So you got the sword and shield. now what?

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 08:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh! Hello! Well if you really want to know my Zelda progress - righty!!

Right then after faffing about in the Kokiri forest for yonks, I eventually got enough money for a shield. I then wandered about for ages going AHA! I shall DEFEND myself from you EVIL ROCK!! Then I found the Lost Woods and found some strange skull kids, but couldn't do anything with them. On returning to the Kokiri forest, I went back to the training grounds, just for a turkish, and then found a SECRET PASSAGE!

Rar!! Then I had to go through a bit of a maze thing with a ROLLING STONE (not the scary one, just a huge deadly stone of death) and then CHEERS CHEERS I found the Kokiri sword! K-grebt! On escaping I was very impressed with the Jump Attack but I am still not very good at the FITE!

HAHA in your FACE Mido, I haf equipped a SWORD and a SHIELD. I then wandered along to the poor old cursed GRATE DEKU TREE - poor Deku tree! And then I found lots of deadly plants haha ph34r m3 plantZoR for I kicked their ass. Then I got deku stixx0r and deku nuts and a slingshot, kblimey. I found a compass and map, and fought a horrible scary spider thing by attacking it's BELLY.

I then ASCENDED something and then decided cor blimey I am knackered and Help I'm a Sleb Get Me Out Of Here was on, so I saved the game and watched Tara PT being a mentalist.

Zelda is better now than I thought it was. HAHA!

*slashes KICK ASS Kokiri sword*!

My fairy is very cute.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:05 (twenty-three years ago)

When I got the sword I was very happy that FINALLY I could cut the cockfarming grass in front of Sarias house.

The Lost Woods are a pain in the knickers too. Can I do anything there now I have a sword? I feel mean attacking the skull kidZoR with my SWORD as they have done nothing to me.

Oh hahaha when I beat up the evil scrub plant and it told me a hint in order for me not to kill it I felt OH SO IN CONTROL - give me POWER!! POWER!!!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:07 (twenty-three years ago)

and Link is such a little cutie! i heart the "opening treasure chest" sequence.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes yes you are so right! I love it when Navi says "listen"!!!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:23 (twenty-three years ago)

And the way he kicks his legs and nearly falls into the treasure chest! Yayee!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:23 (twenty-three years ago)

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :-) x1000

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you think anyone else is at all interested? or, "making private e-mail exchanges public, classic or dudddd?"

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:25 (twenty-three years ago)

i like the way bill the demon goes pink when he dies, even in the green and blue rings of hell

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh the spiderzz0r go pink when they die as well HA HA I dislike the spiders, they are evil.

Z Targeting is proving a bit handy but still a bit fiddly.

I feel very sad whenever Link dies!

And when he gets hurt there is such a SCREAM of pain!

Waaaaaaaaaaa poor Link, what I put him through for kicks.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I remember when I owned this game. Not in the sense that I purchased it (though I did) but I OWNED it. OwnXoRed, if you will. Now I can only vaguely remember which bits are in the first and which are in the sequel. The sequel also rules.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 5 September 2002 10:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Can you do it on email you swines so that I dont get spoilers for when I play it??

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 5 September 2002 10:55 (twenty-three years ago)

So it's true that you sit at the center of the web, and all the information comes scrolling past, while you sit like Alex from Clockwork Orange?

Obviously if it is, you're excused from replying.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom you sit and watch me play it anyway!!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:24 (twenty-three years ago)

For some reason i just had the image of Tom as the Great Deku Tree. which is wrong.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:25 (twenty-three years ago)

No Tom I want to hear! I get the feeling this will eventually rank up with the colon-flushing article as one of the best things I've read in years.

Sarah Sarah the one consolation to faffing about in the Lost Woods forever (and don't worry, you'll figure it out quite quickly) is that you get to hear SARIA'S SONG, which is perhaps the best piece of video game music ever written. LEEsten!

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Heeeee!! LEEEsen!!! I 3> Navi although "who are you calling a fairy" hur hur hur.

Hmmm the skull kidZ0r said that maybe they should do something so I am guessing I have to bring them something, do I need to bring them an instrument so they sing me a song?

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:53 (twenty-three years ago)

you have much to learn young Link

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

PI! I dunno!! Or maybe they sing cos they are happy when I cure the Great Deku Tree!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 11:57 (twenty-three years ago)

So, have you given the GDT a hand with that spot of bother he was having?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 5 September 2002 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)

No not yet, I am still climbing up his interior walls (ahem poo ur gosh) and haf fought a few evil scary spiderzzzz. Gosh I am such a cute little pixie.

YAAH! *jump attack*!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 5 September 2002 12:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh my GOD! This is the greatest thread ever. Can it have its own board? I Lub Zeldas.

david h (david h), Thursday, 5 September 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

LEEsen!!!! Saria's Song *melts into the lukewarmth buttery slop of time fricting against denser time*...

david h (david h), Thursday, 5 September 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Goron! They're called the Goron for crucks' sake. And they do this wobbly huh when they awake from their huddle-as-rock slumber. And, and, and... God, for some reasons I'm really happy Tom is going to play this, and even more happy that Sarah and Alan have played it. The name of the horse. My god, what a name.

david h (david h), Thursday, 5 September 2002 18:47 (twenty-three years ago)

JUMP ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES, YOU ARE SOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

david h (david h), Thursday, 5 September 2002 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

David I appreciate your being influenced by my innovative six-posts-in-a-row stylings, but DON'T TALK AHEAD OF WHERE SARAH IS IN THE GAME!

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 5 September 2002 19:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Imagine when she founds the whole world there is outside that damn village and finally gets big! Horseriding throughout the country CLASSIC

vic (vicc13), Thursday, 5 September 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, bugger. Yeh. OH. It is all one mine-meld for me, an amorphous map of loveliness. But, yeh, Sarah: sorry. God.

david h (david h), Friday, 6 September 2002 04:48 (twenty-three years ago)

It's a secret to everyone.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 6 September 2002 05:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Right then hello chaps and welcome to todays Starry Zelder update!

