Aston Villa v Man City 4-1Liverpool v Blackburn 2-1
Leeds v Leicester 1-0
C. Henry missed penalty 59 mins, Campbell sent off (professional foul) 67 minutes, Gary Neville sent off (two yellows for shouting at the linesman) 87 mins. Final score 2-1 to Arsenal. But, my prediction is C for a missed pen.

pick THREE JOKERS....whichever one is the most accurate i will furthermore double, i just don't care anymore
in addition:
BONUS: GOAL TALLY MATCH (as before, if no. of goals scored matches the total number of goals you predict you will be scored you win that amount in points). Now because this is such a big round and I am desperate to make this as interesting as possible in this final stage, whoever wins here (and it may be more than one person) will have a chance to GAMBLE...details to be announced in the next round

I am happy with the extreme nature of this round (around one third of the entrants will get zero points! The other third, in a double round with three jokers and another bonus and doubling will score huge) as I am in a good to mediocre position and am more keen on the potential gains (could actually move someone into position to challenge James!) than fearing the losses.

Don't worry though, Steve. Much respect for keeping this going all season and updating the tables each week - it must be a pain in the arse sometimes.
― James Ball (James Ball), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)
we'll have to make the most of it and skip to the ULTIMATE FINAL ROUND OF DEATH
Wed May 12 2004 Southampton v Newcastle Sat May 15 2004 Man City v Everton Portsmouth v Middlesbrough Wolves v Tottenham Arsenal v Leicester Aston Villa v Man Utd Blackburn v Birmingham Bolton v Fulham Charlton v Southampton Chelsea v Leeds Liverpool v Newcastle
bonus: pick THREE JOKERS, QUADRUPLE points for the most accurate one - DOUBLE for the other two, PLUS goal tally bonus (automatic, as before) - this time whoever is closest to the actual tally will get the points tho
again sorry for being so wacky with the bonuses at times and stuff - hope people have had fun playing. there should really be a prize of some sort for james who has surely won - i'll see if i can rustle something up (that doesn't cost me anything)
scores from last round to come

In last week's case I was just doing the equivalent of holding the ball up by the corner flag in the last couple of minutes of a match.

I'm nostalgic for the days when Zebedee ruled the roostZebedee - the first master tactician of ILX predictions. Without him I'd be nowhere
thx, guys. for old time's sake, then:
Southampton 0 Newcastle 0 Man City 0 Everton 0Portsmouth 0 Middlesbrough 0 (joker)Wolves 0 Tottenham 0Arsenal 0 Leicester 0Aston Villa 0 Man Utd 0Blackburn 0 Birmingham 0Bolton 0 Fulham 0Charlton 0 Southampton 0Chelsea 0 Leeds 0 (joker)Liverpool 0 Newcastle 0 (joker)
i realise this immediately counts me out for the goal tally bonus, but what the hey - demob happy an' all that.

currently reluctant to do this again as i have been slack the last few months but i have some ideas on how we can make it more fun and worthwhile (COUGH! MONEY! COUGH!) but we'll see.
i am quite keen on doing a Euro 2004 special tho so look out for that in a few weeks, cheers!
― stevem (blueski), Sunday, 16 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)
note my massive century-breaker score stems from the fact that i got closest to the goal tally bonus (just two away) so that gave me an extra 35 most welcome points. once again congrats to james ball, mark c, mark h and martin skidmore who all qualify for the Champions League. Darren will have to settle for a UEFA Cup spot. Also a shout to Ken who racked up quite an impressive score having only taken part for around a third of the season.
