Crap! I signed up, but I just saw the live draft is August 5th and I'm not going to be anywhere near a computer that day or that week (vacation).

Grr!!! I haven't gone any further than just signing up though, so maybe I didn't take a spot someone else could use.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 3 June 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

dude, let it autodraft for you. it'll probably end up making better picks anyway. it always does. :(

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 3 June 2006 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

AW YEAH

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 3 June 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

I CAN ALWAYS CHANGE THE DATE OF THE LIVE DRAFT, Y'ALL

gear (gear), Saturday, 3 June 2006 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

There was a problem

* There was a temporary problem with the server. Please try again shortly. (Error #115)
* The password is incorrect. (Error #109)
* The league is not in pre-draft mode. (Error #209)

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 3 June 2006 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

Okay I'm in (Birdfingers), but I don't think I want to autodraft. The only Saturdays I won't be availble are 8/5 and 8/12, though.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 3 June 2006 21:05 (nineteen years ago)

Forks, the problem was you went to FOOTBALL PLUS (i.e. you clicked on the shiny buttons), not FOOTBALL (the nondescript links beneath the box containing the shiny buttons).

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 3 June 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

THe shiny RED buttons? I always fall prey to that gambit.
I'm on both now; maybe the D'Brickashaws league can be for the next twelve when this one inevitably fills up...?
Start yer engines, gennulmen and laydeez!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 3 June 2006 21:45 (nineteen years ago)

LET'S TRY TO GET ALL THE ILNFL REGS INTO BOTH IF POSSIBLE

I'LL CHANGE THE DAY OF THE LIVE DRAFT TO ONE IN WHICH EVERYONE WILL BE AVAILABLE, A DATE WHICH WILL BE DETERMINED LATER

gear (gear), Saturday, 3 June 2006 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

D'Brickashaws draft is one week before regular season starts: Sun Sept. 3 at 1:00.
Any preseason bullshit will hopefully be sorted out by then.

gear (gear), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

hay guyz i have a question... why are all the top rated draft pix runningbax? isn't a top tier QB more valuable than a top tier RB, cuz he'll end up with more yards and TDs by the end of the season?

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Monday, 19 June 2006 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

HAY

if you're an elite QB, someone who's gonna get 4000 yds passing, 30 td, 10 INT, 4-5 rushing TD, 250-300 yds rushing, that ends up being maybe 250 pts over the course of a season.

if you're an elite RB, 1500-1600 yds rushing, 15-18 rushing TD, 2-3 receiving TD, 400 yds receiving, 3-4 fumbles lost, that's about 200-210.

so that's a very good question!

gear (gear), Monday, 19 June 2006 22:34 (nineteen years ago)

Name twelve great quarterbacks in the league. Not that hard.
Name twelve great SCORING rbs in the league. A little harder.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 02:50 (nineteen years ago)

but QBs are more in danger of unperforming due to injury than RBs; also, week to week, RBs more versatile (return yards as well as rushing and pass ydg) and less likely to fall victim to negative points (ints, sacks for losses, etc.); also, DAUNTE CULPEPPER WAS ONCE CONSIDERED AN ELITE FANTASY QUARTERBACK

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

Also: you usually have TWO starting RBs in a FanFoot lineup, as opposed to one QB, which leads to positional scarcity and/or someone starting a 3rd stringer in their 2nd RB slot.

FWIW, from last year's stats:
- number of 250-300+ yd QB rushers: 3 (Michael "Blount Lovah" Vick, David "Oh Fuck" Carr, Aaron "What - Me Win?" Brooks)
- number of 4-5+ rush TD scorers: 1 (GUESS WHO; 3 @ 3 TDs, 6 @ 2 TDs)
- number of 25-30+ TD passers: 3 (Palmer, Peyton, Brady), w/ 4 @ 24

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

well i just don't get it! lemme tell you fellers, i'm completely http://www.cornroasters.com/_derived/cornfused.htm_cmp_cornking110_vbtn.gif ¯\(º_o)/¯

gear (gear), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

Last year I got Carson Palmer in like the 12th round. Nobody got Carnell Williams or Larry Johnson (backup!) in the 12th round. Running backs dry up fast, and they're hard to replenish once you lose them. There's always some Billy Volek out there to fill in and get you some QB points.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

Plus the point distinction between a great qb and an ok qb (say, peyton and kitna) and between a great rb and an ok rb (Johnson and ryan moats) is pretty vast.

