, stevem--it's an enormo file but I can certainly send to you/put on a disk for you.

Allyzay, Thursday, 29 April 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Could you send it to me too? If that's not possible, that's okay.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah definitely, though the one on the site right now is not the one from this week, I'll have to try again this weekend.

Allyzay, Thursday, 29 April 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

if anyone is reading this thread right this second they should listen to Daiana's show, Trance in my Pants, it's on Wednesdays at midnight and she's playing good stuff right now.

Allyzay, Thursday, 29 April 2004 03:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The music is great and everything, but for my nuggets of "wisdom" its not worth it. I should have remembered to bring more CD's. Anyway, cheers to Ally for this piece of unexpected fun (and sorry I legged it off like I did).

Oha nd I kinda liked Intermission, but found the central character really annoying, and the other sly digs at Oirish cinema a little bit too parochial. And the soundtrack sucked.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 29 April 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't get the digs at Irish cinema, were there some?

I thought the dig at the GARDAI was possibly the best thing about it. Meaney's character stole it. Then again the bus driver was also ace.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 29 April 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ACHTUNG!

I just totally fuxored up my schedule for the next two weeks.

1) I am on TONIGHT probably 10pm-12am EST. The website will say I am Trevor. I am not Trevor.
2) I am on FRIDAY 10pm-12am EST. Perhaps I will have a SPECIAL GUEST DJ.
3) I am on MONDAY 8pm-10pm EST. I think I will play ONLY TURBONEGRO (this is not true)
4) I am NOT on TUESDAY 10am-12pm because that time slot is fucking lame.

When I get a new regular schedule going, I'll post it.

Allyzay, Monday, 3 May 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you for giving up your lame timeslot.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

and if I could listen to music at work I'd so be rocking this at 10 tonight.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh special guest dj.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just gonna hijack your thread to note that I will be playing a super ILX-baiting show at 11am tomorrow in celebration of the fact that I no longer have any ILX webradio competition at that time. Can you say MOUNTAIN GOATS? MOMUS? INTERNATIONAL TELEPATHS? Fuckin' a. 11am EST, here's the site.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Top it off with me reading the almanac and hey. Though maybe you should get an advance of the new SPECIAL SECRET ALBUM that will be surfacing soon.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

You've got till 11am tomorrow to get me copies of either album. GO!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

The world has lived too long without a Mountain Goats/Momus mash-up.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

No way, man, duet on "Ebony and Ivory."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, this is the thread where we don't listen to Ally because it's 3-5 in the fucking morning.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, sorry I am no longer working my schedule around people who don't even live in the same country as me, I'm a selfish cokewhore bitch.

Allyzay, Monday, 3 May 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I would so stay up till 3am to listen to a selfish cokewhore bitch on the radio.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't get that much in central PA.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 3 May 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

dude I'm gonna start now and I'll stop when I damn well feel, like anyone else is gonna show up, this be the last show of the regular season.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey now, Stripey aka K@ren was looking forward to hearing you tomorrow! I'll pass on the schedule change.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry! I don't think anyone is doing my show tomorrow.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

No worries, I'll make sure she knows!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, I would love to sort it out, but I'm not musical director of WBAR, you are. So sort it out.

I mean, it's not like I'll be up.. at 3am.. on a school night..

Bollocks.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

*refrains from pointing out that it is 3am on a school night and Andrew is awake*

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Good, because that would completely ruin my delicately set-up joke.

Does WBAR still do realaudio? The frontpage only offers WBAR lstener, which sort of hates me.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

??? I dunno what those three listeners they put up are to be honest, there's two different MP3 plus "Ogg Vorbis" or something?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ogg Vorbis is an open source compression algorithm that craps all over MP3, AAC, etc. http://vorbis.com

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

If there's anyone who does listen on RealAudio, what's the URL? Normally I'd just pick it up off Recent Files in RaalPlayer, but 3pm-5pm computer is no longer the same as 3am-5am computer (hooray!)

I'm familiar with ogg vorbis. It's the new Minidisc. Or possibly BetaMax.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually being as it's available for free and only 7 people use it and talk constantly about how great it is, it's more like the new Esperanto.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ogg Vorbis: The International Compression Algorithm of Hope

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, a more pressing question since it involves what I'm playing right now, how exactly DO you pronounce "Royksopp"??

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Poorly (Royk-sop?)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha "They who shall not be named"

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have that "Ass 'n' Titties" song?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

This is from Hackers, whut!?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

no but I could play "I wanna fuck you in the ass"

Allyzay, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no!!! I killed Ally's morning show!!! Oh no!!!

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

1) I am on TONIGHT probably 10pm-12am EST. The website will say I am Trevor. I am not Trevor.
2) I am on FRIDAY 10pm-12am EST. Perhaps I will have a SPECIAL GUEST DJ.
3) I am on MONDAY 8pm-10pm EST. I think I will play ONLY TURBONEGRO (this is not true)
4) I am NOT on TUESDAY 10am-12pm because that time slot is fucking lame.

I am so fucking happy.

Ally, did the station get the "Irish Blood, English Heart" single? Could you play that? Or anything off the "You! Are the Quarry" CD (I'm not sure if they've sent it out yet)?

Kisses,

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)
