I just watched Fight Club for the first time. Bit long.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

i saw fight club by myself when it came out. i liked it, but hated the Pixified ending.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

I think I'm the only person I know who loved The Gangs of New York.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

i thought it was decent mark. albeit really really fucking long.

wtf is that thing?

i really wish the maintenance people would start putting shit spray in the mens rooms here. i almost puked on the floor when i went in to take a pee. someone was in there really wrestling with a turd and it smelled of wet paper and vomit.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Timber - Bloodhound

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 15 December 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

Afternoon all! I had to have some bloods done this morning, although after 2 separate ppl made 4 attempts they couldn't get any blood. I don't think I'm human! :-(

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 December 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

Maybe your baby is a vampire. Oh no!

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 December 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

(Nobody can ever get blood out of me either.)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 December 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

i faint

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 15 December 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

syrup comes out of my veins.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 15 December 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

I know I've had trouble at blood doning before, but they've never had to just give up! "I'd like some panin medication please" "I'm sorry we can't get the needle in, you'll just have to get on with the pain." Arggghhhhh!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 December 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

They couldn't get the needle in? Like Superman, where it snaps when they try to force it through your invulnerable skin? With my ex-wife, they could never find her veins - they'd give her to new staff as a joke. Sometimes they would resort to giving her injections on the back of her hand, as it was the only place they could locate a vein.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 15 December 2005 13:06 (twenty years ago)

No, they couldn't find a vein, sorry I exaggerated for comedy value. If they can't do it next time, they're going for the back of my hand. *gulp*

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 December 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

I did my last radio show last night. I'm half-sad. I had a lot fun.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 December 2005 14:52 (twenty years ago)

Aww Huk, will you be able to pick it up again in the future?

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 December 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

so ive been given the option of working 4 ten hour days and having fridays off starting in January. This is a tough choice for me...I already come in at 5am so I can leave at 1. I would probably come in at 4-4:30 if I did the 10 hour day thing. I have a hard fucking time being here 8 hours, never mind 10....but the thought of every friday off and usually holidays we get mondays off which would mean 4 day weekends...is a tremendous amount of fun. hmmm...any thoughts?

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:17 (twenty years ago)

I work four 9-hour days and have Fridays off to study. It is good having a day off in the week, and especially at the end... but it's not THAT good. I think it depends - if you'll be totally wiped out after every 10-hour day, you won't really appreciate your long weekend because you'll just be recovering. But if you can do 10 hours and still function (ie spend SOME quality time with your wife in the week) then go for it.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

thats the thing...she gets home around 7pm and i go to bed around 8 because i come in so early. (5am) so basically i would see her for 10 minutes.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

I took the day off for my birthday and we just got a call that my gf's grandmother is dying.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:37 (twenty years ago)

Oh, M. Happy Birthday, and sincere sympathy to you and your gf and her family.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

Thanks, Huk. It's her mother I'm worried the most about.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

Oh I'm sorry to hear it - my best to her and her family.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

Chris, TOTALLY do it - it will change your life. I would jump at the chance.

M, that's terrible - I'm sad for you all.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

Thanks, everyone.

Chris, dude, you totally have to do this.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

"Crayons taste purple".

Also, they've restarted Greg the Bunny on IFC, only they apparently can't use any of the Fox-originating puppets(Tardy & Susan).

kingfish holiday travesty (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

You should’ve seen by the look in my eyes, baby
There was somethin missin
You should’ve known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn’t listen
You played dead
But you never bled
Instead you lay still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin

And though I know all about those men
Still I don’t remember
Cause it was us baby, way before then
And we’re still together
And I meant, every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant
That I love you forever

And I’m gonna keep on lovin you
Cause it’s the only thing I wanna do
I don’t wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin you

(solo)

And I meant every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant
That I love you forever

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 15 December 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

Kingfish, if you get a chance, watch the 'Natural Sewn Killers' episode.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 15 December 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

Sorry to hear about your gf's family Mike. That's a rough thing.

