Housemates, this is trig brother('s mate).

as previously announced this year's Tirg Brother will take place around central london on Saturday 31st July, probably starting around 2ish and going on until way past everyone's bedtimes, no doubt.

frankly, i think this is the best day out all year, it's NOT about getting slaughtered (honest) and it's NOT about competitive drinking. It is about spending a whole day talking rubbish with interesting people. it is definately about new people coming and joining in if they would like to (in fact they generally do quite well).

anyone else who wants to join in, sign up here.

Trig Brother will get back to you shortly

Trig Brother (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I have ever had properly explained to me the concept of Trig Brother. How do you play? (Bear in mind, you have to explain it to someone who has never seen Big Brother.)

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Trig Brother III - Saturday August 2nd

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

(in fact they generally do quite well).

HA

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 16 July 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm ... *thinks*... I get paid the day before this. I promised the mister a weekend in London sometime. I wonder if he would like to spend it in the company of drunken mentalists? (Likely answer: no chance, but it might be worth a try anyway)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 16 July 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't be drunk or drinking at all probably, it's a surefire way to be evil and win the game.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 16 July 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i was toying with the idea of getting as drunk before the start as i was at the end last time, surely guaranteeing either victory, death or both before the day is thru.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 16 July 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I especially liked the concept of txt updates in the 2003 edition. You'll have to improve. perhaps live mobile video clips???

gizmo (gizmo), Friday, 16 July 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Or at least texting photos around!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 16 July 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

no! Carrier pigeon!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 16 July 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure you can text carrier pigeons, but my phone is a pretty basic one.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 16 July 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

there is talk of all sort of multimedia shennanigans, as i type Big Brother is meeting in secret to discuss quite how evil they are going to be...

also quick recap:

trig brother is a competitive pub crawl. the 12 competitors meet in a central london pub and are set tasks and asked questions (usually in the style of ilx threads). at each pub, based on the other competitors answers and general behaviour each competitor votes for who they would like evicted. those evicted go back to the base pub (in previous years this has been the glasshouse stores and blue posts newman street), whilst the rest move on to the next pub (usually two people are evicted per boozer, so even if you're out first you don't have to sit in the pub on your own). eventually the surviving two or three contestants return to the base pub where a final round of questions are asked and then everyone (spectators are welcome to sit in the base pub all day too :)) get to vote on who they want to win.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 18 July 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Housemates, this is trig brother

i have been asked to read out the following information on behalf of trig brother:

So far the following have signed up to play:

Tom
Matt DC
SteveM
Jel
Carsmile Steve
DaveyB
Anna
Starry
Lixi

We're looking for a group of 12 or so to play, so if you want to
play (do! it's fun!) then let us know here. If there is a big demand
to play, then some of us named above are prepared to make way for
newer people.

[msg ends]

so yes, join in innit.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

*pokes colette*

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!!!!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, OK, can I sign up, please?

I was considering it last night, and thinking I shouldn't, cause I'm not one of the popular kids. But then I thought I should do it cause I'm *not* and that makes me a dark horse. Or something.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not a popularity contest! oh wait...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

We might actually have a 50-50 m/f ratio in this Trig Bruv, just like the real thing.

Unless Trig Brother has us drinking a pint of pureed fish guts, in which case the less like the real thing the better.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never been to one, but I can't imagine it being anything *other* than a popularity contest!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

you should probably play but not if you're going to get all paranoid if you go out in the early stages. that's to everyone really.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

But being the most popular makes you #1 target for your Machiavellian rivals! Have Jason and Victor taught you nothing?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Unless Trig Brother has us drinking a pint of pureed fish guts, in which case the less like the real thing the better.

Unlikely tho I am now wondering what the TV equivalent will be: Maybe someone will be required to drink a bottle of Reef with crushed, grinded and crumbed pork scratchings in it?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, see, I don't know anything about the real BB, so that's me at a disadvantage. Strategy? I thought it was all about just going out and getting plastered with your mates! I know I'm not popular! I'll probably be disappointed if I *don't* get knocked out early, coz then I would have to face the idea that maybe I'm not an ILX Outsider. ;-)

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

But that sounds tasty good! Crumbed pork scratchings, mmmmmmm.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

oh tits.

alix (alix), Monday, 19 July 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, get off my PC you slack-handed harridan (or whatever it is)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going, I'm going. Just let me download some more porn first.

alix (alix), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

As regards trig brother, it turns out I'm working til 3.30. so i won't participate, but I expect I will come later to point and/or laugh.

alix (alix), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not "slack" handed, Steve...