NED'S KNEES ENDS HOLDOUT, REPORTS TO CAMP
AP Wire

ILXORVILLE, the Internets (AP) -- After a protracted and acrimonious standoff, Ned's Knees signed with I Love teh NFL 2006 for an undisclosed amount, though sources familiar with the negotiations indicated that he could receive upwards of 6 million style points with performance enhancing incentives.

"I'm relieved, sure," said Knees on the ILNFL league thread. "All that business stuff is over. I'm a fantasy player, and now I can concentrate on playing fantasy. What better way to start my career than beating the Hunter Age 3s in week 1?"

He added, "I don't lose to girls."

When asked if the extended layoff would affect his pre-season preparation, he said, "I won't lie, I'm a little rusty. I heard Jerry Rice is going to resign with the Niners -- do you think he'll be a third-down receiver?"

daver: did you save your predraft rankings from last year or something?

ally: trade offer in pipeline, feel free to counter

i swear that waiver wire looks thinner to me than in that crazy 30 team or whatever league last year

j blount (papa la bas), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

i got sum piping hot trades for gregory & polyphonic to peep~~

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:03 (nineteen years ago)

ally you should pick up koenen if/when he's added to the player list

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:04 (nineteen years ago)

I saw no reason to counter, I think that trade is fair!!

I don't understand how this works, dudes, why can't I cut Chad Johnson? I mean, I don't WANT to, but if I got real drunk and mad, I might decide to do a stupid thing like that. Why can't I?

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:05 (nineteen years ago)

Also, is it wrong of me to hope Clinton Portis is fucked for the beginning of the season? I have Betts and also Portis is kind of a retard anyway.

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

Also: what is "waiver priority"?

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:08 (nineteen years ago)

that's your number in line if moar than 1 person claims someone who's still on waivers.

new team name: BITCH FUK UR WAIVER WIIIIIIIIIRE

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:27 (nineteen years ago)

waiver priority decides who gets who if two or more folx put a claim on a dude on waivers, it's a bigger factor in roto baseball. you can't cut chad johnson cuz if late in the season someone way out of it in last place let's say for the sake of argument daver decide to pack it in they can't cut a megasuperstar that could throw the balance of power out of whack. if chad johnson started to suck bigtime or had a season-ending injury or whatever you could cut him (eg i had to cut t.o. last year) but if he's shithot and you just decide you don't want any bengals on yr team or something you're either stuck with him or you have to swing a trade which shouldn't be hard.

j blount (papa la bas), Sunday, 20 August 2006 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

Ally, when your number one pick was Manning and your number three was Vinatieri, there was much merriment.

I guess I don't consider Burress a top 10 wr, but I made you a counteroffer. I don't think we're that far off. I generally think of Brady as the #2 QB in fantasy with Palmer coming off an injury, so I may be overrating my guy a bit.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Sunday, 20 August 2006 05:03 (nineteen years ago)

i think trent green's a top 5 qb fantasywise, i just have a bad feeling re: the chiefs this year.

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 20 August 2006 05:06 (nineteen years ago)

hmm, i don't know. He had a pretty considerable off year last year, although his td/int rate was good. Feel free to contact me on aim at 'meatconcept' if you'd like to discuss it more.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Sunday, 20 August 2006 05:08 (nineteen years ago)

And thus is commerce completed.

I am gonna regret the fuck out of this

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 20 August 2006 05:23 (nineteen years ago)

one other crucial thing about 'WAIVER PRIORITY' is that yr number is assigned inverse yr draft position.

so if you had #14 draft position, you get numero uno Waiver pick, etc.; # 13 draft gets #2 Waiver...

good for when dumb people drop good players, but not as useful as say, baseball, when players often "come up" from the developmental leagues.

my team-

QB -- Delhomme, Leftwich
RB -- S Jackson, Droughns, A Green
WR -- Boldin, Reggie Brown, Toomer, Moulds
Te -- Heap
D/ST - DEN
K - Wilkins

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 20 August 2006 08:18 (nineteen years ago)

stormy you have the exact same team i would have picked in your draft position, you kept taking guys off my list. well except for yr defense, which is still pretty good.

but i am not exactly conceding week 1 or anything

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 20 August 2006 12:45 (nineteen years ago)

that green/houshmandzadeh/burress trade for brady/gore/garbage is a serious fleecing.

