electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:19 (twenty years ago) link

IT'S A MADHOUSE!

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:25 (twenty years ago) link

i think it's cos nabisco isn't here to reason with us

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:48 (twenty years ago) link

haha - I've thought the same thing!

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:49 (twenty years ago) link

he'd be all "the problem here isn't, at least not completely, trife at the spinning wheel (i suspect we're used to trifean rhetoric by now)- it's that we got at least three (ideally) distinct arguments, set up in a way such that involvement in one implicates you in the rest. so if you think this isn't the ideal URL in which to be arguing these issues, you become inseparable from the person saying that race is no longer an issue in current american society" but he'd put it better, and be right.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 25 August 2003 07:07 (twenty years ago) link

he'd totally get my vote for class president

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 25 August 2003 07:15 (twenty years ago) link

He's Finnish!

I was sad to find this out. "Kalevala" in his name is the Finnish national epic (like the Edda poems in Norway) which some of these stupid fascists use as an "inspiration" (there's nothing about racial purity there, but they use it to emphasize their "Finnishness"). Luckily, the extreme right-wingers in Finland are a pathetic bunch, we haven't had a noteworthy far right since the 1930's. I hope it stays that way.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 25 August 2003 10:25 (twenty years ago) link

But is he still around?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 25 August 2003 12:58 (twenty years ago) link

can someone either add a "not safe for work" tag to the ludivine sagnier thread or make the last image a link?

dada can be f***ing annoying sometimes.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 17:07 (twenty years ago) link

only sometimes? I don't know why he doesn't just drop it.
Could you give a link to the message itself and we can get it faster. This may require clicking on the show all details button to see the message link.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 17:33 (twenty years ago) link

ok, someone added the tag. i guess more "swimming pool" spoilers are not in my future.

thanks friendly moderators!

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 17:34 (twenty years ago) link

Singling out one poster for behavior that isn't any worse than any of the regular posters: C/D?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 20:50 (twenty years ago) link

Shut up. You're singlehandedly responsible for the deterioration of ILE.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 21:28 (twenty years ago) link

I am not.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 August 2003 21:29 (twenty years ago) link

Yer racist troll has taken to AAD. Me and Jim are away for the weekend so if anyone can delete everything of his with prejudice I'd be chuffed.

Ta.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 29 August 2003 12:21 (twenty years ago) link

I've tried setting up Matt Coastal as an extra Moderator, but it ain't having none of it (it comes up with a message saying "no priveleges set" when all the goddamn boxes are ticked). If you could set him up as one i'd be eternally thankful, that is if I live that long.

Oh, his username is "Matt"

I'm off to a wedding for the weekend - see you later!

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 29 August 2003 12:27 (twenty years ago) link

Shit, I'll look into banning the IP if its our same unfriend.
Unless Andrew or Martin can get it going prior, I'll get my hammer out on Saturday and fix Matt up for you.
Lynskey if your still about can you email the IP to one of the email groups we use for this sorta thing?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 29 August 2003 13:36 (twenty years ago) link

Is Cervical Cancer linked to Tampons/Pads??

I request that a moderator delete this thread, because it vectors a long-debunked urban legend. (I've already linked it to the snopes.com page debunking it, if the moderators don't consider the thread worth deleting.)

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 30 August 2003 01:07 (twenty years ago) link

Outkast - "Hey Ya"

whoops. didn't mean to hyperlink here since it isn't supposed to be accessed? does it need changed? I was trying to paste nick's asking if there was a way to show other hosted files.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 30 August 2003 04:43 (twenty years ago) link

RJG that is sorted

j-lu I think it is better to demolish that myth publicly (= everyone who reads is exposed to the truth abt it) than just delete it (= no one can read it who didn't already)

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 30 August 2003 08:58 (twenty years ago) link

Done. I'll try looking into the reason why it wasn't working since Im enjoying Chelski struggling.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 30 August 2003 14:37 (twenty years ago) link

uh, there was some Geir-started thread about songs with certain words in the title that just disappeared. What's that about?

hstencil, Saturday, 30 August 2003 14:46 (twenty years ago) link

I mean just 'cause the guy is a doof, why delete the thread?

hstencil, Saturday, 30 August 2003 14:47 (twenty years ago) link

okay so I don't have time to get mired in controversy, I've got to get going, but can whomever deleted that thread, at some point, post their rationale for doing so? It seems really arbitrary and - wait for it - creepy.

hstencil, Saturday, 30 August 2003 14:53 (twenty years ago) link

That was me, meant to delete the image redirect from our eager grunge fan, ended up deleting Geir thread while watching Amaroso going bannanas.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 30 August 2003 14:55 (twenty years ago) link

hstencil, if you wish to find out who did what, check the admin log. It can be found from the log page which has a link at the bottom right of most pages here.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 30 August 2003 15:04 (twenty years ago) link

I'll be messing around on http://ilx.wh3rd.net/newquestions.php?board=3
in the next few days while I check out the problem Lynskey was having.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 30 August 2003 15:19 (twenty years ago) link

Yo thanks for your service! The wedding was lovely.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Sunday, 31 August 2003 14:35 (twenty years ago) link

okay Mr. Noodles, no sweat, I should've checked the log.

hstencil, Sunday, 31 August 2003 16:09 (twenty years ago) link

can someone replace the porno pic that Ally posted to the Hate Orbit thread with a link?

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:21 (twenty years ago) link

-- j.lu (flavi...), August 30th, 2003. (tracklink)

I that a chink of that thread and theres no clear consensus that it is just a myth, so I think the thread should stay.

If you're sure it is a myth J Lu you should convince ppl on that thread.

mei (mei), Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:35 (twenty years ago) link

I do believe that pic Ally posted is the bend of someone's knee. Hate to disappoint.

Texas, Biyatch! (thatgirl), Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:39 (twenty years ago) link

i just deleted a thread started anonymously quoting someone else anonymously (long ago) attacking people for discussing a non-anonymous actual real now-occasional poster who i'm not going to name bcz the thread — even though it had her name IN THE TITLE — was nothing to do with her

get a fucking grip people

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:10 (twenty years ago) link

ie make the point — if there actually was one — w/o merely incidentally and thoughtlessly trashing people who actually post here but are not in any way involved in any discussions you are currently having

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:12 (twenty years ago) link

fair enough mark, i didnt mean to call any one person out, you know? just to say i think misandry's considered AOK by a few too many people around here.

zxcvbnm, Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:19 (twenty years ago) link

Oh for fucks sake.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:22 (twenty years ago) link

oh boohoo us poor oppressed men!

(any other men feel oppressed here?)

hstencil, Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:22 (twenty years ago) link

ok fair enough zxcvbnm, but ask the question another way plz: i don't see why that poster should have to read all that stuff all over again when it wz really nothing to do with her, or anything she'd done, in the first place

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:23 (twenty years ago) link

Does misandry=oppression? In any case, I don't see any evidence of it.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:26 (twenty years ago) link

misandry = misogyny, flipped and reversed

dengo matherton (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:27 (twenty years ago) link

'work it' invented man hating!!! missy 'misandroist' elliott

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:40 (twenty years ago) link

This is getting a bit long, I think. Debark to here (with actual real shouts):