I am still faffing about in the GRATE DEKU TREE to yer GRATE DISAPPOINTMENT no doubt - but I managed to kill a *gold skulllalalala* or something and got a token to prove it, with hints from Alang I broke out of the room with iron bars, and then wandered about a bit, as I gather I am supposed to go into the basement of the GRATE DEKU TREE but I do not know how...

(hahaha I shall take the ring to Mordor but I do not know the way)!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 6 September 2002 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah and no HUGE GIANT SPOILAZZ please!!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 6 September 2002 07:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I mean SHEESH. Where is the damn entrance to the basement?? Navi told me that when I was on the spiders web on the ground floor to look down and I could see stuff but I dunno how to hack through the web! Possibly I am thinking now there is another BACK ENTRANCE (hur hur) to the GRATE DEKU TREE which I shd search for...

Sarah (starry), Friday, 6 September 2002 07:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually.

A HEM - nabitsuh. Remember these words: "Saria's song"? Thanks MUCH, fucker.

david h (david h), Friday, 6 September 2002 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

just tell me if link has pink hair in this adventure... he did on SNES Zelda, and was truly funky with it.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 6 September 2002 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

after reading this thread yesterday morning, my head was filled all day with "z0r" talk and such

ron (ron), Friday, 6 September 2002 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

LEEEsten!!

*kicks legs frantically*

Sarah (starry), Friday, 6 September 2002 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

David I thought ... oh, you're right, I got the order mixed up. But not as bad as talking about Gorons! I mean, at least she's met Saria!

Anyway so Sarah how do people usually wind up getting through real spiderwebs?

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 6 September 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

if you can't figure out the spiderweb good luck in the water temple...haha

jack, Friday, 6 September 2002 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

(I dunno, Jack, I remember the spiderweb messing with me for a little while. But I think this was because I'd somehow noticed my roommate using the ... ahem ... later-on technique for spiderweb removal? You know? And so it didn't occur to me that I was meant to do that first one in a slightly simpler fashion. Unless I'm misremembering this whole thing?)

Also SARAH: it's a very big game, so if you get stuck for a really long time on anything, don't be afraid to just look up the solution. Obviously you don't want to do that more than a few times, but the game is expansive enough that a few helpful answers won't ruin much of the fun.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 6 September 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

if you hear navi saying "hey!" or flying around, it means that there she has something to say....when you are in the deku tree she describes that particular technique needed to deal with the spiderweb...also use navi when you're at a boss, she will give hints too if you can't figure it out how to beat it

jack, Friday, 6 September 2002 19:24 (twenty-three years ago)

was it hey or listen? anyways, it's no coincidence that navi -----> navigator

jack, Friday, 6 September 2002 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I just re-bought it (my li'l bro selt my last one at a carbootsale). Second hand: the save name files:

CORRey
Eck
Beef

Beef and Eck was rub at this game so they're deleted. I kept CORRey in case I get bored with the early stages.

Save games on Second Hand Games = CLASSIC.

david h (david h), Saturday, 7 September 2002 09:58 (twenty-three years ago)

It's more "LiHSsun" than "LEEsen".

david h (david h), Saturday, 7 September 2002 10:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Right then you cockfarmers, of course I figured out how to get through the spiders webs!

OOhhh but the poor Deku tree! I kickz0red arse of the strange spider mentalist on the first attempt and got my extra Heart container, yay! B-b-but the poor Deku tree turned to stone! And when I ran away but Navi stayed being sad... awwww!

It is annoying how each time you save and go back you wake up back in the Kokiri village - grrr. Anyway, I got through the castle and learnt Zeldas lullaby and now I am in the village before the MOUNTAIN OF DEATH running about after chickens. Bloody chickens! I've also been to the graveyard and played Zeldas lullaby to open the tomb of the Royal Family but am not sure what do do in there yet. I am guessing, light the unlit torches and hem hem, shine light on the undead, but I don't know how. I also don't know how to get the chicken out of the box OR get the chicken that is on the roof. GAH!

And is there something you have to do with the men that keep running about?

Haha I like the gravedigger dude though.

OH and I need empty bottles to catch ghosts in. I was nearly killed by ghosts (but don't worry I am hard and kickxx0red ass). Stupid ghosts.

Hint?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 September 2002 08:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Also Navi keeps saying "what wd Saria say if she knew we were going to save Hyrule" - do you think that might be a hint that Link and Saria will be UP A TREE later on?? Hee!

Zelda is a bit of a hippy I think, but as for her dominatrix bodyguard woman, COR!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 September 2002 08:07 (twenty-three years ago)

So many things to see and do. chickuns! etc. so many possible things to hint at. what are you trying to do? you've got the lovely green jewelly thing from the Deku Tree spider beast effort, where next on your quest?

Also classic are the Banjo Tooie pisstakes of the End of Level boss "posturing" and silly names. ha ha.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 9 September 2002 08:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Well to go up death mountain, innit! But the road is closed so I am guessing I have to do more villagey stuff. I reckon you get an extra heart container if you save that birds chickens. But there are some I just can't get! CHIZ!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 September 2002 08:37 (twenty-three years ago)

the road is closed? surely not to a brave adventuring pixie boy that Princess Zelda herself is relying on! say it ain't so!

Alan (Alan), Monday, 9 September 2002 08:42 (twenty-three years ago)

A brave adventuring fecking CHICKEN finder.

I have no idea how to reach the geezer chicken on the roof.

Poor house of Skulltula though! I shall free their curse!! Oh yes!!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 September 2002 09:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah you had a very productive weekend on this, I'm quite proud.

Possibly the hint you're looking for: Earth chickens are flightless. You are in Hyrule.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 9 September 2002 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

unless you completely finished hyrule castle you won't be able to 'prove' that you can go up death mountain....

jack, Monday, 9 September 2002 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

oh god those effing chickens, i don't think i ever did get all of them. also don't turn into a grown up too quickly, which is what i did, i think i missed huge swathes of the game (masks and stuff)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 9 September 2002 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

But Carsmile, you can always go back!

