First thought: am I alone in being reminded of an ILXer a bit by the bald and camp Marco?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Based on the pictures on the website, the following MUST GO:

Kitten
Shell
Stuart

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Kitten"?

"Shell"?

There should be a Big Brother that features a house full of animals and random inanimate objects that you can vote off each week.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Based on the profiles, THEY ALL MUST GO (except Ahmed)! Yikes!

I am distressed that Jason looks old and haggard in his picture yet HE IS ALMOST A YEAR YOUNGER THAN ME.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahmed

Forty four year-old Ahmed is originally from Somalia, but had to flee during the civil war and came to England as an asylum seeker. He is now a British citizen and recently got a law degree. Ahmed is a Muslim and speaks English, Italian, Arabic, Somali and Merkani.

Daniel

Daniel from Hull, manages a lot in his spare time. As well as being a hairdresser, the 30 year-old is also a DJ, sings in an electro-disco band and practises ju-jitsu five times a week. Daniel admits he is out burning his candle at both ends every night (so to speak!).

Emma

One of the youngest housemates, Emma has been fired more times than she can remember and used to be an entertainer in Spain before landing her current job as a legal administrator. But don't be fooled - Emma is a party girl through and through, loves going out and meeting new people.

Jason

Glaswegian Jason is 30 and an air steward. Before flying the friendly skies, Jason worked as a refuse collector and a nude model. He openly confesses to being one of the vainest people you could ever meet and was once crowned "Mr Best Buttocks South Lanarkshire."

Kitten

24-year old Kitten is a human and animal rights activist, and a strict vegetarian. Not only does eating meat anger Kitten but so too does sexism, pornography, homophobia, racism and George Bush. But Kitten loves her cats and has called one of them Puddypuddyquadropodteddyteddyteapot and the other one, Kittikittiquadropodtabbytabbypeaches. Easy for her to say!

Marco

Marco is 21 and a law student and freely describes himself as the 'biggest bitch on the planet' and a 'total s**t stirrer'. When he's not being one of the above he is Vice President of the University Law Society but he says, he has no intention of being a lawyer. Marco is half Italian and an ex Samaritan.

Michelle

23-year old trainee mortgage advisor, Michelle, has a burning ambition - to be a glamour model. Before training for her current job, Michelle worked as a shop assistant, a chambermaid, a Tesco cashier and a make-up artist. Her proudest achievement, however, is losing a lot of weight. Michelle used to be a size 18 but is now a size 10.

Nadia

Nadia is 27 and a Bank Clerk and the eldest of six children. Originally from Portugal her family moved to England eight years ago. In the past Nadia has worked on a perfume counter and managed a children's bookshop. But what Nadia really loves is shopping, going out with friends and walks by the sea. But there won't be any of that for a while.

Shell

History of Art student Shell is 21-years old and a very conscientious student. When not studying, Shell enjoys long walks, architecture and going to art galleries. She is a passionate reader and works part time in a museum. In the past Shell has been a life model and in her spare time now she is training to be a sculptor in her hometown of Glasgow.

Stuart

20-year old Stuart is from Macclesfield and a student studying Psychology. He got 4 As at A Level and was head boy of his school. Ideally, Stuart wants to stay on at university to do a Masters Degree. He and his friends call themselves 'Team Handsome' and he aims to be a millionaire by the age of 25.

Vanessa

Vanessa is 26-years old and living in Leeds. Originally from South Africa, she moved to the UK six years ago. Vanessa is a self-confessed adrenalin junkie and was South African archery champion for two years in a row. She loves rugby and runs for an hour every morning. Now, that's a lot of laps of the garden!

Victor

23-year old Victor is a gap year student from London. Victor claims his nicknames are 'the milkman' because he always delivers, and 'Mr Slick' because he always gets the job done. He describes himself as being like Marmite because people either love him or hate him. Only time will tell.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten and Jason are going to get strangled.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Absolutely disgusting, let's be frank.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Kittikittiquadropodtabbytabbypeaches

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

they are all very annoying so far.

kathryn m (kathryn m), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor is going to get his nuts punched out through the top of his head.

Stuart is going to get his hands chopped off and shoved up his ass.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that a song, Dan?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

This is kinda unwatchable.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"Kitten is a screaming tool whose every action shouts 'BEAT ME! BEAT ME! SPIT GUM IN MY HAIR! I AM LOATHESOME AND HORRID!' to the world. Watch her be hyper-defensive and annoying, then write passive-aggressive shit in her unicorn-and-rainbow-covered Trapper Keeper."

(xpost, NO BUT IT SHOULD BE)

Mr. Snap Judgements (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(I am somewhat amazed at how much rage Kitten's profile is inspiring in me. It's like she's a perfect distillation of twee hell.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

She'd fit in great in some parts of ILX!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe the SPOILERS in this thread! Shame on you!! We're watching this in real time, yo!

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, so as well as going for added 'sex', they would also appear to be going for added 'multiple homicide'.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin, yes, you are alone in that thought. Whoever could you mean?

('sfunny, I told people in my first ever job that my name was Marco - I could bear it only two weeks, then I begged them to call me Mark. Straightest ILXor evah!)

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure they have deliberately chosen very annoying and incompatible people. The fact that they started with the world's second campest bald half-Italian and someone who states that he hates all homosexuals may be a clue to this.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I be the first person to say BIG BROTHER HAS JUMPED THE SHARK? Thxbye

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

But Kitten loves her cats and has called one of them Puddypuddyquadropodteddyteddyteapot and the other one, Kittikittiquadropodtabbytabbypeaches.

I think even the ILX tweefia would beat the shit out of this girl.

(xpost Mark, this is all on the BBC4 webiste! Is it really a spoiler if it the information has already been released?)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I am torn between thinking it will be great and thinking it will be unwatchable.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

But I think it won't be dull, so that is surely a good thing.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

(haha who is the homophobe???) (I bet it's Jason)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahmed.

Reading the profiles, why has a 'passionate reader' volunteered to go without books for up to ten weeks? I coudn't go without for a day, I don't think.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, I don't care!! I want to WATCH the PROGRAMME on TELEVISION, okay??

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, here is Kitten: she doesn't seem at all twee at first sight here.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Also - BBC4 and Channel 4 not the same thing, not by quite some way.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh. Lesbians.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

BBC 4 is currently showing a documentary about John Martyn, you see.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I should have KNOWN it was Ahmed! He's the only one besides Nadia who's profile and/or name hasn't rung alarm bells. So I now expect Nadia to turn out to be a cannibal.

(xpost: WELL OKAY!!!!!)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

JUMPED THE SHARK. Martin, worst series ever. You need quiet, ordinary people with hidden depths. Not this shower.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, btw, you can delete the "spoilers" bit of the title as soon as they're all in, i.e. in about 20 minutes.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh. A slag.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

"This is the thread where Dan wishes he could move to the UK solely to watch Big Brother."

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the thread where Mark admits that Shell is exactly the kind of person he's grown up with.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread has room enough to hold just about all of us.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark, I've a feeling it's premature to assume these people have no hidden depths - I'm very doubtful about the idea that quiet people are deeper anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I think we're talking "hidden depths" in terms of "wow, I never thought he/she could sink so low!".

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh. A tranny.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

NB I SAID THAT BEFORE SHE SAID SHE'D HAD A SEX CHANGE I ROOL SUCKAHS

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

They let Tania back in???

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect you weren't the only one to guess, Mark - I thought so too.

Dan, all housemates now in, so you can remove the spoilers warning.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

That was fun. Shame about the next ten weeks.

Shell must win!

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect that the introductions are going to be the most fun part of the whole series.

Is there a minority group they DIDN'T get in there?

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I missed any disabilities.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Marco falls under the so-camp-he's-disabled category. I couldn't be in a room with him for more than 10 seconds without snapping!

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

BARRY MOUSSAKA!

chris (chris), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

thankyou Tim, yes, Barry Moussaka must win

chris (chris), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i want to fucking kill all of them apart from shell

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Barry in 'supporting the posh bird' shocker. I'm going for bigoted asylum seeker (who looks like another Ilxer painted brown) to be evicted first.

They are all obnoxious twats = best Big Bruv ever, obviously!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave OTM!

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

anyway, yes, BARRY MOUSSAKA!!

chris (chris), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's funny once, it's funny all the time.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma must win - good quality nothern bird, sod the snobs

chris (chris), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Barry, repetition is the key to good comedy remember

chris (chris), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

well i'm not saying i like her or anything, but she seemed quite sweet and didn't make me want to punch anything.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

first six words uttered in the big brother house this year?

OMG! WTF!

Marco looks like The Hood from Thunderbirds.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Shell's just so nice, though I suspect that she's not as sweet and innocent as the "my favourite pastime is wandering around admiring architecture" thing would have us believe.

I want Nadia to pull the horrid, horrid stripper... before revealing all.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

What is there to reveal? She's had the op.

NB you could pretty much define my ideal type as 'she's not as sweet and innocent as the "my favourite pastime is wandering around admiring architecture" thing would have us believe'.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

This seems to be a pretty explosive mix, I thought Kitten was quite cool when she did her Johnny Rotten bit. But yes, she probably will turn out to be very irritating.

holojames (holojames), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the bandanas worry me also.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant 'reveal all' figuratively!

Kitten would be a lot more irritating if there weren't so many other awful, awful people in there with her... as it is, she just thinks she's a lot more provocative and radical than she actually is.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the two ostensible 'foreigners' seems to be in there to provoke some reaction in these immigration fearing times. or maybe i just watched that awful BNP broadcast on BBC1 a bit too intently.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Daniel is my mum's hairdresser!

Charles Dexter (Holey), Saturday, 29 May 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm, I'd say that I Emma and Shell are the only ones I didn't really dislike. I'd like to stop watching, but I won't.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 May 2004 06:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, Ahmed was okay, but I think he'll go early, probably for the sake of his sanity.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 May 2004 07:17 (twenty-one years ago)

There will be arguements, flirtations, tears, it's all so predictable and boring.

