Al'manach Oseni (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 8 August 2004 06:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ooooh! a shiny thing

gem (trisk), Sunday, 8 August 2004 07:09 (twenty-one years ago)

so bill oddie now has a nature show?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

rusholme ruffians. originally the meat is murder thread. but the top right link is an impatient reflex.

youn, Sunday, 8 August 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

As well as being a comedian and a songwriter, Bill Oddie is one of Britain's best known bird watchers.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Edward, do you know about this?

Scrabble Kerfuffle!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

col do YOU know about this?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I put my pointless two cents in. Need something to do during Idol commercial breaks, sad case that I am.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

who'd a thunk the battle for our ideological freedom extended to such? hooray for edward!

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my god. An Australian Idol contestant is singing "Glory Box". For god's sake, vote for Chanel.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

indie sellout

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

My indie past is coming back to haunt me. Fucking fuck.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

jus kiddin. you know i'm as indie as it gets

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:28 (twenty-one years ago)

On the other hand, I don't want this darling alternative flower to have to sing an awful song like Angels Bought Me Here, so perhaps she SHOULD lose.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

is she HOT edward?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

not even in an indie way?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Indie hot != hot.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

what this show really needs is Simon Cowell.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you offering yourself for the position?

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I could do it. Ahem. "That was amazing. Amazingly bad."

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard your Cowell. It's very good.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

the australian ilx idol show.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate Marcia. If I weren't a bit tone deaf I would be a great judge. I know what makes pop good.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i think we should set it up at....marrickville rsl!

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

yay!!!

Hows about when Marcia and that Mark Walton said the Portishead song was 'an unusual choice'. Grrrr.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it was, really. But it's the first proof that they actually get to pick their own song. I had always assumed that there was a "master list" of about 100-200 songs.

I mean who really likes "Angels" anyway in this country? It was released like four times and never made the top 40 and yet someone thinks it's worth picking!

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

true enough.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 8 August 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

chanel is fucking hot as, i won't hear a word against her, even if she is a bjork fan

purple patch (electricsound), Sunday, 8 August 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You mean that doesn't increase the appeal?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 August 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

no. but in a few weeks she will be every indie boy's (and probably quite a few girls) guilty pop crush

purple patch (electricsound), Sunday, 8 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

if she isn't already.

purple patch (electricsound), Sunday, 8 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Chanel is cute. I am identifying embarassingly with Ben. He's a goofy nerd. Like me. "Freedom" is my favourite pop single of all time. Won't vote for him though. I actually voted for Chanel making it my first actual vote on one of these shoes evah.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 8 August 2004 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe you're all watching Idol. I'm disappointed in all of you!

PS why the fuck does it say something like "and the Osama lama" under that Goodies drawing!?

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce i have NEVER watched Idol.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-b-but Chanel?!

purple patch (electricsound), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh dont mind me, I'm in a funny mood. Last night there was a fascinating show on architecture on ABC and they touched on modernist Aust stuff, and I was struck by how beautiful a lot of Canberras buildings are. And also struck by how, in effect, I grew up in a giant leafy modern artwork, and it totally never ocurred to me to think of it as special.

I'm now homesick, and I feel very odd.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

PS why the fuck does it say something like "and the Osama lama" under that Goodies drawing!?

-- Trayce

Yes, that's a very good question. Does anyone know?

Only Canberra would have government public housing this pretty.

http://www.canberrahouse.com.au/images/ToadHall.jpg

... and student residence halls this ugly (ahhh, Toad Hall).

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

those dorms look a LOT like the dorms i lived in whilst at school. i'm imagining that they were built in the 60s/70s?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.canberrahouse.com.au/images/8monaro2.jpg

Lots of huge windows and very square modernist lines. It screams Canberra. Funny I never noticed it before.

http://www.canberrahouse.com.au/images/northbourne6.jpg

My friends used to live in this shitty block.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

The Toad Hall dorms? Yeah 1970s :)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

You should be the new PM and then the land will redound with the calls of Liz Fraser. And "Postcards for sale!" I don't know why.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahah :D

Now you see, YOU know I like the Cocs - why is everyone else saying I remind them of Bloody Ministry and Type O Negative (both whom I cant stand?) *cries*.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I know not, dear Trayce! Perhaps people are curious. To solve this problem, well, one you lock the target...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Aww! OK heres another funky pic to make up for it ;)

http://www.zone3act.com.au/zone3photos/canberra_general_pics/images/carillion_jpg.jpg

Canberra has the largest carillion in the world apparently (I never knew this - it is facking huge tho). Its one of the coolest and weirdest buildings ever. And it can play some beautiful bell tunes - the lake really adds to the sound somehow.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Now you see, YOU know I like the Cocs - why is everyone else saying I remind them of Bloody Ministry and Type O Negative (both whom I cant stand?) *cries*.

and both bauhaus and christian death ... mustn't forget them! :-)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 9 August 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

colin liked to get a spurt in his mouth

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah it was cool!

Im having such dreadful nostalgia attacks lately, its weird.

Whither:

- spurt chewy
- Toobs (those sort of bbqish cheezel shaped things)
- big M scented hoola hoops
- "B" sized batteries
- those iceblooks that had spooky pics on them that only showed when you warmed up the wrapper
- SUNNYBOYS (Tripod were singing about them the other night, hah)(I mean the iceblock not the band)

And so on, in that fashion.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck that was a VERY BAD xpost. Oh dear.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

what would happen if you were sucking down some gary before having a spurt?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

A very strange taste, thats for sure.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

exactly!

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ts: sunnyboy vs raz

gaz (gaz), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha exactly gaz, when tripod sang about Sunnyboys, I was a) amazed my bf who is only 21 remembered them too, they must still be about I guess; b) thinking Raz were better.

Esp when you got a FREE. WHich I never did :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i gots heaps of frees! but i ate shiteloads of them. do they still have frees?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i got a few FREEs! shopkeeper were annoyed if you took a free into their shop but you never bought the first one there.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahah I never tried that trick ;D

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Whither: FAGS. The proper kind - chocolate sticks wrapped in cig paper, and the musk stick kind?