My shoulder is better but I feel generally like shit today. I think it's depression masquerading as physical ailments. Tuesday I'm going to FTW to help my aunt pack up my grandmother's house. It's already sold, which surprised us all, and everything has to be out by the 27th. It will probably just be myself, my aunt and her husband as my mother "can't deal with it yet." grrr. My poor aunt still has to live next door to the house when strangers move in and my mom can't deal with packing a few boxes. Does she think it's going to be party time for the rest of us?

Also, all the utilities are out in the house so we'll be freezing/working by flashlight. so much fun. ugh ugh.

Pink, they can hardly ever get my veins either. They roll like spagehetti so I'm usually stuck over and over. This induced me to faint once and now it's in my chart that I'm a "fainter". So a bunch of staff will come stand around/in front of me which really helps my anxiety levels.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 15 December 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

Can I just say being unemployed SUCKS! I hate job searching. I hate interviews.

I've been waiting to hear if I got the job I interviewed for twice. They were supposed to call yesterday. I don't think I got it.

I'm also waiting to find out if I'm getting unemployment compensation but the agency is still waiting on my former employer to reply.

I need either of those two things to happen before I can make any xmas purchases safely and time is running out. fuck!!

WORK SUCKS.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 15 December 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

Sorry to hear your having such a rough time Sam. *hugs* I hope things start looking up for you soon.
Belated happy birthday M, I'm sorry to hear about your sad news. My thoughts are with you all.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 December 2005 09:30 (twenty years ago)

well it turns out g.'s [expletive deleted] bought him the black iPod I planned on getting overnighted here. and she got it for $189. :(

I don't know what to get him now. And he doesn't know what to get me b/c I won't tell him. I said if I have to ask for a gift than it's not worth it. All the fun of gift-giving is figuring out what would please someone else. Watch him get me that pink broom-vac I coo over from the commericals.

I'm grumpy b/c it's cold here today. Too cold for me to keep the ice pack on my shoulder which is still hurting. I have two sinks full of dishes to do since I've felt crappy the past two days and have to make sure I apply for 3 jobs to keep up with the unemployment requirements.

MEANWHILE, it's playday over at D3LL and G. gets a free lunch and then a free viewing of King Kong. :( Now that makes two movies I'll have to see by myself. Not fair!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

I want a Dyson vacuum.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

well i'm not ready to accept appliances as gifts. I don't even have a ring yet!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

haha, my wife asked for a kitchen aid mixer. i can't justify getting a dyson vacuum though...they are $400-$500 and i have one room with carpet in it. oh well.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

I know what you mean about gifts Sam, but boys really are hopeless at that kind of thing.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

NOT TRUE!

My wife wanted a kitchen aid mixer, she gets diamond studs instead!

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

our place is all hardwoods so one of those spinmate scrubber things would be nice. but dammit I want something just for me! He's talking about getting his dad and sister new computers b/c theirs are crap. All his dad does is play solitare! Meanwhile I can't even plug any USBs into my 1999 PC and he knows I want a laptop. . .I guess girlfriends don't warrant as much $$ as family. I wouldn't know.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

one of my friends is completely clueless when it comes to gift giving though. last year he gave his wife a bag of cotton balls, socks, and a footbath thing.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:07 (twenty years ago)

You really should know by now Ningo that you are indeed the exception to the rule!!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

thing is, before we moved in together he gave me great gifts: a DVD of Giant and a trip to Marfa, a BAM skateboard, an iPod with a pink case. I didn't ask for any of those things! What's wrong with him now? I'll just have to keep quiet whenever the dancing broom-vac commercial comes on.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

ningo!

sometimes that happens sam when you move in together. people get too comfortable and think a bag of cotton balls are an acceptable gift. "ahh she loves me anyways, i just get her a box of tissues."

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:16 (twenty years ago)

*sigh*

Yes we're far too domesticated only nine months in. I should probably just give up.

So then what should I get him? When I got upset about his mom getting him the iPod (and telling him, what's with that family?) he suggested I get him a sirius/iPod-ready car stereo. That was actually my second choice but I don't want to get it now that he mentioned it. Call me old-fashioned but I fully believe in the suprise aspect of gifts.

