I do.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't! I don't know how I missed this.

Leon Bluth (Ex Leon), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I gave Jel my address many a month and week ago. Ya gotta have faith!

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

They've been sent out?!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess so! I must confess as I was out the door to work when I checked my mailbox I just threw on track 6 and listened to it on repeat all the way to work (the cassette-to-digital transfer is dandy, jel! Gracias!). I'll listen to the rest when I get home.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, got mine, as my foolish duplicate thread noted. :-) All the songs I already knew on it sound just as great as before! A merry collection.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Jay Vee's "Penguin" is techno funk sex. This is a good thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Ned! I wish I had a copy (of the comp, that is.)

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Sundar into Kate's track is GREAT sequencing. And both are wonderful!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I've come to the realization that you're all insane

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you Ned.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

oh i want one

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone needs to make a megamix

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Wah, how come the Americans get it before the Brits?

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

did he send it to my address? i haven't got it yet.

latebloomer: AKA Sir Teddy Ruxpin, Former Scientologist (latebloomer), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess its postage...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:59 (twenty-one years ago)

jel -- please email me (again) your postal address!
so i can send you a little something in return :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

As mentioned on the other thread, I was going to set up a hosting page for this, with downloadable mp3 and information.

Contributors, can you

1) Indicate if the MP3 hosting is OK with you, or not,
2) Give me some covering info regarding yourself and your track,
3) ur that's it.

Also, if everyone agrees, I can set up a 'cafepress' version so people who can't/wont get one can take the easy option to get one. Obviously, this option can 'upset' folk, so I'd need everyone's explicit agreement. I can make this 'no profit' or I can make this 'profits to the server appeal' whatever.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you may put my song up

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Righto.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

You can put up our song (NA and Sarah). Whatever.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I don't mind if you MP3 and host my track, either.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah that's fine, host away.

BTW if anyone's having trouble singing along to Vonneguts Cradle, I find "Be homosex, be homosex, be homosexual" suffices.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Works for me!

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha I was referring to the mp3 hosting issue. When I listen to the track again I'll see if those lyrics work for me.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

you can host my band's song! (canasta)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You may also put my "song" up.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

am i on the mails list

anthony, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, hello! I'm sending out a few at a time - will be doing so over the next few weeks - will send out emails asking for addresses etc! Did you like my song, it's noise.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

the songs, while intriguing and endearing separately, collectively work as evidence that we should all be locked up.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Easter kind of got in the way of the posting schedule. I'm pretty sure I put latebloomers copy in the post.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

You can host my track Mark!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I've had no mention (yes or no) re: the "cafepress" idea, so I'm treating it as "OK" until I get one "refusal" from a contributor. I will host tracks from all agreeable sources, but the 'cafepress' version has to be 'complete' for it to work...

yeah?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure what cafepress is, anyhow, I don't mind.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark -

You can def. post my track.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

post mine but i want 25% profit for whatever you make on it.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Contributors should email me their address. See above, it is my super special gmail addy.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, see below, that should be. I R confused.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It's above now.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Easter kind of got in the way of the posting schedule. I'm pretty sure I put latebloomers copy in the post.

-- jel -- (freeduni...), March 29th, 2005.

yay! :-)

latebloomer: AKA Sir Teddy Ruxpin, Former Scientologist (latebloomer), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey hey, I just got mine. Sounding good so far (5 tracks in)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 4 April 2005 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Who puts these together? And can I be on the next one?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, Tantrum, to get a slot on an ILX comp, one must, it appears, make an early reservation and have mucho patience. Not that I've ever tried myself to be on them things or anything, mind... But... Oh well, you can get a vague idea how it goes on this thread --

Camping out on the sidewalk to be first in line: C/D?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I was wondering if for the next project - instead of just an audio CD - we might compile an ILX DVD o' crap. Music, arty funness, video, prose, what-have-you. Interest?

Remy Ulysses Fitzgerald (x Jeremy), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not just a computer CDR of funny quicktime clips and shit? There's those of Andrew and his clones... etc

I'll interview college kids about GRIME.

absolutego (ex machina), Monday, 4 April 2005 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

YEAH! That'd be WELL WEAPON!

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Monday, 4 April 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This really is an excellent comp -- while I knew many of the songs already, hearing it all, plus Jel's sequencing, has turned it into something special. The variety -- while not truly all over the place, it's got more so than most -- is showcased here so spectacularly. I've been listening to it regularly and it might yet be something I could vote for way down the way in Pazz and Jop.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

(Also, Martin M's track is just plain killer.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

*waits for love*

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim -- roxor!

Remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim, I'm nearly up to your track.

(Heck, I'm nervous about mine being in too close proximity!)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim, yer song is of the ultragrand.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Did the Chicago copies get mailed out to jaymc as had been discussed?

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I need Jaymc's address again (I emailed him the other week)! If I get it, I'll mail them out tomorrow!!!

Contributors should like email me their addresses.

I'll be sending out some more copies tomorrow.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't get your e-mail, Jel. I'll send it to you now.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think we wanted four copies? That's one for me, one for N/A and Sarah, and one for Jocelyn -- I can't remember who wanted the fourth one, though. Unless N/A and Sarah wanted two?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

No, one is fine for us.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll send ya 4, just in case!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

jel did you get my mail?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I did Ken! I'm posting tomorrow!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

you know what it was, I emailed some guy called jmcumming by mistake, opps.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

but the one I sent to lynskey got bounced.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel, you got my address, right?

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

And mine?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel, are you sending these comps by post or by e-mail? Either way, I'd love a copy. I'll even pay you. See my e-mail address above below.

Maria :D (Maria D.), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey, that "Have you seen this cat!" Not an ounce of fat on that one...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(yeah, I know, I know, but I was truly dreading hearing it. But I'm happy wid it.)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a little anxious about hearing the comp now, I think should have submitted a real song instead of a fucking-around-for-a-couple-hours one.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, news...

I'm stumped re the hosting for now, as my hoster wont resend my password to me as I have also changed my email recently...

The "cafepress version" if I remember, they have a mximum running time which is less than the requirement. So, as I said, it was all or nothing.

I have registered the track details on CDDB (which is a database which'll display the track names/artists if you play it on your pc. Not a copyright organisation, so be cool.)

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Couln't we gmail the comp to people who have gmails? I have like 50 invites if someone wants it but has no gmail account.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

apologies if this is a dumb question, but is that miccio's own voice on his track? he sounds vaguely like ian mackaye in some parts!

anyway, the comp is surprisingly good. i wish i had turned in a less dull track of mine.

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

when i receive my CD i can lump an .iso rip of it on my web server, if you want.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

jel, who in glasgow and its surrounds requested one? should I send you my address?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll host on my Nildram space if you want, we'll see how much bandwidth they're willing to give me :)

gmail me the mp3s.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

maria, I'm sending by post, email me your address!

Jay Vee, your copy was mailed last week.

Jordan, yours went today, as did Ken's and Jaymc's.

RJG, I will have to check the thread where I asked who wanted a copy, as I'm not sure off-hand!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG, only cozen asked for one on the thread! So, I'll send you 3 copies, just in case.

ILX Comp Volume 2 - Who wants a copy?

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

but is that miccio's own voice on his track? he sounds vaguely like ian mackaye in some parts!

yup. I do all the vocals (and guitar/keys), except drummer Theodore (occ. ILX poster Herbert Herbert) does the bridge - that's him screaming - and bassist Will does the "ride the future" at the beginning. They also do the background "woo-hoo's."

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

(Tuomas - yer copy(-ies) in the mail.
jel - yer exchange-discus too.)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I've often found myself muttering "I wanna walk barefoot in the moss" whilst at work.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

cool! cheers dude!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel, do you have my address?

We Are All Full Of Kate (kate), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony, your track is full of lust.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Jel!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

no love for van morrison cover yet

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

no Kate, I don't! Please send!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

For those curious, I didn't sing on my band's track, but I play keyboard (including the opening keyboard riff), and wrote most of the song's structure.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I never saw this thread. Yes, you can put my track up and all. And I guess I have to re-send you my address Jel....

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Sent it to your hotmail, Jel! Hope it gets through!

We Are All Full Of Kate (kate), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

...wot van morrison cover? 8-)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Got your address Kate, will dispatch on Friday.

Please resend your addy Michael. Hotmail junk folder is always eating my messages (coz I forget to move them out of the folder).

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks, jel!

I will e-mail you

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I just sent our address to your hotmail account. Thanks!

Maria :D (Maria D.), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a contributor, right?

Contributors, can you

1) Indicate if the MP3 hosting is OK with you, or not,
2) Give me some covering info regarding yourself and your track,
3) ur that's it.