Nowadays theyre called FADS and dont have the red icing dot on the end, because that looks too much like cigarettes.Ooooh.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to like big boss cigars too. now they're just purple sticks. boooring.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to eat a pack of fags a day and to this day have never put a cigarette in my mouth. So the idea that they encouraged kids to smoke by associating the shape with candy goodness is a load of pants.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I got in trouble once when mum dropped me off to basketball cos someone handed out a pack of the chocolate-and-paper Fags and I had one and mum saw me as she drove off and thought it was real cigs and wouldnt believe me :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

she was eventually vindicated though

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Bahahah. Well... yeah.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

(I didnt start smoking til I was about 28. I'm weird).

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Also! What ever happened to Crazy Critters?

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:13 (twenty-one years ago)

What were they again? They ring a bell but ... I cant remember...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember going to the general store in Mossy Point on our hols and buying a paper bag full of lollies for 10 cents.

Ah them was the days.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It says 'and the Osama lamp,' and there's a picture of Osama bin Laden coming out of a genie's lamp. Not sure what that has to do with The Goodies. I suspect the bloke doing the chalk drawings was on happy pills when he did it.

Al'manach Oseni (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 9 August 2004 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

neither have i, i suspect they are probably tuneless and fun to their mates but rubbish to everyone else. but as i haven't heard them it's difficult to say. my gf thought they were ok and she has pretty good taste.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Talk shit. Use phrases like "grow the brand" and "ebitda" and "financial outgoings" a lot. Wave your hands around heaps. Talk fast so everyone just zones out and doesnt notice anything.

Alternate approach: take notebook (paper or PC) and doodle on it lots - everyone'll assume youre taking notes.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

your stationery cupboard sounds heaps better than ours, it has some purple highlighters and postits that are so old they don't stick anymore. sometimes there are teabags, not very often though. NEVER any bikkies! bloody public service. my ambition is to get a job with a neverending supply of monte carlos in the tea room.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Also: when someone moves your cheese, you need to find new cheese somewhere else. Never, ever, ask who moved your cheese.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

hey gem I'm in the public disservice too.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

are there biscuits in your stationery cupboard?

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh ferfuckssake do they pull that wheres the cheese bulltwang speech in EVERY company? Its the stupidest analogy ever. You must chase the cheese (implied: because we're gonna keep taking it off you! Ahahaha!)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I have now given myself a horror vision of Peter Russel Clarke as my manager. AAAAAAAAAAAGH *tears eyes out*

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

g'day!

Peter Russell-Clarke (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ahahahaaaaaa whatever happened to him anyway? has he gone to some kind of retirement home for full-face beards?

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

apparently he mainly does cooking demonstrations for private companies and suchlike

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

and writes cookbooks

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

cooking demonstrations for private cooking companies?

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

no, gas and fuel

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn! My cheese magically vanished. Oh well, I am but a humble mouse. Unable to see beyond my maze, I have no conception of forces beyond it which may or may not be responsible for moving the cheese. All I can do is run around my maze writing self-help slogans on the wall.

You know what? I'm an ex-psychologist. I diagnose the author of that book as having a narcissistic personality. What's worse, his condition is endorsed as a management tool. And he is a management tool;. Oh yeah, and he can't write for shit.

A manager has been reading it - probably the first metaphor using book he's read since school - and I asked if I could borrow it - I was going to 'accidentally' lose it, haha! He mentioned the cheese metaphor, and what a good metaphor it was; I replied that yes, I like a bit of cheese myself! He said, yes yes, it's a metaphor for change management, and I replied, have you tried any of those strong French cheeses??

Anyway, I know where the cheese is. It's in author Spencer Johnson's brain. It's mozzarella, and it fills his skull completely.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the trick is to hide the cheese, for example inside a tuna and cheese sandwich.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Or cut it. Thus sending everyone else running away, so you get the office to yourself. Winner!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Or become a big cheese yourself. Then people just move you around.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Who Moved My Cheese asks the question: "Is all change always good?"
We answer: "Is it fuck"

Al'manach Oseni (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

We do indeed. Stay the fuck away from my cheese or I'll bite ya.

A friend has taken pity on us, come over and is cooking us dinner. I borrowed $8 from a guy at work and we spent it on a bottle of wine.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

my ambition is to get a job with a neverending supply of monte carlos in the tea room.

I had a job like that! They had FREE BEER after 5 pm too!!

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

should i believe you? i have come to conclude that those jobs are ephemeral and out of my reach. or perhaps mere urban myth.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, ephemeral for sure, the work dried up after a month. :(

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

sucks.

ah wednesday. day of princes and humping.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

on occasion. thursdays are generally better.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

princes and humping????

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

it's hump day. and it can't be the day of kings because that would be saturday.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

well gee.. if it gets any more lively in here a funeral's going to break out

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Hihi! Mr Mole. How is like in the bottom of the world?

Sami Jherllykayngya, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah I badly want another one of those stupid conversations. May have to set up a new email account. Are you in? We could argue about whether Danish cakes are better than Swedish cakes.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha

col: you dont need to be registered.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

wot the hell is that link? Apparently it takes 12 mins to download.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

it is an animation real life vs the internet. acted out by animated robots. i dunno if theres a thread on it. 12 mins!!! where are you: on dial up???

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm on the work broadband and it told me 12 min too

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

its 21 mb. its worth it! honest!

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Its 21 mb but whatever server it is hosted on is only running at about 60k/s which isnt that great - i should be able to dload it in 20 seconds or so (I'm on a gigabit ethernet backbone... nyahh) but it said it would take 6 minutes or so for me too.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

poor little thread, it's lost

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

new buffalo were SOOOO good last night. shining lights in this often mediocre australian music scene.

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

what kinda music do they play jim?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I am jealous! Ever since Tim suggested I buy the one EP that was out I have enjoyed them. Is there an album now?

Mole -- they're Avalanches proteges of sorts, I gather.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 August 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it's quite gentle, pretty female-fronted stuff, maybe imagine saint etienne trying to "do" portishead? but with a little more of an indiepop bent.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the album is a few weeks away. judging by the new songs it will be a cracker, up there with the cut copy album..

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

what's with all these "people who are dicks" topics? doesn't seem like cricket

gem (trisk), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Well it would be cricket if they were talking about umpire Dick Bird. But yes, I see your point.