Whatever, I hate Xmas anyway.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

sam, get his this! i just got it for myself and its great.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

that's crazy that it displays on the tv.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

What's wrong with Ningo huh? ;-)

Sam - I think when you move in together you don't have to try as hard you know. It's sucky, but that's what seems to happen.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

I feel like I have to try harder b/c I'm such a huge ball of trouble. I warned him before we moved in that I'm crazy and hard to live with. He said he knew and was ready. He has since admitted that it's much harder than he imagined.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

i've been with my wife for 10 years and we've lived together for 8 years...it doesn't get any easier.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

Nobody is easy to live with. Everyone has their ways & that's just the way it is.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 December 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

I think we're doing okay. He's just rode through one of the roughest years of my life.

We had just started dating when we came home from camping and found my 16-yr old kitty had had a stroke. She died on NYE. Welcome 2005!

Then a couple of months later my mom's stomach ruptured. She was in special needs ICU for a month and I couldn't even go into see her b/c I had a cold. G. went with me and we stood in the hallway and waved at her. Then she had to go back into ICU after they sent her home with a blood infection. I was wreck there for a couple of months.

Teaching during the above.

Moving down here and trying to find a job. Being w/out my meds for more than 3 months.

Getting new job that was almost more stressful than teaching.

Grandmother getting sick and dying within two weeks.

Getting fired from job.

Back at square one and about to run out of my medicine.

I wouldn't have lived through this year without his support but damn we're due for a break from drama and trauma. surely 2006 has got to be better.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

it will it usually does!

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

argh...I have my first meeting (since taking on the contract) with my new boss today. I'm a little behind where I wanted to be by this time (still had a few things to settle before I could throw myself into this new project), and I'm really nervous. I really should have been more on top of things. Am very nervous. (which probably means the boss will look at the notes I've made so far and say, "GREAT, KEEP IT UP, KIDDO!" and send me on my way)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 16 December 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

Leave it to me to kill a thread. (or not! xpost)

I've applied for 5 jobs now so I'm off the hook. Going to scrounge up so me lunch. Wish there was beer in the fridge. . .that might give me courage to face the dishes.

Good luck w/your mtg Huk.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

mmmm Makers Mark at 4.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 20:56 (twenty years ago)

Ha! I should try drinking to motivate myself to wash dishes! Good idea, Sam.

Sarah Kittensmew McLusky (coco), Friday, 16 December 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

Give me some!

It is so fucking freezing here! The heater's not working for some reason and I haven't showered yet. I'm frightened to get in the shower. I just took a long, frigid nap. I wrapped chingy's cage up in a blanket. It's really cold.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 16 December 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

sam, hows missy? georges pal.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 16 December 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

Missy doesn't like me b/c I don't play outside with her. And when G. comes home and hugs/kisses me she goes nuts with jealousy.

I wanted a boston terrier.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Saturday, 17 December 2005 01:04 (twenty years ago)

Ugh, I cannot sleep! And of course I've got tons of shit to do tomorrow. I want to write but I'm so behind in my blog that I feel I have a lot of catching up to do. I don't think I've written since my grandmother died. I'm having enough end-of-year reflective thinking at the moment as it it. argh, no wonder I can't sleep.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

Sam, you certainly have had a rough idea, but 2006 will definitely be better for you. When you're behind on things like blogs, it's always best to just start from today & work backwards if you have time. Then at least you have something on there.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

I finally had my first meeting with my new boss since starting the project and he liked my ideas and the work that I'd done! He even showed me off to some off the other people in the company!
This is how it always starts out, though. In jobs, relationships, etc. I'm brilliant at first, totally entranced by The New and adoring and devoted, etc. And then I fart in front of the GF, boss, etc. and a mutual undercurrent of resentment begins to grow.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 14:36 (twenty years ago)

We went to the G3ttys party on Saturday where I got vigorously drunk thanks to a torrent of champagne and consumed enough caviar to last me until next Xmas. I awoke Sunday morning exceedingly hungover yet had to start early on the preparations for my birthday/tree trimming party. Some forty-odd people showed up that night. Along with enough bubbles to rival Saturday night, they brought lovely ornaments for the tree and someone gave me some excellent w33d. Since we, *ahem* let our attention wander, the cats got into the food so I can safely say that they had a good time. This is my first day back at work in five days and I'm not enjoying the experience overmuch.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 15:01 (twenty years ago)

Huk - they'll continue to love you forever!