The best in big bro ever was when the guy from South Africa walked into the camera, and Gos was all like "are you okay?", and then when Gos and the SA dude were swopping t-shirts.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 May 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

We were watching it in the pub last night without sound, plus I was a little piddly so don't remember too much even of what was on when I got home...

but I do remember we were trying to predict the order of people that would hug the new entrants - I won the last entrant with a successful woman-poof-thong combo. I seem to recall Marco and Kitten (now I know what their names are) bugged the absolute shit out of me last night, no doubt with good reason.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 29 May 2004 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate that one of them is called Kitten.

now i'll look dumb.

g-kit (g-kit), Saturday, 29 May 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, poor g-kit.

they had a very loud bell thing going off at 9.30 this morning until they all got up, hopefully this won't happen every day as early morning pottering/nattering between a couple of early risers is always one of my favourite bits...

watching the stream late last night, jason actually seems like he'll be OK, the thong is just a one-off "look at me" type gesture i think...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Saturday, 29 May 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

unless Jason is one who loses today's test! Loser doesn't get there suit case.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 29 May 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

well quite, although it's not a test per se, the housemates are nominating one person to not get their bag and the one with the most votes doesn't, so i'd be surprised if they vote for Jay as i doubt they want to be confronted by his thong every morning for the next x weeks...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Saturday, 29 May 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't wait for Kitten to be evicted - she'd probably (brilliantly) refuse to leave the house, or petulantly refuse to answer Davina's inane questions and spit at the rent-a-mob outside shouting "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"

Forgive the tastelessness of this, but I'd quite like them to parachute in and rescue Shell (because she seems very nice) and then pump Zyklon-B into the house.

Ben Mott (Ben Mott), Saturday, 29 May 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

This lot are just going to annoy me. Kitten reminds me of Pete Libertine, or that 'indie kid' from Fame Academy.

I'm just glad I haven't got a TV in my flat.. so I'll be able to avoid this for the next few weeks at least.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 29 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor must win. Perhaps.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I tuned in and saw two hot blonde girls. Hopefully we'll see some nudity then.

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I like almost all of them. Emma and Stuart are the only ones who annoy me. And Barry could get a bit tiresome.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I think my favourite so far is Jason. Mr Best Buttocks Lanarkshire - you have to admire that.

Ahmed looked pretty terrified last night, though he showed a lot of tolerance for Emma's 'spiritualist' drivel. "I know all about Muslims, Allah and all that".

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

kitten's great wtf

prima fassy (mwah), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahmed looked pretty terrified last night, though he showed a lot of tolerance for Emma's 'spiritualist' drivel. "I know all about Muslims, Allah and all that".

no mate.. it was worse: "I know everything about Muslims"

don (don), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Did Kitten sleep on her own in The Shagging Room?

Sorry, Mark is talking bollocks - nice normal people with hidden depths = gigantic yawnfest. I'm sick of this all this twee bullshit - I want blood, confrontation and psychological torture. This is what I hoped the first series of BB would be like. Who is the one with the bandana? HE MUST GO.

Also - BARRY MOUSSAKA! BEST BIG BROTHER EVER!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt DC, we'll see who's proved right. I'm amazed you think the schlock factor will last beyond a couple of weeks. After 10 we'll be sick to death of the superficial twats. There'll be nothing left to like, nothing left to discover.

Markelby (Mark C), Saturday, 29 May 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

TS: normal people discovering hidden depths vs 'characters' driven through confinement to discover hidden normalcy!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 29 May 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hoping they discover Stuart's still-pumping entrails spread from the patio to the bedroom.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

(I am somewhat amazed at how much rage Kitten's profile is inspiring in me. It's like she's a perfect distillation of twee hell.)

having watched it, i can only say that the reality would be much more enraging. kitten's profile makes her sound quite lovely.

she reminds me of someone (other than tracy thorn, that is) - a gay rights activist from the 1980s who made a name for being obnoxious.

no, it wasn't peter tatchell.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the next big brother should be OAPs only.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I want Nadia to pull the horrid, horrid stripper... before revealing all.

I'm not sure that she's his type. Too many female hormones.
He said something like...'I've slept with over 250 people'
Note 'people', where you'd expect a heterosexual male to say 'women'. Also, a fair amount of eye-contact with handsome-but-fucking-obnoxious posh boy and very little with the women.

I may be wrong. I probably will.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw the programme last night, and I didn't really like it.

I can see the way that BB confects itself as an Event - big crowds, live TV, dodgy mics, etc - that's OK. And I don't mind, anymore, the way it seems to map or shadow the sunned and shaded days.

But I didn't like the intake of people to the house. Some of the women were attractive enough, but only one of the males halfway matched that. That's a problem.

There is an odd 'overbalance' (? I mean, vs the general population) of gay people -- which is fine in that I have always wanted more gay people to be on TV etc etc blah, but C4 seem to be using them to creat a Weird Space. I am not sure I expressing this well.

Ahmed strongly reminds me of Mark S.

The first gay fellow, Marco, is NOT like Markelby. He is intensely annoying, to an almost inhuman degree, I think.

The lesbian - I liked her sailor suit - seemed to me oddly a 90S THROWBACK: it felt like something off THE WORD which would SHOCK PEOPLE, and TERRY CHRISTIAN would have to grin Ey! Calm down everyone! and wonder what was going on. Maybe it's The 90s Revival.

In general, not enough likeable people for me to like it much. Like Markelby, I thought 'Shell' was OK, though I don't love her name.

the pinefox, Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"The first gay fellow, Marco, is NOT like Markelby. He is intensely annoying"

You might have to decode that one for me. (Only joking, Barry!)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

The lesbian - I liked her sailor suit - seemed to me oddly a 90S THROWBACK: it felt like something off THE WORD which would SHOCK PEOPLE

Mmm yes. That's her problem in a nutshell, she thinks she's a lot more provocative and radical than she in fact is. That "I'm not going into the house until I've kissed my GIRLfriend with TONGUES on LIVE TV" thing... no, dear, it is not shocking it is slightly tiresome. Having said that she's certainly a contrast to the majority of past BB people, and is nowhere near as annoying as Stuart or Marco, and I'd like her to stay in there for a while.

Vanessa is beautiful.

Stuart must die... going on about how you're the most intelligent person ever because you got four A's at A-level, wtf? That hardly marks you out as anything special, and you still have crap hair.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The girls >>>>>>> the boys, too... of the boys only Daniel is remotely tolerable, while I don't think any of the girls piss me off too much at all (oh apart from the one who wants to be a glamour model, but she's just a little dull).

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Why would you be so utterly bored as to watch this show? It's the utter dregs of television. I find Big Brother unwatchable, every year (mild exception was the first - for about two weeks and then they kicked out Nick and I never tuned in again). Kate Lawler was kinda hot, but the promise of sex and nudity is never fulfilled and you're left with boring, media whore, starfuckers.inc types sitting around hoping to become famous and chatting about their monotonous lives. Christ, if you're THAT desperate for fame fucking get implants, die your hair blonde, wear revealing clothes and knock on the doors of a few film or television companies... they'll take you on at the front desk level at least. Knowledge or intelligence is optional.

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"Knowledge or intelligence is optional. "

That could be your motto.

don (don), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHAHA, you so funny.

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't look back in anger, Calum.

don (don), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I dislike Daniel. I am singularly ill-disposed to anyone whose opening shot is "I am an enigma."

Ben Mott (Ben Mott), Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm yes. That's her problem in a nutshell, she thinks she's a lot more provocative and radical than she in fact is. That "I'm not going into the house until I've kissed my GIRLfriend with TONGUES on LIVE TV" thing... no, dear, it is not shocking it is slightly tiresome.

That and the fact that Davina picked up on her 'looking for somebody' thing almost straight away leads me to believe that she's a plant. Or the contestants are told to do stuff to make it more interesting, more 'water cooler'. Like that bloke who wore a thong and nowt else.

Some of the contestants use fake names, right? Wasn't Nasty Nick's real name James, or something?

And I like the way how they couldn't even find an English transsexual willing to go on the show, so they had to use a Portuguese woman.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 29 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm pretty certain nick was/is his real name, still no steves in the house ever though...

sissy's name wasn't sissy though...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Saturday, 29 May 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten kissing her girlfriend was not only annoying but disgusting. Who on earth kisses like that, with their mouths open as wide as they'll go?

No 1 - A gay man who hates asylum seekers.
No 2 - An asylum seeker who hates gays.

Yes, we see where this is going.

Favourite quote so far - "I would rather sleep on the floor than in a bed with a gay man" - Ahmed. Hahaha.

Ally C (Ally C), Saturday, 29 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt DC, we'll see who's proved right. I'm amazed you think the schlock factor will last beyond a couple of weeks. After 10 we'll be sick to death of the superficial twats. There'll be nothing left to like, nothing left to discover.

How do you know this? What possible evidence was on offer last night to prove that these people are any more or less superficial than any of the former housemates?

I think the thing I like about the first night of BB is that we all like to pretend we don't make instantaneous snap judgements about people, but evidently we do - cf. Mark's presumption that they're all going to be shallow superficial twats apart from the one or two who are a bit like him, or people he likes, because these are the only people who are allowed to be 'normal'.

Of course, they could be superficial shallow twats - they're on reality TV so I'd be surprised if they weren't. But then watching Jade was far more entertaining and interesting than watching Nush or Johnny or Dean or any of the 'everyman' housemates.

I'm especially interested in how Ahmed will be received both by the housemates and the press - first evictee I reckon although I wish they hadn't trailed the "LOOK, HE'S A HOMOPHOBE!" so much on the first night.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 29 May 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmmm last time the normal people revealed that they had NO hidden depths.

don (don), Saturday, 29 May 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not sure that I have hidden depths. They're a funny old business, hidden depths.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely the fact that these people seem to have been selected to be so obviously clashing makes them all the more likely to wind up havign hidden depths after all? Though presumably Channel 4 hopes not.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

these are the worst people I've ever seen.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten possibly the worst of them all. I have to say I'm unsure any contestant in BB has ever so instantly made themselves look like an idiot.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

This is why it's such a shame I never got accepted.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

James, I'm glad somebody else spotted Davina's commentary on Kitten's snogging/v-flicking being half a second ahead of her actually doing anyting "oh, she's going to go wild now..." etc. That was obviously a set up. Also, Ally C spot on about the kisses being yuck - we watched it separately and only discussed this about 5 minutes ago. It reminded me of Todd and Cody's first kiss in Neighbours - for nobody but the cameras, all mechanical jaw and zero passion. I think Kitten listens to Le Tigre.

Marco reminds me of that one in the Salon. I note they've found somebody who says "Says OH MY GOD!" more than Helen. Needs punching.

I like Dan. It might just be the tallness though. And I like Emma - I think I'd get along OK with her.

And I think it's interesting that they put a homophobic muslim asylum seeker in the house, what with the papers being full of asylum seeker and islamic fundamentalist stories for the last couple of years. I wonder if it's some kind of a response to Christian anti-gay Cameron winning - do they need to make sure the homophobe can't possibly win this year?