Thanks for the info Ned and jim.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope New Buffalo haven't changed directions too much (one gets the feeling that The Avalanches approahc is very "out" right now), i'd love a whole album in the vein of the EP.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that would be nice. I think once I finish listening to this bemusing disc I received today (from an ILXor!), I shall listen to that EP -- and thank you again for suggesting it!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a lot less use of samples in the live stuff, but that's not to say the record will be that way. the songwriting has gotten stronger.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm getting into a mad bastard called Rank Sinatra. He does evil, demonic covers of classic pop tunes.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

did i mention v/vm last time we spoke?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

man i haven't listened to any of my v/vm stuff in ages. i wonder what i would get if i sold the lot? there's a good 40-odd records there.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It rings a bell?

http://teenage.cz/pictz/ranksinatra.jpg

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think you really need all 40 jim, somehow.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i'd probably be ok just hanging onto the "sick love" cd and the loin el ritchie 45 and selling the rest. particularly the 8 different colours of vinyl for "snooker loopy", none of which i have ever played.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah sick love. the lady in red (is dancing with meat) (is that what its called?)

col i was describing lionel richie to you at the edward mini fap.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah and all night long (butcher all night) which is k-classic

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

thats the track!

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

aha!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

now what?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Now we dine on the flesh of our American cousins.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god... my back... its killing me... gahhh...

Ive been in a brain-drain 5 hour workshop/documentation session to work over various of our products to help the guys who are stealing our jobs... my back is sore as, and I feel exhausted.

Whine whine whinge. Could sure use a bevvy.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

every time I see the name of Trayce's email account I get a little thrill.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooer matron.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i was hoping for a booze free evening but now i'm not so sure.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a booze free Monday and Weds. I may or may not have one or 2 wines after work... see how I go, innit.

Meanwhile, am larfing head off at Calums OMG YOU EAT KANGAROO YOU SICK FUCK comment. I mean.. umm... huh? If he's such a PETA-fukka, why doesnt he know about roos being pests and the like?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 05:30 (twenty-one years ago)

link us to 'Kangaroo' Calum's comment please Trayce.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 06:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hehe yes please link! does calum think kangaroos are little cuddly things that are all lovable and follow you around like skippy?

gem (trisk), Thursday, 12 August 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The only kangaroo I ever met stole my vegemite sandwich. And yet I've still never ordered kangaroo off a menu. I will now though.

edward o (edwardo), Thursday, 12 August 2004 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

loads of vicious kangaroos live on the golf course near my mum and dad's place, it made stumbling home drunk as a teenager a bit more exciting/newsworthy i can tell you. i don't like kangaroo meat though, it's a bit gamy

gem (trisk), Thursday, 12 August 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Ever since I discovered the delights of dining on kangaroo I have had a spring in my step.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 06:39 (twenty-one years ago)

That israeli funny.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ullo jim. What's going on in your world?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

beer. a new relationship. paying off recording and saving up for mastering.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, the joys of meeting a woman and discovering her ways. Have you ever considered going for an OzCo grant?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

ozco? whuzzat? a grant would be nice.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Australia Council - Music Fund.

http://www.ozco.gov.au/

I mean, while this country has no Medici family, consider this as an option.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

ooooh

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, just had a look. the grants won't do me no good. even the promotion and presentation grant doesn't kick in til may next year. might be ok for the next album though.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hullo fux0rs, whassup?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG ITS FRIDAY THE 13TH HOW DID I MISS THIS!?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Here you go Trayce, here's your Fri 13th gig - if you can make it to Syd of course:

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

What madness is this?

Now we dine on the flesh of our American cousins.

Man.

Now, Trayce, provide the Calum link!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Good god, *thats* what Dead inside the Chrysalis look like? WTF? Are they trying to be manga-Insane Clown Posse?

Some of my friends like that band... I'm disowning them all now. Bloody goths.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

They are the loveliest people on earth, I have met them. And yes, they are trying to be a manga ICP, but with a bit of Motley Crue thrown in too. And Alice Cooper of course.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Fair enough. I'm very puzzled at this sudden surge in all my goth friends of frenzied love for Alice Cooper, Crue, Gunners, the Misfits, Poison, etc etc. I swear to god these girls never mentioned metuhl 2 years ago, but mysteriously, when all those "ironic" metal tees and big hair and studded belt Dangerfield style outfits appeared, all of a sudden its away with the black, and in with the hot pink and stripes and brand new KISS tshirt.

It kinda weirds me out. Dunno why. I'm sounding like Alex in NYC now arent I? haha.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha yes. I even see a guy in Sydney from time to time with long blond hair, denim jeans, leather jacket, headband - he looks exactly like Axl Rose circa 1990. He's just this guy, you know, walking around the streets. I have never seen anything like it, not even in 1990. He belongs in LA.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

He's just this guy, you know, walking around the streets.

what, he's, like, homeless?

gaz (gaz), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he has a home. But he is also at large.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

He walks the streets of this city

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Where the whisky is cheap and the girls are pretty

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Won't someone taaake hiyum hooooome?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

this may not be the thread to say this but what the fuck ... THANK YOU FOR RECOMMENDING METAMATIC COLIN, I JUST GOT IT ON CD AND IT KICKS ASS!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 13 August 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG Col that sounds like the ex of this girl I know called Deb. What was that guys name she was with? Ahh cant remember. Anyway he had that Axl look, he did. Not in a bogany way - in a rokstah way. Always wondered why a v attractive goth girly was dating an Axl-a-like. Shes not with him now tho, mind.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Because he was a spunk! That's a good enuff reason intit?

Hey Eisbar, glad you like it!!! I'm jealous, my dad sold my vinyl a year ago at a Bondi fete for a dollar each. All the albums and singles went. Bye bye John Foxx.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm Trayce there's no chance it could be the same guy?? Cos he's been spotted at goth haunts in Syd.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

If thats the case then yeah, I bet any money it is him. Did you ever see him maybe 2-3 years ago with a petite v attractive goth girly with one arm?

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(god that sounds like the setup for some bad joke, heh)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't recall. He has a motorbike and attends gothy gigs.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:33 (twenty-one years ago)

And he was at the Full Moon Festival of Gothiness.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah thats probably him, by the sounds of it. Heh small world.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

imagine if hes out there now, reading this

troughman (gaz), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you think he'd be offended?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah he'd be thinking "whos this beeyotch and how's she know Deb?"

