CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be glad to attend, and I'd have thought that my wife to be will too

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah and I are at a wedding in Richmond - apologies :(

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

vicky will be YOUR WIFE by then :)

i was thinking the other day, have you thought about being double-barrelled? "park!n50n-br0wn" has a certain ring to it i think...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't want to tempt fate.

and no chance - there'll be no double barrelledness in my family

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The Ewings will be delighted to attend.

This is also Eurovision night but don't worry, plans have been laid to enjoy both cultural events.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

schtum schtum!!!

don't mention the war eurovision...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

roll out the double-barrel (god...)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It is urgent and key that we are informed of developments re: participating in both cultural events.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

happy anniversary (wareurovision is over)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ken i demand you come as gina g

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

hahah i'll try! i doubt i can really look like her... maybe just a little bit

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

What Sarah said.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming as Dana International.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Crikey. Is there something we should know, Matt?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt CD

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt TV?

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike Teevee?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i can be the bloke from Jemini i suppose....

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant to answer your 'Nigerian Businessman' invitation some time ago, but I must have forgotten. Yes, we would like to come. Arantxa says will there be any girls. I don't know what she's worried about. What time is it? Are you really only thirty? I would have been more condescending had I known.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(Aside) When are you getting married, Chris and Vic?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

fyi PJ - 25th April NYC FAP?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you. It is the day after St George's Day and just four days after Cambridge University Easter Full Term begins.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

yes there will be girls (maybe she's just worried about it being me, you , tim and chris, you know what happened last time ;)).

it'll be early-ish (6 or so) until 11 at the blue posts and then no doubt stumbling on somewhere else spanish/borderline-y.

and yes i am only 30.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

PJ, the wedding itself is on St Georges day, I am wearing a helmet and breastplate to commemorate- and then slaying the mother in law...

JOKING!!!!!!!!

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought St George's Day was the 23rd? or was that the joke?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was the 24th, I was a bad boy scout

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did I think so wrongly?

sorry George

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

you are a bad boy scout...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

will there be a st. george's day parade in NYC??

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yes, rows and rows of accountants and insurance agents walking up Wall street in top hat and tails

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd love to come to this, btw, steve and meg, but my final year review shit is only a few days after.

I will congratulate you, nearer the time.

crosspost, haha, that's what I thought, chris.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, I am officially, looking forward to this.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Wot getting hitched?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The FIFTH! wedding anniversary! And 30TH birthday! ha, old git ;0) I am looking forward to it too!

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

bludy kids ;P

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I would love to come to this, even though I live in a different country and will still be skint in May following ATP... but maybe I will somehow come to this anyway.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

well obv it would be lovely if you did :) maybe you can stow away in YMO'F's coat or simething...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I have this one scheduled in, and will definetely attend. And that's an actual definetely rather than my usual vague sort.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! We checked a couple of weeks ago and the prices of flights were totally this side of reasonable for that weekend. So we just need somewhere cheap to stay (offers & recommendations duly accepted) and me and the mister will be there. Huzzah!

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

(also, blimey, is it five years since Bowlie then?)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

If someone I know well on ILX (and that certainly includes you, Ailsa) needs a place for a night or two, I am happy to put a few people up. I have quite a large flat.

I'll be there, of course!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yes, rows and rows of accountants and insurance agents walking up Wall street in top hat and tails

Also - the Yes car credit woman, a float full of Football League central midfielders with dodgy blonde highlights, Adrian Chiles, some musicians from the 1970's who reckon they 'invented rap' when they did a spoken word interlude on one of their albums, someone saying 'Thank you' sarcastically at a bus driver, a red phone box full of youth TV presenters who won't shut up about how fantastic Beyonce is, Roger Cook, some milk floats, Jimmy Carr, some investigative journalists driving a Nissan Micra with 'JUST RIPPED OFF' written in the back window and some tin cans trailing off the rear bumper, some students watching darts ironically, Terry Wogan, Former Chief Of Police For Greater Manchester John Stalker (with some awnings), a family of six from Cheshunt on a canal boat (featuring decorative scenery from Wolverhampton), a man who has no idea where Lincoln is, Terry Christian, a secondary school teacher trying to explain Much Ado About Nothing/The Hundred Years War/binary notation/buying stamps in France by comparing it to Eminem...