Sarah (starry), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

oh bollocks, i can't bloody do this cos i'm in brixton at a bbq, but my irritatingly uncontrollable scary competitive streak (in pubs at least) is itching to take part. can i txt my presence in?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

dedicatio, that's what you need

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 08:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, is that an X-Men character or something?!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, if last Thursday's discussion was anything to go by, lubrication, that's what you need, if you wanna be a record breakeerrrrr (trumpet bit)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, I remember when Stevem was so very shy before the last trig brother!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, after getting vritually poked by stevem and recriuted at the pub (was that before or after the long discussion about wanking?), i'll say i'm in.

but a little scared.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

[snurk] "poked by stevem" [fnarr] etc

where's rob bolton? he was talking about playing (ie i was trying to persuade him to ;))

any more for any more?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

This Trig Brother needs more BARRY!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 21 July 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

that's so very, very true.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 21 July 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

this here thread needs a bumpin'

do we have twelve victims, sorry, participants yet?

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 22 July 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

um, moving house, wimping out, prolly join for spectating later, soz like...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 22 July 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

you will be found and dealt with, evilly

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 22 July 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

bout 10 playin' now?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 22 July 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe the coolest man of the third millenium is playing.

A new favourite has been installed. (For going out first).

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, but after everything it looks like I won't be able to play after all.

My band's singer and pianist (heh heh, I said pianist) are going on holiday for most of August, so it's the last chance we have to finish our demo thing.

I might come out drinking afterwards, but I doubt it, as when I've got my studio goggles on, I tend not to do anything else. Like yesterday. Like Tuesday. My god, I'm spending my whole life in the studio, yay, I've turned back into me!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

So we now have:

Myself
Tom
Stevem
Starry
The Coolest Man Of The Third Millennium
Colette
Dave B
Anna
Jel
Rob B?
Magnus?
Whoever else... Toby? Cis? RickyT? Someone New And Exciting?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 July 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Who is the CMOTTM? It is early and I am hayfeverish and stupid.

I really just want to know which is the base pub so we can turn up late in the evening to laugh at the drunkards and be smug about our healthy day in the fresh air (and pub, naturellement).

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:03 (twenty-one years ago)

liz, he may have lost his phone number, can he have yours?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, he is quite the slick man.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

CM3M = danger now!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

F#CK. And the Hawaiian shirt he rode in on.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoever else... Toby? Cis? RickyT? Someone New And Exciting?

i'll be there (first day back in london! hurrah!), but i don't intend to play unless no-one else will, as i will clearly be thrashed by my girlfriend.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 23 July 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

will that be before or after she takes part in Trig Bruv?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

GONG!

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

During you fule.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 23 July 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

oh

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're all being very naughty...

Mistress Anna (Anna), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, so we're going to that dungeon goth pub then.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it serve J2O?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

when is their new single out?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

in goblets.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

beaten by an x-post!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

but I'm mellow, I don't mind.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

mellow jellow

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the cambridge fap gang may have convinced someone new-ish to come along to play, but he may have been under the influence of beer and sun when he said he'd think about it...

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 25 July 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

yep, i thought about it...

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 25 July 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose that since no one seems to be taking the initiative to produce live video updates, I'll have to come witness it in person.

Should I buy tickets and camp out in front of the pub the night before?

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 25 July 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

O lor, I forgot about the perhaps letting myself be persuaded to take part this year thing.

I think the fear of going down in the first round may prove too much for poor fragile me, tho.

cis (cis), Sunday, 25 July 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I shouldn't worry about getting kicked out in the first round!

Anyway, I still don't mind making way for new people this year!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm starting to get scared of this since i've now been informed that someone very nice was voted out simply because of her footwear.

i'm so not wearing my new sequin shoes now.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww, man, everyone is going to be there. Stupid studio session! I really feel like blowing it off and just going to Trig Brother. But that would be kind of hard, as it's my studio, que non?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

It's gotta be the pink trainers Colette, everyone will love those!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Gizmo dude! Come to London and party with more mentalists!