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is he in a band? Like, if he's not the singer in a band, then the whole package is incomplete in my view.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I... dont know! I'll have to ask my friend Dom. He knows this guy, see. Its a complicated web of six degrees gothiness and roleplaying horror, with a little Gunnners mixed in.

Stay tuned next week.

Sami Jherllykanynyga, Saturday, 14 August 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I am suppose you see me wreak mayhem on Mono thread, Sami? For I spare no quarter and though they affected to amusement and fun to make, no doubt there was fear in their hearts.

Janne Karlsson (colin s barrow), Saturday, 14 August 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

theu are called mono boards for nothing i think not Janne. Link the thread with hypertext here and i will be sure to check it in.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 15 August 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

We have heat and not snow! But more and more people are looking forward to the approach of the Di. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 August 2004 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

What I wouldn't give to be in Dunedin right now.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 15 August 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I go back to bed now? kthxbye.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 15 August 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but Trayce...its monday.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 15 August 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

today i woke up to the sound of people outside cheerily pelting passing cars, buses and each other with snowballs. it was festive! i want to give you all a hearty bowl of pumpkin soup. cos you are all pumpkins.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but Trayce...its monday.

What? Am I supposed to be full of vim on a monday? WELL I'M BLOODY NOT I'M FACKIN EXHAUSTED I HATE MONDAYS RARRGH.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What that last ejaculation one of anger, or did you actually vomit?

Lurex is having fun and it's not fair. My daughter has never even seen snow.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Sydney I can understand, but it amazes me how many Melbournians have never seen snow. We live a two hour drive from snow ffs.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

There's your problem right there. Everyone in Melbourne is catching trams to Brunswick Street or the CDB to check out their city's excellent nightlife, or to buy locally produced art from their friends' shops, or drink Melbourne's superior coffee and moan about how crap Sydney is. Who has time to drive out into the snow?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

PROOF: We have a place called Footscray, which is a scary hole. Sydney is like a giant Footscray.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, forgot: :)

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

*extra large hearty bowl of pumpkin soup for trayce, in hopes that it cures mondayitis*

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

it doesn't snow in melbourne?

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

no

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You do get plenty of cold drizzle though?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. much.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

and it is dark for 23 hours out of the day?

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

In Footscray, yes.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm having a deja vu!

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

and it is dark for 23 hours out of the day?

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish we had snow now. i also wish that i had enough money to live in the northern hemisphere when it is fall and autumn there (sept-march), and in the southern hemisphere when it is fall and autumn there (march-sept).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Melbourne has been 14 every day since May, except yesterday when it was 9. Sick to death of being cold.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i love winter.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Winter is cool.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

autumn and fall tad? what about winter?

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

MMmmm soup! Di I love you.

Bah you wussbags Melbourne is not COLD. Try a winter that never goes above 10 degrees in the day and is well below zero most nights, making the pipes freeze so you get no shower in the morning and have to leave the heater on all night and get huge gas bills. And no real snow to speak of, just loads of frost.

Sometimes I miss Canberra *sniff*.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow Ive crapped on abt Canberra a lot lately havent I? I really dont miss the place that much - it'd take ten mins back iat my parents and I'd wanna run screaming.

So how was eveeryones weekend? Me, I played drunken Scene It! and Pictionary with Nick, Dom and B, and we were up til 5am like bad little vegemites, and I spent all y'day asleep and/or zombified as a result... getting too old for this, etc.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, i thought it was lastnight.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Spent the whole weekend chasing the little bear around the house and playground.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

xx: Yay!, no you're not, &c.

Mine was nine days long, and I did nothing but play Morrowind and watch television. Today some work's due at uni that I haven't done because I've been too busy wasting time, and I don't care.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i watched a school production of Fame The Musical in a country town. it was better than expected. driving to the end of the peninsula in saturday's rain was less than enjoyable however.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:10 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds perfect jim.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Local theatre groups put on excellent productions. Once you carve your way through the hordes of grannies who answer aloud any question an actor asks herself/himself, there's some hugely rewarding stuff to see.

No really, they do.

Actor: But... what have I done? Should I run to him and beg forgiveness?
92871391237 grannies: Oooooh yeeeeesh, yeeeeesh

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:14 (twenty-one years ago)

you're terrible, Muriel

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

haha thats great. old people and kids: they've got it sussed.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone seen Waiting for Guffman? It does for amateur theatre productions what Spinal Tap does for rock bands. By the same team that did Spinal Tap, too, I think.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Actor: Is it... a sudden yet advantageous change of destiny... which I have foreseen?
92871391237 grannies: Oooooh no, no, no, no
Actor: Does it presage... bad things to come?
92871391237 grannies: Oooooh no, no, no, no

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

take it! taaake it!

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahah wtf Adam! That sounds excellently hilarious, like a pepperpot lady skit.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactly like a pepperpot lady skit. Forsooth, 'tis an experience to behold.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh gawd, the eternal whingers of the team are whinging again now our review/payrise things have come out. (still waiting on mine - dont really care how it goes, not going to be here much longer for it to matter)

All I can hear is "but but HOW can I have got THIS when here it says THIS... I DONT GET IT... why have I..." (rpt ad infinitum) and wtf she's crying or something too. God.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh fuck her. At least she gets fucking review/payrise things.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Im starting to get paranoid i havent been told what my new pay is yet... THEY FORGOT ME OMGWTF

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

btw "payrise" in this case will probably equal like, $15 a week so its nothing to write home about.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

what makes you write home trayce?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Fucking $15 more than I've had in the past four years.

Yeah yeah I'll shut up.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Mum,

Today I got a $20 p.w. payrise and instantly thought of you. How are you? How's dad? How's Beakbeak's nose?

Love,

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Beer on me?! But ... I'll smell bad! *pout*

Yeah Jim ffs you earn twice what I do ;P My payrise now puts me in line with a McDonalds junior manager probably (NB I am possibly not kidding). I earn fuckall considering I need to know so much technical shite.