ADE STOP MAKING FANTASY MOVES

Just because a button's there doesn't mean you click it, dude!

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 20 August 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

HOW ABOUT I CLICK YOU RIGHT IN THE ASS PAL (which reminds me, you wanna trade for seattle?)

i want this trade. perhaps i am functionally autistic and you feel you must protect me from myself, but i have a good feeling abt it! also, i think that my compulsive, ADD approach to trading has benefited me in fantasy baseball, where i have clawed my way to the top of several leagues. btw troy williamson will be minn's no 1 receiver if koren robinson is suspended for the season, so i don't think it's too outlandish to expect that he could put up numbers like houshmandzadeh's.

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:48 (nineteen years ago)

troy williamson is 'the next randy moss'!

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 21 August 2006 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

I purposefully picked Manning (and Johnson, FWIW) and all rumors are he's shit hot so far so good this summer so the merriment is a little odd there. Vinateri, on the other hand, was just cut from my team.

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Monday, 21 August 2006 13:06 (nineteen years ago)

ALLY WHY YOU HATE CLUTCH?

MY TEAM TO BE RENAMED LATER
QB: Culpepper, Kurt Wagner
RB: S. Alexander, B. Westbrook, Dusty Rhodes, some Green Bay loser
WR: Amazing Moss, Stallworth, some other dude
TE: SHOCKERY, another chump
K: Two(?!) chumps
DEF: JAX, SOME OTHER TEAM.

OK, I have no idea if Culpepper is supposed to be good anymore (he was hurt last year?), or if Nightcrawler is going to make it the whole season when the Lineart who shoulda been a Niner is breathing on his jock.

c('°c) (Leee), Monday, 21 August 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

Dude get rid of one of your chumps and pick up Vinateri off waivers if you love him so much! Also since you got Jeremey Shockey you should make your team logo this instead of the helmet:

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Monday, 21 August 2006 15:39 (nineteen years ago)

IF ONLY I COULD.

I only called my kickers chumps because after having examined them both closely, I have no idea who they are and what teams they play for and if they're any good.

Should I take comfort in my QBs (then which one should I start? Hi-octane Arizona offense, or Culpepper's scrambling skillz?), or I should I dangle some Moss?

c('°c) (Leee), Monday, 21 August 2006 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

i have no idea what to expect out of my team. i always seem to go into each season of the NFL completely blind and then lose three starters to catastrophic injuries.

i'm hoping carson palmer can still walk or else i'll be dependent on forks' '05 midseason mvp to shoulder the qb load.

gear (gear), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

Kicker for Indy = Not so good for fantasy porpoises

I'll trade you Jay Feely for Brian Westbrook, duder. Great kicker!

Eli was a lifesaver for me on the fantasy field last season; I want to see his first two games before I decide if he's got it this year.

As for my MVP (youthful indiscretion), rumor has it he may not even be a first string qb as of the first game. BOB COSTAS SEZ.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

who's the possible starter?

gear (gear), Monday, 21 August 2006 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

Ally: The merriment was that you took Eli over Steve Smith, Antonio Gates, Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Torry Holt, etc. As a third, maybe even second round pick, Eli seems like a reasonable choice, as a first round, he's like Mario Williams. Trade down!

Gear: Romo Rumours

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 August 2006 17:10 (nineteen years ago)

Kicker for Indy = Not so good for fantasy porpoises

Yeah, I think my kickers are going to be good for me. Windless home games, question mark offenses*, hopefully they'll drive, stall and kick FGs all day. I'm tempted to start Carney over Vanderjagt.

(*I'm pulling that out of thin air.)

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Monday, 21 August 2006 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

Picking TO over anybody is like the most laughable thing I've ever heard. I mean talking about question marks, shouldn't the Cowboys just change their damn logo to a big question mark at this point??