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know why Kitten inspires such antipathy, she's not that bad! You all seriously think she's worse than STUART?! And the thong man? And bloody Marco, and Victor?

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

VICTOR MUST WIN.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

If only because he looks like he says stuff like "Nah. Nah. Nah mate, ain't 'appenin'. It ain't 'appenin', mate." regularly.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

To save headline writers having to think of captions?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like Victor. I don't like men who think they're alpha males when they're not. Stupid cunt.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

But he calls himself The Milkman because he always delivers! And he obviously sells knocked off sports gear down the market as well.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

Kitten just reminds me of all those annoying LeTigre fans I saw at ATP. They all think they're fighting for something, when in fact, they're more likely to win what ever they're fighting for if they aren't so annoying.

and they all look the same.. so they aren't being different at all.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor's voice is quite grimey.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

But he calls himself The Milkman because he always delivers! And he obviously sells knocked off sports gear down the market as well.

Yeah. These are bad things, Dom. He thinks he's funny when he's not, and I don't like that either.

Jellybean otm about Kitten but again - not as bad as some of these other people!

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

You see? It is PROMPTING DEBATE = MUST-SEE TELEVISION = WATERCOOLER MOMENT = PAUL ROSS = THE HAMILTONS = ARRRRRGH

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

She's worse than all the others because she thinks she's better.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I think if I actually watched this again I'd have no desire to ever talk about it!

(xpost - so does Victor, and Stuart and and and... they all have ego)

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Jason thinks he's Chris Pontius but he's really Bam Margera.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Not in the same way, I don't think Victor or Stuart think they are intellectual or making some kind of grand statement. Also as annoying as they can be they aren't self righteous.

She really is terrible, like the worst people at college multiplied by 1000.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

And she will RELISH the role of SPOKESPERSON FOR LIBERAL VALUES AND MORAL OUTRAGE!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

in between endless episodes of friends no doubt.

xp

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

She really is terrible, like the worst people at college multiplied by 1000

Yes, you're right, she's like every cliché about the student activist rolled into one person. But still, she doesn't grate on me like those faux-alpha males do. She's annoying, but her antics might be quite entertaining, and she'll piss everyone else in the house off.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess it's horses for courses, she seems like one of those people who would not have a personality if others were not misogynist/racist/sexist. Maybe I'm judging too early, the guy in the thong really is an idiot too, but he was more tragic to me, saying he'd won the best looking male competition 6 years ago or something. What a desperate clapped out tart.

He must have felt so embarassed by the end, having to meet everybody for the first time wearing nothung but a thong!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

er, nothing, not NOTHUNG

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Everything you're saying about her is right, it's just that some of the others - like the leathery old muscle man - are worse, much worse.

Unfortunately, I don't think he was embarrassed. I think he thought he looked good.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagine the two of them will have some massive arguments, though he strikes me as the kind of guy who would be too stupid to do anything other than agree with her without quite understanding her. I hope so I can imagine this would make anyone go mental.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't see last night's show, but based on this thread, what I've read in the papers, and the short clip they've just showed of Kitten's first day, I think she seems like a total show-off who is all shouting and "look at me" presence with no opinions or intelligence to back it up, and therefore the kind of person I would want to kick in the face.

She really is terrible, like the worst people at college multiplied by 1000.

Ronan totally and utterly OTM.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma seems quite stupid based on current diary room antics.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I fear that Kitten may be the first to go, judging by those odds above, so she won't have time to set up any long-running hostilities... which she would probably do with everyone except the other vegetarian.

Why is Stuart so favoured to win? He's easily the most cuntish of the lot, easily. For fuck's sake he went on about how he was without a doubt the most intelligent candidate because he got GOOD A-LEVELS!

total show-off who is all shouting and "look at me" presence with no opinions or intelligence to back it up, and therefore the kind of person I would want to kick in the face.

Yes... like Victor, and Stuart, and Vanessa...

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma's this year's Helen/Jade figure of fun, isn't she? I feel a bit sorry for her, actually... she seemed quite vulnerable and naive.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but Kitten evidently thinks she's, like, a voice of reason, or a spokesperson for a generation, or better than everyone else, or something like that (a trait not uncommon amongst certain members of ILX). Massively unjustified self-belief based on YOUR OWN OPINION = total fucking dud.

(xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I love that Ailsa is the most vitriolic of anyone about Kitten, despite not having seen the show!

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

So is Kitten good annoying or just annoying annoying?

Anyway, I've changed my mind, Emma must go instead.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seen the clip of her telling Big Brother off for being authoritative, and she's in the huff in the pool not answering the call to the diary room. She's a silly cow.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently Kitten's being all sullen and glaring at the wall while everyone tells jokes. Actually, her humourlessness is very very DUD indeed. I only want her in there to start fights, and she won't accomplish that by sulking.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, Stuart must go first. Puncture that unjustified air of superiority, and get that hair off my TV.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

He reminds me of Tim Sherwood.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

But he calls himself The Milkman because he always delivers! And he obviously sells knocked off sports gear down the market as well.

Rubbish! Victor obviously went to the same stage-school as Big Brovaz.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Ultimate diss - "I'm going to choose Kitten because I think she's low maintenance anyway"

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

What the fuck are they all staring at in the bottom left corner of the screen in the diary room? Can they see themselves on camera?

Was this explained? It's making them all look half bored, half distracted.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuart is SO FUCKING SLOW! I mean, jaysus.

Haha - everyone hates Kitten. She will be in there till the bitter end, nominated week after week.

I like Victor. "How bad is this? First Bryan McFadden leaves Westlife, then..."

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a board down there with photos of all the contestants in case any of them (like Ahmed) are that stupid they can't remember who any of the contestants actually are.

(x post)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

So far, I kind of like Victor. Does this put me in a very small minority?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I just watched Victor's reasons for nominating Kitten. God he's awful, and very very stupid.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

You're not on my side, Ailsa. Mental pizza WTF?

Noted: World's Most Intelligent fails to grasp the concept of "will not get their suitcase" for several minutes. Is also wearing alice band.

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

By "kind of like", obviously I mean "don't dislike as much as the others". I still think he has shown some twattish qualities, but at least has displayed a sense of humour. And isn't Stuart.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

90% of what Victor says, you go "er... eh? what?", then you realise it was meant to be a joke and your heart sinks at the sheer, leaden lack of humour.

TS: Kitten's humourlessness vs Victor's non-humourous 'humour'

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

My god Digital Spy's forums are full of a load of homophobic racist cunts. And yet I'm still going to be on there for the next 40 days lurking.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten: "maybe I kind of shove opinions down people's throats"

Really? No-one's noticed...

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

MENTALLY ILL LESBIAN MUST STAY.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha Davina HATES Kitten

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the tin foil in her suitcase was for smack until Davina explained it.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

The Kitten-Ahmed hug lasted for an eternity. The mind boggles.

Also, great way to get round the possibility of someone really entertaining getting evicted first (i.e. Kitten).

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Nadia going to wear four inch heels the whole time?

Nice to see they haven't changed the format wrt shite phone advert sandwiches.

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The Kitten-Ahmed hug lasted for an eternity. The mind boggles.

that was pretty creepy actually. i dislike him most i think, victor second.

James Mitchell everyone was looking at the bottom corner of the room just cos they were looking at the board with the housemates pictures on it.

So much for stuart being intelligent, but at least he is fairly nice to look at unlike all the other males.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

stuart an utter idiot yes. "i am nerdy and intelligent, this makes me cool". right.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

but at least he is fairly nice to look at unlike all the other males

b-b-b-but the HAIR! It is horrible.

Most Hated: Stuart, Victor, Marco. In that order. Everyone else is at least vaguely tolerable, though I haven't seen any of Ahmed's bits apart from the creepy hug.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it on tonight?

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

It was, don't know if it still is, caught bits here and there when I walked through the living room.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see Ahmed's bits.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

he'd like you because your name is easily spelled.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

haha!

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently at least one of the housemates has already seen Ahmed's bits. I predict he will decide The Gays are alright by the time he leaves the house, if he's aloud to stay that long.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

haha!

my friend knows shell. I recognise her.

I'm not sure about mr. intelligent.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

a friend of mine told all of our social circle that a guy we know called D*n Ross was going to be on BB this year, and many of them believed him and texted D*n to wish him luck and also told everyone around Malahide. I kept hearing the story back from other people. One of my friends found out cos his mum told him. hahaha.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel a bit sad that my two current faves have the longest odds against them to win. KITTEN MUST STAY - she appears to genuinely believe that she can change the plight of the poor and oppressed in the world by appearing on a game show. perhaps she is under the impression that she's the first person ever to attempt a political rant on prime-time television. watching her tonight was fascinating. like every other human being, she wants to be liked - the struggle between this and her yearning to set the world the way she would like it will make for an interesting spectacle. as will the fact, slowly dawning, that she's every bit as bigoted, in her own way, as everyone else in the house. expect a fair bit of self-realisation from this contestant, which will make compulsive, if rather painful, viewing.

nadia seems kind of cool. i don't know why there are such long odds against her. is it just because she has had a sex-change? will that make much of a difference as far as voting goes?

okay, so who is your prediction for first out? obviously, it could be kitten. channel four could very easily edit this the way they did with alison in series three so that she's booted out if she pisses them off. but i hope they don't. i think the show would lose the most interesting (albeit not in the way she thinks she is interesting) contestant. my money is actually on whoever comes up against her for eviction next week. on the current standing that looks to be either michelle or victor. davina said they had some dastardly plan involving the evictee getting their own back on the occupants of the house. with that in mind, i think they might fix it as far as they can so its victor. he seems the most vindictive so far. kitten wouldn't participate in such a scheme. unless she could make a speech about lesbianism first.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Most Hated: Stuart, Victor, Marco. In that order. Everyone else is at least vaguely tolerable

i'm with you on that.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I genuinely thought Kitten was on the verge of tears at times in the diary room after she'd been told of her nomination - she kept pressing her lips together in a really odd kind of way, all the while saying "I don't give a shit". I suspect she's had a lot of practice at that.

The first 'eviction' isn't up to the public... Davina's explanation was rather garbled (quelle surprise) but I gather that it's just the housemates voting.

I'm intrigued by Kitten's "I'm not playing the same game as them" remark - obv she thinks she's playing a political game, but I'm not sure if she's even formulated it yet! She said she was trying to organise the others into a 'revolution'!