M - sounds like my kind of w/e!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

Huk, just hold it in.

Is it your birthday Michael?

I ended up with only about 4 hours of sleep last night. Ugh.

Am supposed to head home at some point today but have beaucoups of chores to do first. I am dragging my feet on purpose.

I doubt I'll have time/opportunity for much computing over the next few days so I hope you all have a good one. I'll talk to you before next year!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Huk, just hold it in.

Especially the flatulence.

Is it your birthday Michael?

Last Thursday, Sam.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

Bonne anniversaire en retard!

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

Thanks you, Sarah. I took Thursday and Friday and Monday off and had a fittingly debauched weekend.

This week's issue of MAD is awesome, btw.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

Usually this is reserved for special occasions, but today merits that, I think.

Oh Johnny, you're such a gaywad.

I would be appalled but I lost my capacity to be surprised by athletes' cupidity some time ago.

If Yankees fans start taking this attitude, however, I may find new reasons to despise them.

i've just discovered the Richard Hawley album "Coles Corner"...i think it might be my new favorite. I love "Born Under a Bad Sign".

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 22 December 2005 11:41 (twenty years ago)

BOSTON--In his new book Idiot: Beating the Curse and Enjoying the Game of Life, Red Sox star Johnny Damon confesses to cheating on his first wife several times with dozens of different women. The most shocking revelation comes in the third chapter when he admits to having sex with nine different women while his wife was in labor. According to Damon, the sex acts all took place in the maternity ward, including one encounter that occurred on the bed adjacent to the former Mrs. Damon as she struggled to deliver their first child.

In an interview with David Letterman, Damon played down the incidents, saying he was “just trying to have some fun.”

“You know, I’m kind of a wild man,” he said. “I love to have fun, you know. Well, when my wife went into labor, it was kind of a drag. It was taking forever and I had to sit there and wait. But I’m not the kind of person who can sit still for too long, so I went out into the halls looking for a little adventure. Well I found it. I banged 9 nurses during my wife’s 36-hour labor. It was a lot more fun than sitting in that stuffy little room and listening to her complain.”

Damon went on to describe the encounters in graphic detail.

“I got bored in the delivery room so I decided to go for a walk down the hall,” he said. “And you know how it is being a major league ballplayer. There are always plenty of girls available, if you know what I mean. I met the first one as she was wheeling an old unconscious guy down the hall. She said ‘Hey, you’re Johnny Damon from the Royals, right?’ I said ‘Yes’ and we had sex right there. That’s one.”

“Numbers two, three, and four happened simultaneously,” he continued. “They were candy stripers or something, I don’t know. Just a few teenagers. They were by the water fountain I was drinking out of after I banged the first girl. Well, once they realized who I was, we all went right into the bathroom and had a foursome, all while my wife was in labor. It probably sounds cruel, but you have to understand that I can’t be tied down to being a ‘husband’ and ‘father.’ I wanted to live. I wanted to do things like fish, rock climb, wind surf, and ruin my wife’s life.”

The rest of the women were also nurses, including the one who was assisting in the delivery of Damon’s first born son.

“She was pretty hot, especially when she was screaming ‘Push! Harder! Harder! Man, that was sexy,” he said. “So I just looked at her, she looked at me, and the next thing you know we were screwing our brains out on the bed next to my wife. My wife was all screaming at me and calling me names. But that’s how she was. She always liked to nag. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and we had to go in a different room. I could still hear her nagging, though, so I had the doctor wheel her bed out to the parking lot.”

In the book, Damon describes his first wife, Angie Vannice, as an overbearing nuisance who cramped his style and prevented him from having fun and living his life. However, Vannice disputed that account and accused Damon of being more interested in partying than taking care of his family.

“I think it’s absolutely absurd that he would come out and say those things,” said Vannice. “He’s actually bragging about cheating on me while I was sitting at home with the kids. And that story about the nurse at the hospital? That’s typical Johnny. He started having sex with her on the bed next to me while I was in labor. As you can imagine, I was pissed. I knew Johnny loved women, but he had never taken his obsession this far. This was the nurse that was delivering my baby, for God’s sake. Not only that, she was about 70 years old. I guess he didn’t put that in the book.”