Allyzay knows where the interfacing goes. (allyzay), Monday, 21 August 2006 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

Last year, TO had 763 yards and 6 TDs in seven games. Just sayin'.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 21 August 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

there was much merriment re: manning, BUTT(lol) ally ended up w/a good team anyway so... take that!, conventional wisdom

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Monday, 21 August 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

I wasn't even thinking about T.O., but yeah, question marks. What's the over-under for the number of games he plays this season? If it's 7 or more, I'd put $10 $5 on the under.

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Monday, 21 August 2006 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, last time I looked there wasn't a position called "Stationary Bike Rider."

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Monday, 21 August 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

i think there's a team called that

qb: palmer
rb: curtis martin
wr: t.o.
te: winslow

K: Grammatica
DEF: You pick em

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 August 2006 19:01 (nineteen years ago)

FWIW, I think even TO (or at least his agent[s]) must realize that Dallas is last chance territory. If he doesn't put in a full year with whatever team he plays with in 06/07, he's gonna be off to Europe. Which, come to think of it, sounds like something he might not mind: being the highest paid player in NFL Europe. Or maybe even Arena Ball.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 August 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

when you drafted him at first i thought you took that seminole that got caught up in that gambling scandal! i was like 'dude don't take him - the israeli mob's gonna kill him by thanksgiving!'. i like ade's rb situation too - between reggie bush and frank gore one of those dude's could be a stud and d'angelo could be by playoff time too. and daver has priest holmes - that dude's a stud! meanwhile, o yeah, i have clinton portis and rudi johnson.

i'm gonna think about that one, ade!

you guys watch the espn crew have their 'fantasy draft'? i guess it's reassuring in a way that clearly none of these people (except that one dude obv) ever ever play fantasy football. steve young didn't look like he was having fun.

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 00:18 (nineteen years ago)

gear - sorry, changed my mind :( temporary insanity

SLUTSPIRIA (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 00:20 (nineteen years ago)

my wrs are a little iffy, nothing but question marks across the board. i'm hoping roy w busts out because he's a stud-in-waiting, and andre should be a monster year-in, year-out, but i don't trust him when carr's passing. clayton could be huge, if he's back 100%. it's feast-or-famine in the receiving corps.

haha xpost ; (

gear (gear), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

haha yeah steve young went into this whole whine about rb's being worth more than qb's and how ABSURDLY out of whack with reality that is and then he started talking up eli manning and i was thinking 'omg plz plz take eli manning in the first round (at #4 no less)! plz plz tell me tombot married steve young!' but then i guess his producers talked to him before the show and told him 'sorry steve but no way do we let you go on the air and pick eli manning. this ain't fox sports. you're taking tiki barber.' and so he took tiki and he looked like he was eating greenbeen casserole. when that one guy who was the dorkiest guy involved (and clearly the only one who'd ever played fantasy football before) started trash talking him it sent him right over the edge. i didn't see the whole thing - did irvin take t.o.? i wish they'd been allowed to trade draft picks, it would've been awesome to see ditka trade all his picks for reggie bush.

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 00:29 (nineteen years ago)

should we just bag it now?

when's the draft? if you're really hard up i'll join

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 29 August 2006 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

draft is sunday a.m., but i'm already in two leagues so i ain't desperate about this one, hence my previous statement.

Also new Pats guy on Free Agent = I now have four 60-point receivers not three oh well progress I guess?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 3 September 2006 01:06 (nineteen years ago)

Sunday 1:00 EST
We need at least six players.
IF YOU WERE SIGNED UP BEFORE, YOU NEED TO RESIGN UP IF YOU WANNA PLAY.
Though it's beginning to look unlikely.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 3 September 2006 01:10 (nineteen years ago)

I can't rly accept the Jurevicious trade :( I like Bell a lot with Dayne gone but I am kinda worried about Cleveland, they have a hard schedule I think? I need a feature WR1 more than another solid one.

stat tracker is a live update on the team page of all the stats during the game + the fantasy points accumulated. after week 1, you won't have that and will instead be forced to check box scores and try to guesstimate your score. it's nice enough to have during that one week but i don't see the point of shelling out money for it.

yeah see the trouble with trading carson i realize is that i would need to get a pretty reliable qb in return, plus the third RB i desire, and who's gonna want to do that? looking around, this season seems to have the least number of 'guaranteed money' fantasy qbs in memory.