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

(note: thus far, Kitten is the only person about whom there is anything to say apart from "(s)he's a boring cunt" - love her or hate her, she really is unlike anyone who's been in there before)

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

They're all sort of unlike anyone else are they?

We're all different, on planet earth!!! seriously though she's a bit like the Irish nun.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Crossed with Nichola?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

and she looks like brian dowling

don (don), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I am glad there are no Irish on it this year.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate those bastards.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't Anna Nolan President of Ireland now?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 29 May 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope not.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 29 May 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

These big brother threads are always weirdly fascinating -- probably more interesting than watching the show itself.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Sunday, 30 May 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor is hideous. He's incredibly stupid, seems to have one topic of conversation (his penis), never takes off that stupid hat, thinks he looks great although he looks like a fat woman, and has already PRACTICALLY ASSAULTED Michelle. He should be taken from the house and arrested.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 30 May 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Interesting thought: what would happen if one of the women requested Victor's removal on harassment grounds?

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 30 May 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Running Totals -

MUST GO: Victor (twat); Stuart (after a few more weeks of humiliation); Vanessa (wasn't her Kitten-must-go reason so business-school??); Nadia or Marco (one purveyor of studied shrillness quite enough)

BOTHERD: Emma (improving); Ahmed (way too touchy-feely); Michelle (totally anonymous so far); other one of Nadia or Marco.

MUST WIN: Kitten or Dan or Jason or Shell I suppose but only if her flock of sheep are waiting for her outside.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Sunday, 30 May 2004 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

What was Vanessa's reason for nominating Kitten?

(Did anyone NOT nominate Kitten?)

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 30 May 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

El Diablo OTM!

This year, I think I'm free of the desire to watch it.

You can't decide who is awful, coz from the start they all seemed fairly awful. It's a back to front BB, and you have to watch it to find out who's not so awful, which I don't think I can ber bothered with.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 30 May 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

anyway, good to see tico posting again. BB is useful for something.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 30 May 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

looking at the TV when the diary room results in strobing and floating blue crosses in front of your eyes when you look away... Just me?

Thankyou Jel. I'm only on this thread though. I'm boycotting ILM forever as there should have been five separate threads on the new Girls Alound single by now and instead there's just Calum having a wank.

Vanessa said something like "Kitten's attitude won't maximise her efficiency"!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Sunday, 30 May 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Good lord. Vanessa's the one who's good at archery, right?

I would've started a Girls Aloud thread had I heard it, but I missed the CD:UK premiere cos I was watching tennis :(

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 30 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

And your first tabloid BB exclusive: Vanessa had a sex with Alan Smith.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

who?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Manchester United and England striker.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that all they can dig up? That's not very exciting at all.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Salomon Olembe, then maybe we'd be talking. But Smith? Pffft.

The new Girls Aloud single is quite good, yes.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Me on Kittengate, at Do You See?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I genuinely thought Kitten was on the verge of tears at times in the diary room after she'd been told of her nomination - she kept pressing her lips together in a really odd kind of way, all the while saying "I don't give a shit". I suspect she's had a lot of practice at that.

taking life that seriously must be very stressful for her. she cares - possibly more about issues than people, but she cares, and she obviously doesn't see why she should be so unlikeable.
if she stays there long enough, she's going to learn. i think we'll see that tight-lipped expression again.

its a shame that the housemates get to vote somebody out, rather than the viewers. i wonder if that has been devised to get rid of her?

I'm intrigued by Kitten's "I'm not playing the same game as them" remark - obv she thinks she's playing a political game, but I'm not sure if she's even formulated it yet! She said she was trying to organise the others into a 'revolution'!

bless her..
and, appearing on a programme called 'big brother' and then getting angry because you're told what to do... there's a certain logical flaw there somewhere. or perhaps she hasn't read her orwell. minus five red stars for that one, dear.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Me on Kittengate, at Do You See?

good article, that.

you're right about davina. i remember watching it and thinking 'blimey, davina can't stand her' and the wondering if that wasn't some strange sort of endorsement.

'surprisingly feminine' comment spot on, too. the most shocking part was showing kitten's personal photographs on live television. i think that might have been the moment davina got a whisper in her ear.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

N, I don't know if you've already worked this out, but they're repeating Friday nights BBLB at the moment and the show itself afterwards at 1.50pm.

Madchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Enjoyed that article a lot. Davina gets more irritating every year, even without the sour gloating about Kitten - she's so loud and hectoring.

and, appearing on a programme called 'big brother' and then getting angry because you're told what to do... there's a certain logical flaw there somewhere.

Yes, it was slightly embarrassing for her. Also, she's very odd in that she appears to only ever think in macro terms - all her Issues, and Campaigns, and how bad 'Society' is - whereas BB has traditionally been about micro issues, behavioural nuances and social interaction and such. I don't get the impression that Kitten has ever concerned herself with those. When she was talking about 'bonding' with the others, she genuinely thought she'd bond over politics or revolution or vegetarianism or something.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 30 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

This snippet from the end of the latest Holy Moly mail-out could make things more interesting:

Various tabloids have today revealed details about this years inhabitants of the Big Brother house. We have a wannabe Page 3 girl, a gay man who only fancies straight menzzzzzzz...

One thing they won't be able to tell you though, is which one of them is a senior member of the Holy Moly collective. If you can spot the clues on next Friday's show, you win a shirt. Incidentally, the only communication device we could think of was a fairly mind-numbing code based on what colour clothes he/she is wearing...

Ideas on who this could be? I reckon it's either Dan or Stuart, if this is true at all.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten is a young person who hasn't really understood how politics works on any level terribly well yet. Her sulkiness about entering a game where she knows the rules, then complaining that there are rules, is very silly. If she were a bit smarter, with the same attitudes, or if she becomes cannier (if given time), she could achieve something there that might be interesting and worthwhile, but I don't think she will be there long enough.

I don't really dislike any of them much so far. Some are one-dimensional at the moment (and may not have much beyond that, I don't know), and I haven't watched a huge amount so I'm probably missing some good reasons to despise some of them. Stuart's arrogance about his intelligence is so distant from his dim and slow comprehension of the suitcase game that he amuses me so far. I like Emma, and am predictably well disposed to the arty one.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah shell was cool - favourite song "Back in Black"!!!!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ideas on who this could be? I reckon it's either Dan or Stuart, if this is true at all.

The first thing I said when I saw Dan was "I bet he's the Holy Moly person". The only way it could be any of the others is if this person is very good at assuming a persona.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

why whats a holy moly person? i had a look at the site, is a holy moly person just someone who uses that site?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

and does that define your entire persona?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten has a Gaydar profile, unsurprisingly.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

My mother constantly tells me that she can immediately spot transsexuals because "they all look like freaks". Finally, I have a chance to test her!

(although she could well point out "but they're all freaks anyway!")

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 30 May 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan's got to be the Holy Moly guy. Holy Moly is like Popbitch, but founded by slightly older ex-Emap folks out of hours, only with a private message board that cannot be read on the normal Interweb, and he is absolutely the right kind of intimidating butch fashion queen NagNagNag clubber to be one of their old-skool posters. He will tell Marco to stop thieving everyone's oxygen at some point.

Kitten looks like Tracey Thorn but eh, the pointless intransigence? I like her a lot better than Vanessa, who reminds me of all those power-bimbo Antipodean girls you only ever meet when looking at wrong flatshares, who've come to work in the City and who take great pains to tell you that they're a young professional yada yada yada oh shut up and find a fund manager to marry or something, bitch? Just on body language and the like I see a possibly racist queen bee.

suzy (suzy), Sunday, 30 May 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The Sunday Mail is running a story about how Jason might be the long lost son some woman gave up for adoption 30 years ago. A nice lady was trying to push copies of the paper at half price to Asda shoppers and we had a good laugh about the negative effect the thong/bowtie ensemble will undoubtedly have on the Scotland With Style campaign but I said no thank you to buying the paper, even at 40p.

Madchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

they are all absolute cunts, with the exception of shell and dan (and even he's a bit of a twat). if he tells anyone to stop wasting good oxygen, he'd be right. i know everyone says it but i don't think i'll be watching this again. it's real barrel-bottom tv. just dreadful. (put some good plays on instead of this shit, for fuck's sake.i only saw two of last year's and one of the year before's so it won't be breakig a big habit or anything. kitten is absolutely hateful: the epitome of dimwitted "confrontational" liberalism. that said, i really don't like the way gays and transexuals are being used to create a freakshow. victor and stewart both need a really good kicking and suzy's right about that south african girl, too, but then again i've never met anyone from that part of the world i've liked.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Sunday, 30 May 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Shell seems lovely, yeah.

Ahmed was very funny in the diary room for the nominations. I think he will continue to make me laugh.

Michelle also seems OK.

Millie Tant is entertaining. Millie in the jacuzzi sweating it out, sticking to her 'I'm gonna use this platform to make a stand and this is my first action' was OK - you couldn't be annoyed by her, she's so daft. And maybe a bit sad. It was weird Davina piling on the contempt.

Barry Moussaka is also too much of a caricature to annoy.

Emma was the one who seemed to feel most sorrow that one person would have to do without their suitcase. That was sweet and made me warm to her.

Victor was great the way he made no pretence about it being a hard decision. No arsing about getting them to clarify the question. No ooh and ahhing. Just 'Kitten'.

Stuart is better looking than I thought.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I fell in love with shell.

nadia reminds me of desperate dan. : / that's a nasty thing to say.

stuart is ugly.

jason seems 'genuine'.

I like emma, a lot. haha the stuff abt 'home-osexuals'.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

damn, you people are making me want to watch this again!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I think everyone now loves shell.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

phil (my friend who knows her) says 'everyone falls in love with shell.' so she's one of them! I really resent falling in love with those people, it's like having the reaction to an advert that the advertisers want you too. or -.

I heard, next week: the group decides who goes out then they 'go out' and live in a little room in the walls of the house where they can see everything which the house-mates say about them post-'leaving' and eventually they go back in the house for another week. is this true?!

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know about Emma - that whole behaviour where she sticks out her neck, bulges her eyes and gawps while maximising her overbite is kind of annoying.

suzy (suzy), Sunday, 30 May 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

not read the thread yet but, frankly, ALL OF THEM MUST GO - including Gwyneth, I mean "Shell"

zebedee (zebedee), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

you leave. her. ALONE. OK?

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

people kept rubbing her tits last night in the hot tub.

also victor described his cock size far too enthusiastically, "GIRTH, WE'RE TALKING GIRTH, I CAN'T EVEN FIT IT IN MOST TIMES".

