i'm glad to see Jerry Orbach doing well for himself but i'm not sure the tough guy role in law&order is entirely suited to him

maybe i still miss harry mcgraw?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 11:36 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe you're just watching the wrong episodes -- try catching some from the noth/orbach/hennessy/waterston seasons. this season, sad to say, is shaping up to be too much of a dud for me to even deal.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

maura, have you seen the ads for the Law and Order computer game? It has Jerry Orbach, hurrah, but the lawyer is the new blonde one, boo.

I think I am going to start collecting records of musicals that feature Jerry Orbach.

rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, i saw the computer game. the sad thing is that the cgi probably (99.4%) has more acting range than ms. rohm.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

When her name comes up in the credits, my wife and I yell, "RÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖHM!" at the TV. We think this is her biggest contribution to the show.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

With perfect pitch, no doubt.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't he invent the tough guy role on Slaw and Larder, though? Everybody else was different: we had a pretty-boy, a brooder, a pretty-boy brooder... and the unclassifiable GEORGE DZUNZA for whom I still pine.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 17:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tracer you can buy the dvd set of season one eps to get your dzundza fix.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)

ok seriously, HOW MUCH OF A NERD AM I argh

maura (maura), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)

"Pining For The Dzunza" sounds like a song title.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

You mean the actors on L&O have names?

g (graysonlane), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:08 (twenty-three years ago)

ACtually, I kinda like Vince D'Onofrio on that one spin-off? SVU? Criminal Intent? I foget. But anyway, he is like contemporary Columbo.

g (graysonlane), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Criminal Intent! Vince is DA MAN.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Vincent D'Onofrio swooooooooooooon. Why can't Criminal Intent shoot two blocks from my apartment?

rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:23 (twenty-three years ago)

B-b-but Rosemary, I thought you preferred your passions to have UK accents.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 21:06 (twenty-three years ago)

D'onofrio rocks that show.

Joe (Joe), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned: not necessarily.

I saw Ice-T today!!!

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I liked Vincent and co. a lot at first, but that show is beginning to grate. I mean he's like SUPERCOP. Can't anyone else on that show ever get to do anything? And that patronising, head cocked to one side, mock ignorant interrogation technique they have him cart out every episode is no treat either.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

law & order: classic or dzunza?

kim is otm about vincent d. i like law and order: suv way better.
belzer & t should get more ice time. and is the sarge character the dad from alf or am i high?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Vincent is like an older, tougher, smarter Pacey (from dawson's creek, yo)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:19 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, and SUV am da best. I see what you mean about Alf dad..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:20 (twenty-three years ago)

My friend saw Ice-T two weeks ago in Soho. Rosemary, where was your sighting? So he's not West Coast bound anymore then? Rosemary: tell us about your passions...?! (Sorry Gareth, I've never seen Law & Order, that I know of. Am I missing anything?) My mom tells me that Homicide: Life on the Streets rawks though; filmed in your favorite town--Baltimore...

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 24 October 2002 01:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Ohhhh, Homicide. That was good.

Ice-T was here in Terror Town.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 24 October 2002 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

B-but your passions...?! What does Ned know that we don't?

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 24 October 2002 02:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh heavens, I wasn't suggesting anything hidden! Rosemary's spent some time over in the UK for school, that's all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 October 2002 02:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh rats, carry on then, Law & Order, that show is not on the WB = what is that show again?

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 24 October 2002 02:43 (twenty-three years ago)

fritz the captain on suv is dann florek - he plays don cragen - who was also the same character on the first couple of seasons of plain old law & order (and the 'mike logan works on staten island' movie). he also directed a couple of episodes of law & order.

i am also not convinced by the CI 'watch me pull the twist out of my hat five minute before the credits' schtick. but d'onofrio is fun to watch sometimes - i haven't seen any of his movies and i bet i'd enjoy them.

maura (maura), Thursday, 24 October 2002 04:46 (twenty-three years ago)

homicide: life on the street was my favourite show once! lovable characters AND 'real' wobbly camera work. brilliant.

i hate special victims unit SO MUCH. only pedaphiles and rapists like it.

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 04:53 (twenty-three years ago)

go easy

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 October 2002 04:55 (twenty-three years ago)

really tho jim, don't you feel pervy watching it?

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 04:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Nar, I'm like "yeah, you get those kiddy fiddling bastards!!!"

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 October 2002 04:58 (twenty-three years ago)

hmm, maybe i'm a latent pedaphile then, cos i feel really uncomfortable watching that stuff posed as entertainment.

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

< /vicious anti-suv agenda >

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 05:05 (twenty-three years ago)

yr not alone, minna.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 24 October 2002 05:06 (twenty-three years ago)

(why i should consider it any worse than yr average murder cops series is a good question.)

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 05:07 (twenty-three years ago)

three months pass...
This morning I walked out of the back door of my building into a crime scene. The area just outside my back door was cordoned off with yellow police tape, and there were lots of cop cars with the lights going, taxis stopped, taxi drivers walking around, cops wandering around and a crowd of people gathering on the sidewalk trying to figure out what was going on. I wondered what kind of accident had happened and thought how lucky I was that I hadn't been there for it. It was weird because I consider my block ridiculously safe and I hadn't heard any strange noises or anything.

. . . and then I saw Jerry Orbach walking around. The crime scene looked quite cool, actually, because the snow was just starting to fall. I wish I could have stayed around to be an extra but I was late for work as always.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

That's nothing (again), my friend once saw Robert Stack wandering around a L.A. movie theater wearing an Unsolved Mysteries jacket.

My friend had Law and Order on in the b.g. while I was doing my French homework and I swear without the oh-so-verité visuals it sounded like nothing so much as a third-rate high school production. Which it basically is.

Amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I know this is an old thread, but I would just like to pronounce my undying lust for Vincent D'Onofrio. Phwor.

Thank yew.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, I know it's no big deal. It just happened to me, that's all.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I was just joking Felicity, your story is much better than mine.

Amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:44 (twenty-three years ago)

It is not a competition.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Your story made me think of the Rbt Stack one. I didn't mean anything by it.

(cowers)

Amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, Amateurist, I didn't understand the implied winky in the "That's nothing" because of the literalism disorder I have. I get it now, that's funny.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 05:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw my block on SVU which means Ice-T walked by my house. Exciting!

My friend B knows someone who got cast on CI so we are so going to stalk Vincent D'Onofrio watch filming.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Ugh - Vincent D'Onfrio? I think my image of him will forever be tarnished by his role (and make-up) in MIB.

But I did like him in Happy Accidents as I seem to recall, but I kept thinking of him and the bugs and stuff.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 21:46 (twenty-three years ago)

You need to think of him in _Ed Wood_ in that too-short scene where he IS Orson Welles. That dashing bastard.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Crap - guess I gotta dig-out the old VCR to refresh my memory on this one.

(And please do not ask why it is that I boxed-up the VCR and put it into the garage and yet kept the VHS tapes inside, taking-up room on the shelves. I'd not realized the absurdity of the situation until this moment. Thank you, David.)

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:43 (twenty-three years ago)

My friend B knows someone who got cast on CI so we are so going to stalk Vincent D'Onofrio watch filming.

i'm so jealous. I watch that show just so I can imagine having sex with that man. ::drool::

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 04:30 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
Think Vince is really hot? Go watch Full Metal Jacket again!!

Clarke B., Tuesday, 17 February 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i often have sexual fantasies about what the captain does to vincent d'onfrios charachter--usually featuring handcuffs.

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I've def. daydreamed about fucking orbach. Thats a bit weird isn't it?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

"Daydreams, eh? Guess I gotta take it where I can get it!"
