Black sable one day, next day it goes into hock, but I'm here. Top billing Monday, Tuesday you're touring in stock, but I'm here. First you're another sloe-eyed vamp, then someone's mother, then you're camp, then you career from career to career. I'm almost through my memoirs... and I'm here.?I've gotten through "Hey, lady, aren't you whoozis? Wow! What a looker you were." Or, better yet, "Sorry, I thought you were whoozis, whatever happened to her?" Good times and bum times, I've seen 'em all and, my dear, I'm still here. Flush velvet sometimes, sometimes just pretzels and beer, but I'm here. I've run the gamut. A to Z. Three cheers and dammit, c'est la vie. I got through all of last year, and I'm here. Lord knows, at least I was there, and I'm here! Look who's here! I'm still here!

I doubt anyone would bother if I quietly slid away, but I'm not quite ready to go yet. I would like to FAP more as ILX IRL >>>>> the bloody web.

This is the only message board I've ever posted for a longer time, and I wasn't aware of Interweb dynamics, so I couldn't imagine so many folks would be content in only reading what others say. Earlier that year for ILM. I'd like to claim my first post was on the Death Of Pop thread - which came up in conversation again this week (and blimey, Oxide and Neutrino = 5 years old?). It was actually passing on an anecdote on an Avalanches thread in February. I told mark s to Fuck Off on my fifth post! Also I mentioned a Stan Rogers song called Lies as being something that will always move me to tears, except I've forgotten it since.

Never attended a FAP, though did meet some ilxors at a poptimism event about 18 months ago. One of the many downsides of living in the sticks.

Just because you haven't posted it to an "Excelsior" thread doesn't mean that others don't find it funny.

Indeed. Seems like there's a handful of people on ILX who actually find this sort of thing fun, whereas to rest of us it's just weird, obsessive behaviour.

I've often wondered what might happen if someone from ILX died suddenly, for whatever reason, or whether or not its actually happened to one of the several posters who have stopped posting over the years, especially those from further afield.
-- Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 July 2004 12:10 (3 years ago) Link
i've wondered the same. i remember someone mentioning three (known) deceased from ILX. i know of one very tragic instance, but have no idea if there are others or who they were. of course, this is something one could never ask about openly as this is likely ILX's most verboten topic.
― sanskrit, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:52 (seventeen years ago)
everyone says 3 but no one ever knows who the third is
― DG, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:53 (seventeen years ago)
I don't even know who the second is?
I guess maybe it's something people close to the deceased don't want to discuss? I have no idea, actually.
― Pashmina, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:57 (seventeen years ago)
presumably one of the three is the late great Nick K
― blueski, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:58 (seventeen years ago)
Nick K, of course. How embarrasing to have forgotten, gah.

― DG, Monday, 19 November 2007 16:03 (seventeen years ago)
I don't think there is a third person.

Someone's girlfriend, who was known to some of the s*n*st*r lot died a couple of years ago - he started a thread about it at the time, though I don't think she ever posted her herself. I'm guessing that might be the third though?
― ailsa, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:26 (seventeen years ago)
are talking 2005? around july?
― DG, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:28 (seventeen years ago)
Oh yes, I knew her a bit, we were fellow Michiganders. Don't believe I know Nick K, tho.
― Laurel, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
Anyway the point is gygax RIP.
there are a few other things like that tho, as in 'someone an ilxor was close to/mentioned on board' (xps)
― blueski, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
The one Laurel and I are referring to was later on in 2005. Her boyfriend was a lurker, posts occasionally (though I don't read as much as I used to so no idea if she still does), she didn't post here at all but was known to a few of us.
― ailsa, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:43 (seventeen years ago)
oh then we haven't even done number 2 yet!

ugh, if HE still does.

I think Liz is the one most people would think of first, tbh.
― ailsa, Monday, 19 November 2007 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
Oh God, sorry, that sounds like I'm ranking it or something. There's no nice and respectful way to talk about this, is there? But I'm guessing the three are Liz, Nick and A.N. Other that no-one on this thread's quite sure about.

chaki, with the greatest of respect, fuck off. You want to discuss something where everyone's assuming everyone knows the same as they do then find out they aren't all coming from the same place but no-one wants to come out and actually clarify what they're talking about...oh, wait...