(if it clashes with Eurovision, I doubt I'll be coming, sorry about that)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I am utterly incredulous that anyone would even consider choosing staying in and watching Eurovision over going out and having fun with people. I mean, VIDEO the thing. And then try not to find out who won in a Likely Lads scenario.* I still don't know who won Eurovision last year.

*This may not actually work since you will be with us, and it will be trumpeted from the rooftops within seconds, but that's beside the point.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

50 bonus SADDO points to whoever plumps for Eurovision txt updates by phone

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Ewing - Grande Bretagne - Cinq Mille Pointes

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I see William's been listening to half man half biscuit again

chris (chris), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

(of course BPNS does have a big screen downstairs. whether you can persuade them to put eurovision on is another matter)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:52 (twenty-two years ago)

also, YAY AILSA!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this the same weekend as the TG ATP thing? Cause it really depends on if we get

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh, where did my message go? Is [strike] disabled now? For freaks sake...

But anyway, even if HSA does have to perform, this is an excuse to make him go by himself, cause, you know, I'm really not worried about experimental noise groupies. Seriously.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

strike has been working fine

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, where did the rest of my post go?

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Eurovision isn't so much about the watching as the writing about... in which case videoing might make more sense. Apparently all the acts are shit this year anyway.

It's nowt to do with avoiding REAL LIVE HUMAN BEEENS, though, I'm sure of that much. I might come. But I couldn't say for sure right this moment.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

AAAARRRGGGGHGHGHGHGHGGH!!! how strange!

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

so this FAP is at the same time as eurovision?

since i've only been in the country for two other eurovisions, and one was on my birthday, so i didn't really watch it, i might actually want to see it. such a curious thing!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you think we'll get ANY points this year? Who's our entry? A Fame Academy graduate? Nill Point here we come, second year running...

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I THINK I can come. It will depend if the near-empty coffers can stretch to the fare to London. Hope so!

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The UK entry is sensitive singer-songwriter type James Fox, who ended up 5th or 6th on Fame Academy last year, by virtue of being less entertaining than Alistair Griffin and at least two other people. He's mates with Kevin out of Liberty X, though, so that's alright then. I have not heard his song, but the chances of it being anything other than terrible aren't fantastic.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

JAMES?!??! THEY'RE SENDING JAMES?!?!? They want us to lose, don't they? They should have sent Peter. At least that would have been entertaining, watching him vomit all over everyone's shoes.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
bumppity bump

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry Steve - my feel-terrible rush to book a consolation weekend aways somewhere led to me booking time in Barcelona on the weekend of your party. I'm sure my loss will not spoil your party.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

But you will be enjoying CULTURE and that. Speaking of which, what about the party/Eurovision FITE?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The assembled throng will be entertained by Pete Baran singing Eurovision hits past and present.

This may well be true.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The London Bootleg Orchestra will accompany Mr Barang.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Last years eurovision, I saw the odds on the UK getting zero were 100 to 1, and me having a fairly large amount of spare cash, idly thought to myself "That is SO going to happen".

and then forgot all about it. slap.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Bring a bottle (and another one for Pete)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i will be in wales till the following day :(

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I can imagine Ptee discussing the (un)soundness of Save All Your Kisses For Me with great zeal.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

DO I have any volunteers for skirt wearing for Making Your Mind UP!

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm....think you've pretty well ensured they'll be no skirt-wearers there with that!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this may be unfeasible now as well (money, work, Celtic's last home game of the season). This does not please me greatly, but them's the breaks.

I will probably be trying London more in mid-July though.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

:((((

bah, this wasn't why i revived this thread. aw it is sad that you (M, M and A (and N!)) won't be coming, we will drink in your honour :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, I want to go to this, but far more U&K than Eurovision is RESTORATION 2!!! HSA is very excited about the Radar Sound Mirror Installation thingey, whatever it's called. But of course, we can tape it and come down, since it's so close. :-)

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I just say that i am REALLY disappointed that Mr Skidmore won't be there? I wanted to see the face of the man who received so much of my DINNER MONEY for his PUBLICATIONS during the 1980's...