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 9 September 2002 19:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Who cares abt the mini things? Masks and chikens, pfa!!! The only mini thing (ie subplot) you want to get is unbreakable (since I have to be cryptic) - don't listen to these fools, Sarah, y'll be there for yonks.

david h (david h), Monday, 9 September 2002 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Proof that big Link kiks small Link in the ass: HORSERIDING

vic (vicc13), Tuesday, 10 September 2002 00:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Right right right - aHA ph34r m3 chickun hatas, due to Alang shouting at me (and the Arsemonkey insulting the game and calling it shit and annoying me far too irrationally), I have now found the chickens and the hippy chick allergic to the Cuccos gave me a bottle. I thought YAY I shall fite a ghostie and catch it in a bottle but Alang said not to grrrr. I also got MASKS and gave one to the guard who is now wearing a fox mask hur hur. I currently have a skull mask but dunno what I am supposed to do with it. No-one seems like they want to buy it, even the little boy who says "sell me something with c, please, please".

Hmph.

Yes and then I showed the guard Zeldas letter and he let me go up the mountain. There were spiderzzz. I kicked their MO-FO-ing asses and then went to see the sleepy and hungry Gorons. Heh! THEN I had to go back to the lost woods, follow the song, and met up with Saria post-kickZor1ng ass of the bloody nasturtiums. Then I learnt Sarias song! People appear to like to dance to it. So hooray hooray cheers cheers Big Brother Goron was made happy and now I have to find another spiritual stone, and something about a Dodongo cavern, but by then I was too stressed and tired to play so I said bye bye to Alang and curled up on the sofa and watched Tom try to play Jak and Daxter and catch the sculptors muse.

Did you finally manage to catch it, Tom?

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 10 September 2002 12:29 (twenty-three years ago)

(i did none of these things.)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 10 September 2002 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

RIGHT THEN you Zelda experts will probably be bored to know that I am still faffing about in the Dodongo cavern - right now I am STUCK after making a lift go from the first floor to the second floor, big blooming deal. Apparently I have to make a Giant Dead Dodongo see red hoooom I am still PONDERING this one...

Sarah (starry), Monday, 23 September 2002 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

have you got anything new and exciting to play with?

Alan (Alan), Monday, 23 September 2002 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I just looked it up, I feel so DIRTY... so DIRTY... I looked up nothing else though and I was assuming it had something to do with placing a bomb somewhere...

Sarah (starry), Monday, 23 September 2002 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ah you got the bomb bag then. BOMB THE BIG DODONGO FACE'S EYES.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 23 September 2002 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha Alang my pet name for you is going to be YOU BIG DODONGO FACE!

(maybe)

Sarah (starry), Monday, 23 September 2002 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
hem

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oooh right I've done LOADS of things since then. But I am busy so I will tell you later! Don't let me forget...

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Last news had you mixing it with King of the Zoras (whose name I've already forgotten, despite having played through that bit just three days ago).

Getting to negative distance of a large fish is surely imminent!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

< surly>Nice one, Sarah< /surly>.

david h (david h), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Wot?? Why surly? I am upset now.

ANYWAY! *rises above snotty BOY*

Yes yes! I kept on wandering about in the Dodongo cavern and threw some BOMBz0r in the Dodongo's eyes. Then his tongue came down and I wandered FURTHER INTO THE ABYSS hem-hem. After faffing about with those annoying things in the air (Z-targeting is really starting to feck me off, might I add) which kept setting me on fire, I finally managed to meet the KING DODONGO who is a bit of a hardkore muthafucker yesno?

So what I did with him was use Z-TARGETING (when it WORKS that is) and chuck bombs in his mouth, and when they explode WHACK HIM argh argh argh with my sword and after what barely seemed any time at all he went on a little roll round his circuit and then fell into the pool in the centre. GRAND! I thort.

So then I got an extra heart container and BOOGIED AROUND THE ROOM to the theme of RA RA RASPUTIN (which was playing as I killed the Dodongo) and the SPIRITUAL STONE! And then I became SWORN BROTHERS with the Gorons HEH HEH.

So after that I bimbled up the mountain hello rocks hello... some more rocks and met the BIG FAIRY. She was quite frightening actually, I hope she doesn't turn out to be a baddie. She's got a lot of power and WE KNOW HOW POWER CORRUPTS ect ect. She taught me a new sword technique and then the owl took me er... somewhere.

Ah yes! Back to Hyrule Field. Then I found the Zoras. I like the Zoras! I learnt the diving game and got a letter in a bottle from Princess Rub(ato) and then showed it to the King, who let me go and see Lord Jabu-Jabu who is a stone fish (haha stonefish haha). I opened up the fish with an offering of well, a FISH and then entered into LORD JABU-JABU's BELLY!

Groo! It is not that mingy do not worry.

So now I have met the princess and she ran away down a hole. I went down a hole after her but she wasn't there, so I guess I have to return back there and go down another hole to try and find her. It is all quite confusing, even without the fact that I am wandering around the belly of a FISH GOD cor blimey trousis.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 1 November 2002 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

cool thread, its a great reminder. keep up the good battle sarah.
i can't wait for you to get to the ... ooooh.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Friday, 1 November 2002 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

What d'you mean "when it WORKS that is"? z-targeting = the single most important non-influential (haha Z-Targeting = UNKLE) 3D platforming/RPG innovation of ever. It means you can fight who you want to fight, in a non-random, semi-organised but not fascist (ie there is some skill involved, it isn't on rails). It WORKS to bits, you dodongo, you. God.

david h (david h), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I do love you to pieces though, Sarah. Keep firing like a Japanimatron chick. ;)

david h (david h), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
Right, heeeeere we go.... I nearly gave up with Lord Jabu Jabu's belly I must say, it took forever and became EXTREMELY IRRITATING but finally hooray I managed to get through all the electric things and got a BOOMERANG cheers cheers. I finally pick up the princess and get her to the boss parasite type thing and keep whacking it with the boomerang which roxx0r, until I finally realise I need to twat it with the sword. HAHAHA YORE DEAD I shout!!

