What do you like most about living in the US? also, the least?

Love,

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I was planning on running a quick route that usually takes 20-25 minutes. You are ... psychic?

dean? (deangulberry), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Most = CALIF0RN1A, FOOD, STUFF TO LOOK AT, NIIIIIICE BIG WIDE LONG ROADS, NATURE, BOOKSHOPS, DECENT COFFEE, PEOPLE AREN'T ASSHOLES LIKE IN LONDON
Least=TELEMARKETERS, HIDDEN CHARGES ON EVERYTHING (/cheap brit), ENDLESS BUREAUCRACY, NO DECENT NEWSPAPERS, POLITICALLY SUSPECT, NOT ENOUGH THUNDERSTORMS, "SOCCER"PHOBIA...EUROPHOBIA!

And the food is going to make me fat.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

AND...FUCK this vacation allowance business. Straight out of college, I got 5 WEEKS VACATION A YEAR IN THE UK. Plus holidays. I don't even get half that now. That is seriously the thing that bugs me most about my otherwise great new home.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

We outsource our vacation to the Mexicans.

dean? (deangulberry), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

What are your experiences with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the US Post Offices?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

What are your experiences with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the US Post Offices?

hahahaha! Is this because of something I said to you?

DMV=lines lines lines, shitty website=over a year here and I am still driving UNLICENSED and UNINSURED

Post Office=I can only speak for downtown Berkeley, which deals with all my Ebay shipping and has to be the shittiest, slowest, least efficient post office I have ever seen. And I come from a country where the postal system is still stuck in the 1970s!!

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

AaronHz (AaronHz), Thursday, 12 August 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Adam: I read your thread daily, but I never have seen my problem, and it is tearing me apart. Early in my marriage, I discovered that my husband, "Chet," was spending a large portion of his time with computer porn when I wasn't around. The most disturbing part is that at least half the stuff was incest porn. I confronted him, and he swore to stop, but I've caught him at it since then. Chet has begun counseling, but I know for sure he's still looking at these horrible pictures. In every other way, Chet is a wonderful man. I believe he honestly wants to get to the root of this problem, but he hasn't made much progress since I first discovered him looking at the porn three years ago.

I am not getting any younger and would like to have children, but I am terrified Chet might act on these incest fantasies with our child. I have no reason to suspect that he ever has done anything like this, but I can't be sure it won't ever happen.

Tell me, Annie, how likely is it that his interest in incest will escalate to action? I need to know what to expect, realistically, before I decide whether or not I can stay in this marriage. I love this man very much, but I want to build a life with someone who can be a safe and loving father for my future children. -- Barbara in Mississippi

Paperchase, like Snapple and Disney before them, funnel all their profits to the KKK.

Actually, that is unusual. I presume you weren't in NORTH London.

JR-

I hope it gets here today! I am so excited! How is the Megaman collection? I keep meaning to get that.

Ratchet (nordicskilla), Monday, 11 October 2004 15:46 (twenty years ago)

I gave up on Mega Man. It is too hard, so I went for the always enjoyable Onimusha 3. I need a simple game like Katamari that will not destroy my hopes and dreams.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:00 (twenty years ago)

Is Onimusha for teh fighting? I have some Tekken game that is crappy and I need a better beat 'em up.

Ratchet (nordicskilla), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:02 (twenty years ago)

katamari's sdtrk belongs on POP/POPPY NON NOIZE ALBUMS APPROVED BY NOISE DOODZ & DOODETTES

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:03 (twenty years ago)

It plays like half-tekken, half-rpg. It is quest based and pretty fun, but not terribly challenging. Also, the third one has Jean Reno in it.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:04 (twenty years ago)

good for you. I miss North London though. I'm proud to be from there! As for getting married, weddings are fun and as a groom, you get treated like a superstar (though not as much as the bride)! As for how to...I can't help you!

Is Adam around?

Daer Ada,

Is it common for British people to refer to cars as "beep beeps" as Adam Ant does in the song "Cartrouble?"

And while I'm at it, seeing as how your name is Ada, who is the proverbial Ada in British culture to whom people are referring when they say things like, "Oh, Ada!" and "Fucking Ada?" Also: is the phrase "Fucking A" a shortening of "Fucking Ada?"

Thanks!

Yours,

Tim

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

Have you ever had a ride in a light blue car?
Have you ever stopped to think
Who's the slave and who's the master?
Have you ever had trouble with your automobile?
Have you ever had to push, push, push, push?

Cartrouble

You might have seen them very busy at the weekends
Licking and polishing the beep beeps into shape
And then it's proudly up the M1, M2, M3
And keep your feet off the upholstery, Ronnie

Cartrouble, oh yeah

And remember this:
You don't need anything after an ice cream
I used to sit at home silently and wonder
Why all the preference is polishing the chrome
While all the mothers and the sisters and the babies
Sit and rot at home

Cartrouble, oh yeah

And remember this:
You don't need anything after an ice cream

Maybe my favourite city. I'm going to retire there. Don't listen to JaXoN.

I'd say August. It rains more in Lisbon than you might think. I have not been to Porto, though it sounds fantastic. I have been meaning to visit my friend Tiago there. He makes films about golf!