FUCK BABY SURI I HOPE IT CHOKES TO DEATH ON HUBBARD WAFERS (Adrian Langston), Friday, 15 September 2006 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

lol i was thinking about it!

i played in a league once where receptions and completions were worth two points apiece, so whenever a team was down and the qb was desperately trying to bring the team back, the QBs would roll up 90+ points! highest scoring fantasy game i can remember was one where elvis grbac w/the chiefs had 120 fantasy points.

qb- frye (asstacular game with no tds and 2 picks)
rb- edge james (under 70 yards, 3.7 ypc, seems to have pocketed the big contract money and checked out)
wr- tory holt (one td but only 30 yards rec)
wr- hines ward? matt jones? game time decision. leaning towards ward.
wr/rb- joseph addai (actually had a good day, 80 rush yards, 20 rec, 1td)
te- shockey. did he even play in this game? i mean he must have, he had 2 catches for 17 yards but wtf? 2 catches for 17 yards?
d- denver. no picks, no fumbles, no special teams tds, one sack.

I'm resorting to begging here...

I'm not going to win a single game all season if my QB keeps scoring 1, 0 or NEGATIVE POINTS and my chief backup is lousy as far as fantasy stats go as well. Plummer = joke on me! Can somebody please help me out? If you've got a decent QB on your bench, please take a look at my roster and tell me what you want. Chambers is up for grabs, Cadillac Williams I can part with... pretty much anyone on my roster (except for my Jets WRs and SEAs Darrell Jackson) is someone I'd be willing to give away for a decent QB in this fire sale.

I picked up Cutler from free agency yesterday anticipating a QB change in Denver, but I can't wait for Shanahan to smell the roses on this one.

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 23 September 2006 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

Which DEF should I start? Jax (vs. Indy guilt), or Vikes (vs. Da Bears)? Both of my oppononents have scored big so far, but is the Bear's offense (third in total points??!) 4real? Jax has been way splashier (they've caused more TOs), but I ph34r teh Manningman.

c('°c) (Leee), Saturday, 23 September 2006 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

I'm beginning to feel top heavy at TE. Somebody wanna offer me something legit for 2 TD and counting Dallas Clark?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 24 September 2006 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

I'll give you Witten for Clark... I'm sure he'll pick up the pace later in the year, but I need points now.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 24 September 2006 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Damn, might not have been the greatest idea to bench Favre today (great for me, bad for Tunaz that is).

73-56, and you've still got players tomorrow night.

ok now do me!

harbl (Adrian Langston), Monday, 25 September 2006 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

You're stomping ME 73-50. My only hope is that Norwood scores 4 TDs and runs for 150 yds tomorrow night (yehrite) and McAllister gets lost on the way to the Superdome.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 25 September 2006 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 25 September 2006 03:28 (eighteen years ago)

In my other league, which includes two people that have never played before and four (4) children who are younger than 11, I am 1-2.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 25 September 2006 11:35 (eighteen years ago)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Monday, 25 September 2006 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

Winslow looks unstoppable. The fact that the Browns don't let him play in every third down situation is mind-boggling.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

Desmond Clark was looking like a pretty good tight end for Chicago: slimmed down a LOT over the summer, #2 option for Rex Grossman, etc. TOO BAD HE MESSED UP HIS FREAKIN FOOT SUNDAY.

I seriously thought I was going to post a sub-60 score this week with no Moss (not like he's been contributing) and no Stallworth (WHATF DOOD YOU WERE "P" PROBABLE GRRR).

Also, blount = choad for picking up Michael Robinson, ESP. after I already cut him once.

c('°c) (Leee), Monday, 25 September 2006 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Alexander out with cracked foot
Posted by Mike Sando @ 02:20:56 pm
RB Shaun Alexander will miss "at least a couple weeks" with a broken bone in his foot. Coach Mike Holmgren just confirmed the injury. This means RB Maurice Morris becomes the starter for the Chicago game and beyond. Alexander has played in 99 consecutive regular-season games. We'll have more specific information once Holmgren has finished his press conference.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

This is must-win week and we are against blount :(

Okay so tight ends: PLEASE EXPLAIN. They are basically blockers who get like 0.5 passes per game thrown at them in the endzone right except Colston who is actually a WR on a clerical error? HOW DO YOU TELL IF THEY WILL GET POINTS LATER? Like, if I trade for eg Dallas Clark, what signs would I look for to try and work out if he'll keep getting touchdowns? I basically get every other fantasy position I think, defence is a bit of a mystery too but that can wait I guess.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

Why does the Washington D suck this season, btw?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

some teams use TEs as blockers, some have them as their #2 receiving option. it's gold when they're #1 (Gates, Gonzalez). Colston is a TE because he was brought in as one then they decided to use him as a big wideout.