1) is fine with me
2)Don't know what to say. The track is constructed from a single 'ping' sound. Put my name, email meirion.lewis@gmail.com and phone number on there (can I tell you my phone number privately somehow?)
3) er, ok :-)

(Can I get a copy of the CD? I must have missed the thread about that!)

mei (mei), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, email me your address!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks for putting the comp together, Ned & Jel! Got mine today and enjoyed it enormously. Sundar's piece in particular I found stunning. I wish I would've sent a better, later mix of my contrib. but - oh, well.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks a lot, Jay Vee, that's quite flattering.

the fucker that will burn you (sundar), Thursday, 7 April 2005 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Why does everyone say, "The CD is stunning - it's a pity my song just fell out of my hair like that"? Why does no one say, "I'm pleased that my song is the best one - by far"?

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 7 April 2005 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i haven't heard the other tunes yet, eyeballkicks! that's why i can't yet make that judgement (even though it'd probably be true)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 7 April 2005 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ditto to what Ken said.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 April 2005 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Eyeball: OK, I'll sort of have a go.

The CD is stunning and there are so many different styles on there, it sounds like a Really good John Peel show without the links inbetween.

My song is one of my better ones, so I big my song up.

I don't think its the best track on there, but seeing as a fair few aren't songs as such, I nominate mine as 'best song'. Although other songs are also great too, so I don't necessarily think it is the best one, but I can at least say I did me best.

Ramble ramble ramble.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 7 April 2005 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

can someone who has all the tracks just torrent this shit?

Alex in TCBY (ex machina), Thursday, 7 April 2005 06:54 (twenty-one years ago)

My 2 cents: I like my piece, but it's not the best thing on the comp. C'est my honest opinion. I'm not gonna big up myself when there's no reason to.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Thursday, 7 April 2005 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel - could I have a copy pls? I think you have my address. If not let me know. Cheers!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 April 2005 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Dr C, could you resend your address? Thanks!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

did you get my address?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Could you resend it please Roxy?...

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I like my band's song, but I sort of wish I had something that was more personal (i.e., just me).

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

sent

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I like my track! I only used my Concertmate 500 (radio shack version of Casio SK-1) and Casiotone MT-400V to make it. It's not the best song though. It wouldn't be fair of me to comment on other people's songs.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What was the final tracklisting on this thing?

You can put my song wherever, by the way. Online, cafepress, whatever. It's all a bit of fun, so lets be cool.

I wish I'd had a better song to put on there...I really have to start writing again.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

We wrote recorded and mixed "Sky Car" in four hours. I think it's fine! More than a few mistakes on it but it was important to capture the moment.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I think mine was done in 15-20 minutes. It's improv. I work more on song titles anyhow.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

1. Chaki - Crangalator

(my song is all Gentle Giant samples)

charleston charge (chaki), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I like my band's song, but I sort of wish I had something that was more personal (i.e., just me).

Whereas I played all the instruments on mine, but I wish I had sent something from one of my bands because it would be better!

Sorry, I'll stop whining, I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's tracks.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't wait!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Sigh, and my name is even misspelled...

We Are All Full Of Kate (kate), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

As I said above, I don't really remember our song, but I'm sure it's fucking awesome.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

opps, how is your name spelt Kate?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate St.Claire

As many extraneous vowels as possible. ;-)

We Are All Full Of Kate (kate), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll update CDDB when I getachance!

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm still not in a band called the "Red bull dozers" and the song is still not called "a woman needs a fish"

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

You are a liar.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You really should follow it with a cover of "Bicycle/Fat Bottomed Girls"

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I think mine was done in 15-20 minutes. It's improv. I work more on song titles anyhow.
-- jel -- (freeduni...), April 7th, 2005. (later)

I see that my tape has influenced you.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, julio dude, send me your address!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Just got my copy, thanks a million Jel, listening now.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Saturday, 9 April 2005 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Think me and A-Mei are CDDB'ed the wrong way round - my track is credited as Glisten atm.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Saturday, 9 April 2005 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorted it.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Saturday, 9 April 2005 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys are great!

I think mine and Michael's tracks are switched though!

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I love this compilation! Much thanks to Jel for putting this all together, it has made my week.

Leon WK (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Kudos indeed to Jel and to all. I am serious, this is easily one of my releases of the year, there are just some ridiculously great songs on here and I think I'll yet do a full track by track breakdown just because. Right now as it stands three of my Pazz/Jop album votes next time around will be for homemade comps like (and including) this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

hey Stinky, mind burning me a copy of this?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought YOU were getting all the Toronto ones!

Sundar (sundar), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I need to get a good tape player so I can properly digitize more of the walkman recorded summer jamz Ian and I made

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, that was for the one two years ago. I forgot to email jel this time!