Hmm... drinks.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it all depends where you put the emphasis in jim's last statement. Where you put the emphasis radically changes the meaning.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

*re-reads*

er, help us out?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

No, far better that I get me coat.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I'm having none of that, as I'm well known for my prudish attitudes.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU HORRID MAN. Why, I am inclined to berate you for your ways of emotional and sensual self-deprivation in the name of some 'higher' cause that you dreamed up over a dinner of roast kangaroo and wallaby ice cream.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I was drunk with marsupial blood.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

*cries (and writes LiveJournal entry about itOH, BUGGER*

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha, I win. (And now I sleep, but I'm sure all you astonishing people will make merry at my expense in my absence. Fine, fine, I CARE NOT. *cries anyway*)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a secret that Trayce is a goth?

Farewell merry Ned.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Shoosh Col, or everyone will catch on! ;)

Adieu fair Nedsicles!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned I had thought better of you. I had held your inspiring manhood tightly with my clenched yet trembling fist as lone pure strength in a country befouled by decadence and drunkedness. You were the inspiration for my song "America stand long and hard against babylon"

i weep now.

And if you pike then you can get

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

My son, I have tried meditation
Exercise, and emigration
There was nothing I didn’t try
Yet none of these could get me high

Like my old friend the dealer could
Just find a dealer, son, you should!
There’s always someone here or there
To soothe you with illegal fare

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr Seuss did strange things to my brane many years ago.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I do not like it, Phiz I is,
I do not like this E's and wizz!
I will not have it on a plane
Or in a club, or down a drain
I will not eat it with a spoon
These E's and wizz, they are for goons.

Now where the fuck's me ganja?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I really could have tried harder with thta one but you get the idea.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

keep em coming!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Why lionise our sporting stars?
Did any shoot us to the stars?
Did Thorpie, Dawn or Donald Bradman
Make us feel so high and glad, man?

And did our stateman - Lyons and Menzies
Drive us into Dionysian frenzies?
No, not at all, that accolade
Is sole preserve of the man we paid

To get us high; and so I pray
There there be a holiday!
On Dealers Day, we'll gather round
And to each dealer, give thanks profound

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh no Pause tonight, I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds like the worst cop-out.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

And why stop there? We could have prayer!
For is sincerity not rare
When people come to pray at church
To God, who left them in the lurch?

A dealer on the other hand
Will always give a helping hand
And that is why, as sure is sure
You'll find a dealer around the poor

In every church, on bended knees
Pray to the dealer, if you please!
For unlike God, he has the wares
That are the answer to our prayers

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

And that is why, sheepfuxor friends
My praise of dealers will not end;
And though you all have clearly gone
My witless rhyming carries on.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:05 (twenty-one years ago)

it's still making me laff colin

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Haahah Colin that sounds like a Snog lyric ;)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:10 (twenty-one years ago)

If those lyrics do not end up being RELEASED somewhere, it will be a crime against humanity. It suggests a sort of faux-Kraftwerk sort of vibe to me.

From hereon, Adam shall be known as Pikey McPike Pike.

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurray! Not me for a change!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, it reads like the lyrics to a Cursor Miner track too!

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh bolshy yarblockos to you all.

That's brilliant Col.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Where the fuck is Footscray? I've lived in Melbourne since I was five (before then, Moe) and I have only the barest idea of where Footscray is. I guess that shows me for the eastern suburbs toffee-nosed shitpike I am.

FAP? Sometime soon? I have more of a life these days, I can actually get out without wading through a pile of assignments.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

there never was a one so droll

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Where the fuck is Footscray?

Directly west of the city. It's a major... thing. I dunno. There's a major train station and loads of crime.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it like Sydney's Blacktown?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, this thread was pretty impressive last night, you witty fux0rs

I was going to say, good stuff. :-)

Right now I'm excited because Di might play a show with Chaki when she visits LA! You know that will be the concert of the year!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

wow

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean wow!

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

gig in LA with chaki = worst nerves ever.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

pictures must be posted of gig and throughout trip of course

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

my lovely mum is lending me her digital camera so i will definitely post photos.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah!

Now tell me, what should I listen to on the way to work. Spacemen 3's Translucent Flashbacks (it is raining) or something lievelier?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

go the livelier. i almost fell asleep on the train this morning.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i've never heard spacemen 3. they're mentioned in a juliana hatfield song tho. i think you should listen to slade, "slayed?"

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

If I had Slade, they would be going straight into the CD player. I don't even have The Darkness.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

do you have the sweet or sparks?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

or suzi quatro?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Only the latter lady, on vinyl. Damn, even all the Wendy O Williams is on vinyl.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

any seals & croft?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it like Sydney's Blacktown?

Yeah. Footscray's probably the Blacktownest place in Melbourne.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

gig in LA with chaki = worst nerves ever

Fear not, you will see that there is no need to suffer from nerves around the Good Mr. Chaki and his friends. :-)

You have not heard Spacemen 3! And you are coming to visit Chris and myself, well we shall correct this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

so what in the way of livelier music do you have on cd, colin?

ned there are SOOOO MANY vast chasms in my musical experience. i am sure chaki and his friends would do their best to not give me the fear, however i am one nervey fucker.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ned there are SOOOO MANY vast chasms in my musical experience.

Nonsense, I have just as many I am sure, about many things! We can't know everything. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

also beware that ned raggett Di! he is a scary fucker

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

love will get you in the end, as brian may sang.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

but enough! when are you due out Di?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

in LA or aussie? i haven't organised the aussie thing yet, i reckon it'll happen sometime after march next year. i do LA from the 18th til the 23rd of october, after that i'm headed for tucson with chris and jbr... will be hanging with justyn dillingham out there. there are plans involving the grand canyon, las vegas, elvis impersonators and trick-or-treating. i'm a little vague about what's happening in november but i really really want to go to mexico. i'm due to fly out of LA on the 29th of november.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds great! not too far off now.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I went with Spacemen 3. It definitely worked with the rain.

My b/f thought the Darkness were a joke, and he was very upset when he found out they're serious. He thinks its very wrong.

Me, I just think hair metal/glam is a bit ... eh, its not my thing. It has too many associations with year 9 and bogan chicks.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

My b/f thought the Darkness were a joke

So did I! I saw that clip where they're standing on the cliff face being all '80s cock rock, and thought it was some sketch comedy show.