I still want to know the base pub. Steering Committee?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Gizmo, you totally gotta reprazent for Cambridge dude!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I arrive late and be like Becki, and then get kicked out after 2 rounds?

alix (alix), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It wasn't the shoes, it was the accompanying socks, clart.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Trig Brother will inform contestants and spectators of the Base pub in due time (hint - it will most likely be in Soho)

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Most pubs in Soho are base.

alix (alix), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

That was rubbish. Sorry.

alix (alix), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

just looking at the weather forecast-- can there be a pub or two that have tables outside, since it looks like it'll be beeyoutiful? huh huh? please?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, good luck on that front with 'Opkins running operations - i've forgotten how embarassing/fun it can feel at first as well when you have this big group of people sitting in a circle while other pubgoers look on bemused

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

this sounds more and more fun...

why did i let you guys talk me into it? oh, that's right, i'd had vast amounts of wine. that and stevem poking me. i figure i should at least agree to what he wants, if he's going to that kind of effort...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't think of a good answer to that question i suggest you ask tho, nor can i think of a good question for myself to ask

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought of another question last night while i waited sixteen years for a bus down holloway road. maybe i'll give you my spare.

why can't you think of a 'good' answer? surely it should be pretty simple?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh but the truth is rubbish so i would exaggerate somewhat to get a better reaction ("clown shows, belt adorned with the skulls of my dead enemies, vest once worn by Gregor Fisher in Rab C Nesbitt" that sorta thing)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I see the question mark upthread about me, which can now be removed - I will join y'all. I don't have to play - happy to stay at base camp, etc. Oh my poor liver! (again)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you should play.

Steve - all the photos have disappeared from this thread, I'm pretty sure you said you had them lying round, right?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

please replace the actual pictures with random photos!

alix (alix), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, i can actually do that!

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i'm in. spectator? contestant? whatever.

gizmo (gizmo), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

heh

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem I kiss you with guns!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

steve that is genius.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

it's best not to read the bits of the paper with the reasons for you getting voted out on.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, people actually write down why they don't like you?!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yes you have to nominate people for eviction giving a reason as to why, all on paper.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

They tried doing it on slate, but it was just too unpleasant.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

we could TEXT it

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

all proceeds to Grecian Earn obv.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Trig Brother would like to remind potential contestants that Trig Brother is not a popularity contest.

Trig Brother (RickyT), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, what time (ish) will this start? can i make lunch plans, or try to swap them into brunch plans?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Trig Brother will announce details re: timings and locations in due time

Trig Brother (porkpie), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, people that have played before-- will i have time for lunch first (like a 3 or 4pm start) or should i do brunch?

not a good sign if i get annnoyed with tb before it even starts, huh? just call me kitten...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

The first message in the thread reads "probably starting around 2ish" so I'd aim for an early lunch, I think.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i am proposing interludes during TB for high tea, supper and brandy and cigars

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't that what they do for cricket?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the idea of taking a break from the all day drinking in order to unwind with a brandy.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think i like brandy. can i have strawberry grog instead, please?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Bump.

Do we still not have a full 12 players? I'm sure we'll get them all once people actually turn up at the pub but COME ON PEOPLE!

I am having a sex change operation this afternoon in the most audacious bid to secure victory ever.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't it about time there was some time/place info?!

i may be bringing along an additional spectator who a few of you have met. but she may decide it's too sunny (i'm with colette on the outdoor = good thing, fwiw, having been in the chilly north for a fortnight).

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 29 July 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Matilda DC?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 29 July 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I am having a sex change operation

well, you've got the high maintenance jealous girlfriend thing down already (you guys should see him with his flatmate, it's adorable), so you'd be some weird nadia/michelle hybrid!

xpost...ooh! exciting!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 29 July 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

gizmo (gizmo), Thursday, 29 July 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the one. Good choice for Base Pub as well, because it holds a big group of people fairly well and there have been several great FAPs in there.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Evil trig brother is not dumb

evil maybe, but not dumb

evil trig brother (porkpie), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Caro coming then Toby?

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Trig Brother's voice. It is very... senssssual.