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

jel, you got my email, right?

Sundar (sundar), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah! I finally got mine at the weekend. Still haven't heard it all the way through due to walking, but so far I really like the dronegasm in the middle. Sundar, Mei and Lynskey all in a row is brilliant sequencing (I'm honoured by the placement because the flow is lovely but honestly their tracks are just too lovely for mine!)

Adherents of the Repeated Kate (kate), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

How does one change CDDB info?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

With guns.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

is this up for download yet? i can host

$V£N! (blueski), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been trying to get my login details for my webspace reactivated.

It takes time it seems.

Sigh.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

if anyone wants to send me the mp3s i can put them up

$V£N! (blueski), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Why does no one say, "I'm pleased that my song is the best one - by far"?

i can now confirm that that statement is true, for my track.

The other tracks are great too though!

I love my corny indie tune is immediately followed/sonned by WITE NOIZE! Awesome. Beefy!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

jaymc hasn't gotten my copy to me yet. :(

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I listened to the whole thing on a car journey with my girlfriend - it was a very good car album. I didn't have the tracklisting with me and don't have it now but immediate thumbs up are due to That Drumming, the sequencing into Kitty Jam, the chord change in Kate's, Tugboat's track and another one around there that was something to do with a bridge and a coin or something and just the general variety. Better than any free-on-a-magazine or label compilation I've heard in a while.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sundar! I got your email! I will send you some extra copies, can you distribute? If Martin Mushrush is out there?

I'm concerned about this track listing business...

Will send more copies in post tomorrow. Ian, Jon, aaron hz do you want copies?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

and esoj.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

how do you want to arrange that, n/a?

thanks for sending, jel!

i actually haven't listened yet. will do so tonight.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I probably have martin mushrush's email address if anyone needs to try and get in touch with him. Or I can just email him and point him to this thread.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

You're all welcome!

(my birthday is on Thursday, please someone revive thread)

< /shameless>

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

or you can aim him

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i think im getting the bum deal with my song being first

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is a mushrush who really aims marriage?

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

But Chaki, you rap anatomically correct.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I can distribute the Toronto copies. I don't think martin mushrush is around here but I could be wrong. Do I just get a copy for every local poster? How does it work?

6xpost Happy birthday in advance!

Sundar (sundar), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll send you 5 copies Sundar...one for yourself, sean, martin, Kim, and then I guess one extra for anyone in Toronto who might want one.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I just got this and I am listening to it now. The range of styles is pretty impressive and the sequencing is great!

Favorites on first listen: Miccio, Sundar, Kate, and Mei.

Jordan is right about our tracks being switched though. Mine is track 17 (with the looping bass groove) and I assume he is track 18 (the one with the er...sloppy beats.)

Also the first few seconds of my track are cut off, but I wouldn't say it is detrimental.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

jel - did you send me a copy?

Remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

obv i'd like one but i'm happy to download it if it's easier! alternatively i could distro it in mongrel land if nobody else is

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

What esoj said, except in Nordic countries if desirable. Download fine though.

OleM (OleM), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

aw thanks jel. of course this means that i have to go hang out with Sundar sometime though.... (joke!!!) we are long overdue for a FAP anyway.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Remy did you send me your address? I don't think I have it, but send it, and I will send it. ESOJ, send me an address, I'll send out a bunch of copies to mongrel land! Same goes to OleM! (I had 100 hundred copies made, so I want to get most of them sent out)

If anyone wants a copy of "Unexplained (A Master Class) [an imagined best-of scenario 1998 - 2005]" by An Augmented Band, hmmm, let me know.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i listened to track 12 on repeat 3 times at lunch today.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Maria :D (Maria D.), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sundar, Zac tells me that you sent me an email today? I didn't get anything anyway - my old email address is dead now if you tried that. Use hotmail one ok thx bye.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 14 April 2005 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, martin m is in Seattle...I'll distribute (or burn) for Toronto locals too, whatever works out best.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 14 April 2005 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

A-hem, a-hem. Hopefully none of the contributors objects to their track getting, perhaps, some radioplay. No? Well if any of yous should object, post yers objection quickly, please. - Tomorrow may be too late.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 14 April 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

jel, I got the package today. Thanks a lot!

I have 4 copies including mine. Sean and Kim get one each. Who wants the fourth? Shall I give it to the first Toronto poster who posts a response?

Sundar (sundar), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

SEND IT TO ME, SUNDAR!