Isn't The Darkness supposed to be nu-goth or something?

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

goth? eh?!

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I kept hearing The Darkness was goth for the 21st century or some gubbins.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

no that's the rasmus

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, so why is The Darkness so popular then? In spite of good taste and common sense, does the world actually need more '80s cock rock?

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

rubbish argument. does the world actually need more of any style of music?

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i think they're popular cos the tunes are rather good

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

its kind of like the world didn't really need spinal tap, eh? the bands and scene themselves were already that funny.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I should listen to music before bagging it in future, hey?

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Their shirts are.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

but i don't like laughing AT people

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh hey when Nick said they were a joke he didnt mean "god theyre a joke", he meant he thought they were doing a comedy thing, like Spinal Tap. He was baffled as to why anyone'd want to make such histronic, operatic glam metal music these days. I can see his point, but dont agree really - though I dont care for their music myself, in the same way I dont much care for Queen or Slade even though I can see why other people do.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they walk the line, don't they? Like Laibach or Judas Priest -right in that zone between totally serious and totally ridiculous. I myself love that zone.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

although Laibach and Judas P never had the nostalgia thing. I mean, i love that zone too...but i think the nostalgia schtick defeats it.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

has that zone been a direct influence on the cherrys?

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Like Laibach or Judas Priest -right in that zone between totally serious and totally ridiculous.

Thats a good way of looking at it. I'd tentatively put TISM in such a category as well - I know theyre a right pisstake but musically they seem pretty serious (ahaha... I made a funny.)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh. Yeah, for all its insistence to the contrary, TISM's very serious about its music. Somewhere there's an interview with Humphrey [the only candid TISM interview in existence I think] which says as much.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, here we go.

God this work situation is messing with me head.

A date... you want me to plan this thing? Gah... that involves me being organised! I shall have to think on it. Maybe this weekend. Maybe next?

Nice Jim. Now get a picture of the camera so we can see it ffs.

Speaking of, how are your new spex going?

Good! I don't get headaches anymore, and I don't hold books right up against my face on the tram like a big tardo.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of which, last night I had a dirty big fight with a tram driver. Should I dob him in?

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

what happened? i suggest you write a letter to his wife in girly handwriting admitting to having an affair with him.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Really gurly handwriting requires that you put little circles rather thn dots above the i's.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Long story, but a tram went the wrong way and everyone had to get off and catch the next one. When I tried to tell the next driver what was going on, he SCREAMED at me. 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE.' Never mind that I'd been on the tram a whole two seconds; you can't GET behind the line in that time, and even when I WAS behind the line, he still kept yelling 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' at me. I got the shits and made a crack about his attitude, and he kept ranting like a mental while I went to the back of the tram. Obv he was just having a bad day, but that's no way to treat a passenger who's just trying to be helpful.

Anyway, pretty much the whole carriage was laughing at him, tosser. I think he yelled at a few more passengers after that.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

He may well have taken that tram on a rampage. Along the usual route.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE' 'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE'

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Tram staff are psychos. The old days, when we still had connies, there was this guy on the 69 (or 3, one of the Carlisle st routes) who had one of those sit in a booth connie jobs. He was always piss-drunk. He was a red faced 40something russian guy and it was hilarious.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

wots a connie?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

conductor

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

= gumby

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought gumbys were inspectors?

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ach, sorry. Conductor. What they used to have on trams to collect your fare - some would walk up n down the tram with a little leather cash baggie handing out tickets, and some had a sort of booth thing in the centre of the tram that they sat in and you went up to to buy your ticket. It was great, you could buy a ticket even if you didnt have coins/change, and they could check everyone so people didnt scam free rides.

Then they fired them all and installed these stupid automatic ticket scanning machines and a coin operated ticket dispensing jobbie on each tram, so of course 50% of the people who get on dont buy a ticket, and no one can when the machines are broken, and M-Tram are losing money by the bucketload and gee, I wonder why.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder what happened to the red faced hilarious 40something russian guy...

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, and now, to combat all the people getting free rides because they can, they've employed a million inspectors to check that people aren't stealing rides.

So, in order to cut the tremendous cost of employing tram conductors, they were replaced with a $9342857394857934 ticketing system that doesn't work, PLUS 2389748234 new inspectors to cover holes in the new ticketing system that doesn't work. Meanwhile, all the old conductors lost their jobs and died on the streets or something.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Darn tootin. I dont buy tickets half the time, sod them. Mind you I got fined the other week. Still, I reckon Ive saved more than $100 in fares anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I buy tickets because, well, they're taking me places. Not that the machines actually work half the time.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I buy tickets most of the time - but this whole having to have change, and lots of it, shits me. Theres nowhere near me to easily buy a ticket from a shop on the way to the tram, and yeah half the time the machine is busted.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Same. The whole thing's just fucked.

Last year I had a massive argument with the Metcard people. I bought a monthly ticket [$85-odd] that didn't print the date on the card due to a faulty machine, so I called and asked if I could get fined because the date's not on there, and they said 'yes.' So, I sent it in for a replacement, and had to spend MORE money on tickets to cover myself in the interim; the Metcard office in the city wouldn't do it on the spot, and told me to post it to that office. Yes, the very same office I was standing in.

Anyway, a few days later Metcard sent me three weekly tickets as a replacement. That's 21 days. The faulty ticket I sent them had 26 days left on it. They ripped me off five days.

I called and asked for my full amount back please. The bloke on the other end tried to tell me I was only entitled to 21 days, because weekend travel is considered free. No, I'm not joking. That's exactly what he said. He even asked me how many days I would have travelled, and tried to argue that I wouldn't have used all 26 days anyway. After many, many demands and threats of taking it to a higher body, they reimbursed me properly.

All this because THEIR machine was faulty. Fucking unbelievable.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I should have got the 'weekends are considered free' bit in writing, so I'd have a lifetime of free weekend travel as endorsed by a Metcard official.

'GET BEHIND THE LINE GET BEHIND THE LINE'

was your driver andrew w.k.?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG Adam you should have written to the Age or something about that - thats fucked! So let me get their logic right: if we give you a monthly, the weekends dont count cos hey, who travels on a tram on weekends? oh but if you *do* get on a tram on the weekend you better pay for it.