1) I am not sure I am sold on this trade. I will think about it as Chadster is not doing as well as I demand he plays. NB: This means I will probably do it anyway, I'm pretty not picky.
2) WAHT about gilmore v gonzalez? That's a move I actually thought about

Allyzay lives aprox. 200 feet away from a stadium (allyzay), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

I need a defence and a tight end I think?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

gilmore's the blocking TE who the pathetic Lions didn't cover for 2 plays. complete fluke. gonzalez is also playing against the FEROCIOUS 49S 49ERS DEFENSE this weekend, if he can't get a TD against those dudes then he never will :(

Scott Fajita :( (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

well, they're in the top ten in terms of fantasy value. how good are they IRL? it's hard to say, kearse is gone for the season and their starting corners are out for another week or two. they still look like one of the better defenses in the NFC right now.

Ah, that was you! I'm at w0rk where all sorts of time-w4stng activities are blocked.

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

What I sort of don't get is how yahoo were all "lol@dudes drafting chicago 6th round" for ages, then chicago are predictably good defensively (though not as amazing as say baltimore) and now it's unimaginable that Chicago (or B'more, or Atlanta) would be traded for a sixth-rounder? Are defences just racking up unusually massive numbers this year?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 28 September 2006 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

I made offers!

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Monday, 2 October 2006 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

Gravel, I like my chances this week against you. All my opponents this week are a bunch of chimps on rollerskates (except PIT vs SD). These projected points are bulljive.

Of course I just jinxed it.

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

It's up to Bill Belichick really! If they pass, I win, if they run, you do.

Projected points I find rly confusing, probably they are total rubbish but they must be based on something? My image of teams of football-outsiders style expert statisticians endlessly recalculating every number is maybe kinda daft though.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

lk (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

I made trade. I hope someone finds Chris Chambers.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Laurence it is a CUNNING PLAN, I'm hoping to synch up gauranteed bye-week defeat w/ guaranteed being-served-up-to-haikunym defeat.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

Do not go gentle into that good friday night light!

lk (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

I'm driving hard bargains... but FAIR BARGAINS.
Come see about me.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

All I really wanted to do, Tofu, was split up my Jets WR package because they have a bye approaching, and I've liked Braylon since he was in college. No biggie, though... I'll get by.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I'd actually like to do it; but all this shit with Mangina has me gunshy. I might be up for it anyway, I don't care much for the Browns.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

Cool, it's on. FWIW, Coles has been listed as Q every week so far and has played every time. Actually, I'm sure he'll score twice this week just because I'm trading him away (it always seems to happen).

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 13 October 2006 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

I think it's a total toss up whether that trade will matter to either of us; they're both seeming to be bound as lower tier top-25 wr's.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 13 October 2006 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, it's just gonna help me out on the Jets bye.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 13 October 2006 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

ok on the kitna/cooley trade, but ade you don't have any other qbs on the bench so you might want to pick one up or perhaps make a trade with me for vince young

gear (gear), Friday, 13 October 2006 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

Or he could pick up Rofflesberger for free.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

Big Ben's played how many games this season and still doesn't have positive fantasy points? He might do better with a blank QB slot.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 14 October 2006 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

Rofflesberger has been bad but he actually was quite good in the first half against the Bolts. He's very rusty, but he was a solid QB last year and still has plenty of options. If I didn't like my other three QBs more I would certainly stash him on my bench.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Saturday, 14 October 2006 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

boldin is helping me in one league but argghh why against the bears? berrian needs to get me some points in this league, too.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 00:19 (eighteen years ago)

Screw Berrian! I hope Davis gets 3 freak TD receptions in the 2nd half... must... beat... CNNSI's Peter King!

