It's out of the Graduate School of International Studies that Madeleine Albright's father Josef Korbel founded, and that Condi (alas) got a degree from.

Well, actually that sounds exciting. (My dad was a poli sci prof.)

Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Monday, 29 August 2005 23:32 (nineteen years ago)

also, p.s, jerry, I don't think I've ever been to Ichabods! Is it one of the used places on Broadway? Although I don't expect you to remember street names.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Monday, 29 August 2005 23:44 (nineteen years ago)

I thought it was grand! It's funny someone mentioned a brown building, I couldn't believe how brown Denver was when I went there, it kinda amazed me. So beautiful in the evenings, with the fading whiteblue complementary sky.

The Wrights are v.good, even better than the hype. Also they have a SWELL PAD.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:19 (nineteen years ago)

i very nearly took a job working for a paper in rural colorado, about an hour away from DENVER. but i just couldn't do it. if the job market in mpls continues to totally lick butthole, i may think about it again.

i spend about a day in denver last march. it was ok, the downtown reminded me of minneapolis, actually! i had a few drinks in an awful bar with my dad.

geoff (gcannon), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 00:30 (nineteen years ago)

NO SKYWAYS IN DENVER.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

wow, geoff, where was it? i'm imagining you living in WIGGINS

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 01:55 (nineteen years ago)

I was chattin', with kelly, the other night, when I was drunk, about a restaurant I went to, in denver. I think we figured out that it was called "the delectable egg" because I woke up to a photo of it, on my computer screen.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 01:57 (nineteen years ago)

HOW FAR FROM CHICAGO TO DENVER, AS THE CROW FLIES?

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

1000 miles

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:19 (nineteen years ago)

it is much nicer than detroit.
lots of really poorly run companies are located here like qwest, united, janus, invesco, etc...

the broncos are better than the lions but i still take pride in the absolutely pathetic performance the lions put on this evening.

keith m (keithmcl), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:19 (nineteen years ago)

rjg, yep. the egg restaurant I haven't been to. I bet waking up to that picture brought back fond teenage egg memories.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

I'm always trying to get my friends to go there but they aren't as excited about it as I am.

I used to live two or three blocks from Rodney's in the early 90s. I remember downing scotch there like 12 years ago with a buddy, and it was actually really disturbing and depressing to my then young mind. It was like, "is this what I have to look forward to? These people?"

Maybe less depressing than chugging Fat Tire at the Cherry Cricket tho. ("Is this who I am? Some fratboy?")

Hunter (Hunter), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

sound slike you were bumming everyone out, it's probably much happier here now that you've gone.

keith m (keithmcl), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:43 (nineteen years ago)

nice try, adam

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:45 (nineteen years ago)

This thread isn't really about Denver, is it?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:50 (nineteen years ago)

No, you all were having a grand time, keith!

The dynamic of 45 y/o chicks hanging on 60 year olds with Porsche keys conspicuously displayed might have thrown off my equilibrium. That or all the johnny walker.

Hunter (Hunter), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:51 (nineteen years ago)

p.s -- I don't flirt!!

and rodneys is the PLACE OF THE FUTURE! I'm gonna go drink whiskey and water with some old dudes asap.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

kelly totally flirts - it's funny.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

you're right, this thread isn't about denver

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:05 (nineteen years ago)

that one camper looks so hot under that canoe. and the second picture is TOTALLY the part where Judy tells Angela that she has "No HAIR DOWN BEEELOWW!"

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:06 (nineteen years ago)

I love the Denver gang! And at the executive suite they treat you damn right.

I have the sleepaway camp trio on dvd.

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:11 (nineteen years ago)

oh, the third one! never seen that one before

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:13 (nineteen years ago)

It's definitely the weak link of the trio.

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

executive suite! I forgot the name of my OWN APARTMENT. For a minute.

The second Sleepaway Camp was kind of my favorite. The fact that they could only afford 10 campers or so, Angela hating fornicators, etc.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:44 (nineteen years ago)

I LIKE THAT SLUT, ALLY, WHO DOES IT WITH THAT GUY AND THEN SAYS 'HEY YOU DON'T HAVE AIDS OR NOTHIN' DO YA?'

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

the first one is the best, though

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

Sleepaway camp 2 is full of famous people's LESSER FAMOUS siblings. Like Pamela SPRINGSTEEN and Renee ESTEVEZ. I like it a lot for that reason.

not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 03:58 (nineteen years ago)

keep the dream alive!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:41 (nineteen years ago)

I've been to the Delectable Egg! There was typical Brit tipping confusion.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

do they only serve eggs ya think?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:57 (nineteen years ago)

They serve 'skillet'.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:01 (nineteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure they serve other stuff--I don't think I ate eggs, when I was 14/15, and I don't remember being too hungry

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:02 (nineteen years ago)

I am not a slut. Not so much.

I am considering a Denver return, since it is so nice there. Would it be REAL BAD to come in winter?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:18 (nineteen years ago)

winter isn't so bad. There are still LOTS of sunny days. A lot of the big snow storms happen in SPRING or FALL, actually. And the mountains get most of the snow and then it misses here. There might be just enough snow to build a snow man or go sledding or do something equally montagey.

Now I want eggs. Delectable eggs!

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

Haha I want an egg montage.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

egg montage

Ah, Lucy. What further treasures will you leave for future generations?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 15:25 (nineteen years ago)

How can you just GO to Denver? just like that?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

I used aeroplanes

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I suppose I could walk.

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 15:34 (nineteen years ago)

ally c will fly here by plane, like richard said (at least i think so)

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 15:38 (nineteen years ago)

On my one visit, I was very amused by a bar (with shows) called the 15th Street Tavern... esp one grizzled staffer in a wifebeater conducting a nonstop monolgue to himself, sorta Tom Waits' Less Fortunate Brother.