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

bet it's tiny.

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

probably.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

"If I took my towel off, it'd be on the front page of The Sun: "BLACK MAN HAS BIG DICK""

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

4-a-levels guy owns this! especially since he can't understand basic instructions!

Enrique (Enrique), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Al'Quaida culd win a lot of hearts and minds by making the big brother house their next target.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

4 a levels guy is sure to whip out a guitar at some point.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread has made me want to be sensible and stay in after all. Has anything apart from the 1st night and the nominations been on C4 yet?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 30 May 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

people kept rubbing her tits last night in the hot tub.

:/

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

The Victor and Michelle(?) footrub conversation was priceless

Victor: So what do you look for in a man.

Michelle: Good personality.

V: *raises eyebrow* Really?

M: *non-commital noise*

V: What if it he was a hunchback?

M: *thinks* Well I might draw the line at a hunchback.

V: What if he was a hunchback with a thick cock?

M. Er....?

V: And my personality?

M: I don't really know you, so I can't judge.

V: Do you WANT to get to know me?

M: Sure. *shrugs*

V: If you got to know me would you be interested?

M: Well, I don't know you, so I can't say.

V: But you want to get to know me?

M: Yeah sure.

V: Interesting... *raises eyebrow and looks pleased with himself*

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

omfg!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

indeed.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

it was much funnier on TV, jed, honest

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

so, in all seriousness: who knows of a pub in central london showing bb?! this is the first time in years that i've really, really missed having a tv...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 30 May 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"My DNA stands for 'Dis Negro's Attractive'"

!!!!

Victor may be a tosser but there's plenty of comic mileage left in him, I think. Nadia must go - I can't remember the last time I was so irritated by someone saying so little.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

That thick girl is incredibly thick.

"biting the hand that feeds I know what that means! when you are mean to someone who is helping you!!!"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i see the victor/michelle dialogue was edited to make it seem fairly harmless and make us think there may be a possibility of them gettin jiggy.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

best conversation of the series so far:

kitten is in the hot tub, covering up her tits. victor is lying next to it, staring at them, telling her how he isn't sexist.

victor: 'don't take this the wrong way, but... men like attractive lesbians'

kitten: '................................................'

somewhere in bolivia, a pin drops.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah that was ace. they are editing negatively against victor I'd venture, anyone agree?

Not that he's not giving them top material.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, Emma is incredibly annoying. How long before she moves in to steal Victor's woman, I wonder?

If Kitten lasts this week, she'll be this year's Jade, I reckon. Victor will be the first voted out by the public. Shell or Vanessa to win, I reckon.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

they clearly are - i approve of this, as it means kitten stays in. she crumbled pretty quickly didn't she?... all this 'i'm going to be NICE tomorrow...' business...

its obviously because they want victor to do this living in the walls of the house thing. and i can't help but agree. after five minutes with him, i'd want him to go and live in the walls of the house too. preferably somewhere airtight.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked how Kitten varied the intensity, and she will have to keep doing that if she wants to stay. A moment of niceness every now and again among the fury and disobedience and I can see her making it to the final week.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

[producer's note: it's time for the rest of ILX to vote on which ILXor is first to be evicted from this thread. Will it be lustful Cozen? Wrathful Ailsa? Or Machiavellian N? Cast your votes now! (and please send 50p per vote to my paypal account while you're at it - I'll put it towards a prize for the last remaining poster or something)

Markelby (Mark C), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Tone down on the camp-ness tomorrow marco.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

they clearly are

errr...editing against victor, that is. it would have made sense if it had actually followed the post it referred to.

i don't think emma's as stupid as everyone thinks, or as she is pretending to be.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The problem with BB is that as soon as you fall behind, it's impossible to argue anyone's case with any authority. Emma is thick, though. Dreadfully.

Markelby (Mark C), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor and Kitten need their own sitcom. Stat.

"Was your pimp black?"
"Yeah"
"How do you know?"

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hang on, the Victor/Michelle dialogue was edited to make it seem HARMLESS?! Crikey, what did he say?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i think jed means that between me watching it last night and him watching it this evening it had been edited.

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i.e. on the last broadcast the conversation i typed out was edited heavily.

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

unless don edited his to demonise victor ;)

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

sssh.. i got money riding on Victor to be first out*

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

*he is a twat.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 30 May 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma's great, she reminds me of loads of the girls I used to hang out with when i was at school.

chris (chris), Sunday, 30 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

just a thought.. i think they said that there would be no nominations but the housemates must decide among themselves who goes "out" this time?

if thats the case then won't they probably draw straws or something.. so it could be any random person?

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

what is this stupid "big sister" plan. I don't understand. How exactly is this supposed to be so subverse?

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

The voice of Big Brother asked the housemates for their empty suitcases back. The housemates came up with a plan to withhold the suitcases in exchange for Kitten's missing suitcase.

I like Victor's verdict: "You're like a James Bond villain, innit".

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

victor should be voted off immediately for wearing his shirt and _hat_ whilst in the hot tub. WTF. Is he have extreme temperature issues? Is he always cold or something?

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's because he's fat.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

where it counts

de, Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

oh kitten, don't try and bond with victor.

don (don), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, Kitten! Ah, humanity!

she's breaking my heart now.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 30 May 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

She dances like I do!

don (don), Monday, 31 May 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

do I like her?

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 31 May 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I am being totally aced in BB watching. Fuck this. I've got to stop going out.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this why you went home early last night?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 May 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I was knackered and went straight to bed.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I fail to see how they could be editing this to make Victor seem worse than he actually is.

I much prefer the old BB voice woman. Is that just me?

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 31 May 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten talked for 2 and a half minutes last night, non stop, talking over anyone who tried to reply.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 May 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Victor's 'gun-cocking' gesture/noise is charming. I'm w/ the hairdresser, despite myself.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 31 May 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I've changed my mind - VICTOR MUST GO! His "they call me the plumber 'cos I like to lay pipes wiv a woman" line didn't even work as a lame, lame metaphor.

Ahmed's sole contribution to BB so far appears to be standing around looking bewildered amongst the other housemates or looking like he's being fellated in the Diary Room.

The housemates appear to be warming to Kitten quite a bit. The 'lets retain our suitcases' thing is kind of cute in its naivety. THEY CAN JUST LOCK THE BEDROOM AND TAKE THEM FROM YOU, YOU FOOLS!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 31 May 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I missed it again. Why have I become so incompetent at a simple task like watching TV?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the stories about her on Digital spy are just getting more and more outlandish.

N, are you on AIM btw?

chris (chris), Monday, 31 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

AIM can fuck off. Steering group scum.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not clear why not getting the housemates' used suitcases will distress or inconvenience Big Brother anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 31 May 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the principle of the thing.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone pointed out to me yesterday that Kitten looks like Jarvis Cocker. I'm slowly coming round to the opinion that they may be right.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 31 May 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, she does. And Emma looks like Kathy Burke.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 May 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

both very true, esp the Jarvis thing, I was wondering who she reminded me of..

chris (chris), Monday, 31 May 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Interesting story brewing on the various BB forums: apparently Kitten and Daniel knew each other before the show, having both been regulars on the Hull gay scene (those words really don't go well together) a few years back, and the majority of the sound dimming when they're talking is not because of legal reasons, but because they're talking about common friends.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

kitten just makes me squirm. the 'i'm not playing along with this game' followed hours later by 'i'm cold, can i have a blanket?' was just classic. why she hasn't got at least two warnings already is a mystery.

and the suitcases. stuart did seem to twig that BB just wanted the empty suitcases to clear some space in the bedroom, was doing them a favour but everybody else thinks they're, i dunno, being deprived somehow and that they should get something in trade for returning the suitcases that weren't even theirs to begin with. ingrates.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I heart Kitten, you will be entirely unsurprised to hear.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten is annoying the fuck out of me. She jumped the shark w/ this 'Big Sister' bollocks. She's an agent provocatuer of the right.
Victor is classic, just for lameitude.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I really hope BB starts making them SUFFER very soon. That demented sealion clapping they're all doing is really starting to annoy me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

"demented sealion clapping"?!

I don't know whether I should be happy or sad at not having watched this since Saturday.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

its marco, i think. when he's happy, he barks like a sealion.
one can only imagine what he's like during sex.

i don't want to imagine it for long. its not a pleasant image.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Sunday was a recap. Yesterday had lots of Kitten misbehaving. Dyou reckon Marco's like that in court? OMIGOD -- a witness!!

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post..

kitten = tracy thorn CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS?!?

also kitten = rick from the young ones.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Marco seems to have watched too many episodes of the mid-'90s BBC sitcom The High Life (is that what it was called? Alan Cumming and Forbes Masson camping it up as air stewards. And they were both 20 trillion times more convincing, camp-wise, than Our Jason).

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:03 (twenty-one years ago)

no, she is TT and JC's LOVE CHILD...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it was the high life. and they were marginally less irritating than marco. why must every word be elongated? why not just SAY the fucking word rather than peforming it?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

She's him out of Carter USM.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

kitten is enrique! (take the glasses off from that TO byline pic - PROVEN BY SCIENCE!!)

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Kitten looks a bit like 50 Cent.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh, yeucch. kitten's far more fanciable than bloomin' 50 cent!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't blow my cover, motherfucker. This is the last place I should be ILXing from.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i am just waiting for kitten to come out with the phrase: "don't try it."

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if Kitten would approve of 50 Cent.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't see why not -- what's he done wrong? Do we buy the idea that Kitten gave head for cigs, and had a pimp? Just sayin'.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

kitten has not received nine bullet wounds and did not drive herself to hospital either. nor is her jawline compatible with that of the 50 cent.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

she's giving people called Kitten a bad name. bah!

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I am photoshopping her destroying the Canary Wharf towers as we speak, g-kit ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

w00t!

now i can die happy.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Marco=Fran Drescher

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Has he elaborated on his 'sponger asylum seeker scum' comments yet?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't hear that.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Nor did I.

Considering that one of the housemates is, strictly speaking, an asylum seeker, it would seem even more stupid and insensitive a comment to make. Though McCall should also get the boot for her homophobic comments.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought that was one of his opening gambits, on his interview tape. I didn't see it though - apologies to Marco if I have got confused.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

What everyone has said is right, even the contradictory stuff, but somehow you've missed out saying

BEST BIG BROTHER EVAH!!

Victor and Kitten are my faves by a mile.

