hey i am a little drunk. i work somewhere that serves alcohol. i got off early tonight. i had a couple of beers, and then the person i was drinking with (suddenly a good friend even though i met him yesterday while he was painting chairs for the outdoor patio) instructs the bartender to make us a shot, so we all do a shot of patron, and then we head across the street and, well, wouldnt you know it, the painter knows the bartender and the cooks at this place, so we do another shot, and then head into the kitchen where my drinking buddy instructs the cook to make us something special. while we are waiting, we get beers and then when we finish, the food is ready and we get more beers. then i went to meet tombot for another beer.

total damage: 6 beers, two shots
total damage: $8

anyways, i have forgotten all of my miseries for the time being. i guess the drugs do work!

I have had a simply wonderful day - went up to London and met a wonderful friend...we went to a restaurant called Sequel at the Angel islington for pizza. For reasons I won't go into she had to rucsh off, so I got a bus back to Oxford and went to a gig at the Wheatsheaf pub where i met my former colleague Jessica and lots of other lovely ppl. Ahem. That 'chud' is in fact Admiral James Stockdale, Vietnam POW and Perot's running mate in 1992. He also was our family's across the street neighbor in Coronado for nearly two decades, and is an extremely smart, kind and thoughtful guy. My dad and he walked up to the voting booth in 1992 to vote together, and to this day I have to deal with people who can only remember him as somehow being comical in the 1992 VP debate -- when, in fact, his hearing aid really WAS acting up, and considering he got the hearing loss partially because of his war experience more people should have cut him a lot more slack.