Does anyone know a Eurovision song that is:

a) a piece of piss to play
b) all right
c) not by Abba?

MJ Hibbett, Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh Aaah Just A Little Bit!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

'One Step Further' by Bardot. (the greatest brit eurovision entry OF ALL TIME.)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Riverdance?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

JtN OTM :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

so this is actually in competition with eurovision? there won't be a tv where we are, with eurovision on in the background?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but this will have AN REAL LIVE POP MUSICIAN playing!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

that Dana International one strikes me as easy to play, the chorus at least, but while not by Abba remains distinctly Bjorn-esque

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the word we are all hoping for here is MEDLEY

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

We could ask them to put Eurovision on downstairs. But this would be a bad thing.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

has anyone ever taped it, watched the voting first and then skipped back to hear the songs?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

the voting's the only good bit anyway!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I know someone who bummed the presenter one year, although not actually at the event. The reason I mentioned this is because the only reason he recognised him was because he'd watched the video so many times. So he's probably watched the voting first and then skipped back to hear the songs.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi MJH! Did you buy the one with a cover by another MJH? FA with a M@rtin H@nd Crisis On Infinite Earths cover? My face is on my profile here, if you are interested.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

the voting's the only good bit anyway!!!

this is not true. there were loads of great tunes last year. next time you meet the Pinefox, remind him about Ruffus.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I know someone who bummed the presenter one year

for a sec i wondered if you meant Terry Wogan, suddenly that new Franz Ferdinand video is more intriguing

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I've booked my flights! nothing in the world can stop me now.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

wahey!!

(or WHOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAHHH! more appropriately :))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

obv.

I must check that my rellies in London are willing to put me up (and put up with me). Otherwise problems ensue.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ooh Aah" - of COURSE! Although is that going to be one of those where everyone knows the chorus but not the verses? i shall INVESTIGATE!

Today i have become an Interweb MEME. It's a bit scary!

MJ Hibbett, Thursday, 6 May 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you buy the one with a cover by another MJH? FA with a M@rtin H@nd Crisis On Infinite Earths cover?

The main one i remember had a lovely bluey and greeny picture by John Ridgway, i think, of a space butterfly or something - i remember it because I was sat reading it just before a History lesson, and an ACTUAL REAL LIVE GIRL looked at me and said "FA?!? What's that? It sounds a bit rude!"

It was very exciting, although less so after I'd explained...

MJ Hibbett, Thursday, 6 May 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there AND SO WILL MY WIFE!!!!

chris (chris), Thursday, 6 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh you guys got married?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there! Just a week to go now!

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow. I am looking forward to the Vicar's presence. I wonder whether he is sorry to miss Eurovision.

Ruffus = 'The 80s Coming Back'?

the finefox, Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

"plans have been laid to enjoy both cultural events."

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds suspicious (therefore, great).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow. I am looking forward to the Vicar's presence. I wonder whether he is sorry to miss Eurovision.

he might be, but as there is no television in Ireland he would have missed it anyway.

Ruffus = 'The 80s Coming Back'?

yes indeed.

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 8 May 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

hey kids, if you want to turn up from kinda 6ish onwards that'll be lovely :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh alright then.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I have booked a flight to come celebrate too. It seemed too good to miss for the sake of paying rent or eating this week. See you Saturday!

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I might come along.

pah

Sean Carter (roc), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG!!!!

LB, DV + YMOF!!!!

dublin is, i think, the only other city supplying visitors for this party (watford and wherever it is mr miller lives not being cities), come on glasgow/edin/new york, try harder ;)

(oh sorry Oxford, you count (mark, i'm assuming yr coming down?))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Where can I get an Israeli tranny costume in London by Saturday?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

matt, what happened to your old one? did you rip it or something?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

just borrow one of my Aunt's old dresses

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 08:17 (twenty-one years ago)

(oh sorry Oxford, you count (mark, i'm assuming yr coming down?))

yes, and maybe Johnney B too.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 14 May 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 14 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 14 May 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i will be there.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 14 May 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy birthday carsmile!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 14 May 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew - see you at the airport.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 14 May 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

last person from dublin to the pub gets a round!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 14 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy birthday/anniversary/etc Carsmile...