Still, Damon refuses to apologize for his actions. Right or wrong, the self proclaimed “idiot” says he has no regrets.

“Hey, that’s just the way I was back then. I wasn’t happy in my marriage, and that’s just how I dealt with it,” he said. “See, ballplayers are a different breed. With all the women throwing themselves at you, it can be hard to resist. I can’t even keep track of all the girls I slept with back then. Half of time I didn’t even know their names. My ex-wife, she was a nice lady but she wasn’t right for me. She was, like, totally obsessed with being a caring mother and doting over our children. Boring!”

Damon also said he is working on a sequel to the book in which he admits to cheating on his current wife.

Woo hoo! Last day before my Christmas holiday, where I can work for four straight days uninterrupted on my other job! I'm so tired!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

Oh Huk!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

Well, the good news is that my other job totally appreciates me and are loving the work I'm doing for them, so the likelihood of getting to quit my dayjob increases by the minute. But LAND SAKES! I'm working hard.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

How long before you'll be able to quit, do you think?

End of Feb, probably, though I'm 90% sure I'm going to have to take some time off towards the end of the project as it intensifies.
I'm not quite running myself ragged, but I'm close. And I don't think I'll really spend the next four days JUST working on this project. All of tomorrow, sure, but I'm not really stressed about things and I'm having a lot of fun, but it's just like, I've been working at this mindless dayjob for so long that I think I'm too easily worn out by real work.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

I started the 'holiday season' quite Scroogesque, but the relentless Xmas songs invariably wear me down. I played this at my party last weekend and it still has me in a jaunty mood.

The snow is snowing, the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
I've got my love to keep me warm

I can't remember a worse December
Just watch those icicles form!
Oh, what do I care if icicles form?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm

Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm

The snow is snowing, the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
I've got my love to keep me warm

I can't remember a worse December
Just watch those icicles form!
What do I care if icicles form?
I've got my love to keep me warm

Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm

Frosty the Snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of turds

Frosty the Snowman
Is a fairytale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around

Frosty the Snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Frosty the Snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away

Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square
Saying catch me if you can

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler stop

Frosty the Snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye
Saying don't you cry
I'll be back again some day

Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Look at Frosty go
Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Over the hills of snow

if you find a small class with a teacher who's experienced and attentive to the individual it's best when you have health concerns...the teacher can suggest alternate postures or variations or whatever. yoga can be pretty great, and get you all relaxy in addition to being flexy bendy so that you can go home and be all smooooth with your wife.

my parents are coming by today, they had better bring me cookies. it may well be a quiet christmas weekend, since they don't seem too enthralled to visit me much, so i'd better have some good cookies to go with my dvds...

I think I have an ulcer. I have pain in my upper stomach. It feels like someone punched me there about an hour ago and I'm still recovering. It woke me up in the middle of the night. I took 2 malox and figured that would help. It did, but I woke up with the same pain this morning. Can you just suddenly develop an ulcer without having any warning signs?

Je4nn3 ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Yes. Many of them are actually caused by a virus, so while difficult to treat, they are treatable.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

sorry for being pedantic about such things, but they're bacterial actually. the guy who got the nobel prize for his work on them guzzled the bacteria in question to give himself ulcers, and then took the appropriate antibiotics and cured himself to prove his theory that it wasn't stress, but an organism causing it. not that you necessarily care about the details. but yeah, they're treatable.

gmorning all. i hate my neighbors. they woke me up at 3 am for the second night in a row with their bad loud hip hop. mess with my sleep, incur my wrath.

Juulia (julesbdules), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 16:42 (twenty years ago)

I just did one of my periodic major-restock grocery shopping trips, and got a cab home. While waiting for the taxi, I (a 46 year old white man, for those who don't know) listened to Ghostface Killah on my diskman; and then the car arrived, driven by a young black guy, who proceeded to start playing Elaine Paige (I think it was - something very MOR West End show in style, anyway) on the car stereo. I was tempted to point out that this seemed a little ironic, but I thought he'd probably have taken it as an insult or something, which I suppose it would have been, so I kept quiet.

Hi, Huck!