Worst: Stuart "cleverest BB person ever" not understanding the first thing BB asks him to do. Emma for being vacant and encouraging Marco's queeny screaming, but possibly becoming endearing (erm)

Marco did say that stuff on his interview tape - tho just generally saying he doesn't care about anyone other than his friends.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i have changed my mind. Some of them are all right.

re: the Big Sister thing. I squirmed when k.d. thorn first mentioned it in the Diary Room, but it was great how all the other housemates decided to run with it too. interesting to see if it'll stick...

empty suitcases in return for one photo seems a not unreasonable demand

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

'just generally saying he doesn't care about anyone other than his friends' = pretty much my definition of an awful person.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I want more Ahmed action - I'm interested in how the rest of the house are reacting to him, and how he's reacting to them. I draw the line at seeing his wang again, mind.

The scene when Dan was greasing down Jason's naked arse made me cringe.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

it seems like an acknowledgement that people think he's a dickhead

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

And he's a lawyer -- PH34R!

xpost

The Shell-love round here demos a lot of middle-class recidivism.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The scene where Marco was pretending to be a 'mermaid' (mermaid costume - silly bra, pearls, stupid voice - NO FISHY TAIL) made me cringe, and then cringe some more. Please get him off. The show, that is.

And what WAS he supposed to be singing?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

'just generally saying he doesn't care about anyone other than his friends' = pretty much my definition of an awful person.
-- N. (nickdastoo...), June 1st, 2004.

Pretty much my definition of an honest person. I mean, who in their heart does, when shove comes to spots at the end of the leopard?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

can someone please clarify what's happening with the nominations this week?

as I understood it, they'll nominate as normal (and think they're nominating for eviction) but the evicted person (decided how?) will not actually leave the house but be put into a secret room in the house, there to "wreak their revenge" or some such nonsense

obviously, makes no sense for that person to be Kitten. for all her foibles, she's clearly not the vindictive type and will probably just refuse to play BB's game. Ahmed The Dull might be good in that role though

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Or, perhaps, Ahmed Biding His Time Until The Final Night When He Suddenly Unleashes His Untold And Bloody Wrath, Last 15 Minutes Of Dogville Style?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

That is discraceful Islamophobia and I demand you are sacked from this thread forthwith.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Marco didn't add "when shove comes to spots at the end of the leopard" though. It was a blanket "fuck society". whether he meant it is another thing. otherwise N OTM.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

as i understand it, they nominate and the person with the most nominations is "out", ie NO public vote, then they get to run around in the walls or whatever...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well when it comes down to it I don't care about anyone except my friends and family. Why is this wrong or immoral?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have the slightest clue what they're going to do with the first evictee, really - but I'm sure they're not REALLY planning on putting someone as evidently mentally unstable as Kitten in what amounts to solitary confinement for nine weeks. Are they?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

What makes you think she's mentally unstable?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

YEah, '50s-style-psychoanalysis-as-social-control-yikeX0r.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post She reminds us of you.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe we are working with different definitions of 'caring', Marcello. It might be harder to empathise with the pain of strangers, compared to that of one's friends, but if that then forms the basis of a political outlook that involves being callous towards anyone else (Alan seemed to imply that it was linked into his attitude towards asylum seekers) then that's pretty fucking horrible ground.

I'm not particularly interested in people being honest about being an arsehole.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

what they do with the evictees:

http://bigbrother.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds6145.html

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

My definition would not incline towards "being callous towards anyone else" but more "being indifferent towards anyone else." Most peoiple find it difficult, subjectively, about the pain of strangers because they have enough pain of their own to deal with. There generally isn't any more room in their lives to deal with the pain of people they don't know and who don't know them. That's what human beings are like, more or less.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

So its two out at the weekend then? Oh god, please make Kitten and Victor have to spend seven days alone in a room together.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm..."Kitten held ex-lover captive." I want to spend seven days alone in a room with her, if not seven years...

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Its a brilliant conceit, now I think about it. The evicted housemate is encouraged to stab someone in the back, and then they get to spend the next week with them and no one else! Fantastic!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

As I said Marcello, I was talking about the political implications. I don't want people to be walking about feeling everyone's pain all the time. I phoned Thom Yorke and he agreed it was ridiculous.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

If he rings again, tell him I want my copy of the Slowdive album back.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

kitten reminds me of donna mcphail - anyone remember her?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

yes!!!!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i fucking loathe that woman - both of them, in fact

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

You and your bloody loathing.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

donna mcphail follows me around the country, seriously. it weirds me out horribly. everywhere i go she turns up - liverpool, manchester, bethnal green... ugh!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

She is rubbish, I will grant you that.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

as i understand it, they nominate and the person with the most nominations is "out", ie NO public vote

difficult to believe that channel 4 is forfeiting all the phone-vote cash for this week, though.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm concerned for BB that their intended evil-ness plot of the first eviction shenanigans might actually lead to co-operation World War One style-ee. not the football thing, but the occasional tacit agreement not to blitz each other's supplies as they came in sort of thing

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave hates everybody.

Donna MacPhail: argharghargh. She used to be the partner in holy bedlock of a friend of mine and is a giant pain in the arse (got blootered, was sick at my house etc) but at the very least isn't all RIGHT, KIDS? every fucking second of the day. Because it would cut in to valuable charlie consumption time.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

difficult to believe that channel 4 is forfeiting all the phone-vote cash for this week, though.

There will probably be a 'chance' to vote on something else, instead.

Its clearly going to be Kitten, isn't it? And it won't work.

x-post Donna McPhail is more similar to the twat that presents E-Fourum, the Big Brother 'discussion' show. Not since the word has someone so talentless presented a television programme. *

* this is probably untrue

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't hate everybody suzy. for example i don't hate you. you just irritate me.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Aww, Dave, that's almost Zen of you. Although I don't give a shit one way or the other.

Sadly Donna has talent - it's just that she's spunked away most of her opportunities because of her attitude and charlie. I've seen her be absolutely lovely but OMG did she go psycho when my friend finished with her. Usually an attitude and a charlie habit are essential components for working in TV but not THIS time: double standard!

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The only reason I have to make any noise about what I do or who I know is because someone's posting ill-informed bullshit that 700 people or so might take at face value unless I intervene.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

do you know every vaguely famous person in the UK?

xp

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i met someone once who worked with denis neilsen

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

did he have a coke habit?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

he had a nun's habit

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

cocaine would not have been the worst thing about him, but no i don't know.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(i'm actually not bullshitting here, it was probably the oddest pub conversation i've ever had)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i reckon suzy is always telling her showbiz pals what us ILXors get up to. watch what you say, she's noting it all down you know!

the person Kitten reminds me of the most is The Franz Ferdinand

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

do you reckon they get sick to the back teeth of it, too?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

suzy: '... and stevem has TOTALLY gone UP his own ARSE since they let him in the Steering Committee or whatever those AIM fuX0rs call it...'

Tracy Emin: 'Do you know *everybody* on the interweb?'

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Suzy 'oh did you hear about Matt DC busting his foot on a stairwell at Charlie's pals do?'

Bryan Ferry 'aye pet, everywun's tarkin aboot it down at Tha Ferryman laik'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave, I have a feeling you'd be less irritated if I didn't call your bullshit out when you're slagging off friends of mine whose only crimes were (at a guess) not returning calls and mails or not commissioning your work. People are forced to conclude these sorts of things after the billionth rant about Petridis or whoever, it's like a sour grapes starter followed by a main course of sucking eggs and thwarted ambition for pudding. If I had your attitude I might have career indigestion too.

All you do is bitch. Is this what it boils down to or are you going to protest that you're happy blogging out of office hours and are not really ambitious at all?

(xpost haha Steve I didn't meet Bryan Ferry last week, he was just at the same party)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Personally, I think Dave will be the first evictee - he keeps allowing Suzy to put him on the back foot, and although their sporadic clashes were entertaining at first, I can sense the other housemates, not to mention the viewing public, getting hugely bored and pissed off by now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt DC OTM.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(If Dave and Suzy were in the BB house, this would be grand television.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

(um durrr I am tired and thick, I am clearly the first evictee)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha Stuart Perry.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

suzy mentioning grapes, eggs, pudding and 'boils down to' in the same paragraph = i'm sure glad i had lunch already

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmmm eggy grape pudding.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

lose points for missing the obvious chip on shoulder ref tho - still it's quite clear you cut the mustard, shame about all this beef

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

suzy do you honestly think i'd ever even consider writing for filthy rags like sleaze etc? i get comissioned where i want to write, thanks very much and am actually one of the least ambitious people you're ever likely to come across. and, jesus christ, if being successful means i have to live your life, i'm much happier with my blog and my rented flat in an unglamorous part of hackney, with real friends - not just "contacts".
very good with the sweeping judgements, aren't you? as it happens, i only ever bitch about people i've actually met! you don't know me, so how can you come to these conclusions?
i am just sick to fucking death of hearing who you know, their potted life story and how all-round connected up the arse you are, every sodding time someone mentions any person in the media (no matter how talentless). do you think anyone cares? do you think it impresses people? well, it doesn't, it drives them fucking mental. thank you and goodnight.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz you know it's all gravy

(not even a Big Brother thread can stop us resorting to discussing food - TAKE THAT DAVINA)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave, you're not getting your suitcase for that, you know.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm walking anyway, but i have a sneaking feeling i wasn't talking only for myself.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Peace up for fuck's sake: I hate the kept-on-edgeness of 'lancing, so I'm w/ Dave (keeps you... edgy, yes?); but I don't really have a *problem* as such w/ name-dropping. But then my uncle *is* the managing ed of the Grauniad... Like most people it probably washes over me since I hardly read any mags -- I dunno who either Suzy or Dave are except for their online personae.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Alright folks, do yer talkin' while yer walkin'

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

'Haha, well you know who he's been sleeping with don't you....oh wait...no....damnit' - YES FINALLY I WIN!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone in the house may retire this evening to find that they have an apple-pie bed in store.

Which reminds me: why don't people take the opportunity that BB offers them to play 50s boarding-school pranks on each other on national television?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I DO know Sandi T's ex-PR!!!

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

apple-pie bed? is this the Liz version of The Godfather?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

why don't people take the opportunity that BB offers them to play 50s boarding-school pranks on each other on national television?

yes, i would be trying to pull Victor's trousers down a lot, or give him a colossal wedgie just to hear him yell 'Yargh! My enormous nob!'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah nah an apple-pie bed's when you mess up the sheets but leave the top blanket all neat so it's a nasty shock when they get into bed. Have you never read any of the (late, great Enid Blyton's) Mallory Towers books? Maybe Kitten will be Sent To Coventry at some point this week.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

In Victor's case it would surely have to be making him 'fag' for you e.g. warming the outside loo seat in advance of the morning ablutions.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz's version of intimidating and bullying others presumably involves baking, so I suspect her apple pie bed means a bed with an apple pie in it.

xpost, dammit.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Shoe polish on toast instead of anchovies.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem AND Martin in not having read girls' school books shockah!!! deprived childhoods or what?