The the princess and me STEP INTO THE LIGHT and she gives me the Spiritual Stone of Water which also doubles as the Zora's engagement ring which is rather worrying...

Then off to Hyrule Castle where some EVIL GIT is running away with Princess Zelda!! Blah blah blah. Zelda throws an ocarina into the river. Cheers Zelda... I go get the ocarina and then bob off to the temple ov time, play THE SONG OF TIME and cor blimey-o LOOK WOT HAPPENED. I get the Master Sword! But because I am not big enough to wield it and therefore become THE HERO OV TIME, they seal my spirit up in some tupperware for seven years and I go to sleep and grow up to become BIG AND STRONG!

Then a sage turns up and gives me his power and then I have to go and find BLOODY SARIA. As if I care.

The place has changed hasn't it? There are some scary people in Hyrule castle courtyard. I run past them. I now find that the Sun's song freezes them but I still can't kill em... EEK! I run off to the Kokiri forest to try and find Saria. There are now EVIL THINGS there and I take grebt pleasure in kicking their asses.

However the fairy folk are still nippers and I am all growed up!! Yikes! I wonder if Saria will be growed up when I see her, I hope so cos quite frankly the game will get dodgy if she doesn't... I reckon Saria is actually one of the sages and will give me her power when I eventually find her.

I can't remember how I knew this but she was in the Forest Temple. After getting lost in the Lost Woods for FIVE THOUSAND YEARS, I eventually draw a map and find my way to the sacred forest field - and a shortcut to the land of the GORONS surprisingly enough...

Am pleased to see that this time I do not have the overhead shot and the evil flowers again. Instead I have to look round the corners and hit EVIL GUARDS with my hookshot hahaha. Am annoyed that boomerang cannot be used by adult Link as I only just got it! Finally get past them and reach that bodyguard chicksa. THEN - the Forest Temple, where you'll currently find me having beaten two ghosts, trying to find the others.

Damn ghosts.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow I really need to take a day off with a bottle of fanta fruit twist or five alive and play Zelda all day to Ra Ra Rasputin again!!

Lover of the russian queen...

I think I might have to shoot some targets with my FAIRY BOW now. I tell you what, those hands that cling on to the wall and then jump down on you are right blooming bastards. The game is now getting quite scary and I'm nervous about fighting the BOSS. I found a KEY to get into his room in a fancy chest after I killed one of those scary hands. Zoiks!

I wonder if Saria has grown up...

"ooh STARRY i knew you would return..."

I wouldn't have bloody done if I'd known YOU'D still be about you weedy mare. Your bloody song gets stuck in my head and would it have been too much to give me some DIRECTIONS through the forest temple eh?! For a sage (ok I am only guessing this) she's rub.

dur dur dur, da da da, dododododod, lalalalalaaaaaar, durdurdurdurduuuuuur...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Pokemon game is out soon!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-b--but I have no Gameboy Advance and no way of affording one!!!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

If I get the new gameboy that's coming out (sometime this year, I hope), you can borrow mine if you like!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Crikey cheers Jel that wd roxx0r, but wd still mean that I wd have to buy the game and then have nothing to play it on... oh hold on I am ASSUMING that the new Pokémon games will have space for more than one saved game on each card (ridiculous)!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Right. I caught the ghosts! I caught the ghosts! All of them! I can't quite remember how, but I found a twisty corridor and made it untwisty which meant I could fall through a hole! In this hole I found a ghost who obviously has far too much time on it's hands AND A FEW BUILDING BLOCKS. (Oops caps lock). I have to rearrange these blocks to make a picture of a ghost and then the ghost will come out and try to kick ass for the pleasure. CHEERS GHOST.

HMPH I think, as I strike it down, there's gratitude for you. Ghost is duly tw4tted, then I go into the main circle and fight the purple ghost who splits into several ghosties. This doesn't take so long, then all the torches are lit and an elevator appears!

This leads me down to thee BOSS, the EVIL SPIRIT FROM BEYOND: THE PHANTOM GANOM!!

He is a double hard bastard and I have not killed him yet.

Git.

It's bloody stupid, you gotta target picture w/ yr arrows until you see a horse galloping towards you and if when he reaches the top he wheels back then you've got to get out of the arrow view, turn, try and z-target behind you IF IT WORKS, and then if he hits you you use TWO HEARTS!! Bloody hell. I hate him. I got very tired and grumpy at him last night and ate three croissants.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

though ganon in the forest temple is not the hardest of the bosses, it took me longer to defeat this boss than any other. i think poss cos he is the first "adult" boss.

oh, the excitement. oh, the intrigue.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if you miss the the first one you might do better by running around a bit so he doesn't hit you. Or maybe pulling out your shield. This is the dunggeon where you got your bow and arrer, yes?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

R-rrrrrrright GOOD THINKING young Farrell!! I shall action this as soon as I get home... the using the sword as a bat thing is rather tricky I reckon. Yep, I got my FAIRY BOW and FAIRY ARROWS *bounce* although did I mention I am annoyed I don't get to use the boomerang anymore? I haven't got a horse yet, I have tried to avoid spoilers but have I MISSED OUT cos I didn't go and see a film in Hyrule before I grew up cos that wd suxx0r.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

do not fret about missing out. the game is very well designed. i can't say any more than that

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Right after I twat this boss then I shall sod off to Lon Lon Ranch and get the er, ph4+ and sk1nny. Er possibly. I know the horse was scared of me when I was a nipper... I want to turf the bad guys off the ranch too cos a) that gurl was funny and b) the dad was funny and c) that Lon Lon milk cd come in handy!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, the ping-pong aspect of that boss fight is annoying. Do you have anything in yr bottles?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got two empty bottles and one bottle containing a Poe, that's it... I tried using some of my own magic but Dins Fire didn't seem to do anything. It sucks that there are no vases to smash or anything to get yourself a little bit of life when you're running low...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

too bad you cannot replenish them with Five Alive!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Woah Tracer hey man dude er heavy!