Martin, maybe the cab driver was trying to make you feel more comfortable by playing something he thought you'd might like. OR it could be that he really liked that kind of thing, as you said.

I've been off since last Wednesday and am going to be off until the 4th, but my time off has been busier than any time NOT off. I can't believe how many things needed to be taken care of! Ah well. It did allow me to have fun on my *sucks breath in* TWENTY-SIXTH birthday. God, hard to believe I'm already that age.

Anyway. I have some things to do, but I'll try to drop on in here every once in awhile. Oh, and *hugs* to Julia.

It was our friend's birthday last night so a party of us went to a tolerably good French (surprised?) restaurant and then came back to our 'hood and went to the local Irish bar where we ended up doused in inferior champagne. My gf and our friend (who spent the night) went home around one AM though I soldiered on through two after hours lock-ins in the local bars. When I got home around three in the morning, the girls were still up, drinking cognac and dancing to Sam Cooke. In honor of Chris, and due to the effects of some rather lovely weed, I serenaded them with 'Born Under a Bad Sign' and then passed out.

We served it with a choice of maple syrup, apricot preserves, some wierd berry preserve, or marmalade. That was all I managed to eat on Sunday.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Iguanas get most of their hydration through their skin. Their natural habitat is very humid so it's very easy for them to dehydrate in captivity.

It also helps them shed and they usually take their daily poo in the water which makes for much easier clean up.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:35 (twenty years ago)

JC or MJ: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! ugh just got off a 30-min. phone conversation with my brother. My mother and aunt are having tension now that my grandmother's gone. It's been building rapidly since the house sold and has become quite uncomfortable for all. I'm closer to my aunt and my brother's closer to my mom. We hashed out our different sides and he said since I'm the woman and therefore more respected by the both of them I must play peacemaker.

This means probably a 2 hour phone conversation with my mother tomorrow. Dammit, just when I'm in a therapy-break.

Ok I'm sitting in bed watching Texas play for the national championship and interwebbing. This is because I finally got my xmas present today.

G. said he ordered it late but it was coming, blah blah. All week I've been saying how I was waiting to do the floors until my xmas present got here. I was expecting the pink vacuum. I was wrong. UPS brought me a laptop. *wheee*

Now I'm glad I bought him that fancy car stereo instead of just a framed picture of the dog.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 5 January 2006 02:40 (twenty years ago)

omg. . .my school just won the college football national championship for the first time in 30 years. I'm just in. . .awe. It was an unbelievable game down to the wire.

I have no idea how I'm going to get to sleep now.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 5 January 2006 05:36 (twenty years ago)

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Thursday, 5 January 2006 11:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh no Chris, that sucks!

Glad you got the pressie you wanted Sam.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 5 January 2006 11:14 (twenty years ago)

I was divided as to whom to root for in the game last night. At first I was inclined to root for the California team but I am far from fond of USC and Austin qualifies as one of the coolest parts of Texas so I was torn. Incredible game to watch for a neutral. Congrats, Sam, on the victory and on your unexpected present.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 5 January 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

ah chris that sucks. be careful.

yes I'm feeling tired this morning, too much late-night excitement.

Now I have to deal with dumb family problems. bleh.

glad it's Thursday.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 5 January 2006 16:28 (twenty years ago)

today i called in because my furnace shit the bed! $5000! WHOOPEE! Part of my hopes to get fired though, so i can collect and get motivated to find a new job.. I did get a call from another bank yesterday, but im not sure if i want to work for a bank again.

slow jamz and white guy indie acoustic shit (Chris V), Friday, 6 January 2006 12:33 (twenty years ago)

Yikes, Chris! What a time for the furnace to go out.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 6 January 2006 16:39 (twenty years ago)

what did it do? burn up?

glad it's friday.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 6 January 2006 17:16 (twenty years ago)

Not glad it's monday.

