That's really fucking it.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ally, is garancey80@yahoo.com one of your e-mail addresses?

Alan (Alan), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

it is similar to one of her old ones

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

hstencil, Friday, 9 May 2003 15:45 (twenty-one years ago) link

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

I no longer use that email address.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 9 May 2003 15:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

Could one of you beautiful powerful people lock/delet this thread: I have found the website of the most retarded man on earth ?
I really shouldn't go airing out my baseless private prejudices and i'm ashamed of it. Thanks!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 10 May 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is surely no worse than a minor embarrassment for you, Dan. I don't see it as any candidate for deletion or locking.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 10 May 2003 18:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

Drat!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 10 May 2003 18:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

Indeed, I am about to increase the font size and bold the text of the thread so people can properly revel in it.

(I may be kidding.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 10 May 2003 18:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

(haha, my plan is working! I knew it would!)

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 10 May 2003 18:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

When Dans Clash!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 10 May 2003 19:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Can one of you please delete my half=arsed attempts at linking here

And obv. the sweary response straight after.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 11 May 2003 10:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

Done!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 11 May 2003 11:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

The All New Laugh Out Loud thread eats my modem up. Could someone lock the old thread and open a new one? (I would do the opening part myself but I can't think of a snappy title right now.)

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Monday, 12 May 2003 11:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

Old thread isn't locked, but Stevem's opened a new one.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

All right, I just noticed the first LOL thread wasn't locked either, so thanks.

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think all 'old' threads like this should be locked, with a 'this thread continues here' link facility.

I'm pretty sure someone's already mentioned this...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Great idea, I can't remember how to link tho

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

um just paste the url into the message, it converts it to blue writing with the name of the thread

Alan (Alan), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

Fuckin A? Wow!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 12 May 2003 12:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

Fuckin A! Ok, linked and locked. Hope this is ok.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 12 May 2003 13:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Could someone change http to ihttp on my contribution to

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLY!!!!!

Cheers

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 09:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

Er, thanks for whoever done that. Any chance of closing the tag, or my next witticism will be lost to the ages.

PS: thanks again, I am the complainy man.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 12:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

You can click "show all details" to get a list of all moderator actions in a thread. (This might only work if you're registered, I can't remember)

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 13:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Done, Andrew F!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 13:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Thanks, Andrew, and Alan, and N.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is a test. (Hello World!)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hello Noodles!

World (felicity), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

World, did you note that show all details works just grebt at the bottum of the screen?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:46 (twenty-one years ago) link

The ILF FAQ looks a bit unofficial to me.

Frühlingsmute (Wintermute), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 21:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

I dunno if this is really a moderator-type issue / request, but since folks new to the boards are (I presume) not going to scroll down to the SEARCH function to see if their thread idea has already been explored, perhaps it might be good to move the SEARCH link to the top of the page (w/ perhaps a li'l note to tell new folks to search before posting a thread)? Or simply have search links on the top & bottom?

Just a thought. That is all. Carry on.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 May 2003 04:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm not sure if this is because of the thread I just started (the bizarre books one) but I did do a search for similar threads afore I posted - its reasonably clear where the search function is, FWIW :)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 May 2003 05:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

You might want to change the way things are moderated. Im not sure identifing cookies are the best route to go. Specially if a moderator uses other people computers.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 15 May 2003 12:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

it's more than just a cookie. you have to have a valid username/password combo, and that user name has to have admin rights and even then admins need to re-enter their passwords when they start mod'ing. Unless you know of a loophole??

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 15 May 2003 13:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

World, did you note that show all details works just grebt at the bottum of the screen?

Yes, Noodles, I did! I have nothing to hide!

World (felicity), Thursday, 15 May 2003 13:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

Moderator, PLEASE REMOVE other posters' guesses at the identity of Person X on this thread: Let's talk about houseguests.

kate, Thursday, 15 May 2003 13:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

Bump, as I see it hasn't been done yet.

kate, Thursday, 15 May 2003 13:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well, you could start with giving a good reason why a non-abusive post by someone else should be altered at your request.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Because it is invasive and I wish for the parties involved to remain anonymous. If the person so name-checked were not a poster on ILX, it would be done under those circumstances.

kate, Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

How much more invasive than discussing their sleeping habits in public? If you wanted it anonymous, you should have started an anonymous thread.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

You are a cunt.

kate, Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

The reason that I did not give their names is, as usual, because I wanted people's *honest* thoughts on the matter, not coloured by their impressions and prejudices about the people in question. I have no desire to incur the wrath of the Momus fanclub for asking how much advance warning should be given by impending houseguests.

Yeah, on second thought, maybe I SHOULD have started the thread anonymously, but I guess I gave other ILE posters too much credit to be able to discuss things without letting them turn into a childish guessing game.

And you're still a cunt.

kate, Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah, fair cop.

A partial defense is that when I posted the name again, I didn't realise that the earlier instances had been sanitised. So now I invite a mod to sanitise the name again form my post.

Though yeah, fair cop.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

I posted this on that thread, but I think it should go here too:

I really think that if someone's going to modify somebody else's post, it's a good idea to let them know that. I've had a couple posts myseriously disappear over the past few days with no explanation whatsoever, and I think that's totally creepy and out-of-line (plus if I did something wrong I'd like to know so I won't do it again).

hstencil, Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think Andrew Farrell is worse than Hitler.

Since I was moderated can I ask who moderated me and why. You may do this in a personal e-mail if you do not wish to have this discussion on this board.

It doesn't bother me either way, but it would be useful for future reference to know whether unsubstantiated speculation on the identity of people who are being talked about in a pointedly specifically generalised manner should be barred. Cos as was also said on that thread, a number of people were thinking the same as me and hence the anonymity was neither here nor there.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is ridiculous.
