Barf or Bone?

It's a game my friend invented. Pick the famous person(s) who you simultaneously want to puke on and have sex with them. Examples? Martha Stewart, The Olsen Twins, Howard Stern . . .

kelsey (kelstarry), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Why is it "Barf OR Bone," if you are doing both of these things simultaneously?
And is this some sort of "Xtreme" version of having a "love/hate" relationship with someone?

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

It's an expression of ambivalence, maybe? Like "eh, I could barf on 'em, I could bone em...whatevs!"

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

no, no, no. The idea is that the person is kinda barfy, but for whatever reason -- charisma, intelligence, a personal kink -- you kinda want to bone them at the same time. Like objectively the person is not attractive, but you are attracted to them still for whatever reason . . .

Conservatives You Like

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus. I *just* now realized how I worded this whole thing from the beginning. The point is indecision . . . you don't know whether you would want (for lack of better word) to puke or have sex. Both options are simultaneously present...you don't do both at the same time.

kelsey (kelstarry), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Nobody's gonna actually say "The Olsen Twins." I mean you know that, right?

martin m. (mushrush), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Because you could barf on one and bone the other.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what twins are for.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

mookieproof (mookieproof), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

what's barf about bjork?

kelsey (kelstarry), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Bjork annoys me to the point of barf half of the time. Also, have you seen Dancer in the Dark?

martin m. (mushrush), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

If it were just the old Bjork dressed up in a fat bee outfit running around the stage, there'd be no barf at all, I promise.

martin m. (mushrush), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

This is an interesting corollary thread, perhaps:

well then: 'People You Find Attractive But Don't Think Others Do'.

I don't see the barf in either Bjork or Drew Barrymore.

We need more men on this list.

Anthony Michael Hall, back in the day. Nowadays, he's just barf.

capitale capitall (capitale capitall), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I definitely see the barf in Drew Barrymore. So much so that I can't see the "bone."

oh my god. obviously if it was brief it didn't go well . . . but still. any juicy tidbits?

kelsey (kelstarry), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't see the barf in...Drew Barrymore.

Seeing some movies of hers recently has made me realize she is basically Alicia Silverstone with a modicum of cred. Her fame is almost totally unwarranted, hence the gag reflex.

Brian Wilson (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

kissinger.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Can someone point me to the alternate universe where it wasn't blatantly obvious from the get-go that Alicia Sliverstone and Drew Barrymore do the same types of movies?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, where is the movie with Alicia Silverstone kicking gratuitous kungfu ass on helicopters on fire and shit!?!? I WANTS IT.

It wasn't till I saw Donnie Darko that I realized they do them the same way.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, back in the nineties one dated the guy from Hole and the other appeared in Aerosmith videos. And it wasn't like I was seeing any of her films. IT MADE SENSE IN HIGH SCHOOL, OK?

Brian Wilson (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Did/Would Silverstone do "Playboy"/flash Letterman, etc., though?

xpost so what are you saying?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Nick. I can stop compiling my embarrassing list now, cause they've all been covered.

Except maybe Alanis. But I've moved a lot more to the barf side of the barf/bone axis with regard to her over the past few years.

martin m. (mushrush), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

blueski, Friday, 9 May 2008 14:28 (seventeen years ago)

I just learned the urban dictionary definition of "cosby sweater" today. It embodies both barf and bone.
