Where does 'The Harder They Come' soundtrack go in your collection?

And what would you call the mp3s? Various Artists or Jimmy Cliff? And where do you put the Various Artists CDs in your collection? in the V's or at the end? This is my first one..

Petty question, I know.. probably should have logged out.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:35 (twenty years ago)

and in response to the "Does ILM affect your record buying habits?" thread: yep. i saw this in virgin today for $10 and thought, "okay, ILM... okay."

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

if my cds were in any order at all, i'd put the compilations last

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:37 (twenty years ago)

"H" section.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:43 (twenty years ago)

i *wish* my collection were organized at all...

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:44 (twenty years ago)

actually, no i don't.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:45 (twenty years ago)

i get it from my dad..

I used to sort them by artist and then each of their albums alphabetically, but Talking Heads: 77 confounded me so much that I switched to artist >> chronological

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:47 (twenty years ago)

This is a serious matter, you realize.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:48 (twenty years ago)

i'm losing sleep.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:49 (twenty years ago)

oh, and, random question, so as not to take up another thread:

i was at a friend's parent's house today and found a copy of the Sticky Fingers LP with the actual zipper on it. I told them I thought it was a colletor's item and might be worth something.. true?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:50 (twenty years ago)

a slight dilemma: have procured a copy of "Liquid Swords", I'm uncertain where to put it in the "G" section

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:50 (twenty years ago)

oh! you were serious earlier haha.. good, i'm glad i'm not the only, er, "careful" person here..

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:51 (twenty years ago)

that depends if it's any of these:

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:53 (twenty years ago)

I always put it under "c" for Cliff.

What does it matter as long as you know where it is?

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:55 (twenty years ago)

what if the guy's in a hurry? "Where's that CD? C? It's not there! Ah, no time now! The fire's sweeping closer!"

and so on.

A veeeery selective looter?

look, imagine you're a shoplifter and you're trying to pwn a few CDs. How rough would it be to find that Death Cab CD if everything was out of order?

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:00 (twenty years ago)

is he shoplifting the Death Cab CD because he doesn't want to pay or because he's too embarassed to buy it?

an extremely corny, extremely cheap shoplifter.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

I have made decisions... (unravels scroll)

The disc shall be placed in the section:

"H"

The mp3s have been labeled as such:

Harder They Come, The - 02 - Scotty - Draw Your Breaks, etc.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:12 (twenty years ago)

I file all soundtracks in their own "soundtracks" section, and then it would be under "H". It makes for a weird little mini-compilation zone. Solaris, Battlestar Galactica, Suspiria, Andrei Rublev . . .

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:14 (twenty years ago)

Currently, sandwiched between King Sunny Ade's Juju Music and ABC's How To Be A Zillionaire. There is logic, but don't ask.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:14 (twenty years ago)

Tarkovsky Solaris or Clooney Solaris?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:22 (twenty years ago)

For me, The Harder They Come doesn't go in soundtracks. It's a V/A Reggae compilation. I save the soundtracks section for otherwise fairly uncategorizable stuff like Morricone, Komeda or Goblin.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:23 (twenty years ago)

The Harder They Come doesn't go in soundtracks. It's a V/A Reggae compilation.

I mean, I guess that technically it's both... Would you consider Saturday Night Fever a soundtrack or a disco compilation? What about Royal Tennebaums? Soundtrack or rock compilation? I'm just asking because I'm questions my decision from earlier... but don't take away my certificate!

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 06:27 (twenty years ago)

I would consider Saturday Night Fever to be a bloody good record. End of story.

Life's too short for any of this.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

i would put this in the 'various' section of my cds, then under 'H'.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

Life's too short for any of this.

but plenty long for the majority of threads on ILM?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

I only approach ILx from the Bored Office Worker perspective. I can't do anything about working hours, but this thread is sad x 10/9.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

and before anyone else says it, I'm just as sad, if not sadder, for reading/contributing to this thread.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

This stuff is crucial, though. More often than not, it should be filed under the name of the film, but it is a case-by-case basis. Superfly is filed under Curtis Mayfield. And I have Danny the Dog filed under Massive Attack. But Once Upon A Time In the West is filed under "O", not Ennio Morricone. Not sure why I have it that way.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:52 (twenty years ago)

It is not crucial. It is not oxygen. It is not food. It is not cancer.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:53 (twenty years ago)

but it sure makes my LP browsing a lot easier.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

You need to take out all your LPs, burn them and not buy replacement copies for a minimum of ten years. That is the only hope you will have of rediscovering them.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

And by "burn" I mean pour paraffin over them, strike a match, etc., as opposed to making CD copies of them.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

that seems a bit drastic!