Ahmed DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

that pub looks familiar. have i been there before?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

anyone planning to turn up to play wearing just a leopardskin thong?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i am contemplating what my attire should be

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

THE SHIRT!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd like to survive the first few rounds tho Matt

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Caro coming then Toby?

she said she quite fancied it. but i can also believe that she might go sunbathing instead (thinking of which, it's apparently going to be hot enough for hampstead heath swimming on sunday...).

there have been several great FAPs in there.

pigsex. someone had to say it.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

matt will be sporting a handmade 'bevar christiana' tshirt...

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Are we staying at yours on Saturday? It would make sense wouldn't it? I'll bring a bikini and sun screen then (not for Trig Brother though, oh no).

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

If you come in a bikin and sunscreen on Saturday its almost a guaranteed win.

Almost.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess it would make sense, yeah, if that's alright with you? it'll be quicker to get back to too.

(sorry everyone else for derailing) (also i have only got two lectures left of durham mathsfest 2004, wooh! but they're now so i can't derail any further.)

(x-post)

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

If you come in a bikin and sunscreen on Saturday its almost a guaranteed win.

especially if you're matt. go on.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 29 July 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

matt could wear his new roskilde kilt with a bikini top...

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 29 July 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear lord.

Haha I Am Victor!! (starry), Thursday, 29 July 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure if I'll play or not this year now. I would kinda like to take it easy and just watch.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 29 July 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't remember who i was telling one of the questions i'd thought up...was it trig brother? was it carsmile? was it everyone? i remember the conversation, i remember we were leaning on the bar near the main set of sofas, but i can't quite remember who i was talking to. sheesh!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it was me. I can't remember what you said at all. I was drunken and am suffering today.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah-ha, there it is!

I will be there late-ish, so I'll just go to the Champion and wait there with the losers, I mean, evictees.

I have to turn up at some point, because I have RickyT's book!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

yay kate!

dave, that makes sense, actually. sounds about right to me. good, my secrets will keep until tomorrow!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 July 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i've thought of a great question.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

or should I say 'question'

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm helping Mr and Mrs Carsmile move, so may well be a bit late - and my mental state remains far too fragile to consider competing anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I so wish I could be there for this. I definitely am planning on returning to the UK en route to Italy next summer and demand that this coordinate with my visit then. Uh, please.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I've no idea where the champion is! Is that the pub where Ally & Tombot FAP was? I very much doubt if I'll be playing this year...new people should be forced to take part!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

you could use the Fancy A Pint website to find the exact location of The Champion, meester jel

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I could do, I suppose...I will just probably use my mentalism tracking satellite.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, satellite never lets me down.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Does this mean that it starts at the Champion?

the bellefox, Friday, 30 July 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Trig Brother would like to reiterate that the base pub will be The Champion. Competitors are expected to arrive at the base pub before 2pm. Latecomers will be inconvenienced.

Trig Brother (RickyT), Friday, 30 July 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello Housemates, this is Davina.

Ok, it's not, and the housemates can't hear anyway cos this is happening RIGHT NOW. But because I'm at work, so stuck at my pc all day, I'm able to provide live updates! Exciting eh?

So...

The first person to be evicted from the Trig Brother house is...

...[slow close-up of each housemate in turn]...

Tom.

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Second Evictee:

Stevem.

Hmm. Given that the only information I'm going to be sent is a list of names, I might struggle to make this interesting and exciting. Ah well, we'll see how it goes.

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Next out:

Matt DC...

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

(ooh, just checked last years results and Steve was the second to be voted out then too. Ouch!)

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagine each eviction taking place in a torrent of tears.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 31 July 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, fourth to leave, Al, and fifth, Dave B.

You know I'm not even 100% sure who was in the starting line-up, in the end, so who knows what'll happen next! Anyone could walk through those doors!

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Next down is Julio...

Ah, I wish I could do proper eviction interviews.

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

And now colette's out, although she's claiming it wasn't fair and Trig Brother's just being evil. Ooooh!

I'll be finishing work soon though, and heading out into what's left of the sunshine, so it's possible that there won't be any more live updates...

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm. Just been informed that Tom and Anna are the latest evictees. Despite the fact I'd already been told Tom was the first to leave. I'm a bit confused, and I suspect the problem is that my source is hammered...

JimD (JimD), Saturday, 31 July 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

it was true! then lixi went (kinda), leaving just cis, rob and franz...