I have a friend who took to court (and won) against the Met for a ticketing issue, so he'd be very interested in your story.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

So do I!

Uh oh, I bet we have the same friend.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Check your gmail.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, wait until gmail's back up, then check it.

Sigh.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit stupid gmail!

Would his name be L*v by any chance?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. Oh well.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh. Wouldnt have suprised me if it was anyway, he seems to know everyone.

God whats with gmail, I seriously have to click refresh about 4 times every time I log in to get it to display anything.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't check my gmail from this computer - browser not supported grrr hate kill etc.

Fair enough.

I guess a more relevant question would be: WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU USING IE

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

SOME OF US HAVE NO CHOICE THANKS TO WORK PCS BEING SHITE KTHXSHUTUP.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I know. I just don't get why anyone still uses IE.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Well indeed. But its all about licencing - nothing to do with wether its any *good*, innit. Corps dont care (or even KNOW) about shit like that. They know MS do licensing that they're stuck with cos of what they paid, or some shit, and thats that.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I know. I just don't get why anyone still uses IE.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Is grass green? Is the sky blue? Is Sydney superficially attractive but really quite smelly? Does the Queen employ a servant to wipe her arse? Is Bert's head bigger this year?

Continuing in my increasingly irritating habit of posting links from mono over here, I bring you the gothic parents homepage:

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Mozilla, frankly, isnt that much better than IE - it crashes a lot under win98, I dont much care for tabbed browsing, and there are some things it seems to have trouble supporting... also its GUI is a bit funny-lookin.

Still, it *is* better than IE. Thats like saying Lathams bettr than Howard though, so .. yeah.

meh. So over everything ARGHH. Sorry if I seem bitchy.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

firefox is ok but when you consider many sites are far from optimised for it, it hardly feels like any real improvement. in fact the only thing i genuinely like about it is the tabs.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't believe it actually is appreciably better than IE. and please don't bleat to me about security.

Who cares! Nice link :) (xpost)

Adam - its a P3, and up til recently only had 128mb ram. I know damn well XP would fall over and die on it, so it stays with 98, which is very stable for the most part. It only seems to die when Nick programs on it but thats cos he's addressing DirectX memory shit and 98 doesnt handle that well.

XP on my lappy is lovely. Next to never misses abeat.

That's fantastic Col. Seriously, I'll get stacks of use out of that.

Trayce, you can't blame Windows 98 because Firefox won't run on it. That's like me blaming you for the death of swing in the '60s.

WHAAAAAT?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim, you're going to be waving a huge sword in the video and screaming "I HAVE THE POWER," right? At that one bit where the Wagnerian horn section comes in and you make your guitar sound like a screaming Valkyrie come to wreak vengeance on the damned?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I never said firefox "wont run" on 98 - just that it seems a little more unstable than IE on 98. Its fine on XP as far as I can ascertain, but sometimes it does behave oddly.

ANYWAY.

Its not so bad having teef pulled when theyre normal. You'll have a sore gob for a while after the jabs wear off tho.

Eiffel? Surely no one actually USES Eiffel in day to day work? I remember an ex doing it in his CompSci degree. I thought everyone did shit in C++ and Java nowdays.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I had giggle gas when I was a kid, having fillings. I hallucinated, though I didnt know thats what it was at that age (I mean everythings a trip when yr 10, innit). My arms detatched from my shoulders and rotated in front of me, while the PA in the ceiling was playing "Calling Occupants" by the Carpenters. I am not making this up.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Apples!? Heh! No idea here. I love sleep-outbursts. Nick was reciting C code or 3d studio max shit of some kind in his sleep once. When I told him he was all excited and asked me what it was, in case he'd worked something out, but it was all g(r)eek to me.

Then there was the time he started singing "la laaa... la la laa!" in this little-kids voice. So hilarious.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

a hiloyda

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 19 August 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Once I did bar work at a Desperate & Dateless Ball, and within 10 minutes of people arriving and summarily dumping their matches, women were swarming the bar asking us for a date. Two hours and much beer later, dozens of them were approaching us for 'a fuck.' If we could have obliged, we wouldn't have bothered because they were all dogs.
At a party in the early '90s, a hitherto straight guy got very drunk, pressed me up against a wall, said 'I'm not going to kiss you now,' and gave me the most passionate kiss you could imagine. Then he said 'I'm not going to fuck you now.' I ran.

Once at a party in a park in the middle of nowhere, a woman who looked like a Romanian shotputter sat next to me on a backless bench and started tickling my knob. Without thinking, I thrust out my arm and pushed her back, and she landed on her head. Everyone saw her fall, but they didn't know why, and she didn't tell them.

Today is the day that all the sandy-haired kids with names like Jaanie Schloogelfart who boarded at the school that I teach would go back to Bumfuckoola or whereever in the Mallee they came from for a weekend of sheepbothering. This is back when we had boarders, of course. Now everybody just has a day off for the hell of it! Wee!

Apparently it's no big thing that I didn't feel it while the scratching was going on. You thing if there was a foreign body grinding away at one's eye, you'd feel it, yeah?

I wear hard contact lenses, but scratching up my eye means I need to give them a rest for a while. Hence, yesterday I took a couple of frames for a test drive at my local optometatricians. I'm favoring the heavy black plastic indestructible nerd frames at the moment.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I live for curry, but I'm currently on a diet consisting of black coffee, mineral water and salads. It seems to be clearing up the fogginess I'm prone to in the morning.

Hey, how fuckin' rad is Berocca?

Red wine fucks me up something horried. I used to go through a bottle and a half every friday and saturday nights as a teenaged wanker from Templestowe. Now it gives me what feels like Hayfever.

M1cha3l Stuchb3ry (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost: Ah, now it makes sense.

Nerd frames are good, but the thick arms are hurting my ears.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 20 August 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey I went out with a teenaged wanker from Templestowe. Are you psychotic?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 20 August 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the nerd frames I tried on yesterday were made by Oakley, and didn't have the curly/hooky bits on the end that ALWAYS cause me a bit of grief/pain/annoyance.

In other news, everyone needs to go see Hellboy this weekend. Nazi-Tentacle-Slapstick-Ron-Perlman goodness for everybody!