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

I only approach ILx from the Bored Office Worker perspective.

I approach it from mainly from the this-sociology-paper-is-6-days-late-and-6-pages-short perspective, but sometimes from the I-want-to-listen-to-this-album-so-why-not-dick-around-on-the-internet perspective..

not to say that I don't think this is totally important. another problem I encounter sorting albums chonologically within artist's discography are "two-fers" like Fela Kuti. Does Confusion/Gentleman go before Expensive Shit/He Miss Road? aaaaaagghghhh

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

I would say "yes", but damned if it still isn't a little annoying.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:03 (twenty years ago)

All my Fela Kuti records went in the pile marked "Music and Video Exchange."

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

I've had trouble with "Dr." and "Mr." as well. Do I file them as if they're spelled "Doctor" and "Mister"? I suppose that I don't, ultimately. And goddamned M83, too.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

All my Fela Kuti records went in the pile marked "Music and Video Exchange."

anything you said that might have swayed me has now been invalidated.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:06 (twenty years ago)

As Kevin Rowland said: "They all sounded the same."

Dexy's are way better than Fela Kuti. Better horn arrangements for a start.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:07 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah i have trouble with dj albums too. does dj shadow go under d or s? and when bands more commonly go by their initials, that can add confusion too, file under initials or full name? very tricky

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

Haha, all the normal, daylight ILMers are going to see, like, 50+ responses to a thread called Where does 'The Harder They Come' soundtrack go in your collection? and be like, "What the fuck are the Morlocks going on about now?"

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

No. Tricky goes under T.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

I file DJ albums under their names, like "Shadow", "Cam", and so on. Otherwise I'd have a slew of albums all starting with "DJ" in a row. And that's just sort of silly, frankly.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)

oh well you know i'd just hate to think my cataloguing habits were silly, i'd best re-sort them all when I get home tonight

xpost haha

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

And if you own Mermaid Ave by Billy Bragg and Wilco, where do you put it? B, W, G, tribute?

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:17 (twenty years ago)

haha it's under 'b' actually. i might reconsider and put it under G for a while though, that's a cool idea.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

I put mine in the bin several years ago.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

What records do you keep?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:20 (twenty years ago)

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:20 (twenty years ago)

Amon Tobin confused me for awhile as well. I had him under "A" and finally figured "T" might be the best. And Muddy Waters too. I've got him under "W" now.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:22 (twenty years ago)

And all too pointless.

You've got muddy under waters? That'll teach you not to wear boxer shorts.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

yeah and with Bonnie Prince Billy, under "Bonnie" or "Billy"? fuck's sake, Oldham, get one reasonable pseudonym.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Drew is 100% correct. The Harder They Come goes in the separate soundtracks section.

But then, where does the soundtracks section go? I put mine after the individual artists/groups, but before the V/A section. But putting soundtracks after V/A would be acceptable too, I think. I'd let it slide.

Lingbertt, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

Record collection alphabetiser, get one reasonable life.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

well generally in record stores, V/A comps come directly after the "Z" section, and soundtracks are completely separate. Therefore, i'd advise everyone to go A-Z, v/a, and then soundtracks.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

all bets are off with spoken word and comedy records, though! you're on your own there!

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

As are most record collectors.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

I would put it under H. (I do alphabetical by artist name, chronological within artists, compilations filed by title.)

Lyra Jane (Lyra Jane), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

I put everything into one big A-Z section. Various artist comps and soundtracks are alphabetized by the first letter of the title - works by a single artist are alphabetized by the artist's name, and then within that, in chronological order.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 13:27 (twenty years ago)

So I guess my system is the same as Lyra's.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 13:27 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I keep it simple, soundtracks under name of movie, VA things under name of album, label bestofs under the label name, and that's it.

edd s hurt (ddduncan), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 13:39 (twenty years ago)

I'd have put "Harder They Come" at the end of my reggae section.

