yay. I like denver, TOO. I like living right by the park with a view of downtown, and I like hearing the PEACOCKS at the zoo. I like the big sky and the weather is pretty nice. That's my current list.

All those other good things too -- DANIEL TIGER, THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT DISNEYLAND, BUFF BILL'S GRAVE, STUFF.

Oh, but I don't go to the suburbs because I don't like them.

What is she studying?

"Conflict Resolution," at DU. (Not surprising, since I'm is pretty good at conflict instigation.)

Conflict resolution as in International Diplomacy, or conflict resolution as in Social Work?

Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Monday, 29 August 2005 23:10 (nineteen years ago) link

It's out of the Graduate School of International Studies that Madeleine Albright's father Josef Korbel founded, and that Condi (alas) got a degree from.

Well, actually that sounds exciting. (My dad was a poli sci prof.)

also, p.s, jerry, I don't think I've ever been to Ichabods! Is it one of the used places on Broadway? Although I don't expect you to remember street names.

I thought it was grand! It's funny someone mentioned a brown building, I couldn't believe how brown Denver was when I went there, it kinda amazed me. So beautiful in the evenings, with the fading whiteblue complementary sky.

The Wrights are v.good, even better than the hype. Also they have a SWELL PAD.

i very nearly took a job working for a paper in rural colorado, about an hour away from DENVER. but i just couldn't do it. if the job market in mpls continues to totally lick butthole, i may think about it again.

i spend about a day in denver last march. it was ok, the downtown reminded me of minneapolis, actually! i had a few drinks in an awful bar with my dad.

I was chattin', with kelly, the other night, when I was drunk, about a restaurant I went to, in denver. I think we figured out that it was called "the delectable egg" because I woke up to a photo of it, on my computer screen.

1000 miles

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:19 (nineteen years ago) link

it is much nicer than detroit.
lots of really poorly run companies are located here like qwest, united, janus, invesco, etc...

the broncos are better than the lions but i still take pride in the absolutely pathetic performance the lions put on this evening.

keith m (keithmcl), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:19 (nineteen years ago) link

rjg, yep. the egg restaurant I haven't been to. I bet waking up to that picture brought back fond teenage egg memories.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:37 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm always trying to get my friends to go there but they aren't as excited about it as I am.

I used to live two or three blocks from Rodney's in the early 90s. I remember downing scotch there like 12 years ago with a buddy, and it was actually really disturbing and depressing to my then young mind. It was like, "is this what I have to look forward to? These people?"

Maybe less depressing than chugging Fat Tire at the Cherry Cricket tho. ("Is this who I am? Some fratboy?")

Hunter (Hunter), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:37 (nineteen years ago) link

sound slike you were bumming everyone out, it's probably much happier here now that you've gone.

No, you all were having a grand time, keith!

The dynamic of 45 y/o chicks hanging on 60 year olds with Porsche keys conspicuously displayed might have thrown off my equilibrium. That or all the johnny walker.

that one camper looks so hot under that canoe. and the second picture is TOTALLY the part where Judy tells Angela that she has "No HAIR DOWN BEEELOWW!"

I love the Denver gang! And at the executive suite they treat you damn right.

I have the sleepaway camp trio on dvd.

oh, the third one! never seen that one before

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:13 (nineteen years ago) link

It's definitely the weak link of the trio.

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:14 (nineteen years ago) link

executive suite! I forgot the name of my OWN APARTMENT. For a minute.

The second Sleepaway Camp was kind of my favorite. The fact that they could only afford 10 campers or so, Angela hating fornicators, etc.

I LIKE THAT SLUT, ALLY, WHO DOES IT WITH THAT GUY AND THEN SAYS 'HEY YOU DON'T HAVE AIDS OR NOTHIN' DO YA?'

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Sleepaway camp 2 is full of famous people's LESSER FAMOUS siblings. Like Pamela SPRINGSTEEN and Renee ESTEVEZ. I like it a lot for that reason.

do they only serve eggs ya think?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:57 (nineteen years ago) link

They serve 'skillet'.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm pretty sure they serve other stuff--I don't think I ate eggs, when I was 14/15, and I don't remember being too hungry

I am not a slut. Not so much.

I am considering a Denver return, since it is so nice there. Would it be REAL BAD to come in winter?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:18 (nineteen years ago) link

winter isn't so bad. There are still LOTS of sunny days. A lot of the big snow storms happen in SPRING or FALL, actually. And the mountains get most of the snow and then it misses here. There might be just enough snow to build a snow man or go sledding or do something equally montagey.

Now I want eggs. Delectable eggs!

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha I want an egg montage.