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

There are an awful lot of Sandys on ILE.

("I hate all the other contestants. It's like being on a bloody package holiday." Well why are you here then? "You're right - I'm off")

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

an apple-pie bed's when you mess up the sheets but leave the top blanket all neat so it's a nasty shock when they get into bed.

cor you evil cah!

x-post, it's not shocking zeb. mind you the girls didn't read Fighting Fantasy so they are oblivious to my determining whether my adversaries should live or die via the rolling of die

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Liz was talking about short-sheeting, which is making the bed with a cover sheet so when the user tries to climb in, they can only get their legs so far down and have to completely dismantle the bed to use it. An apple-pie bed sounds v. twee in comparison.

I'm sure most of the pranks I know involve health and safety violations but a goodie is the old 'thin coating of toothpaste on loo seat' manoevre.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

what's the one where you light them on fire while they're asleep called? you know with their feet nailed to the bed when it's upside down and dripping lambs blood? and you and your mates running around it chanting???

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not on the back foot, but this is the last time i'll bother "calling out bullshit". someone else can do it from now on. having said that, i'll make one last point.
suzy, it's just a bit tawdry and tatty to go round yelling about this stuff all the time. it's boring and if you're so confident of your own abilities, why continually try to prop yourself up by association (just a guess from what i've seen here).
it's evident that you have a raging ego and are capable of being quite vicious and they're all the qualifications you need. you'll go long way.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

An apple pie bed is indeed the short-sheeting technique. All this 'messing up sheets' thing is kids' play.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Suzy's thing -- the short-sheet -- is what I know as an apple-pie bed, but I was just a day-boy so what do I know?

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i have still never seen this programme

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan that's called a Fern Britton, after it's inventor

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Watch it tonight tonight then, charltonlido.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i have still never seen this programme

but i gather you have recently discovered food right?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i dont want to watch it though

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

watch it.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave, shut the fuck up. I like Suzy and you are completely out of order. I don't see Suzy that often but I consider her a good friend and I'm not going to sit here and watch her being insulted just because you got out of the wrong side of bed this morning.

I kept out of the Robin C thread/argument because I didn't want to take sides, but if you're going to continue being like this then please just get off the boards.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude - I read Fighting Fantasy AND boarding school stories AND Jennings AND Just William!! I am BREAKING THE GENDER BARRIERS!!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

he can't eat and watch Tv at the same time!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah - next you'll be buying Yorkies and calling people 'cunts', i don't know!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, it's one of those badge of pride things.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

and Fighting Fantasy is PG stuff compared to the x-rated horrors of those other books

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello in calling someone out for rudeness shocker!

Suzy is indeed a namedropper extraordinaire and it is a "minor irritaion".

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it's often informative and entertaining. perhaps you can have too much of a good thing tho. (i'm not talking about Big Brother here obv.)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

it was really, seriously inadvisable to try that marcello, after the amount i defended you when you've been an absolute twat here

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

and i'm not turning this into a war with you, so forget it. i'm not interested, i like you but that's hypocrisy and then some.

re-reading this thread, I'm surprised nobody's commented yet on "The Scream"'s revelation to Michelle on Sunday that he decided to study law after watching Legally Blonde. fantastic, if it's true!

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I see! I'm supposed to let you insult a friend of mine and just accept it, am I?

Get the fuck out of here before I say or do something I'll regret.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll fight you, if it makes things easier.

I'm sick of you making jokes about my giant hand.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

A big hand for Ronan for offering to fight everyone

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

im not insulting anyone and im basing my comments on her online persona not my personal knowledge of her, this is an online forum after all. You one of the rudest people on this site so its ironic, to say the least, to hear you call anyone else rude and laughable to tell them to "Get the fuck out of here before I say or do something I'll regret". like what? be even more rude than usual?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten would so not be the first dyke to be a worker in the heterosex industry. The lesbian flatmate I had just after college had shiftwork as a phone-sex worker at Screw.

As for me, I'm as likely to cite something that happened to my friend the cycle messenger as I am to cite something that happened to someone famous. Just do a Search if you don't believe me.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm walking anyway, but i have a sneaking feeling i wasn't talking only for myself.

No, you weren't, Dave. The almost constant name-dropping is extremely irritating to read. I work with lots of minor/major celebs and I'd rather burst piles with a rusty pin than resort to trotting out stories about who I'm friends with and relating assorted mundane shite about them.

penelope_111, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Reading mundane gossip about semi-celebs is the reason I clicked on this thread.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Penelope,

Fuck off and die you nonentity.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Snide comments along the lines of "Well, I know loads of famous people and you don't see ME namedropping them!" are infinitely more tiresome than namedropping itself, IMO.

(Since everyone's showing their asses, I feel compelled to join in.)

(See how I tied this back to Big Brother? I AM CLEVER.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Such snide comments usually mean "I know NO famous people which is why you don't see ME namedropping them!"

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello.

Whatever, fuckface.

penelope_111, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Marcello, why don't you offer to fight Penelope too?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I disagree, Marcello; the person in question usually does know famous people but has fallen into the "inverse-namedropping" one-upmanship game, which is pretty much just as self-serving, self-important and fatuous as the worst excesses of namedropping in and of itself with the added bonus of completely imaginary moral high ground.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

It would only fuel her woeful envy of her superiors.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Strangely enough, Dan, that's just what Polly Harvey was saying to me in the Flask at Sunday lunchtime...

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I know internet journalist Marcello Carlin.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, actually, it was an expression of my opinion. I said I find it irritating to read. What's the big deal? Should I not have an opinion on this?

penelope, try "I know you are, what am I?" - that's a killer

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a difference between saying "I don't like namedropping" and saying "I know tons of famous people and you don't see ME namedropping" that I would think is pretty self-evident.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I am gratified, however, that my opinion appears to hold enough weight that the expression of it means that people think they aren't allowed to do or say certain things! I'm closer to world domination than I thought.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a difference between saying someone annoys the face of you and telling them to get cancer, too

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

There are quite a few people on here who know famous/media/creative people which is why I don't think it's a great big deal to say things about those people.

There have been far too many kettle/pot moments on this thread.

Penelope, the only time people notice you is when you complain. Is this a life pattern?

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Erm, can you forewarn me about the putdowns please? They're not terribly obvious.

penelope_111, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

(Penelope, if that was directed towards my last post, the putdown wasn't obvious because it wasn't actually a putdown.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah reminded me of Dickie Bird just then.

Surely Henry Blofeld, Stevem?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Penelope, the only time people notice you is when you complain. Is this a life pattern?

This bit might be, it's awfully hard to tell though.

Oh sod this, I'm worse, this is terribly silly.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Big Brother was, in a way, horrible.

But this thread is more horrible. Isn't it?

I wish this told us something.

the bluefox, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

But it has done.

What this thread has told us is:

it's very unwise to try it.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

it should be tried very often.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I tried it once, found it alright for kicks, but now I've found out it's a habit that sticks

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

she's known as nell in camberwell! she went down to the vicar's!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes Dave, but trying it with someone who you know is going to give a predictable refrain that has been heard over and over and over again argues against trying it unless of course you just enjoy being a tiresome twat.

Mr. Pot (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

trying it just results in bluster and argle-bargle, what's the point? (apart from the fact that it can be hilarious)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i havent seen anyone try anything at all yet. certainly not on this thread. i notice a little shouting upthread somewhere, but no real trying it, and no consequences. certainly nothing to prevent a rerun tomorrow

perhaps i missed that part.

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

(Haha Chris is the nice me)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

In other words, must try harder

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say something about schoolkids, winos and heads of state but some twat would tell me I was namedropping.

(massive x-post)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It's very funny; you can pinpoint the EXACT MOMENT that Big Brother became boring by seeing where the posters on this thread turned on each other!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

to be honest, i've not even tried to be rude here.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ironically, I think the only person who really tried it on this thread was Marcello with the cancer comment.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Strangely enough, Iain Sinclair remarked to me on the walkway which links the London Museum and the Royal College of Barber Surgeons on Saturday morning that society would benefit immeasurably if winos were elected as heads of state.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

a new BB thread will be requird

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup -- after four days!

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

If you want to be rude to Suzy, that's what you get.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

a/s/l?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Suzy's posts have been consistently obnoxious (and not just for name-dropping) ever since ILE began. Why are people just noticing this now?

slb, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Because everyone else is consistently obnoxious too?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

what precisely do you get and i wasn't being rude - i prefer honest.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

you get Marcello wishing a termnal disease on you, duh.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

dave and slb, fuck off.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

look, we are all entitled to have different opinions on people.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

and you are entitled to insult people.

and people are entitled to call you in on these insults.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

there are a lot of people on this thread who would benefit from a smack in the face.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

and you're just the man to give it?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i was merely making an observation. i am a peaceful and placid fellow who wishes no ill on his fellow humans.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha Nice one Doomie

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Going back a way, I haven't read any schoolgirl fiction, but I have seen plenty of, um, videos set in such places. They seemed not to feature apple pie beds.

(In fact I knew what they were - I was at a boarding school myself, and this is not a prank restricted to girls.)

Let's not start a new BB thread! I want a thread I started (I don't start many) to get really enormous!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

martin, for heaven's sake, you're lowering the tone of this thread!

have you ever read the schoolgirl porn novels philip larkin wrote in the '40s under the pseudonym brunette coleman? remarkable stuff.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Also I don't really rate the opinions of anonymous posters or people hiding behind an alias for the day just to call me names.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, 385 posts unread. Skooching all the way back to yesterday,

I've changed my mind - VICTOR MUST GO! His "they call me the plumber 'cos I like to lay pipes wiv a woman" line didn't even work as a lame, lame metaphor."

Even lamer, our Victor is making references to song lyrics - Turn It Around by Square One which, annoyingly, I can't find on Soulseek. Gah.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh Ally, I thought I met you with Madchen at said party. Though I could be confused but M. was definitely there.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was! I drank 5 Bloody Marys (= 5 portions of fruit & veg) and didn't say very much to you, which I've always thought bad form, seeing as you were the hostess and all.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to make a t-shirt that says "they call me the plumber 'cos I like to lay pipes wiv a woman" post-haste.