Did you KNOW that I was just thinking about Five Alive or what?? Do you work downstairs at our canteen?

Heavy, dude, woah...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Do yr canteen neighbors all possess mentalist abilities or something? Far out!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oo, Sarah, you've just caught up with where I left off on my second time through: maybe I will start up again and accompany you.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Nitsuh have you started again?? I have now BEATEN the evil phanton Ganom! He rode about in pictures a lot so I stood in the centre with my ARROW LOADED and aimed at him when he rode towards me, eventually he lost his horse and came out of the pictures!! Then I don't know what I did, but standing underneath him and SLASHING (hii-YA!) seemed to bring him down to earth so I could TWAT HIM hahahahahahhahaha. When he lost he got a telling off from his BOSS the grebt Gamondorf as well how I larffed. But oh no I only had a heart left! Luckily I got a new heart container!

Shall I say anymore or will it be SPOILERS for poor Nitsuh?

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

That first Ganondorf is the hardest boss in the game, Sarah.

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 30 January 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

have you done anything exciting with yr glass bottles yet?

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 30 January 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Nitsuh has been through it! Well cripes if only Saria wasn't a sage (blah I guessed that already) - it was quite HEARTRENDING actually, she and I aren't the same people and can't see each other, but she'll always be my friend! Blub! I hope I don't end up getting together with Zelda in the end, no offence love but that is ever so clichéd, also Zelda is a woos wot got kidnapped. She should have equipped a SWORD and gone HACK SLASH hiii-ya like what I do!

Anyway. Gorons Gorons lovely Gorons. Aren't they lovely? I stopped one in Goron City and it started to cry because it was sad and it's dad had gone to try and save the Gorons from the evil dragon VALVAG1N4 (or something) so then HOORAY off I go to DEATH MOUNTAIN CRATER! There that Sheikah teaches me the BOLERO OF FIRE (this is getting ridiculous) which is quite good actually and OFF TO THE FIRE TEMPLE! The fire temple is a pain, it has all sorts of rub. I am stuck there at the moment but I have freed two Gorons, wizz!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh didn't see Alangs post - no I haven't done anything with my bottles yet apart from sell a few Poes to the geezer at Hyrule Castle gates and quite frankly I dunno what yr on about! I went back as Little Link and got some Lon Lon milk though.

ALSO I can't beat Ingo in the bloody race round the corral.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
Who let the Gorons out! Who! Who! Who!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 February 2003 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be guessing that's you. Am I right?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 February 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
That would be me!

Right I still haven't caught any fairies in bottles. It sounds a bit cruel to me, after all, Navi is a fairy and I wouldn't lock up Navi in a bottle! Instead I filled up THREE BOTTLES with Lon Lon milk in order to beat the subterranean lava dragon VOLVAGIA - who is a (ahem), giant pulsing snake, who ERUPTS from steaming holes in the ground and... erm... spouts out fire... do we have a little too much time on our hands Mr End of Level Boss Designer? Do we have some issues? Anyway. Volvagia was quite hard to get the hang of. If it wasn't for me remembering about the Lon Lon milk I would have stood no chance, but hooray for LLM restoring 5 hearts! Grand altogether! Dead dragon. I must say THANKS NAVI for being no help at all whatsoever.

"Ooh I don't know how to fight this"

Cheers Navi neither do I, but I am guessing it is something to do with this new item I haf VIZ thee MEGATON HAMMER! Thwack thwack.

So anyway, giant dragon is now beaten and the cloud above Death Mountain has gone back to normal. I can't be bothered to race Ingo around the corral so I am trying to find what to do next. Navi keeps burbling about an arctic breeze blowing from Zoras river. So what do you know, I go all the way over there and Navi is korreckt for all is FROZEN over! And the king is trapped in some strawberry jelly. I tried whacking him and even used DINS FIRE to try and thaw him out and find what's going on but to no avail. Lord Jabu Jabu has also seemingly gone for a wander, but I got another heart piece from where he used to be.

Therefore, I am now at a loss of what to do. A wander round the map took me to the valley of the gerudos but there was nowt there. A wander to the lake just got me wet. Blooming Zoras.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I should send this thread off to job agencies to get myself a job as a games tester. I mean look at the STUNNING ANALYESES (probably a SIC there) of the gameplay here. Fantastic stuff. Can I be a games tester? And when do I get to learn another song for the ocarina? And will I *ever* get Epona?

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Gerudo Valley is k-classic, Sarah. "OH, don't look at me you pesky guard, I am stealthing." *whistle* Twee Metal Gear Solid, without the neck breaking and stuffing into lockers.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You're probably being self-deprecating, but I was thinking exactly the same thing as I read that last bit. You'd make a great games reviewer for EDGE or something like that. Not that you porbably don't want to write for *spit spit* EDGE.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmmm:

http://www.games-chart.com/files/linkrender1.JPG

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you have to look a bit closer around where Jabu-Jabu was.

And you know what you have to do to get Epona, so get to it.

Why the Edge hate? It knows its niche and sticks to it.

I am going on holiday soon, and when I return I will have Zelda waiting for me. Sweet.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Why the EDGE hate?

Because they probably wouldn't even read what Sarah just wrote (stage left, confidently stated: the best games writing I ever read) never mind consider the possibility of her writing for them. Probably. Maybe.

Also, their reviews focus too much on plot. Ie, at all.

Nice front covers, though.

Returning from holiday to find Zelda waiting = k-sweet.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Uhgughuishg GAMECUBE. I must prod Alang when he comes back from the git to come and watch the new Zelda. I will bring pie.

I wub EDGE magazine! I haf never bought it for I am a pov, but I always nick Tom's copies. Sorry Tom I accidentally split wax all over the RETRO (the black one) edition and now it's a bit manky. Games testers seem to get paid squillions too. I WANT IN! Actually, J was telling me about a mate of hers who is a tester for a certain omnipresent games company (cough cough)... I wonder if I could kill him and pretend to be him for a little while.

