Well, if film is still being discussed here, I guess baseball can be too.

I doubt this year will be anything close to last year in terms of excitement and meltdowns and old guys being rolled by pitchers and whatnot, but fwiw, here are my predictions for this year (as a Twins fan who's found his best good luck charm to be a healthy dose of pessimism).

Yanks over Twins in 5
Sox over Angels in 4
Cardinals over Dodgers in 4
Astros over Braves in 5

Sox over Yanks in 7
Cardinals over Astros in 6

Cardinals over Sox in an anti-climactic 5

We've just started discussing this over at I Love Baseball:

(that comment isn't directed at Eric H, who of course posted on that ILB thread, it's just an FYI link)

That sounds about right to me, EXCEPT I think the Braves will beat the Astros and the World Series will go 7. The Red Sox have to lose tragically.

As good as the Cardinals are, I worry about them playing against the Astros. That's just one team that has had the Red Birds' number.

And I don't know if this makes any sense, but the Cards are bred to win out in 162 games, the long haul. They may have more work cut out for them in the short bursts. I hope, hope, hope they win.

Listen to me. I get all angry at people on the political threads for throwing in the towel on Kerry, and here I am, doubting the Grebt La Russa.

Angels over Sox in 4.

Do not doubt birds. Pujols mash ball. Destroy everyone.

I do look forward to Johan dispatching the Yanks. Just hope he gets 2 starts.

I'm supporting the Angels because they're the only team left I like. I'm a Pirates fan. I had such high hopes.