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, no, that's ok. I think I asked for one a while ago but I didn't follow up. I'd even settle for downloading it/having it YouSendIt-ed to me, unless the packaging is really nice.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

yo jel, have you sent mine yet? i wanna know what its all about!!!

di, Wednesday, 27 April 2005 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

quite a lot of this is really good

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

There's not much in the way of packaging but I can send you the fourth disc if you email me with your address, Bryan.

Sundar (sundar), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd still love to know when the next one is happening, and how one can be on it.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

quite a lot of this is really good

I KNOW I SUCK

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Di, it'll be on the way come Friday!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Dudes, I finally got this, and what's up with no one talking about mine and Sarah's song? It's quite obviously the most awesomest thing on there! It's becoming the elephant in the thread.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, COME ON, PEOPLE! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, no one mentioned my track either, possibly out of politeness. I thought your guys' song was great though! The drum sound and panning is cool!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

WE used panning?!?!?

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

di, Wednesday, 27 April 2005 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, you know, i *think* i still have an extra copy of the FIRST ilx comp. i have it around somewhere anyway, so it may take some effort to locate, but if anyone in the Toronto area wants it email me.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

The fourth Toronto disc is still available. First poster wins it.

Sundar (sundar), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

PWNED

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:27 (twenty-one years ago)

My track wasn't mentioned either, Di.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine was, but by me so does that count?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 28 April 2005 06:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I sincerely liked every track.

Sundar (sundar), Thursday, 28 April 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I was impressed by the skills on show, but not that much of it is really my kind of thing - Sundar, you may be an extreme example of that, as your track is hugely impressive, but the kind of music I avoid. Sorry, but that's just taste. I liked some a lot - Di & Duane's probably the most, but there were several others.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess my song is pretty fucken awesome for such a downer. I still haven't heard the comp though, so the only song I can compliment at the moment is my own.

So yeah... I heard some people were wondering where I was.

You have my address, Jel? I thought I emailed it to you. I can resend if necessary... Just let me know.

I guess I gotta answer this:

1) Indicate if the MP3 hosting is OK with you, or not,
2) Give me some covering info regarding yourself and your track,

1) it's fine by me, although if you want the best in sound quality (for an mp3), email me and I'll send you a link to an mp3 that hasn't gone through encoding twice already.
2) info about the track: I recorded it in my bedroom when I was living in Nashville. I played guitars and bass and that army of synth strings, but I programmed the drums and played them in Battery because I can't play drums to save my life. My neighbors actually did call the management at the apartment complex while I was recording the electric guitar part, but I was done by the time they showed up to ask me to knock it off.

martin m. (mushrush), Saturday, 7 May 2005 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

hey martin, yes, please resend me your address, sorry.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 7 May 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Could I get a copy of this, if it's not going to be available online?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 7 May 2005 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

yo jel, got these in the mail, cheers!

fanks martin skidmore, me and duane heart u.

di, Sunday, 8 May 2005 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

So it's too late to submit something?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I was wondering why there were no Thirds to be found.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Sunday, 8 May 2005 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris, you should include your offering on the bonus CD single when the deluxe version comes out in four months.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 8 May 2005 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I gave a wretched drunken pisstake of "Fire and Rain" to Ned, actually, a million years ago, as a placeholder. But it's just as well that wasn't unleashed.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh lord, I remember that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, Hi folks.

Thanks for the info, M.Mush, I guess I should do something about this.

I'll start encoding stuff this week, now I have access to my web pages once again.

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Haunting, isn't it, Ned?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a word for it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And yet you denied the world this experience.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, YOU'RE the one saying you're glad it didn't surface, so none of your smack.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I said "it's just as well". But anyone who wants to listen to a 7 minute version of "Fire and Rain" sung by a very drunk person who turns it first into a murder ballad and then into an extended vision of heaven, I can IM you the file. (It was recorded on a hand-held recorder, and there are some speed issues, but what are you gonna do?)

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

can you email it to me? i wanna hear it! email smidi194 at student dot otago dot ac dot nz.

di, Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

So, shouldn't we be starting work on Vol. III, so we can get it out by 2008 or so?

n/a (Nick A.), Sunday, 8 May 2005 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I finally heard this today, and it's outstanding. Huge props to everyone involved.

I'm going to read the rest of this thread now.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

The sequencing is flawless, too.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

it's weird how we can all have the latest leak of the album by whatever band in like 2 days yet our own comp seems to be making the rounds so slowly!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 June 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

Done. Thanks! (xp)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 2 June 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)