I think I should go and look at the EDGE forums.

Ug - although this could be dangerous. I started writing a FEMINIST RANT re: their GURLS issue the other day and it's probably a bad idea for it to see the light of day seeing as it basically just goes STOP SEEING GURLS AS "THE OTHER" for once wouldja please?! I felt more excluded from the gaming world in the gurls issue than I usually do. The post-Lara woman. OH THAT'S NOT BEEN DONE BEFORE cheers Edge magazine. I'd be more interested in the post-Zelda women myself. Who *cares* about Jen from Primal. Certainly not I.

However I am biased due to not really being able afford a) consoles b) games c) games magazines har har. Maybe I'd care if I had the game but I doubt it.

No no... must suppress urge for feminist rant abt games haven't even played...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Post it, post it, post it.

I think becoming a games tester is really difficult and you need to live in one of those Sheffield places, like Birmingham.

EDGE is far too expensive. Nice matt cover. Great ratings system (ie well applied). The RETRO one looks a!c!e but the EQUIP one (the new series) looks k-dud Industry Insider style. Tho' I haven't picked it up yet just looked at it from across a dingy WH Smiths.

I used to post at the EDGE forums but I can't find them anymore.

RANT!

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Just incidentally, Sarah, you work an' that right? What do you spend your money on?

I only ask 'cos I live on like £15 a week for lunch, drink, delicate comestibles, magazines, and music (cleaning, electricity, rent, normal food all-inclusive) and still manage to buy myself a copy of EDGE and WIRE every month when they come out.

You do live in London, though. True.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It *is* a bit of a pain to get Epona. You have to beat Ingo twice (which I am finding really quite annoyingly difficult) and if you lose, you lose yer moneys. So then you have to restart again or bog off back to Hyrule to try and get some wonga from somewhere. Blah blah. If it wasn't for the opening sequence looking GRATE then I wdn't even be bothering...

I hope there's going to be a bit more story concerning Lord Jabu Jabu coming up soon. I've had to mess around in his belly and now I appear to have to be in his domain AGAIN - there'd better be a REASON for this Miyamoto.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(Sorry to keep hogging yr thread but -)

YOU MUST GET EPONA!!! IT IS THE SINGLE BEST THING IN THE GAME.

OOOOOH, actually, I just rememebered, besides the UNBREAKABLE Goron sword.

re:Lord Jabu Jabu - if you've done the belly-test (which is k-annoying) look out because here comes the worst temple in the game (you're big Link, right?) - The Water Temple! Urgh.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me guess, the Zora princess awakens as the next Sage, right? At least it'll get me out marrying her, the annoying bint. There's no way I'm carrying her about all the time especially not after she forces me into marriage.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Who is yr favourite character, Sarah?

I really like Sheik (?), the purple guy with the blonde hair that hangs over his right eye. Mmm. Nice. And in Smash Bros. he throws Ninja Stars and has an electric whip!

And, kinda, goes ya-ya-ya-YA!

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh?! I thought that was a burd! In fact, I believe yes, it's a woman, right? Or am I projecting the whole feminist thing again? Oh, I can't post on the forums as they're down at the moment for some reason.

I think I like LITTLE LINK the bestest. It's all to do with the hii-YA! And the way he wobbles and nearly falls into the treasure chests! Classic! I am also very amused by the grumpy guy in the windmill. Fnur. I am irritated by the guy who wants me to sell him something with C bcz he will not buy my yellow mask. I think I am not very good in the entrepeneurial world of Hyrule.

Curse you, I'm going to buy Edge magazine at lunchtime. Curses curses.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it is a burd but I thought if I said he was a girl it woulda been a massive spoiler along the lines of 'it sinks' and 'Samus is a chick'. It's actually... Well, I won't spoil that, you probably know anyway, but if you don't then it's something to be disappointed by eventually.

New EDGE: new Zelda review. Pics, pics.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah:

You might like this.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

When you first meet her you know she's a burd!! I haven't read any spoilers or walkthroughs for the game! I have bought the new Edge. WH Smiths had sold out and GAME only had one copy left and now it is in my gubby little paws.

HAHA!

Also a HUGE GRRR to Simon Byron. Jaysus christ did they run out of trained monkeys to write columns for them?

I like the look of all these cel-shaded games coming out. At least hopefully we can start moving away from characters who ALL LOOK LIKE THE SAME POLYGONS MESHED TOGETHER yawn yawn and thrice yawn.

Gosh I must play Zelda again tonight. Also I must change my bedsheets.

I feel left out with EDGE magazine for I don't know what Everquest is. Is it like DOOM?!

Doom doom doom, doom doom doom, doom doom (god can you tell I watched loads of Invader Zim)...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Who *cares* about Jen from Primal. Certainly not I.

Or, apparently, anyone else. Hahaha. Oh, bollocks. (sound of another good game going into oblivion)

Actually, the Samus Aran thing is an interesting point: is it a step in the right direction to have more characters which are in passing girls, eg Samus and Sheik? Having played Metroid Prime into a bloody pulp over the weekend, it's almost never mentioned (except one of the chozo lores sez "and a figure is becomign clear in our visions... a woman?" Yes, she's a bird, but then so are the rest of you).

Problem with that idea: Samus Aran is not a new character, and indeed predates Lara Croft.

Sarah: Everquest was the first of these online RPGs where you pay money to go and fight things with strangers/friends, in theory. People have, like, gotten married in it and shit.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew - best MP moment - fighting the ghosts and the light that they emit shows Samus' face up on the inside of the visor - classik!

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

HEM HEM Cozen, have you played Super Smash Bros. Melee? (With ZeldaSheik?)

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo, nitsuh, you know fine well I've played SSB:M because you were taunting me with Mr. Game & Watch, who I now have and I must say is conceptually the best character in the game but not, y'know, on the important, fighting level. Best fighter is actually probably ZeldaSheik!!!! (You just spoiled who Sheik is btw :P)

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Cozen, you just did!

