If you've ever worked as a programmer, that thing was gonna call you a nerd of some stripe or other, as kate seemed to be saying. What was the nerdiest answer to "which is not a real computer programming language"? I'm a mid-level nerd, 2nd (so far) on the ILX nerd rankings (to Kate).
I also no longer have a "Discover" subscription, thus saving me from a higher ranking. Good thing I haven't finished my Ph.D. yet, also.
And yeah, those science questions were insulting. I like the one where they asked what "c" was, and one of the answers was "the speed of light" and another was the actual value of the speed of light. Obviously, they're daring you to pick the latter and proclaim your ultra-nerdiness for knowing it.

She also says that in the C question the figure, although correct, only had 5 decimal places therefore "the speed of light" is the most accurate answer.

Caitlin, if you were really that nerdy you'd have realised that the total is a common effect of rounding!

I am unconvinced by the test anyway - there is more to being nerdy than knowing about certain things. I think I've said this before, but there are important things you have to lack to be a real nerd - you can't be good at sports, tough and have a thrilling sex life, for instance, and this doesn't really touch that aspect.

As for me, maybe I'm not so hot on maths and science - but I did the former at Cambridge, and have a First in Computer Science, so I can hardly be that bad.

Technically not correct. FTP is the File Transfer Protocol. telnet/ssh are used for remote logging into machines (though you can tunnel some services via ssh)

The reason is the language is called Pascal and not PASCAL. BASIC (Beginners All purpose Symbolic Instruction Code), COBOL (Common [Object?] Business Oriented Language) and FORTRAN (Formula Translation) are all acronyms.