But seriously... wtf Cards!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

WHO IS THE CRACK-SMOKER WHO DESIGNED THIS LEAGUE??

How is it that I have the #1 Defense in terms of points allowed (DEN),
yet have the #10 Defense in terms of "fan points"!?!? ridonculous!!

the idea that having a few measy "sacks" counts way more than holding NFL teams to THREE POINTS OR LESS (DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS AND HOW MUCH IT SHOULD BE DULY REWARDED??) is a joke

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

WHO IS THE CRACK-SMOKER WHO BLAH BLAH ridonculous!! BLAH BLAH measy BLAH BLAH

Did you know that sometimes a receiver will randomly catch an 80 yard touchdown and be worth more than a crucial #1 receiver with 160 yards and no touchdowns? It's not real football. Get used to it.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 05:29 (eighteen years ago)

uh listen noob I've been playing fantasy football for 8 years, and every league I've been has awarded points based on a decreasing scale according to points allowed by the D. I am bitching (on *this* thread! heaven forbid!) this *specific* setup as it pertains to this *specific* league. in that context your blabbing about WR scoring has no fukkin relevance.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 11:53 (eighteen years ago)

FWIW, I think Haikunym is the cat to beat here.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 24 October 2006 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

that doesn't change the statement I made for the time being, and the Giants aren't going to change the way they're using Jacobs as long as they can work the shit out of Barber. but I don't care! Deny the trade, I mean seriously I just am like f.u. chad johnson this week. I have no idea how you get points in fantasy football to be honest :D

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Tuesday, 24 October 2006 20:12 (eighteen years ago)

Mr. Somerset Maugham I love Of Human Bondage please trade me Chad Johnson for like Greg Jennings.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 24 October 2006 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

ok no i can't let this happen. ffs ally, you'd be getting a washed-up back and two half-assed WRs for a starting qb, a goalline back, and one of top 5 WRs in the game.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 24 October 2006 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I guess not understanding the rules and just pickin' dudes cos you think they're awesome is maybe a bad strategy.

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Monday, 30 October 2006 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

FACT: yr first season will be yr best - from here on out it's nothing but overthinking, hasty pullouts and stupid gambles. anything you need to know can be learned in fifteen seconds and a glance at ffl preview covers (you don't even have to open them) at walmart of whatever (all there is to know: heavy workload rb's worth most, counting stats weighed heavily) and maybe three more seconds pondering yr ffl "philosophy" ('upside' vs. 'solid', do you try to trade studs for depth or depth for studs, which old rb do you absurdly not have faith in keeping it up, which old rb do you absurdly have faith can keep it up, which rookie will you overrate), the rest (ie. 80%) is luck and catching breaks w/ the schedule.

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 30 October 2006 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure if you didn't know anybody's name and were drafting based solely on stats (Ladainian becomes LT1) AND if you weren't watching the games, but just reading box scores you'd stand a better chance of winning.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 30 October 2006 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Monday, 30 October 2006 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Monday, 30 October 2006 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

I think Gravel Puzzleworth has hit on the only really defensible argument for fantasy sports. Well, that and talking shit during live drafts.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 30 October 2006 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

That's true. I've been into college ball since my youth, but it's only been within the last five or so years that I've gotten into the NFL with a passion. Any tool I can use to devote myself even more is good as far as I'm concerned.

The thing I'll have to overcome in next year's draft is favoring SEC players. All the really good SEC players (with the exception of a few occasional QBs and RBs) come from the defensive side of the ball.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 30 October 2006 22:38 (eighteen years ago)

I made a crucial mistake trading TJ Housh for Reggie "I'll Be Awesome in 2008" Bush, but I couldn't pull the trigger fast enough since I love the guy so much.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 30 October 2006 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

All the really good SEC players (with the exception of a few occasional QBs and RBs) come from the defensive side of the ball.

Or the O-line. Will anyone chase a QB in a couple of years just because he's being protected by Big Mike Oher?

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Monday, 30 October 2006 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

That said, I'm calling dibs on Dallas Baker right now.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 30 October 2006 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

Rules clarification -- do kickoff-return yards count for an RB?