Brief hijack to suggest everyone comes to this - FAP London Sat 15th May: afternoon indie larks aplendy with DJ CharlieNo4 and lots of great bands, FOR NOWT - before Stevem/Carsmile's shenanigans...

oh go on!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 14 May 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It is exciting to see (where) the Vicar says to YMOF, see you at the airport (there).

the finefox, Saturday, 15 May 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(eek, very sorry, can't make it now, have fun)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 15 May 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel embarrassed not having recognised DV straight away. he had considerably less hair the last time I met him!

But what a great nite! That MJ Hibbett is so funny! Speshly his cover of Boom Boom Shake the Room.

Like the borderline too.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 16 May 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGH!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 16 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'm dying. But the FAP rocked. MJ Hibbett = BLUDDY GRATE! Also I think I knew half the people in the Borderline last night... where did everyone go at the end?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 16 May 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i went and got a Big Tasty then to some house-party in Finsbury Park, bumping into two people there i know from elsewhere which was the neatness

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 16 May 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

everyone = Matt, stevem, Anna & Toby, by the end. We (me & Emma & Alan) couldn't work out when the Anniversary Couple had left.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 16 May 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

didn't Magnus leave with you as well? i skulked off alone soon after

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 16 May 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but he ran for a bus, leaving us to wait ages for a bus and watch someone get knocked down by a car. Big City Life.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Also can I point out that the plumbing in that pub was so abysmal that when you had it in the right position THE HOT TAP IN THE GENTS MADE A SOUND LIKE A 303! You have no idea how much this exited my drunken self. I was standing there trying to play Higher State Of Consciousness and failing miserably. The old man taking a piss looked on unimpressed.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim Hopkins is on The List, for pointing outclaiming that I look like Rory McGrath.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah! Absolutely cracking night with lovely people and superlative entertainment from Mr. Hibbett. Hey Hey 16K is my new favourite song.

Sorry we wussed out on the Borderline again. We were broken by Oxford St. in the afternoon.

robster (robster), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry borderline peeps, we did kindof just make a break for it abt 1.30ish. the borderline was RUB compared to normal, too many people and too much way-sis...

also, thank you all of you who came, a lovely time was had by all as far as i could tell :) did anyone take any photos?

don't forget mj hibbett stuff for downloading and/or buying can be found at http://www.mjhibbett.com

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Any chance of posting an MJ Hibbett setlist from Saturday, Steve?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

um, let me think:

things will be different (when i am in charge)

billy jones is dead
peterborough all saints wide game team group b
call the lyric police
hey hey 16k
easily impressed
boom! shake the room

i think i've missed a couple...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

From looking at the site, the two you've missed would be Clubbing In The Week and Payday, right?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

matt is right, i only heard about 5 songs at the end, including the two he mentions.

this was good fun, and it was so sweet to hear all about the wedding all those years ago. awwwwww.

although the funniest part for me was when i first got there and the upstairs barstaff had disappeared so i went down to get a drink and the girl was saying to another bartender 'i dunno. it's like FOLK music or something. they're just weird.' which made me giggle.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

hurrah! "ILX officially weird" say canadians...

yes matt those would be the two i missed.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry we didn't make it, Mr and Mrs Carsmile.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear lord this killed me on Sunday, but what a top night eh!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Starry I OWNED you with that last Olé! on Saturday night. I've never seen anyone literally hopping mad before.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

CURSES!!!!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i wondered why you two were wrasslin'

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, you guys were out of control-- actually chasing each other around the bar like tom and jerry or something.

(i think we need to break matt of this ole habit since it seems to have weird results)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't chasing Matt round the bar?! Was I?

Colette - I suffer a lot of domestic oléing, Matt's oléing means noooothing to me - OHHH it means nothing to meee!!! OHHHHHHHH!

Vienetta.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

oleing?

how does this work?

do i, in fact, want to know?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve, you know the Nike fitba advert with Brazil and Portugal, roight?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the two of you came tearing around the corner in a way that had people grabbing their drinks for fear of spillage. but in a funny way.

so what you're saying is that matt keeps trying to engage you and your boy in your own little private games you normally play at home?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

issa telavision cammershul

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Not quite, Matt insults me far less. To recreate the true "At Home With Sarah And Partner" lifestyle, we'd have to gratitously slag off each others sexuality, shout "GOTH" a lot and drink industrial strength Crusha drinks.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

And look at ugly people on telly and shout "YOURS".

