not to fuel it really, but I find the soviet russia thing kinda funny, now that it's gone past its original intentions, whatever those were.

"n yr base killing all yr d00dz," mentioned upthread, is an all-time great.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 21 January 2006 05:58 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm not sure I'd heard "broheems" before ILX, but after William Hurt in A History of Violence, I was certain it'd have more currency now -- at least an Urban Dictionary entry. And yet a Google search of the word turns up not much more than posts on 1) ILX (this thread in particular), 2) Yard Work, and 3) Raposa's blog. Huh.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:08 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmmm, I take that back. There are a few notable hits for "broheem" (singular), including a linguistics list-serv that references William Hurt.

"Hen fap" is obviously ILx's most succesful meme to date, and I feel happy to have had a little part in its success.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 6 April 2006 16:47 (eighteen years ago) link

"hen fap" is pretty exclusively aja/d, don't you agree?

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Thursday, 6 April 2006 17:06 (eighteen years ago) link

Hen Fap started on Aja/D, but it spread like bird flu!

Fight the Real Enemy -- Tasti D-Lite (ex machina), Thursday, 6 April 2006 17:46 (eighteen years ago) link

I've seen it here a couple of times (and might have done it myself), but not sure it's a fullblown meme: writing out numbers legalese-style, like

"Get one (1) brain."

naus (Robert T), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I do not yet recognise 'hen fap' as official meme. it hasn't crossed over yet.

Some of us have gotten in at the ground level. The rest of you will just have to be happy with bandwagonning when it reaches its peak later in the year.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:34 (eighteen years ago) link

despite enjoying the deployment of the word 'hen' generally, i am unconvinced. what would the wikipedia entry for 'hen fap' say?