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 03:35 (eighteen years ago)

Nope. But if he would've scored a TD on the runback, you'd have gotten those points.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 03:43 (eighteen years ago)

Crap.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 05:25 (eighteen years ago)

xd! I have never supported a "winner"-type team in any sport really, the sort which grinds out results in windy wet away games, and having Brady as Fantasy QB is giving me kind of awesome insights into what that would be like - this total & complete trust that all that you can reasonably expect will probably get done? Fifty-point MNF = sweet.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 13:08 (eighteen years ago)

The difference between 6-2 and 2-6 is one point apparently! Poor, poor Tofu.

I really need a slightly-above-waiver-quality RB or WR for this week, can anyone's bench oblige? I have, uh, John Kitna, maybe some other stuff.

Leee Nooo! I like that trade much better but Kitna is gone now :( Do you want uh Tony Romo instead?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 1 November 2006 09:04 (eighteen years ago)

Crap, Maughams! You took Mark Clayton out from under me because I'm totally retarded and didn't click yes enough times to put my waiver claim on him.

Me = dum.

It's nothing, David R. I tried to orchestrate a wimpy trade for Favre, but reconsidered.

That Romo deal especially seems totally mad now? Oh well.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Saturday, 4 November 2006 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

Um yeah, considering you how decent your RBs already are and that you now have no safety QB...

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 4 November 2006 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

I just proposed one to you.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 4 November 2006 23:51 (eighteen years ago)

I sort of feel 8 points is a pretty wack return for 190 yards against Chicago :((

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 5 November 2006 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

Why the fuck did I start Tennessee on defense this week. Wtf.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 6 November 2006 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

(I haven't followed his status this week.)

A) I didn't start BJohnson and his 2 FumLs and 1 Ints; or
B) Kept Nedney instead of burning a waiver on Jake Reed

Ade, you've got LDT which really puts all the rest of us (except Haikunym) at a disadvantage. Why you wanna hurt me like that?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

I am to blame. I traded LDT to ade after a three day drinking binge. I have created this monster and I will end it right here right now.

Okay then, I sent a revised proposal.

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Friday, 17 November 2006 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

hey yeah sorry, i'd accepted that trade already when i got yrs but for some reason it didn't register i had done so for awhile. i sweetened the pot a little as a gesture of good faith.

j blount (papa la bas), Saturday, 18 November 2006 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

Blount, if you're up for a 2nd round of this fire sale, I've made another proposal! We'll be BFFs!

Cool -- thanks, Blount.

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 18 November 2006 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

If anyone needs RB depth, I'd love to move some combination of Reggie Bush, Wali Lundy, and Jamal Lewis for a more reliable RB.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Saturday, 18 November 2006 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

i'm not sure i can allow that trade to go through, fellas! but whatever. i'll wait until the end of the day to see if there are any protests and if not i'll process it before midnight.

gear (gear), Saturday, 18 November 2006 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

I could see vetoing that trade. It seems like a player dump to me. Kevin Jones alone is worth more than all the guys he's being traded for.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Sunday, 19 November 2006 09:41 (eighteen years ago)

yeah but to agree to this obvious player dump when we've let all the other obvious player dumps go through...churlish?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 19 November 2006 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

i decided to veto the trade. there have been previous player dumps of course but usually it was trading unused parts for unused parts.

I've got 1 player in Monday night's game. Ally's got six or something ridiculous. I don't think making up the 20pt. difference (and then some) is gonna be too tough.

And thus, I lose again.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 20 November 2006 04:48 (eighteen years ago)

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 05:13 (eighteen years ago)

seriously how/why did i draft the only two starting running backs in the nfl who are allergic to the goal line? if tiki ti is so awesome why doesn't he have a nose for the end zone? does he break off these long runs and step out of bounds at the one just to give jacobs some work? and wtf, julius jones? are you a pussy? makes sense the dude who would be plunging into the end zone instead of him is named barber, though, haha ; (

seriously if anyone wants to offer me up any decent running backs for either of these raped-by-rb-by-committee dudes, go for it.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 07:33 (eighteen years ago)

There was a run in the Cowboys game where Jones did this amazing run that stopped at like the two inch line, as if the endzone was his kryptonite and he got the ball as close as possible without going in there.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 21 November 2006 08:17 (eighteen years ago)