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 31 July 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, it was a good day! I'm glad I played after all (I need a slap when I linger in whiny ennui), and I'm already plotting for next year. You sometimes forget how great ilx events like this are. Err, I fear I may have been a little too bitter about my eviction, evidenced by my headlines...but that's all just part of the fun, it's cathertic - but like sorry if it upset anyone. Also enjoyed slapping Foxy's shiny face, and shouting INDIE. I sort of half-inched the Clea single, but I did leave a pile of CD's for the Exeter City thing. I also kept a Cowger, Moo-roar.

Rob Bolton won BTW.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 1 August 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello!

I would like to PUBLICALLY APOLOGISE for i) getting apallingly drunk; ii) being very grumpy at the end. I had a great time and when the bitterness of my two (ENTIRELY FIXED) evictions had cleared this morning I could appreciate what a top job Big Davina, Small Davina, the Dermots and Ricky T's eForum had done. GOOD WORK and THANKS one and all!

I am very glad I left early though, I was mortal. I did get all the Amnesty stuff home though. Did we ever win anything on the Pepsi Quiz?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Sunday, 1 August 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeh thanks all, for RUINING MY LIFE. Was Dastardly Cheating Rob Bolton ever inconvenienced for being late? (his sneaky vote - based on switching my sunglasses with his and then accusing me of stealing his sunglasses - proving the fatal eviction blow for me, tho I guess I wouldn't have minded so much if it had been later on in the game).

I think a couple of pound coins were pocketed from Pepsitron, Tom

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Sunday, 1 August 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'cheating' - 'taking advantage of a temporarily absent-minded stevem' might be more accurate. But hey, we couldn't have you in the house all day with us, could we? You smelled like wee.
(the truth being i only voted for you because you got no votes in the first round and i wanted to spread it around a little. maybe everyone else thought the same thing? but hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles my friend. as billy bragg once said "sometimes in life you have to take the crunchy with the smooth")

Thanks all for a great day. It came down to the US/Canada duo of Franz and I in the end, and I am humbled by your votes in my favour! Maybe it was that Carter USM record that did it. (the record shoppping with limited funds was such a great idea).

I'm sure Trig Brother will provide a full run-down of the day's highlights later, so I'll go now.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Sunday, 1 August 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheers Tom (even if being identified with that utter fool on the eForum has scarred me for life).

Stevem has no one to blame but himself for his early exit. Nicking everyone else's ideas = guaranteed to cause resentment amongst housemates.

Um, full rundown will happen, but maybe not until later in the week. Porkypie's pictures aren't immediately uploadable, and a couple of rounds will only make sense if you can see the photographic evidence.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 1 August 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ricardo Brand

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 1 August 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks one and all, with extra-special mad-skillz props to Trig Brother organizers, for a thoroughly enjoyable London outing. Still trying to detoxify from all the liquor embibed yesterday (wuss american, i know).

Congrats to Rob, pulling off a spectacular win for team NAFTA! A strong, fearless competitor was he, managing to piss off far fewer people than I in his bid for supremacy (sorry Dave! I've seen the error of my elitist ways and have donned a pair of shorts in your honor).

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 1 August 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I should bloody well hope so

Head still hurts (daveb), Sunday, 1 August 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I've jackpotted Pepsi Chart Quiz seven times in my life.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 1 August 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I too only have myself to blame for my early eviction - there was genuine anguish in my eviction cry of TOO MUCH META. I sang Here Comes The Hotstepper to myself as I left the pub.

Somehow, I managed to carry on drinking until 3am, and have still not recovered. Ph34r my 48-hr hangover.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 2 August 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Tee hee hee, in the end my recording session ended at 4pm, so I got to the pub and got to watch the Eviction Angst in glorious technicolour. It's astonishing how seriously people take it! (OK, they're drunk, but still!)

Next year, I shall play, and I shall make it my quest in life to be the first evictee! Mark my words!

(And I finally returned the Satan book to Mark S, what... THREE YEARS LATER....)

((That's not even the latest that I've returned someone their book, either, is the pathetic part...))

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 2 August 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Satan book rather good so far. Thanks Kate!

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 2 August 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i enjoyed saturday(well, until people started getting a bit mean at the very end back at the champion), and didn't even mind that much when i was evicted against anna, since we were obviously being punished for being so damn smooth.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 2 August 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oi! Jel!! I wanted that Clea CD but left it for the Grecian Earn fund - return it to Trig Brother else I will be very upset at the rest of my great records I had to leave behind! Waaah!