Now, is it true Kitten went to posh school? Does this make her pimp/cigs/head claims less likely?

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the END for you, you gutter-crawling cur!
<comeback>And I?ve got a little TIP for you, get the POINT?

Soon you?ll be wearing my sword like a shish kebab!
<comeback>First you better stop waiving it like a feather-duster.

My handkerchief will wipe up your blood!
<comeback>So you got that job as janitor, after all.

People fall at my feet when they see me coming.
<comeback>Even BEFORE they smell your breath?

I once owned a dog that was smarter then you.
<comeback>He must have taught you everything you know.

You make me want to puke.
<comeback>You make me think somebody already did.

Nobody?s ever drawn blood from me and no body ever will.
<comeback>You run THAT fast?

You fight like a dairy farmer.
<comeback>How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

I got this scar on my face during a mighty struggle!
<comeback>I hope now you?ve learned to stop picking your nose.

Have you stopped wearing diapers yet?
<comeback>Why, did you want to borrow one?

I?ve heard you were a contemptible sneak.
<comeback>Too bad no one?s ever heard of YOU at all.

You?re no match for my brains, you poor fool.
<comeback>I?d be in real trouble if you ever used them.

You have the manners of a begger.
<comeback>I wanted to make sure you?d feel comfortable with me.

I?m not going to take your insolence sitting down!
<comeback>Your hemorrhoids are flaring up again, eh?

There are no words for how disgusting you are.
<comeback>Yes there are. You just never learned them.

I?ve spoken with apes more polite then you.
<comeback>I?m glad to hear you attended your family reunion.

doh! i thought "try harder" and "I know you are, what am I?" were direct Monkey Island quotes, but I cant find em here. however, these are only the correct answers, not the lame insults that result in you losing.
still that gamne is genius.

When you say 'fight', you mean - physical??

the bellefox, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It seems not.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The fight doesn't seem hugely entertaining, but - I don't know whether this has appeared on this thread yet during its massive detour - Kitten and Emma have also discovered the bedroom, and wondered whether two people will be put into it. So when the first 'evictee' is asked to choose someone else to leave with them, they will surely twig!

I still haven't watched it since day 1, are Kitten's attempts to screw over the producers actually succeeding?!

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Advertisers have pulled out, Channel 4 staff have declared Horseferry Road a people's republic, the M74 extension has been scrapped and troops are withdrawing from Iraq.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Have Football 365 or Tee-Marto or any of the usual suspects starting selling tee-shirts with Kitten's face in a Che Guevara stylee yet? If not, why not?

millie tant must go, as must Marco, his fake crying last night was unbearable.

chris (chris), Thursday, 3 June 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing that pissed me off most about Kitten was her absolute confidence in herself and the assumption that everyone would just go along with her games. Like when she found out she wasn't getting her case, the first thing she said was "that's OK, you'll all share with me, right?" and then in the diary room she blathered on about how it wouldn't matter and how everyone would stick by her and it in the end the BB woman had to say "SO WHY DO YOU THINK THEY VOTED FOR YOU?"

Victor's put-down after they were warned that A housemate would be evicted if she kept fucking around was classic.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 3 June 2004 07:37 (twenty-one years ago)

all along kitten's been 'i believe in the rights of people as individuals' and twenty seconds later 'WE should all do this'. the rights of individuals, as far as i can see, is all the excuse she needs to commit petty vandalism.

but i can't help thinking that the 'evict A housemate' thing is channel 4 realising that if they evicted her then it'll be a lot less watchable. (whereas if they evicted stuart or ahmed i don't think anyone would notice)

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 3 June 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuart needs to stay in for inevitable will-they-won't-they sexual tension with female housemate once all the watchable ones have been evicted.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 3 June 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuart is like a rubbish Alex.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 3 June 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Them finding the secret room = a dud, surely, how's that gonna work? They'll obviously twig when the "evictee" is asked to nominate another person, right?

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

was it the secret room though? i think it was just them trying to see in the camera alley and seeing things in the dark.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah - they saw a double bed in there apparently.

Kitten has been in the diary room for 2 hours! Dude!

kitten!!!!

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 3 June 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

really?! but is it a real eviction? it occured to me earlier that i'd pretend to kick someone out, but actually stick them in the secret room with whoever goes on friday - that way there's less chance of the housemates knowing what's happened than if they go through with the original plan, now that the secret room's common knowledge.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 3 June 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

emma handled herself pretty well against kitten on tonight show - she's definately more savvy that she lets on!

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 3 June 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I thought Emma did well. I really don't understand what's going on though...I'm a bit too stupid. Is someone getting evicted because of Kitten or not? I watched the program and realised at the end I didn't have a clue...

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 3 June 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

has anyone posted a link to this Big Brother Truth website? It smells a little like Guerilla marketing to me, though. And doesn't Victor look like A Guy Called Gerald (who admittedly I haven't seen a picture of for years)?

sos (yaye), Friday, 4 June 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

hm an interesting site that

Patrick Kinghorn, Friday, 4 June 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

She has already proclaimed herself the hardcore Left-wing lesbian of Big
Brother. But the father of Kathryn 'Kitten' Pinder last night said her
tales of being a teenage prostitute are a lie - and slammed Channel 4 for
the show's obsession with sex.

Kenneth Pinder, a retired surveyor, said his daughter was in fact at a
?12,000-a-year boarding school at 16, the age when she told fellow
contestants on the reality show she was working as a child prostitute in
London.

She had, however, completed a well-regarded dissertation on prostitution
while a university student, so he assumed she must have drawn on that
knowledge for her attention-seeking stories on screen.

And Mr Pinder, 57, who had to remortgage the family's detached home to
satisfy 'radical' Kathryn's request to go to private school, said the whole
family are devastated by her sudden appearance on television.

None had been told she was to take part. Mr Pinder and his former wife
Elizabeth-Anne - they split in 1998 - were last night understood to be
making desperate efforts to persuade producers to remove their 24-year- old
daughter from the programme before more harm is done.

Since she entered the Big Brother house on Friday - publicly kissing her
girlfriend Lianda Gibson and giving cameramen her trademark one-finger
salute as she did so - she has already became unpopular with fellow inmates
and had all her belongings taken.

At his home in St Albans, Hertfordshire, Mr Pinder, who calls his daughter
Kat, said: 'Kat was having problems at her secondary school in Beverley,
Yorkshire, and she chose to go to private school.

'We remortgaged the house, and she chose Denstone College in Staffordshire.

'When she reached the age of 16, she was still at Denstone College. She was
still there right to the end of the following academic year.

'She was nearly 17 when she left. She then came home to live with her
parents in Beverley.

'She was a full-time student at Wyke Sixth-Form College in Hull and
followed on to Hull College doing A-levels. She studied continuously in
Hull and was living in Hull right through university until she got her
degree in 2003.

'She missed getting a first- class degree by a whisker and got the
departmental prize. Only then did she move to Brighton. She never lived in
London.

'I do not know why she has said what she has said. Her parents have loved
her and cherished her.'

He added that she may have found it easy to talk about prostitution on the
television show because her degree dissertation had been a comparison of
prostitution in London with that in Amsterdam.

Mr Pinder said: 'My daughter is a pawn in a much bigger game. The game
being played is being perpetuated by Channel 4. 'Channel 4 has allowed the
contestants to be conned.

'I did not know she was even staying with those people until the first
programme had been run on the television.

'She kept it all a secret. All the other families were there at the launch.

'People's lives are being destroyed because of this. Her mother has been
totally distraught.

'There are frail elderly relatives who have had sheltered upbringings whose
lives will be ruined by this.

'It is built on a huge fabrication of lies - had it not been for these
vile,
pernicious, totally sexual overtones and the fabric of lies around these
sexual things and prostitution, there is a lot in there that could be
entertaining.

'But you could not be amused by it and entertained by it because of the
sexual overtones and the sexual agenda.

'The sexual agenda prevents any semblance of amusement or entertainment. It
stifles the entertainment value.'

Mr Pinder said he last saw his daughter at her flat in Brighton in April,
when he visited her and her girlfriend with Easter eggs and her computer
from home.

And he said he wished she had not gone into the Big Brother house at all.

'Obviously I would prefer her not to be on the programme,' he added. 'I
would not like to go any further than that

> And Mr Pinder, 57, who had to remortgage the family's detached home to
satisfy 'radical' Kathryn's request to go to private school

oh, so when she was writing things on mirrors about Class War she neglected to say which side she'd be fighting on.

the whole 'don't blame me' thing last night was ridiculous.

Alright, bored now... when does the footy start?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 4 June 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitten reminds me of Eminem. They have similar eyes.

Just noticed Matt DC's comments upthread - I think Ahmed has a similar shaped nose to me. But that's just on the basis of the picture above, as so far I have only seen BB's Little Brother yesterday eve., when they had discovered that Jason had fabricated the tale about him winning Best Buttocks South Lanarkshire. The funniest bit was when they showed us a fax from the club where the competition had supposedly taken place...I would have loved to have been the person who sent that to them..... "What did you do at work today?" etc.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 4 June 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

More from Holy Moly:

So, what has the first week of Big Brother told us?.. Well, despite hundreds of emails proclaiming Kitten to be the mole (give us *some* fucking credit) only one or two of you guessed correctly. The clothing code (see last week) nearly ended in disaster with the threat of our mole losing all their kit, but we have managed to glean bits and bobs.... We need some help piecing it together though... can anyone from Endemol help?

a) Belgium.
b) Stolen car.
c) Panicking chaperone

And without wanting to sound like Mystic Meg...

d) Make-up bag

Holy Moly has absolutely no fucking idea what that all means, if you can help

This now smells more like bullshit than it did last week...

also, is it just me or do channel 4/endemol seem to have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE what is going on this year, the whole thing seems to be careering out of control. it hasn't been this mad since nasty nick, when they were kind of forgiven what with it being the first one and all...

Mark Lewston [which is supposedly Marco's real name] claims to have paranormal powers and on occasion has claimed to have the ability to morph his physical shape into that of a spiritual entity or even an animal.

Okayyyy.

whatever happened to this sorry lot? i just did a wikipedia search and discovered this: Since Big Brother, Nadia has released a music single called, A Little Bit Of Action and has also made a guest appearance in the soap opera Hollyoaks.
i was unaware... i know vanessa and shell are still gracing the tabloids, usually topless, and offering their two cents on current bb goings-on, but what about ahmed and jason and victor?