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

(NB I think the next Smash Bros. should have NAVI in it. Navi vs Game&Watch would be spectacular.)

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

No, you did!

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Navi's attacks:

Blinding flash
Disorienting flutter
Ear-piercing "LEESTEN" of death
Crotch-bomb

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh, Navi would be good: she'd have a completely different physics from the other characters.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(Cozen, there was meant to be an ampersand in that original post, it was meant to be clear to you and obscure to all else. And then you went and elaborated on it.)

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

there was meant to be an ampersand

I am dumm y'know. How am I supposed to see invisible ampersands?

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh hold on so Zelda is also Sheik and manages to be in the same place at the same time in different bodies?

YOU TWO!!!!!! NO BLOODY BIG SPOILERS!!!!!!

There is a vague background irritation that I bought a mask from the woman in the marketplace and no-one will buy the cockfarming thing. Saving the Gorons is one thing but knowing that you're a failure in the business world is another. Also what the mother is going on with the poachers sword?

Navi you had better be more help in the Water temple. Oh god I bet it's full of those things that spit rocks at you. BLURRRH.

I have gathered that my next stop is to visit Lord J-J and then off to the water temple. This is a bit suxx0r cos you usually get a nice "pressure off" wandering about bit before you're thrown into another temple.

There is such a heart-rending moment of innocence when little Link goes back to the Kokiri village after being a grown up and all the little fairies don't know about time moving on and that he's not really a Kokiri after all (although I think being a Kokiri is better than being a rubbish HUMANG).

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Which mask? Is it the rabbit?

Who did you get the poacher's sword from again?

There's still a bit to go before the Water Temple. You'll probably be able to get the two bits above properly finished, though you'll need Epona for one of them.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I daren't read this thread. I just got Zelda for my GBASP and I'm rubb at it.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't remember, it's a yellow mask? Might be a rabbit?

I can't really remember, but one assumes one got the poachers sword from a poacher. I remember I had a vague race against time thing with some potions, which I won, I got the sword and er... that appeared to be it. Hmmm.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Poachers SAW, obv. I == arse...

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you really want to know what to do with the Poacher's Saw? It's incidental to a greater (ultimately, inessential) mini-quest within the game which leads to the greatest item. I can't remember offhand what you do with it, except you give it to someone, and this triggers off a whole chain of events culminating in GREATNESS.

SARAH!!! You've started me playing this through again now!

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Sarah should have to preface non-rhetorical questions with "I BESEECH THEE, OH GREAT ILE"

I'll probably end up playing it again when I get the free copy with new Zelda, but only after I'm finished the real one.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Sarah, that's not at all what the spoiler was. Way off-base. Nothing of the sort.

(I'm sorry, you were supposed to breeze right past my post and not notice anything. I still blame Cozen for calling attention to it.)

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

OK OK I admit it I briefly looked at gamefaqs.com to see what you do, and now I am content that I am not supposed to be doing anything with it yet. Hooray and huzzah for me!! I didn't look up the rabbit mask though.

I must play Zelda tonight. I was going to play it last night but I was distracted by Scrabble and pie. I wish you could have words like "hyrule" and "navithefairy" and "HACKSLAHHIIIIIIIYAH"!!! And "Goron". God I was so happy when I went back to the Gorons gaff as a growed up and met a baby Goron called Starry! ROCK!! And when you free the Gorons! The way they happily run off into the light!!!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 24 April 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

For the record: I still blame nabisco for having something there to draw 'attention to'.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 25 April 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

For the record, you still suck.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 April 2003 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

:(

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 25 April 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Play nice, nabitsuh.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 25 April 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

OH! MY! GOD!

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 2 May 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(Jel to thread. Actually, there should probably be a separate thread for new Zelda talk so as not to upset Sarah or nitritsuh.)

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 2 May 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, new zelda is out, isn't it? hoorah! Must try and get it tomorrow.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 2 May 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Upset? Dude, I've seen plenty of new-Zelda, it's GRATE.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 2 May 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Right then kids due to HOUSE MOVE the Zelda Beast is not equipped but I shall EQUIP it tonight and try and get to the Water Temple. I thought I would find it in the bit where Lord Jabu Jabu was but all I found was the scary GIANT FAIRY who is a bit of a SAUCY WENCH yesno? She gave me a spell... some form of WARP SPELL as I recall which I did not quite understand to be honest but quite frankly I was intimidated by her STRANGE FAERIE TITS so hurried up and saved the game.

I think I still have to faff about in his belly don't I.

Does DINS FIRE ever become a k-useful spell? I tried to thaw out KING ZORA with it but it did not work :(

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I only meant to check the thread to see if I had mentioned my happiness at the birth of the GRATE DEKU SPROUT!!!

Still haven't got the bloody horse.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm stuck, walking around with a barrel on my head, but these stupid guards can still see me.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Zelda is huge. I'm 17 hours in and about 5/9ths through the main quest but there's so many other things to find. (You're on the Forsaken Fortress, right, jel?)

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

yep, the poxy forsaken fortress, I keep getting thrown in jail (i've only played a couple of hours so far).

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Yr in for so much fun jel - it is the best game I've ever played - better than Ocarina - though this may be the Shock of the New talking - why didn't they bundle Majora's Mask in with it? :(

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Those fortress guards look like crosses between Jabba the Hut's Nixonish flunkies and PUMBA.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Pardon me, Pumbaa.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, the character animations are totally conflicted: by which I mean the models' builds are an egregious mix of two clashingly different styles: the enemies are predominantly, heavy-detailed pseudo-Disney types whereas townfolks on Outset Island and the like are more spartan skelf-like, pointy-jaggedy Zelda-specific types...

It really is beautiful.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It really is a beautiful game.

Cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 May 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Guys - start a new Zelda thread pls for Wind Waker chad! That or lend me yr Gamecube?? Please?