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yes i've seen the advert, but i was assuming "oleing" involved nutmegging someone, which seemed a little difficult without a ball.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yes i don't think they have really thought it through either

i'd like to hear more about Sarah and hers at home - or would I??

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god, some weird mix up of the starry/boy matt/stevem couples at home! the mind boggles...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Now we see pervem's true colours.

Yes but oléing is just grabbing one by the back of the neck, looking into your eyes and shouting OLE! And you see when the person who does this to you is your romantic type person you sometimes think, ah this is nice, perhaps we are going to have a nice tender moment there (ie A SNOG) and all I ever sodding get is an olé. I don't know why I put up with it, I really don't.

Other adverts we like include "Maybe because I'm a Londoner" by Capital FM and that Jonny Vaughan.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

And look at ugly people on telly and shout "YOURS". this may well be adopted instead of the "you love her/him" alongside the usual "that's your favourite song/advert/television program" (usually backed up with "in fact, it was your idea, you ARE Phil Collins" etc)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I do not claim that any of our domestic habits are very original!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha that 'YOURS' is great - and reminds me of how when i pass an attractive lady there's a voice in my head yelling 'WOULD!' tho that's not really any good is it?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Other adverts we like include "Maybe because I'm a Londoner" by Capital FM and that Jonny Vaughan.

i will have to set Matt on you again now

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

when i pass an attractive lady there's a voice in my head yelling 'WOULD!'

it's actually yelling 'WOOD'!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

when i pass an attractive lady there's a voice in my head yelling 'WOULD!'

"WOOD!" shurley?

hurrah for the hive mind...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

'YOURS' is so much succint than the 'look, your new boyfriend' which i do. hopefully not so loudly that the ugly person hears me. although maybe they would be flattered?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

'WOOD' is a bit too coarse for my liking (bwahaha)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

so which ugly people on telly are we talking about anyway? come on name names

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This one is good, as it also involves a rude word:

YOURS!

http://www.fyicomminc.com/images/minger.jpg

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

All people on telly are pretty and they all love Mark S. I thought this was a well known fact.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd like to polish his instrument

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

The first ever lesbian marriage in the USA, you say?

YOURS!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

hands up if you like my hair

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I kind of prefer "that's your mum", it has a sort of retro charm.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39551000/jpg/_39551279_michaelmoore_203.jpg

He also likes your hair. He is also yours.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i can have anyone i want

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I am sorry that I made so much noise during MJ Hibbert's excellent set, but I was getting the word out about my Benjy's-related adventure. I then left the microfilmtasty desserts in the pub, bah.

I was very glad to see DV come out to the indie disco, and it will be with a heavy heart that I report him to the Committee for Cultural Realism for responding to Where's Me Jumper? with "What's this, then?"

Colette is also on The List.

Also thanks to Alan + Emma for the place to sleep!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i decided, when we went back on sunday to pick up the PA, that the desserts should be left as a reminder...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

is this a good list for letting you sit at my table at starbucks or a bad list for spreading the word about your MAD BREAKDANCING SKILLZ?!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"letting!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"your!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"table"! No, wait, I've gone mad.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It was my table anyway.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(I'm mostly concerned because at some point I'll attempt The Worm again and it will come off as The Dead Fish)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Go on, show us your worm.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Urgh! Not that worm!

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I do remember the discovery of the night being that if you shaved Charlie No.4, he'd look like Mark C.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that I am advocating doing so, even if it'd be really funnyit is the only scientific way to prove that assertion.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew, I'm warning you, that's fighting talk...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I do remember the discovery of the night being that if you shaved Charlie No.4, he'd look like Mark C.

*cough* Er...whaaaat? Do I have any say in this shaving? I mean, I'm all for a bit of foam/razor action in the privacy of my own bathroom, but in a pub? On a saturday? And purely to make me look like someone else?

Seems a little excessive to me :-(

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Science will not be gainsaid!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

When my head is shaved I look like a gay Nazi alien. Is this the look you were after?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)