The pranksters on the night shift have turned on the auto-answer thing on my voicemail, so I don't even hear my phone ring anymore, and I can't be bothered to figure out how to turn it off--and fuck, all day long I answer calls for the night shift, including one guy who seems to be in serious credit card trouble, and it's really, I don't know, NOT MY BUSINESS to keep taking messages for him to URGENTLY call Credit Card Company A, B, or C, but apparently the two or three times a week my phone might ring in the evening was driving him bonkers? FUCK YOU BUDDY!
But now, despite the fact that voicemail message clearly gives my name I just listened to a message where somebody referred to me by a similar, but not correct name. So I'm not calling them back, and I've erased the message. I don't even know what it was about, but it clearly wasn't anything beneficial TO ME, otherwise they would know my goddamn name.
I'm in a warpath kinda mood today. I think it's because the new interns are here and they all seem like losers and the rest of the staff is being all buddy, buddy with them, and it just reinforces blah blah blah my failure to manifest any meaningful friendships/acquaintanceships/etc FUCK ALL THE YOKELS IN THE EYE HOLE.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:04 (twenty years ago)

did you sleep okay last night huk?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:06 (twenty years ago)

Phones are the devil's work.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:09 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I went to bed quite early, though I awoke several times throughout the night, and at 4 a.m. actually considered just getting the fuck out of bed and starting my day. But I stayed, and by 7:15 I was all, "just five more minutes, mom!" Even though my mom doesn't live in my apt.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:43 (twenty years ago)

why do dogs prefer cat food?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

the lure of the forbidden!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:47 (twenty years ago)

Man I have been in a rotten mood lately.

sgs (sgs), Monday, 9 January 2006 17:53 (twenty years ago)

but the cat never touches the dog food!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 9 January 2006 18:00 (twenty years ago)

Cats are picky, dogs eat their own poop!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 9 January 2006 18:07 (twenty years ago)

Hey guys, thanks for the birthday wishes earlier upthread. Yeah, I'm about a week late, but.... Eh. Anyway. My dog is pretty nonfussy about eating stuff that's supposed to be eaten, but she only gets the regular dog food and some human food. She loves fries and hot dogs most of all. But we usually keep her on a regular diet and that's why her, um, #2 is well-formed and easy to pick up with a paper towel (when it's raining outside, she's loath to do her business out there). And that'll be it for my contribution of the week. ;)

It's Me Again, But Only For A Limited Time (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 07:51 (twenty years ago)

Sorry about your mood sgs :(

Still, we're talking about dog poop, that's got to help. (Hey Dee!)

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:24 (twenty years ago)

Someone tell me why abandoning my life and packing up and moving to the west coast before the end of the month is a bad idea.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

I don't think it is Huk.

Dee! I've been wondering where you were!

Missy eats any poop she finds. I have to keep a close eye on her on walks.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Do you think it's time for an '06 thread?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:13 (twenty years ago)

Sure. The yuletide has passed.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

Where is everyone? Why don't they post on this thread anymore? I know Sarah & Nick tend to participate in the Chicago threads, but there used to be lots of us! *sigh*

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:25 (twenty years ago)

i've become more and more of a lurker wherever i go, but i still try to keep up on how everyone's doing on here...

hi though.

Juulia (julesbdules), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:28 (twenty years ago)

Hi Julia! How are things going with you?!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:35 (twenty years ago)

Hi Pink. How's everything?

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:37 (twenty years ago)

I got a weird out of the blue phone call the other from the girl who broke my heart ten years ago. I think she was reaching out to me, as her life hasn't turned out the way she thought and certainly she hasn't found anyone who loves her as purely and sincerely as 18-yr-old me did.
It was weird to talk to her and have her remind me of how idealistic and wild I was, and how, I don't know, how I've sort of turned my back on so much and lowered my expectations, and I don't think she's lowered hers and that's why she's so blue and she was hoping that everything had turned out for me and that there was hope for dreamers and that I would maybe come to her as I did nine years ago when she was blue and had just broken up with the guy she dumped me for (or rather the guy she went back to after a 9 month whirlwind interlude with me).
I've been feeling sad and lonely ever since. Maybe I should go have a great Ontario adventure again.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 13 January 2006 16:44 (twenty years ago)

be careful of retreading past loves. ..

I don't know where everyone's gone. Yeah there's been lots of regionalization (sucks) but then people like Luna and Dee have just vanished.

So new thread? The Xmas title makes this feel old.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 13 January 2006 17:21 (twenty years ago)

Ok here's a new thread

TITTWIS 40: We don't need no stinkin' paper bag!

and here's to a new year!