OOOH yesterday I found the ICE CAVERN! There are lots of ICE MONSTERS that form from cold breath and whack you into a big block of ICE until you HACK yr way out YAH! I also found a "blue unnatural flame" (cheers Navi the Fairy) which I stored in a BOTTLE and then thawed out a bunch of red ice. Grand! Grrr those ICE MONSTERS are evil. And as for the evil blue bats that set you on fire as well - they are the ENEMY and were making me very annoyed until the deployment of the BOW AND ARROW.

Shot through the heart! And I'm to blame! They give Hyrule! A BAD NAME!

So anyway I unthaw King Zora and you think he'd be grateful but now he's just banging on about Princess Ru(b)to AGANE. Oh but I did get a lovely new FROCK from him in this winters shade of BLOO. Score!

But then I was tired and grumpy and full of TACO so I went to bed after saving. I guess I am going to go to Lord JJ's manor again and swim about a bit to see if there's anything to do round there. Or am I barking up the wrong Greek? There's not much else to do in the Ice Cavern as far as I can see. Apart from the satisfaction of killing the evil freezer pops.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! Did you get some nice (un)matching footwear for your dress?

Zelda Wind Waker thread

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha LINK TURNS GOTH SHOCKER - I found some IRON BOOTS which are so obviously New Rocks that it's not even funny.

Oh I tell a lie, it's hilarious. Run through the Water Temple my little Goth Link! Hm I am now PONDERING in the Water Temple, after changing the water level three times and getting the compass/map ect ect I now seem to be back to where I started. I hope I do not have to map it myself so I can remember what on earth is where. I shall SCOUR the map to try and find out where I need to go.

I tell you what, I am MOST ANGRY that those spider geezers from DEATH MOUNTAIN VALLEY are in the water temple. They keep jumping on me when I'm in the water and I can't fight them, and THEN jump on me as I'm trying to climb out of the water grrrr.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh good grief. I just looked briefly ahead to see if I was missing anything OBV on the Water Temple and HUGE GIANT **DARK** SPOILER!! I immediately hid it but AGRHGHARGHAGHRAFHR I HAVE LEART MY LESSON kill me now

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

WALKTHROUGHS SUCK BIG TIME. I'm sure if you ask for hints here you'd have a more entertaining and annoying time of it in the long run -- which is what we all want, right?

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes yes yes yes but I'm cold and have goose pimples and all I wanted to know was if that block I moved was the thing that had to be changed and then they RUINED it and *cry*

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

If you have a walkthrough in the house bring it into work and hide it somewhere, or put it somewhere that it's a chore to get to. The feeling of finally twigging what to do, or realising it while doing something else, is more than worth an hour of flapping around, in my opinion. If I'd had a walkthrough for The Wind Waker I would have used it a lot more, and I'd have been less happy, in my opinion.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, y'know, what are we, chopped liver?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

No walkthroughs in the house. Also yesterday I was stuck a lot whilst recovering from mean panic attack and horribleness without you lot to help so HEY I HAVE AN EXCUSE! Ok not a very good one but there you go.

Ah well I shall play again tonight and faff about for a bit longer and then get to the MASSIVELY SPOILERED BIT argrhghh *staples hand to forehead*

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

You want to watch that, that could get infected.

I got the HORSE!!! I love the way you stand outside and play his song and then you hear the neighs and the horse runs up behind you!

Now it is grebt cos I am in GERUDO FORTRESS I believe. Haha! There are WARRIOR WIMMIN there who keep arresting me. I put my hands up and let them cart me away. I feel like a cross between the SWEENY and Open All Hours, cheeky pixie, OI OI! However I am rather SHOCKED as this is the first time where you actually kill REAL ACTUAL HUMANGS with BLUD and stuff. Rather shocking. Brings the HORROR to you, really!

Although fighting Shadow STARRY/link was GRATE FUN! However it was really blooming obvious how to beat him, I wish I'd hung about for a little longer and had fun but no WHACK with the hammer and SCREW YOU WATER TEMPLE!

Phew, not in wedlock to Ruto eh?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 22 September 2003 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the arrows you used in Gerudo fortress were of the non-lethal variety (cf. Metal Gear Solid 1 + 2).

Leee (Leee), Monday, 22 September 2003 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Since IIRC the guards wake up after a while.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 22 September 2003 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

it is shoXoRing when you have to shoot the gerudo wimmin, but then, yes, you notice the spiral of "KO" stars above the laydeez in question and they do indeed get back up and you go "phew" and then FUCKSOCKS as they blow the whistle again and you are back in pokey.

Sarah, how many medallions have you got left to get, one or two?

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I are the worslt at this game. I beat the picture of Dorian Ganondork and left for the next stage w/o picking up the heart piece because as I defended myself to my friends, I DIDN'T SEE NO HEART PIECE AFTER I BEAT THE BOSS.

I followed a sodding walkthrough which is telling me to do the Shadow Temple first - I kind of resent that, so now I've got the lens of truth but I'm going to go back to the Gerudo Valley anyway AS THAT IS WHAT THE GAME SAYS! Nearly bloody there!! I did super-well, was fighting a guard, loads of health left, then I collapse after losing two hearts and BACK IN CHOKEY! Bitch.

LOOK AT THE "LINK" (ahahahahha) above! It's FUNNY! Esp when he sings along to Saria's song ahahaha.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

k-blimey, yes you DO need to go to the shadow temple. also have you sorted out the song that the guy in the windmill is playing?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

great movie - BLOG IT

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, and I've been down the creepy well, fought the strange dead hands guy and so. This lens of truth looks hard on the old magic meter though, is there a way to extend it like there is in Wind Waker?

Hm so you reckon I should do shadow temple first too? My map still doesn't indicate anything in Kakariko to do, but I've done the cut scene where the bad mojo has been released.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

ah the bad mojo - I'm pretty sure that means you learned the song from yer man with the fringe, which means you can get to the temple in NO TIME FLAT ( though I think it helps to have something that can do impressive fire-y things).

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Dins fire?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

OR do you mean the flying fire from Lake Hylia?