Other CDs that are difficult:

Andrew WK
Affiliated bands like OOIOO (do they go next to the Boredoms or do they get their own slot - what if you're a huge Godspeed/Silver Mount fan?) It was for this reason I thought of having a seperate section for Noise but then it got confusing as I didn't know whether to put bands like Oneida, MBV and Animal Collective in rock/pop or noise.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

Haha, all the normal, daylight ILMers are going to see, like, 50+ responses to a thread called Where does 'The Harder They Come' soundtrack go in your collection? and be like, "What the fuck are the Morlocks going on about now?"

This was in fact precisely why I clicked on this thread.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

Various artist comps and soundtracks are alphabetized by the first letter of the title

Actually, come to think of it, I sometimes make exceptions to this rule. For instance, I have two compilations of Burmese music on Shanachie that are part of a series, even though they have different titles. I put those together under 'B' for Burma.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:06 (twenty years ago)

i used to have my records chronologically arranged... and would even try to argue my case... but how do you live with a record collection arranged by genre!?!?!?! do you literally 'label' the different sections? i now 'order' my records under 'most recently played', ie in a small heap.

N_RQ, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

For some reason The Harder They Come is often considered a Jimmy Cliff album (doesn't it say that on the spine?) so I file it under "C".

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Isn't that how Nazi Germany started?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

It's on my vinyl compilation shelf, alphabetically under "H." Which probably means it's right after Sugarhill's two Great Rap Hits compilations, unless something comes in between.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

i used to have my records chronologically arranged... and would even try to argue my case... but how do you live with a record collection arranged by genre!?!?!?! do you literally 'label' the different sections? i now 'order' my records under 'most recently played', ie in a small heap.

No, I have different shelves for different genres: Rock'n'Pop, Dance/Electronica, Hip-Hop, Punk & Metal and Miscellaneous (for classical/world/folk/soundtracks etc). And then everything is alphabetised within those. It makes sense to me as that's how I've always done it. That way if I fancy some metal but I'm not sure what album I'm in the mood for, it's easy.

That said, I just bought a massive 760-CD capacity shelf from Argos which might make alphabetical arrangements easier. Would ILMers recommend this more?

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

go chronological. it makes total sense to me.

N_RQ, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

Wha?! Seriously? So you'd have your Rolling Stones albums dotted all round your collection for instancE?

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Go by colour of the spine.

(I have never tried this.)

ledge (ledge), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

My collection is broken up into genres, which always occasions some difficult decisions because there are so many genre-straddlers about. There are little clusters of specific, tiny genres and then big sprawling grab bags: Hip Hop / Jazz / Reggae & Dub / Spoken Word / Field Recordings / Experimental / Krautrock / Lounge & Hawaiian & Easy Listening / "Classical" / Metal & Hardcore & Punk / Electronic / 60s & Psychedelia & Tropicalia / Country & Folk & Gospel / Children's Music / Musicals & Light Opera & Opera / Battle Records & Turntablist Records & "DJ" Loops & Breaks / Ethnic & Traditional Musics of the World / Pop & New Wave / Funk & Disco

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Alphabetical is wrong, just wrong...

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

which always occasions some difficult decisions because there are so many genre-straddlers about

Agreed, that's why I use AMG's genre tags. Sometimes they're wrong, and their "rock" category is a little too broad, but I just accept it as dogma.

Keith C (kcraw916), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Alphebetical by artist, chronological within artist by album seems to work best if you have a large amount of stuff to deal with.

I actually did try the "color of spine" thing once (By ROYGBIV, no less), but at the time I was doing a LOT of drugs and cannot recommend this method to anyone sane.

Probably depends mostly on how your mind files your music. If you pick a track by artist, genre, or year, file correspondingly I guess. If you pick it by album color, check yourself into rehab...

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Right now it's in the "To Be Refiled" section, since I just played it last weekend.

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

my collection, when it's not in storage as it is now, i sort only generally by genre and artist, certainly not alphabetically. if i had one of those gigantoid 35,000 LP collections maybe i'd reconsider. but i'm down to a lean (!) 3,000 LPs and CDs and it's not really that hard to find something. actually i've sold a lot recently and maybe i'm down to 2,000.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

My collection, when organized, looks a lot like Drew's - broken up into tiny subgenres that only I could probably navigate. It's all about being able to find the type of music you're in the mood for.

I mean, I guess that technically it's both... Would you consider Saturday Night Fever a soundtrack or a disco compilation? What about Royal Tennebaums? Soundtrack or rock compilation?