Sarah who has been logged out and can't remember her c#nting password and WHERE , Monday, 2 August 2004 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

My ILX Top Trump card was TEH RUB. The fact that it failed to win a single round of the game hurt me far more than my eviction.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats Rob! Good work!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Grudging congratulations to the Canadian minx. Bah first non-Sinister winner. I want to see these fabled TT cards.

We arrived after all the fun had been organised, but were too full of tasty Chinese food to care. Also I had a wild boar sausage in my handbag.

Pete (in a refreshed state) was drawing excellent crayon portraits on the bus home - I think Robster's going to scan our one and post it.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, I will return the Clea CD at the next ILX event I intend, or I could post it back. It just sorta ended up in my bag, honest guv ;)

This must be the first time in history that a Clea CD single has been coveted so. Foxy would be proud.

oh the TT cards, ha oh dear. 101, hmmm.

jel, Monday, 2 August 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

So, when are the headlines/scorecards going to be scanned and posted for our laughing viewing pleasure?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, please don't scan the headlines I wrote, please. Please?

jel, Monday, 2 August 2004 08:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The photos will be put up as soon as NTL can plug us into broadband at home, hopefully the end of the week.

I was a little refreshed too, so saw sense and piled home relatively early.

well done to all the competitors, there was some high comedy this time.

A certain competitor was robbed too, by the general public (not literally of course), no wonder Davina made me announce that one.

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

is rob dressed as a viking in that sketch?

koogs (koogs), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you Chris. Evicted for being the face of "sexy evil" bloody bar maid.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

robster and liz look like mary and joseph looking for a stable!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Apologies for being a rubbish Jon Tickle. The heat was getting to me, or something.

alix (alix), Monday, 2 August 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob - we did forget. I still have your photos.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

anna - how silly of me... yes - the glasto photos. damn you bouze! i'll have to snag them off you at some future FAP (which according to recent trends will probably be in about 1.7 days)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

so am i the first 'foreigner' to win the illustrious trig brother? first the canadian flags fly high above the mighty selfridges and now this! what other british institution will us wacky canucks infiltrate next?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, there were mutterings of xenophobic resentment regarding the two finalists i'm sure...or maybe it's just cos you weren't Sinisterites. i still think you should've been 'inconvenienced' for tardiness tho.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

alix (alix), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeh...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr Bolton was inconvenienced for being late, he was up for nomination because of it, can't remember which point though

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

for some reason i was hoping 'inconvenienced' would mean the removal of fingers or something. this was indicated subversively in the content of my top trump card.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 2 August 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob was up for nomination against starry and dave, when dave went.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 2 August 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

of course, Toiletgate

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 2 August 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

If I'd managed to stay past the third round I'd have been up for nomination for:

- Arriving late after being confused by Starry and Anna going into a different pub.
- Making an unlicenced toilet trip.
- Giving myself the second highest total on the Top Trump card (after Stevem, who was already out)

Frankly, it was a lucky escape - I couldn't have done with that sort of emotional rollercoaster. Also Trig Brother hates me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 2 August 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette, I'm calling you out.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 2 August 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm finding it hard adjusting back to real life...today was just so long and lonely.

Also, where did whoever get those pop-out animal shapes from? They are really nifty, I could use them in artistic projects.

Also, on a more general note, does anyone have any magazines with Pokemon pictures, as I could also use them for same artistic purpose!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 2 August 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

pop-out shapes were part of the glittery pens in a see-through satchel affair that was on the table.

could you not print out some of the thousands of pokemon pictures that adorn the modern internet?

koogs (koogs), Monday, 2 August 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I could do, but I has no printer, and am worried about printing out at work as our printing often goes of to some unknown printer due to network problems...

jel -- (jel), Monday, 2 August 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

hurrah, we're getting broadband tomorrow, and as long as I can sort out the wi-fi stuff, I should be able to scan in the top trumps, and type up some evicition interviews. (I only did them from Dave, did some other endimol bod do the first lot?)

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I got some quotes from Tom. I dunno who did Stevem and MDC.

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

As far as I'm aware no one interviewed me.