No, I am not psychotic, but I know plenty who are!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell me more about these mysterious hiloydas that you people down there pursue. Is this something you do on the times of your vaticanoes?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 August 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm on hiloyda today. i can't really call it a sick day because i feel better than i would if i was at work. and two teeth lighter. you should have seen the buggers, they were very rotten. if i'd kept them i could have taken pictures, oh well.

purple patch (electricsound), Friday, 20 August 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh so it went okay then? Excellent.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 20 August 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I am using my day off or 'hiloyda' to watch the entirety of the first season of CSI and follow in the spiritual path of my master, Gil Grissom.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael, you seem in exceptionally good spirits today?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Using a day off to watch CSI? All day? um, isn't that a bit sad?

On my day off I watched

my hindi disco fever is peaking again. i just found a nice little number with the same tunes as...that wombles song (overground, underground, wombling free)

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds quite kooky.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Bappi is a god, no doubt. And he sued Dre for unauthorised sampling! (yet claims to have written that tune i linked!)

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

If everyone who was pinched in that song sued him, he'd owe 500% of the royalties.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Dancing round the living room with the lights off with the kids? R and I do this with SJ. We all call it 'going nuts'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a happy camper.

I didn't actually spend all day with CSI, I decided to amble on over to the local shopping mall to take care of some errands and am now reclining with a nice cuppa joe.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, I have a burning need to watch Gangs of New York. If only for Daniel Day Lewis's dialogue.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I have to confess I didn't like that one very much. It was a little um stilted and airbrushed.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Have they started back on the season one csi's from scratch on telly? I could swear the other nights was like the very first 2 shows.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

party animal? yes. he dresses himself in beads, bangles, weird hats, obligatory orange sunnys whenever we leave the house. he's a rockstar partyanimal at 2 and a bit.

how you feeling trayce? better i hope.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah not too bad... Ive been asleep most of the day, it was like fighting off some kind of drugged grogginess. Odd. Just chilling out now... its very odd, home alone on a friday night with no sound, no music or tv...

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

BOO!

what are you doing??????

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Pause is in Carlisle st St Kilda East - dahn the road from me and Adam and not far from Jim. I go there loads. We should all FAP there soon.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It just looks really nice, not all poncey like most bars these days.

Gaz -> Based on what observations on me you have, do you consider me the kind of person not to be generally happy?

The missus and I went to Mexicali Rose in Richmond tonight. Good food, but I think it's not agreeing with me.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

no i don't michael. i don't think i do.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Agreed, although recent family problems mean I could pull out of anything at the last minute. So I can't get drunk or nowt.

the bellefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Pinecones.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 20 August 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It's idle chit chat between several Australians and New Zealanders, pinefox. Occasionally Ned pops by for a cup of tea.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 August 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay tea!

Hi everyone... I am so bored.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 August 2004 06:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I am listening to Orson Welles' version of 'War Of The Worlds' - damn, it still has quite an impact.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 21 August 2004 06:45 (twenty-one years ago)

how can anyone be bored when there is so much cool stuff to do in the world?

purple patch (electricsound), Saturday, 21 August 2004 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The original radio play? Its cool.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 August 2004 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it really is. I'm quite geeking out over it - this thing has been referenced by hundreds of sci-fi stories, novels and films in the last seventy years.

"the chances of anything coming from mars...are a thousand to one."

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 21 August 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Isnt it a million to one? ;P

Maybe thats the funky 70s version heh. We listend to that in primary school. The music was amusing =)

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 August 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Memories of school music lessons in the last week of term come flooding back.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 21 August 2004 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hah, yeah, I'm aware of that. Orson Welles reads it as 'A....THOUSAND TO ONE!'.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 21 August 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

You freaks.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 August 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm listening to an Echo and the Bunnymen record (yes, record!) and I am rather trashed. Whee!

Hey you're mean! ;-)

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 August 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm pretty sure the book is 'a thousand to one.' cbf going downstairs to find it though.

Trayce: Thanks, kind of. Remember my hypothetical question about neighbours? They live next to my parents, and they're doing more than just throwing things on roofs.* :)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 21 August 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 21 August 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hopefully they copped a painful anal probe then.

Trayce, did you hear sirens and police megaphones on Thursday night?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 21 August 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam, what else are they doing?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 21 August 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man. I could go on all day. Basically they're harrassing and intimidating all the neighbours. Trying to scare them in the dark, killing plants, jumping over the fence and moving things, digging holes so people's pets will escape, writing letters to councils/police accusing everyone of trying to physically abuse them, etc. The other night they ran outside with cameras and screamed insults at my mother, in the hope that my dad would hit them. Mentally unhinged provocative cunts.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 22 August 2004 06:05 (twenty-one years ago)

So no chance of any crazy mess-up-these-fuckos Black Ops, balaclava over yer head and such?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Sunday, 22 August 2004 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Sadly, no.

Although one day I reckon a neighbour will snap and go absolutely pigshit at them, and the police would probably even turn a blind eye. The local station appears to be well sick to death of this woman turning up in tears, accusing everyone of things she can't prove.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 22 August 2004 06:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I also need a drink.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Monday, 23 August 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

are the tickets able to be purchased online?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 23 August 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah the link on my LJ is to ticketmaster... I wanted to avoid that tho personally, as a) it costs more thru them and b) my credit card's limit is up its own wazoo.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, if we all booked togther we'd get seats together wouldnt we? Hows that stuff work?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam did you know about this gig? BILL BAILEY!!! OMGWTF

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 23 August 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 01:09 (twenty-one years ago)

One of the girls just went round giving everyone Smints. I asked her if it was because she thinks we all smell.

Now my throat feels all cold and on fire from the Smint :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Sept 7th... I have NO idea what I'm doing then.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 23 August 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Me either but fuckit I'm getting a ticket anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahahaha. How much?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 23 August 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ticketmaster said 40-50 bucks? I spose the price varies depending on concession or sommat.

I've seen Bill do standup before (well, on telly anyway) and he was great.

Speaking of which I wish Black Books 3 would hurry the fuck up and be on tv here.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

nah they didn't even finish the whole series, they went back to english mysteries leading directly into the glasshouse after about 3 episodes. VERY disappointing, it was great to get home from the pub and watch before falling asleep on the couch.