Saturday Night Fever should definitely go in a disco section if you have one. If not, I suppose soundtracks is fine. On the other hand I'm more likely to put a lot of this stuff under "soundtracks" on my LP shelf because it's kind of fun to look through all of the movie related album covers (and I never listen to the Saturday Night Fever Sdtk anyway).

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:28 (twenty years ago)

alex do you hate REGGAE?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

No, I just don't own the album.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

oh. well that's no fun.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

All of my soundtracks and various-artist comps (of which "The Harder They Come" is not one) (I don't distinguish between the two) are roughly chronological at the beginning of my CD shelves. The rest, I go alphabetical. But here's where I have a screw-up: I bought one of those cheapo comps in which the first five songs are hits from the Jets, and the last five songs are hits from Ready For The World. I filed it under "R" since I bought it for the RFTW tracks, but it looks out of place there since the Jets are credited first on the spine. *sigh*

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 16:55 (twenty years ago)

The Harder They come goes in my reggae section. My rule is if its a soundtrack but full of track from a certain genre then it goes in the genre section (another example: Superfly OST would go in the Soul/Funk section), whereas if its a score or soundtrack with songs across different genres then is goes into soundtracks: e.g. Paris, Texas or Kill Bill.

On the general more generl topic, genre categorization is the best because it more suited to picking by mood (hmm.., i feel like some disco) and as long as the genres are small enough and/or sorted well enough, finding a specific artist should is pretty easy

Robin Goad (rgoad), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

This thread has convinced me to sort by genre, although it sounds like so much work, who knows if it'll ever happen (had things in loose alphabetical forever). But it does seem like it would make picking something easier.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

I think sorting by mood would be more useful to me for ease in picking something than sorting by genre. For instance, loud & fast electronic music should go with loud & fast rock, and noodly & abstract electronic should go with noodly & abstract classical or jazz, etc.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:06 (twenty years ago)

Joseph has a good point with his Jets/RFTW predicament; I never know whether know whether to file split CDs under my favorite of the two artists, or under whichever band is listed first or in compilations, or where. That King of Crunk Presents Lil Scrappy and Trillville CD from last year is REALLY confusing; it is one of the only CDs in my house where I can never remember where I put it! Filing advice on it would be appreciated.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:14 (twenty years ago)

http://www.acceleratedlearning.com/images_pics/brains_stim.gif

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

Btw sorting by genre is completely impossible; there are just too many platypuses out there that fit in two or more genres at once.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

The other great thing about sorting by genre is that it's the one place where you can exercise your own crazy idiosyncratic methods of categorization and get revenge on all of the record store misfilings and favorite-band mislablings you've been subjected to through the years. I see my record collection as sort of a modern-day cabinet of curiosities and as such it's filing method should reflect my view of the world.

So Nate, there's no reason why sorting by genre and mood are incompatible. Why not define your own genres of loud n' fast fist-pumping anthems and abstract noodles?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

The wildcard here is that my wife has to be able to find stuff too. I'm a little worried about proposing a new sorting system, considering how long it takes her to find stuff as it is.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

That's where the "wife music" section comes in handy.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

What does everyone do with classical CDs? Composer or performer? The one that always gives me a headache is Aguas de Amazonia by Uakti, which is interpretations of Philip Glass compositions. I file it under G, but mostly just because I already have several other Glass albums.

(Actually, does anyone keep side projects next to the original band, like some record stores do? That can be useful, I guess, but it's always funny to me that the section for Rodan at Reckless Records in Chicago has maybe one copy of Rusty and then every single Tara Jane O'Neil solo record, a few Retsin discs, a Sonora Pine disc, etc.)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

Side projects with band, definitely. Sam Prekop with Sea & Cake, etc.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Mark is wrong

gear (gear), Friday, 12 August 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

look, Sam Prekop is more or less just doing his own thing there. unlike--for example--"Passengers", which is just U2 and Eno and essentially a U2 album with a different name to keep the band separated and safe from the too-weird shit. Therefore, I have it in with the U2 Cds.

gear (gear), Friday, 12 August 2005 08:17 (twenty years ago)

interestingly enough, the band RTX--which is completely separate from Royal Trux, I think--ends up being filed right next to Royal Trux in a fortuitous bit of alphabetical proximity.

gear (gear), Friday, 12 August 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

i've been tempted to sort by genre, spine color, and chronologically, both by release date and purchase date. but that's too much for me right now.
